Laurence Cole will probably be the referee and ruin the fight. Cole is the worst referee in the history of boxing…………….

“if Perez fights scared like he dosent want to hurt the other guy…or afraid this could happen again and blame himself, then he will be a broken fighter and never make it to the top.Perez might have to fix his mind set if he wants to be a top fighter…this fight might show where he stands in dealing with this situation.” – Well said DWC. Some guys bounce back like Kovalev, who killed an opponent. Others like Gabe Ruelas are mentally broken. Boxing is the hurt game and it requires a certain amount of stoicism, even amid tragedy.

“glad jennings is getting a “namer” at heavy with some scalp value. Jennings is the man. Im taking jennings in this one and he wins a lot by stoppage. Number one dude in America.” – Cosign BEARS. I like that phrase, “scalp value.”

TARK – Agree regarding Takam, he is underrated by the public, but seen as a real threat by other contenders. I guess its natural that champions will take some guaranteed successful defences.

Wilder surely cannot be the mandatory over the winner of this two top 5 guys. Though it would hardly surprise me. Can’t call it as this is the best each guy has faced, if Perez is on it I think he could get a stoppage, if not then Jennings takes a decision

Why not allow Thompson to fight an eliminator Vs. Wilder? Wilder does not deserve to fight for a title unless he beats someone who can fight back.

Perez will get schooled… Takam already schooled him.

…, “The winner of the 12-round bout will become the mandatory challenger for the WBC Heavyweight Title, which was vacated by longtime champion Vitali Klitschko”

I thought Deontay Wilder was the mandatory challenger for that title.. I suppose neither Arreola or Stiverne care to fight him.

perez has been hanging around for a long time fighting in obscurity in like Ireland. It’s about time he hit the international scene. We were talking about that can like 3 – 5 years ago. Now, i feel its too late for perez. i think jennings will look good against him. I’m gland jennings has not got demoralized from nobody wanting to fight him. Jennings is one guy trying to get fights like kovalev and people just will not fight him. I would like to hear from jennings more

Didn’t think Takam nor Perez looked particularly good in their affair. In fact, I think I slept thru it live and had to watch it the next day on replay.

good matchup and im glad jennings is getting a “namer” at heavy with some scalp value. Jennings is the man. Im taking jennings in this one and he wins a lot by stoppage. Number one dude in America. it should be him fighting for a title eliminator not one of don kings guys. he should be in the title fight

Geale the great Aussie champ will get the chocolates don’t worry about that. He was already ripped by one Brit in barker it won’t happen again

I agree Macklin looks like a fighter more at the end of his rope…but if Macklin gets some sort of life back into him..a second wind…then Geale will be in the fight of his life,Macklin is a tough kid!!!

Assyrian God.., “Takam drew with Perez because he is at least as good as him.”

Takam is much better than that… He beat Perez solidly—just not on the scorecards… Takam is the prototype of a heavyweight who never gets a title shot—or even a 2nd shot at a top contender—because he’s too good and wouldn’t let a 2nd opportunity slip away.

I’d pick Takam to beat Stiverne or Arreola any day…but he’d never get the chance.

Meanwhile guys named Solis, Chisora, Arreola, Pianeta, Evangelista, Coopman, Frank, Dunn, Wepner, London, Leon, Marvis, and Charr get title shots all day long—because they’re so beatable.

I remember a manager trying to get Brian Minto a title shot. The promoter said, “I’m sorry buddy—but if Brian Minto ever gets a title shot I’m quitting Boxing and joining Ringling Brothers.”

I guess there’s a floor there somewhere.

Gaele looked very good in his loss to Barker last summer….Mac the Knife got blown out by GGG! Then looked only marginal against “The Boxing Que” Russ. An inexperienced Russ had some pretty fair moments in that one! I’m going with Gaele.

Posted April 17, 2014 6:33 pm

WHAT!?!

Geale will put a beating on Macklin for the full distance. Macklin is done and will retire or go back his domestic competition after this destruction of his soul.

Plus, he’s got the USS Cunningham salute (see photo)!!

Some people are underestimating Takam, he drew with Perez because he is at least as good as him. Not quite sure why this is a ”Final Eliminator”…Jennings just beat the very ordinary Szpika and Perez scraped a draw vs Takam. No logic here, a good match up between up and comers, but no way a final eliminator!

F.A…I belive you hit the nail on the head…most fighters arent going to look their best after what happened in the Perez..Margo..fight.Perez will have to put this behind him..and not blame himself for what happened, and get back to his old self. But ofcourse if Perez fights scared like he dosent want to hurt the other guy…or afraid this could happen again and blame himself, then he will be a broken fighter and never make it to the top.Perez might have to fix his mind set if he wants to be a top fighter…this fight might show where he stands in dealing with this situation.

I don’t like the heavys but I like watching Jennings, code language. I don’t like white fighters but I like black fighters. A baby can figure that out. What a joke.

Perez wasn’t the same guy in his last bout. Not surprising given the tragedy that happened with Mago. That elbow hook to Mago’s head early on might have been the one that started the brain bleed. A lot of times fighters feel guilty after such events and are never the same.

Heads up: ESPN to televise the April 26 world heavyweight title defense of unified WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko against WBO mandatory challenger Alex Leapai in Germany.

Jennings is better than Takam or whatever the name of the last fighter Perez fought was, thus I’m leaning towards Jennings by decision In addition Jennings is disciplined enough to make it a boxing match and not a brawl.

Posted April 17, 2014 3:10 pm

PEEJ

Perez definitely didn’t look good in his last fight. I am not big on heavies but Jennings is pretty good. I like watching him fight. I think he beats Perez by decision.

Great, great fight..two top contenders meeting each other.Perez really has power to end a fight at anytime,Jennings not as much.Jennings can box pretty well but so can Perez…very tough fight to call.Jennings might be alittle more ready overall for this fight but still cant say who comes out on top.Geale vs Macklin another very solid fight. Some thought Geale beat Barker when he lost his belt but he still didnt look like his old self.Macklin loseing to GGG might have shook him,but that liver shot Macklin took would have stopped anyone.Macklin might be at the end of his rope so Geale would be the favorite here..but if Macklin gets some of his mojo back he could win this and be back with a belt in the near future…good fight overall aswell…looking forward to this card!!!
