Nope. I’m just another GOAT at what I DO. And I’m not a piece of anything. I’m the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born and I’m the whole PIE!!

And by the way, personally attacking ME does not detract from the FACTS about Boxing. The FACTS remain whether you personally attack ME or not. SO go back to the drawing BOARD.

“predicts a Floyd win when he’s a 10/1 favorite, then brags like he’s the Messiah when the result matches. What a retard.”-Nope. I predicted it before the odds even came out. As a matter of FACT they set the odds on it based on how ADAMANT that I was when saying that Maidana had no SHOT. But they miscalculated. Floyd should be a 100-1 favorite. SO right now when I bet on him I’m getting a STEAL.

“Boxtra$$wipe feels the need to make a “prediction” on this fight.”-Nope. I feel the JOY in making a prediction on this Fight. Because I will be CORRECT yet again!!!!! And I KNOW that I’ll be taking a TOAST to it at the bar on May 3rd!!!

Posted April 23, 2014 5:35 pm

“Present odds on the Mayweather/Maidana fight are about 14 to 1 in favor of Floyd”-WOW!!!! That may be the LOWEST odds EVER for a CHAMP vs a 37 yr old!!! Maidana must be facing the GOAT because Maidana isn’t the Worst CHAMP ever. That honor goes to Sven Ottke.

“No, assadamus, you have haters. Lots of them. Disciples support you, haters attack you.”-And thats why I call them disciples. They support ME by putting MY names on THEIR posts meaning MY name is more important than THEIRS. They keep ME relevant by keeping MY name on the comment boards when I’m at work or when I get bored with SPANKING everybody and take a break. Keeping MY name popular is called supporting ME. And I THANK them for that…but OH YES. I have a lot of haters TOO. Of COURSE I DO. I’m the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born. I have a lot of haters just like the GREATEST Basketball Player ever born and the GREATEST Boxer ever born…

When Michael Jordan hit the WINNING shot against Utah closing his GREAT career with the Bulls the WHOLE Arena BOOOOOOOED him. But that didn’t stop HIS GREATNESS just like it doesn’t stop MINE….. Abraham Lincoln was arguably the GREATEST President of the United States EVER and some LOSER hated him SO bad that he ASSASSINATED him. A lot of people just flat out hate GREATNESS….IF you don’t have a lot of haters then you haven’t gotten GREAT enough yet. SO you’d better get to work before its TOO late for you. You can start by taking MY advice.

Don’t hate GREATNESS. Learn how to ADORE it. IF you can’t be the BEST at what YOU DO then learn how to support those who ARE such as MYSELF. It will make you feel a lot BETTER because you’ll WIN alot. And you won’t have to b!tch and MOAN SO much.

“Can’t you get get a chiped cable box anymore? I had one long ago it free cable all unscramble Chanel’s . Adults too lol. You have to find who selling the boxes, he chips them.” – Mike Tyson those de-scramblers were great. These jerks need to be punished for excessive PPVs and the best way is to ‘steal’ them for free. Back in the day my boxing buddies had them. We never paid these ripoff rates. Problem is the cable companies kept re-scrambling them and it got to the point where the descramblers no longer worked. Now the hackers build streams but half the time you risk importing a virus on your computer.

IF they don’t charge YOU for YOU watching then they charge someone ELSE for YOU watching. They don’t care WHO pays as long as SOMEONE does. Boxing can’t command companies to pay what they want to make SO they charge YOU. And crying like a SISSY won’t change it.

Posted April 22, 2014 5:21 pm

Boxtradamus

“Too bad you’re WRONG”-Nope. Very GOOD I’m RIGHT. IF it wasn’t for the HIGH viewership numbers which enables the networks to charge companies for advertising then the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL would be charging YOU like Boxing does….or they’d have to drastically lower everyone’s salaries across the board. SO you’re getting USED when you watch one way or the other.

Hidalgo: “Well, LOL, I don’t see how I, as one single person, proved in any way that fight fans complain more than any other sports fan in the world. And I haven’t seen any studies done on complaining sports fans. Opinions vary and we’re all entitled to our own. You guys have read mine.”

Lol…Hidalgo…I think this goes without saying, but I’m going to say it anyway.

I have a great amount of respect for your opinions, just as I do everyone on this site. We can agree to disagree sometimes, because it’s the nature of the sport.

But it’s not just your comments that I’m referring to, brother.

