Old Hopkins!!!! Sytle makes fight! This dude will be the anti boxing in the ring. Limit the action and a lot of showboating to entertain the fans. But after everything is done it will be the lowest total compubox recorded for old Hopkins. His style never different from Floyd Mayboring. They got the style to last them until they are 60 years old! I will watch if Floyd vs. Hopkins at 154! I like to see what it looks like two boring fighter pair up in the ring.Posted April 18, 2014 9:48 am
Lamont.., “My dad is 50 and he get tired just walking up a flight a stairs.”
Too bad for your dad.. Larry Holmes fought to age 53… George Blanda quarterbacked the Raiders at 50… Nolan Ryan struck out major leaugers at 52… I can bound up 20 flights of stairs without getting terribly winded and I’m way past that age.
Hop beat Pascal at 46 and that was fantastic… But the bums he’s been fighting, including Shumenov are cherry picks … The only real champs out there are Kovalev and Stevenson and he’s living off the fat of the land.Posted April 18, 2014 1:02 am
I guess Lamont is for cheating dirty gaming Hopkins type fighting. Sounds like another brother protecting another brother. Problem is Lamont Hopkins can give a hoot about youPosted April 18, 2014 12:32 am
If people really call themselves boxing fans then why not appreciate who Hopkins is and what he does… I’m really intrigue by what he accomplishing at this stage in his life. I mean the name is just about 50.. My dad is 50 and he get tired just walking up a flight a stairs, lol.. Shoot he get tired from doing something as simple as hollering but yet here someone who is still a professional having guy trying to come in and make a name for themselves and even switch managers to secure a fight with him to he gots to be doing something right…
I mean we all know that he holds, he’s weak, and cheats, we know this, his opponents knows this but someway somehow, he keeps winning, if it was just that easy to defeat someone like that it would have been done now.. I mean have Hopkins ever been hurt, have he every been knocked down cleanly,,,,, no… It’s because he’s smart enough not to put himself in that kind of position to get hit like that.
I think in a sport filled with dummies who would take a punch to throw a punch, It’s nice to see that a man can step into the ring and actually thinking about what he want to do instead of going in a throwing punches…Posted April 17, 2014 5:26 pm
25 years of Hopkins , cliching, stalling alking around jab, clinch, jab, clinch, walk around clinch, stop, stall, clinch, jab then clinch again, throw low blow, clinch, walk, head butt clinchPosted April 17, 2014 4:51 pm
B hop would fake low blows, elbow, hold, hit behind the head, head butt, canvas a dope, any other cheating tactics now to man, in a boring hard to watch and hard not to get so frustrated that you will even ask yourself if infact your watching a boxing match or some weird combatant sport that aliens do on different plants.
B hop = sleeping disorders fix.Posted April 17, 2014 3:51 pm

Based on common opponents Shumenov should WIN. Ornelas WON NO rounds off Shumenov but WON one or two vs Hopkins. And William Joppy went 12 rounds with Hopkins but Shumenov stopped him.Posted April 17, 2014 2:04 pm
“Shumenov is concentrating on a lot of other occupations and boxing only once a year”-Which is pretty SMART. Because Boxing in once a year can fulfill his mandatory requirements while helping him to pocket more money in one Boxing match than most other occupation pay for working year ROUND.Posted April 17, 2014 1:45 pm

boxtra- yeah kovalev was not willing to be strung along and shafted by nard hop. he was willing to “fight” him all day. kovalev wanted a title IMMEDIATELY. and it was cleverly who came out and offered something serious and concrete with no bs and probably better money. kovalev got a great win against cleverly and manner and characteristic of the fight and win was impressive as hell. its no wonder nard hip ran to showtime along with adonis “quazi moto” stevens yelling SANCTUARY!!! im not watching another adonis fight til he steps up. adonis is officially boycotted by mePosted April 17, 2014 10:50 am

No he doesn’t. He smoozing you into thinking he wants them. So you don’t carp at his Shumenov cherry pick.Posted April 17, 2014 10:49 am

Hopkins will win a close and boring 12 round decisionPosted April 17, 2014 2:08 am
lionhard.., “If Shum can somehow use that great lawyer mind of his.” WTF!!
Who says he has a great lawyer mind? He has a law degree so now he’s F Lee Bailey? And who says a good legal thinker makes a clever boxer? It doesn’t follow.
Shumenov is concentrating on a lot of other occupations and boxing only once a year. As a result, he’s not a good boxer at all… which you only need to watch his “title winning” performance against Campillo to realize. He was getting walked down and murdered by Campillo, as he was in full flight retreat for the last few rounds … He lost the fight by a wide margin — which didn’t prevent him from getting the decision and the title.Posted April 17, 2014 1:46 am
I think I read somewhere that Shumenov is a rangy fighter that throws a lot of punches in every round. If he can somehow use that great lawyer mind of his, by converting his boxing strengths into strategy – then there should be no reason for him to lose. Quick punches in bunches with good range will always frustrate Hopkins. But I really dont know this new guy to give a good assessment.Posted April 17, 2014 1:13 am
Hopkins will have the judges, referee, boxing commission on his side. Wash DC showed in the Khan/Peterson fight how crooked they are. Hopkins will head butt, elbow, low blows to the hips, balls, legs, hit behind the head and have the support of his referee………………..the judges will give Hopkins credit for punches on the legs, balls, hips, head butts, elbows, etc………………this is the reason Hopkins wanted this fight in Wash DC, home of the cheater Peterson, who was on roids, not to mention his crooked judges and referee. This fight will not be on the level at all……………..Posted April 17, 2014 1:11 am

