Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

“Squared Circle, those thoughts are in your mind only–I didn’t insinuate or say any of those things, nor did I compare Wlad to anyone else. I was talking about Wlad only.”

Hidalg0: Of course you were comparing Wlad to other fighters. It’s obvious and goes without saying. That’s the only possible way you could establish a standard for an acceptable amount of leaning, clinching and holding — and then deduct that Wlad does more of that than what you consider acceptable. In your own words, “pathetically so.” So in reality, the premise that you did not insinuate comparisons exists in your mind only.

PEEJ says.., “Problem is Ali was like 80 when they fought Holmes.”

No he wasn’t.. He was 38.. Same age as Wladimir is now.

Heavyweights certainly DO belong on a P4P list… If the heavyweight champ is among the active best boxers put him on the list … If he’s not don’t…

Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis, and Vitali Klitschko were some of the best fighters of their day.

“And great leaning, clinching, and holding skills. Pathetically so.”

Oh okay, whatever you say. As if Lewis and Ali didn’t employ the exact same tactics… lol. But Wlad is somehow held to a completely different standard. HWs lean, clinch and hold considerably more than fighters in the lighter weight-classes. Always have and always will.

how about list frauds top 5 opponents

floyd p4p number 1? for beating ortiz, guerrero, maidana, kahn, boiled down and out canelo? I DONT THINK SO SON. tell him to beat bradley twice. tell him to travel back in time and fight paul williams, kostya tszu, winkey wright, margarito with cement hands and no losses, serg martinez, etc.

Mayweather should not make anyones number one p4p. Based solely on the fights he chose to make. He has take an EXTREME version of the path of least resistance. I have never seen someone duck so many fighters and carefully pick who he chose to fight. mayweather is a fraud at this point. a circus act. you buy a live circus act ppv coming up with maidana in it

“So stop with that nonsense. Quillen has called him out, overrated Martinez said he would fight him. So stop with that garbage.”

Again, please stop with the pathological lying you sociopath. Quillin and Maravilla NEVER once called out 3G or agreed to fight him. In fact, the exact opposite is true. 3G has been calling both of the them out for over two years and they’ve been avoiding him like the plague. If PQ and SM had said that, 3G would’ve accepted those challenges in a NY minute because he badly wants to unify the titles at MW. Instead, SM chose to fight Cotto and PQ chose to fight some can that nobody’s ever even heard of.

it does not matter the tape has always shown pac is a supperior boxer. some haters may want to make more of a sweet shot landing but we know thats just about hate. nobody calls jmm a better or greater fighter than pacman NOBODY. maybe the lead hater and detractor te tumbo*.

I would say pacman erased a TON of the bitterness of that loss to jmm by smoking bradley TWICE SON!!! as bradley dominated jmm*. In fact there is even an article on east side above saying it!!! yep te tumbo is hating it!!

Manny Pacquiao is clearly the greatest fighter in the history of boxing. He has accomplished more than any boxer in history, His physical boxing skills, abilities and talent can be matched by no one. He has carried and dominated this beautiful sport for over 10 years. His convincing, spectacular victory of Timothy Bradley last weekend closed the door on who was the better fighter. Manny Pacquiao has no more questions left to answer. The vast majority of boxing fans come to the same conclusion as I do. There has never been a better fighter that fought all challengers regardless of weight class, and brought more excitement to boxing than Manny Pacquiao. Boxing was in a frenzy every time Manny Pacquiao entered the squared circle to take on, and beat yet another world class fighter. He is the number UNO P4P fighter today. His tax issues are being resolved, and he will not be in need of money. His future is secure, trust me. He has so many avenues outside of boxing to make a living from. His endorsement deals are very rewarding financially. He is the most sought after person in the world today. His influence in society continues to make it’s way into every stitch of society. Manny Pacquiao is more than just a hero to everyone, he’s a blanket that clothes peoples hearts. Manny Pacquiao has an aura about him that speaks of love, respect and humility. Manny is a fighter that puts his heart and soul into each fight and asks for nothing in return. He continues to have the discipline and honor he’s always had for the sport of boxing. Manny Pacquaio is a good man in a bad sport. Corruption is always around the corner waiting to get him, but he is the only fighter I can recall that keeps his integrity and loyalty to his friends, family and those that gave him the opportunity to make a living. This is a true and genuine man that will stand up for what’s right in the face of death. We will see the greatest fighter in history fight again. He doesn’t need the arrogant, selfish, materialistic, money hungry Floyd Mayweather. He doesn’t need whining, crying, cheating, lying Juan Manuel Marquez. They need him. Manny Pacquiao has graced us with his presence for many years. I will send a letter asking congress and president Obama to have a day of celebration for Manny Pacquiao once he calls it a day. Manny Pacquiao will break a lot of hearts, and the world must create more oceans so that the tears of Manny Pacquiao will fill them up once he’s retired. Trust me, there will never be another Manny Pacquiao. And also trust me when i say that Manny Pacquiao has a little more work to finish. Manny is the best ever!