It’s years and years of covering sports. Boxing fans have grown accustomed to complaining much more often than fans of every other sport combined.

Much of it is merited, but some of it isn’t and has a lot to do with lack of knowledge concerning the business end of boxing.

But I would never intentionally put down anyone for voicing their valued opinions…especially not someone I consider to be a true friend.

God Bless!!

Posted April 21, 2014 10:29 pm

TARK

Boxing fans complain a lot compared to other sports I agree 100%… But they complain for very good reasons.

The product boxing fans get served is bullsh!t…

You have the top fighters fighting in a division for years and they never fight each other… instead they each fight a bunch of dubious 2nd raters who their own org ranks… The best don’t fight the best — they often fight the worst they can get away with fighting, so they can keep their precious title… Boxing judges aren’t selected and trained with any eye to talent for judging … It’s a corrupt system of who you know… who you will give kickbacks too… and whose fighters you will favor… Judges who render horrible decisions and scorecards aren’t weeded out.

Therefore ridiculous scorecards decisions are a constant joke in the sport … and have been for generations.

Fans get sick of all that.

Hidalgo: “Joseph, by your responses you maintain that PPV events are justified because fighters demand and deserve the huge sums of money they make and that they provide necessary compensation for the risks that they take. So let me ask you a question: What about the professional boxers that will never make it to a PPV event? Are their risks any less?”

C’mon, Hidalgo…the market sets the price. if you or the rest of the public doesn’t want to pay for the product at the suggested retail price, then the cost will decrease.

The problem here is that no TV executive or promoter would ever be so bold as to say that a fighter doesn’t deserve the money for which he’s asking.

Guys like Bob Arum or Richard Schaefer would merely say that “the demand simply isn’t there”.

The fans have always set the demand and price for the product.

My point last night, and you’ve proven it somewhat, is that fight fans complain more than any other sports fan in the world.

Although I love boxing, I have covered many other popular sports…and hands down, fight fans as a whole are the biggest whiners in the world.

They complain about scorecards and argue that every bout is so important to a fighter’s career…a victory or loss directly affects future opportunities and potential paydays.

But when a big PPV event rolls around with great match-up, those same fans will cry about spending too much money.

So which one is it? Are the fights meaningful or not? Maybe some match-ups just aren’t meaningful enough for some fight fans to pay for.

If that’s the case, then choose not to buy the product.

It’s very simple. It’s the consumer’s prerogative…just don’t crap all over the product in the meantime.

Shawn Porter vs Paulie Malignaggi was the only worthwhile fight on the card.

The other two fights stunk out loud… The opponents were worse than terrible.

Also 15 round fights were changed to 12 rounders for TV and commercial compensation. 12 round fights fit into hour long slots as apposed to 15 round fights. They weren’t changed for safety reasons.

Well said, Joseph HERRON.
“So you’re saying that these fighters don’t deserve and shouldn’t be demanding the kind of money that they’re asking for concerning certain style match ups? Even when you consider what they’re ultimately risking for our entertainment? How about Mago? Do you think he got paid enough for his efforts in November of last year?”

Almost as soon as a boxer’s career finishes, whether he retires under his own steam or is retired, he is forgotten by us, the general public, in favour of the Next Big Thing, and even when we read in the paper now this once great crowd pleaser has fallen on hard times or is in bad health, we out this out of our minds and mumble, someone else will look out for him.

We all do this and think it’s a shame. We slag off the Romans and how they viewed their gladiators as their personal play things, to be used and thrown away at a whim!

I do not begrudge any fighter for how much he earns for his ring career and to be honest if he feels he can win Safety-first, then more power to his elbow.

At the end of the day, they owe us nothing the moment they step through the ropes.

If we get a nobbins fight, then even better, but at the end of the day their safety and the safety of the sport should be paramount.

Hidalg0: “One more thing: What if you’re an avid football, baseball, hockey, and boxing fan and you have to pay to watch all those sports on TV? Now how fair is it to have to pay $50-$70 for a single PPV boxing event?”

Hidalgo, if you don’t want to spend the money to watch your preferred match-up, just like in other sports, you don’t have to.

You can stick to watching subscriber HBO or Showtime, and all of the great fights on ESPN or Fox.

Or just listen “The Pugilist KOrner” and we’ll call the action on May 3rd for you. We’re here for you, my friend.