I predict a lot of feints, a lot of holding, and a boring ass fight. Hopkins via UD.Posted April 17, 2014 12:34 am
Hopkins is just a opportunist thru and thru. It’s been noted in the boxing community that Hopkins is one of the greediest pigs there are. He wanted little Mayweather for the big payday which he couldn’t get, now wants Kova and Stevenson which he should of tried to fight in the beginning. Sad thing is the public will now see more boring UD wins from Hopkins. Enough is enoughPosted April 16, 2014 11:58 pm

Box.., “Shumenov WON the Championship in the LEAST amount of Fights next to Rigo….of active Fighters.”
He didn’t win a damned thing.
Campillo was robbed blind… Watch Shumenov’s “title winning effort” on youtube… You’ll see Beibut barely survived and the commentators were agast at the decision. Since then he’s been fighting an average of once a year and fighting setups … The man is not serious about professional boxing with his super low activity level … he’s only serious about making money any way he can.Posted April 16, 2014 10:37 pm
Bernard even compared himself to Sugar Ray Robinson and even made out that he was better than him. The two fighters that Sugar Ray Robinson would of beat in there prime Roy Jones Nd Joe Calzaghe is the same 2 fighters that Hopkins lost. By the way Bernard SRR had more knockouts 107 than you had fights. You couldnt hold a candle to SRR in a 100 lifetimes ! Would SRR be great if he clinched, whined, fought dirty, made excuses HECK NO ! All he would be then is a club fighter like you Bernard.Posted April 16, 2014 10:09 pm
Excellent points John and not forget the Dr. Wallace bogus mediacl report on the Hopkins 1 fight. The man is corrupt thru and thru and is trying to milk the cow for whats its worth. my opinion is Hopkins should of been banned long ago. Dawson even said his head hurt from the head butts of Hopkins. Shame on you Bernard !Posted April 16, 2014 10:03 pm
A last thought on this old fart Hopkins , if he is so good and a legend in the making then, why is he afraid to call out Dawson, who, by the way, beat him 2 times and also Dawson is well past his prime and I think out of the sport BUT, I’d bet he’d love to come back one more time, and school this old fool again., Avenge your losses Bernard , after all you lost to this guy Dawson 2 freakin’ times , don’t avoid them … so, you’re not as GREAT as you claim.. Interesting backstory on Shumenov which I didn’t know. He sounds like a good guy. I like his aggression but his style of boxing goes better with guys who have a big punch. He’s kind of like Bradley that way. Only way he beats Bhop is if the old man turns old, finally.Posted April 16, 2014 7:12 pm

I swear if Hopkins wins this fight then the sport of boxing is in corrupt and crooked .. this guy should have switched to MMA years ago; he holds, grabs and whines a bit too much for me, he is NOT the Hopkins of old,the guy who school’d Trinidad and Pavlik, that guy is apparently on vacation somewhere enjoying life… Boxingdictionary.com … “The Language of the Ring.. Killing Moon The Soothsayer
All depends whether we’ll see the same Hopkins as against Murat….Took hopkins 4rounds to get warm …His back stiff and legs heavy…He was basically a sitting duck and a better fighter would’ve knocked him out…He took some hard shots from a very limited fighter..If that pattern continues don’t be surprised to see Bhop on the floor…Posted April 16, 2014 6:17 pm
I see why Hopkins cherry-picked Shumenov…
Campillo isn’t a real strong or skilled light heavyweight, but he’s the last decent fighter Shumenov faced. He beat the trash out of Shumenov, hitting him with 6 and 7 shots in a row as Beibut retreated rapidly around the ring to survive.
Campillo had a big grin on his face as the scores were read, that said, “Yeah right… This is pro boxing. I hammered this punk from ring post to ring post…and you’re pretending you didn’t see that.”
Shumenov doesn’t have a jab or a left hook. His left has no sharpness whatever. All he can do is fling right hand after right in predictable fashion. If you can mount any kind of an offense he runs his ass off like he did versus Campillo. His head is a wide open target.
Shumenov has very little pro experience… He averaged one fight a year for the past 5 years and that isn’t enough to improve a very lame game. He’s tough, strong, a great absorber, and can hit with his right hand, even his left hook if he hits you with it by accident — but he’s a setup for Hopkins.
His only shot is to get lucky and hurt Hopkins — which I hope he does.Posted April 16, 2014 5:47 pm

No way Shumenov wins this one. He has next to no boxing skills. Only had 15 fights. Expect a lot of holding, no jabs as usual by Shumenov, wide UD for Hopkins.Posted April 16, 2014 5:21 pm

Shumenov has less skill but a lot more power. If he lands clean, meaningful punches the night could end abruptly. Otherwise Bhop by boring decision.Posted April 16, 2014 3:30 pm

He used to manager himself until he signed with Golden Boy. I just can’t pick against Hopkins but Shumenov is not a bad fighter at all. I think he is gonna push Hopkins for the first few rounds.Posted April 16, 2014 3:09 pm
Shumenov has had only 5 fights in 5 years, which tells me he is either lazy, injury prone, unsure he wants to be a full-time fighter, or mismanaged. All of those this are not a good sign when you are getting in the ring with an all time great fighter, even if he’s an old one.Posted April 16, 2014 2:44 pm