Mayweather will price himself out again. And we all knew that.

Everything fan’s say about floyd good or bad is true.

Floyds a great talent and a cherry picker since he beat a undersized hatton.

Floyds a master in the ring but I always have these what if moments in my mind that make me question how good he really is. He’s just two solid fights in a row of fighting two boxers in their prime and in his weight division to take away that doubt.

Inexperienced canelo and in 2015 a washed up pac just won’t close the deal.

I’m a big fan of Rigo and was giving him props before the bandwagoners did once he beat Donaire. But Rigo at 3? He doesn’t have enough fights to be that high. The PFP takes into account the boxers’ entire career as well as recent results. He’s top 10 but more like 7 or 8.

GGG is impressive but not tested. Chavez will test him. I’m going for Chavez.

Mayweather – Maidana. I’ll go for Mayweather. So that PAC – May on September.

Khan-collaso. I’ll go collaso. To get Khan out of the way of PAC – May

Broner-Molina. No match. Broner

Ruslan-Algeiri. Ruslan

Marquez – Alvarado. Very competitive fight. Marquez by knockout. Alvarado by decision. I’ll go for Marquez so that there will be more interesting matchups to come.

Froch will win

Donaire will win.

So stop with that nonsense. Quillen has called him out, overrated Martinez said he would fight him. So stop with that garbage. I agree GGG is not gonna be beat but his body of work is still not P4P

Posted April 17, 2014 1:11 pm

PEEJ

You are 100% wrong Tark. Heavies do not belong on this list. And since Ali was a heavy he would not be added to the list.

Posted April 17, 2014 1:04 pm

TARK

PEEJ says.., “Heavies have no place on this list.”

You would be the first one to put Ali on the list if he was active.

Ali was 38 when he suffered his fourth (4th) loss to Larry Holmes, losing every minute of every round before quitting meekly in his corner. Holmes was the only good boxer Ali ever fought who matched Ali in height and size.

Wladimir is 38 and has been at his peak for 5 years. He’s truly a formidable heavyweight with a great jab, great right hand, great left hook, and great boxing skills. He’s beaten 2 Olympic Gold Medal winners and several Heavyweight Champions. He’s defended the Heavyweight Championship against more southpaws than all other Heavyweight Champions combined, not named Klitschko. Wladimir hasn’t been beaten for 10 years and is still going strong. He certainly deserves a Top-10 P4P designation since he could beat any boxer in the world.

PEEJ says.., “GGG and Kovalev don’t have the body of work to be added.”

The top middleweights are scared sh!tless of Golovkin. The top light heavyweight are scared sh!tless of Kovalev. With good reason I might add. They would all be crushed. Those two are recognized as the best in the world at their weight. Golovkin is fighting Chavez out of frustration — but he still has his eye on Martinez if he can get him after the Martinez-Cotto fight.

And if folks are saying P4P is saying you could beat anybody at the same weight then Wlad definitely would not be on it. But I still maintain heavies have no place on this list. GGG and Kovalev don’t have the body of work to be added also. Donaire has been taken off because he was overrated in the first place. He was beating old fighters, smaller fighters, and fighters about to retire. He has struggled with every fighter he has fought since Rigo. Donaire is just overrated. Garcia definitely deserves to be on the list. His body of work is great. Pac deserves to be on the list as well but based on current body of work he should not be ranked that high. Agreed, Ward needs to get back to work.

“Gennardy Golvokin and Sergei Kovalev, who are the best fighter in their divisions, should to be ranked ahead of several on this list”. TARK, NO. potential doesn’t merit being incuded in any list, which is why i think Rigondeaux is rated too highly. Mares’ actual ring-accomplishments exceed those of anticipated or imaginary ring-accomplishments and Rigo hasn’t really accomplished sh*t in a pro-boxing ring.

solid list. of course, Pacquiao* is rated too highly considering he hasn’t dazzled anybody since returning from his involuntary 1-year convalescence but defeating a ring-warrior like Bradley is one recent accomplishment he deserves credit for but not enough to be rated above the likes of Wlad or Marquez who demonstrated his superiority in clear and unequivocal fashion in III and IV. Rigondeaux is also rated way too highly based on his defeat of Donaire who has noticeably slipped over the past couple of years but overall a solid list.