Most discerning fans these days don’t mind paying the additional $250 per year ($50 per month for 5 months) to see the New York Giants play every Sunday if they live in Denver, Colorado. They weren’t given that option in the 70’s and 80’s and they absolutely love that they have that freedom now. So you’re right it is a bit different.

It’s the other way around now a days for boxing fans. Where they enjoyed seeing fights on free network TV on a regular basis in the 70’s and 80’s, but now have to pay for every major fight on either subscriber cable TV or PPV.

But to say that the price of PPV is mere greed…that’s rubbish, Hidalgo.

So you’re saying that these fighters don’t deserve and shouldn’t be demanding the kind of money that they’re asking for concerning certain style match ups? Even when you consider what they’re ultimately risking for our entertainment? How about Mago? Do you think he got paid enough for his efforts in November of last year?

I could be and am probably wrong on that though. I really have no clue how much a team is paid for a game.

Posted April 21, 2014 10:37 am

PEEJ

Well one thing is you don’t have to purchase every PPV event. Granted I watch all the PPV events but I am normally watching them with friends and splitting it up so I am not paying for the whole thing. But if you are purchasing all the PPVs that can get expensive. And also those other sports they get a lot more sponsors than boxing does. Not sure why but that is just the way it goes. Cause technically yeah one person is not making the money Floyd or Pac was making but their team as a whole per game is making close to that type of money I would think. Well not Floyd money but other high profile fighters.

Posted April 21, 2014 10:37 am

PEEJ

I was just stating that you don’t get to see all the games. That is why the have the MLB sports package, or NFL, or NBA or NCAA. You have to pay to watch all the games. Heck here in Texas we have the dang long horn channel and you have to pay for that channel to watch certain Texas games. Before that they would have them on PPV and you would have to spend like 20 bucks for the game.

Posted April 21, 2014 10:23 am

PEEJ

I am 34. I remember when you could watch a lot of fights but when PPV first started I do remember in being 19.95 or 29.95. Yeah it is all about greed because that is the only way to get these guys paid so much. Well those who demand a large purse. I agree with you though, I could care less about some of the other sports. I don’t pay for them nor will I ever. And just like you said they can charge for PPV because the can and the public is gonna pay for it. Just like high gas prices.

Posted April 21, 2014 10:18 am

PEEJ

Hildag0 you do actually have to pay to watch games. You don’t get all the games. Depending on the area you are in means you only get certain games. If you want to watch others you have to buy that particular sports package. Now granted it isn’t as much as purchasing a number of PPVs but you do have to pay to watch all the games.

And I THANK Porter for helping ME to prove MY point. The Hopkins-Shumenov fight was a cherry-picking disgrace.

Shumenov doesn’t know how to fight and doesn’t want to learn. He doesn’t have a traner. The judges’s verdicts were obviously bought in his “title winning” fight with Campillo.. Campillo was killing him and driving him all over the ring like he was a rank novice.. And he’s been fighting once a year since.. Shumenov is obviously is doing Boxing as a sideline to his other businesses.

He PM’s has had a damn good career especially considering his lack of power. He also has a lot of heart, I didn’t like seeing him take a beating like he took, but I expected that the strength and power difference between the two would be too much for Paulie to overcome.

Did you have a 411 episode before the weekend fights? Are you going to have one for next week’s fights. 147 is really deep and it will be interesting to see how Thurman does against Julio. Porter will have to fight Brooks; however, I see brooks finding an excuse not to fight.

Ps Gullermo Jones is fighting Lebedev again!

The NFL has a $1 billion contract with DirectTV alone. They have Big Contracts with ESPN, CBS, and FOX too. SO they really don’t need to charge the customer directly unless they want to add more to the FEAST. Companies pay $1 million for 15 seconds commercial airtime during the Superbowl….. IF Boxing was generating that type of revenue for and from networks on a consistent basis then they wouldn’t have PPV’s to the customer either.

Posted April 20, 2014 10:23 pm

Boxtradamus

“To my knowledge all games including championship games televised at no charge, same with baseball and hockey.”-Well then you’re even more ignorant than I THOUGHT. Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey all charge the television networks to televise their games and then the networks turn around and charge companies to put their commercials on during the game and advertise during the telecast based on the HIGH number of viewers.

Boxing doesn’t consistently get enough viewers to use that model. They can’t command enough money from companies for advertising. SO they charge the viewers that they DO get directly for certain events in addition to what they charge the network.
