Many thought Lopez beat Vargas. Against Canelo he made his biggest payday and didn’t want to turn that down. Understandable. He needs a couple wins then yeah him and Thurman would be a good fight and another measuring stick for Thurman. But Thurman would win

I think he never should have taken the Canelo fight and for only 150k i heard. I don’t believe he will go far. Maybe he should try and get down to 140lbs abd fight Provodnikov. I am sure that would be a highly rated fight.

“I think Lopez would have been a better measuring stick for Thurman than Diaz” Agreed but it’s encouraging to see that Lopez hasn’t been relegated to tune-up or steppingstone status just yet. primarily due to his profile as a live and risky underdog, which is perhaps the most he could’ve counted on as Thurman’s next opponent. Josesito has earned his own tune-up bout to get his mojo back before once again diving into the deep-end of the rankings.

Lopez was just to small for Canelo but against Maidana he was right in that fight and I agree tumbo he did have him wobbled at least once. I think Lopez would have been a better measuring stick for Thurman than Daiz

TJ, what I like about Lopez is that he always seems to enter the ring confident and prepared to fight like a contender who must defy the odds to win. his attitude and swagger (if not his record) are those of a fighter confident in his ability to win not lose.

Silly me! I didn’t mean to write Ortiz. I meant to write Lopez is a good guy along with Vargas and Santa Cruz. Ortiz, fair play to him was only in it for the money and more importantly where the fame could take him.

You also missed he pushed my friend Jessie Vargas to the wire before he bashed the likes of Ortiz and had already derailed a couple of other undefeated guys who were supposed to win against him!

Ortiz is another good guy along the likes of Santa Cruz and Vargas who are an absolute delight both inside and outside of the ring.

Good luck in your boxing careers to all three of these gentlemen.

Good for Josesito. he’s as game as they come despite being the outgunned and designated underdog in his recent bouts. a role that he gamely played to perfection v. Canelo. conversely, he managed to bust-up and derail Ortiz and had Maidana on rubbery legs in their shootout. IMO, Lopez between 140lbs and 147lbs is a risk to be reckoned with.