Sugar Ray Robinson is mentioned. Floyd doesn’t compare to boxers like him. It’s come to something when the man rated P4P #1 today won’t fight the other great multi-weight champion boxer of the day…Boxrec has a P4P list, The Ring has…they’re all subjective anyway..Andre Ward needs to be more active to justify such a high ranking btw. Pacman is about right, I suppose. I’m counting heavyweights because it’s all boxing and Wlad Klitschko is top 6. Golovkin and Danny Garcia probably deserve a top 10 place imho.

I like Froch a lot but yall are correct he should not be on the P4P list. Wlad shouldn’t neither. Not because of what people say, it is because Heavies do not belong on the P4P list. The list was originally created for Sugar Ray Robinson. Basically to get recognition to fighters that were not heavies. If you were the Heavyweight Champ you were considered the baddest man on the planet and did not need that P4P recognition.

RE MMA guys fighting boxers. An MMA guy would smash the living day lights out of most boxers, the moment the fight either went to the cage fence (or the ropes if they fight in a ring) under MMA rules.

These guys are trained to throw in clinches, (super powerful in clinches), to grapple, to use knees, kick to all parts of the body and legs.

Admittedly, we have had old boxers like TONEY and the White Rhino (can’t remember his name off hand) compete in recent MMA bouts and be totally destroyed.

If MMA guys fought in a soley stand up boxing match, they would be hammered into the canvas.

A few years ago I had a MMA guy come train with me as he wanted to be a better striker in stand up. His physical strength was amazing and he had really good endurance, but because he was a kicker his square on stance was real hard for him to break and meant at boxing he was open for all sorts of shots I fancied with my back hand.

The one thing about these guys is they train hard, learn quick and have to be proficient in at least 3 disciplines.

Boxing is boxing, but MMA is as close to legalised fighting as you can get.

I wouldn’t rate the chances of many boxers going into MMA unless they take 2 years of intensive training,
learning judo, ju jitsu, wrestling and more from the very best money can buy.

I’m still waiting for David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli to back up their boasts and enter the cage and represent for us boxers.

I HAVE NO ISSUES with the Top 3 rankings, but I would have at #4 WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, for longevity alone and he has been head and shoulders above his challengers for a decade now.
#5 MANNY PACQUIAO
#6 MIKEY GARCIA

I to admit after the top 6, I can’t really rank too many other guys… Although Kovalev, Golovkin and Canelo have their noses in front.

Marquez, Bradley and FROCH all need to redeem themselves after all three fought really stupid fights last time out. Why aren’t we more exposed to Oriental fighters? I grew up watching the likes of Jiro Watanabe, Sun Kil Moon, Khaiosi Galaxy and more… The only guys I’ve caught recently were the Kameda brothers, so it’s really hard to just the Far Eastern fellas.

The guys who are bubbling some where under the top level are Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton, who will meet shortly, Groves, if he beats FROCH, the winner of CANELO and LARA and the winner of GOLOVKIN and CHAVEZ JNR.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Every boxing organization, magazine and website has their own P4P list and they’re all different. That’s precisely why none of them — not even Ring — should be taken too seriously. All P4P lists are based on hypothetical, dream-world scenarios that are debated and later published by boxing writers, editors and analysts. (A few are based on a voting system.)

They might as well be sitting around and arguing if Superman should be ranked higher than Batman and Spiderman on the Top 10 list of superheroes. So P4P rankings really don’t mean sh*t because they’re mere fantasy.

Posted April 17, 2014 2:45 am

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Any P4P list that has PacMan ranked just one notch above Bradley, after totally outboxing him twice, shouldn’t be taken seriously. Placing Klitchko that low and completely leaving Alvarez off the list only adds to the charade.

PACMAN is uncomparable! He started his boxing career like no other boxer. As a young skinny kid, he fought and beat good filipino, korean, thailander, japanese, chinese. Lebanese and kazakstan fighters. He won title belts in asia and 1 world title before coming to america to win another 7 world titles by beating great mexican, african, british, puertorican and american fighters. TARK

Gennardy Golvokin and Sergei Kovalev, who are the best fighter in their divisions, should to be ranked ahead of several on this list..

They need to be ranked ahead of Marquez, who is old and very beatable.

They need to be ranked ahead of Bradley, who is hittable and can’t punch worth a damn.

They need to be ranked ahead of Carl froch… Who is extremely punchable, uncoordinated, slow, and floored hard by a green punk kid who can’t box in hs last fight.

They need to be ranked ahead of Roman Gonzalez, who hasn’t beaten anybody anyone has ever heard of…

At least Golovkin and Kovalev have beaten people who fans HAVE heard of, and are ranked ahead of everyone at 160 and 175 respectively, based on their boxing ability and fearsome punching power.

I would also say Nonito Donaire shouldn’t be pushed out of the Top-10 based on a single loss to a masterful boxer.
