I agree with Tark, That would be a great card.

TARK

Kid.., Why don’t you become a promoter??? Because I’d buy that PPV.

Actually, I’d probably buy 6 tickets for the fight.

Kid

This is how a PPV should look like if the promoters got together:

“Pound for Pound Number 1″

main event = mayweather vs pacquiao

undercard 1. porter vs bradley
undercard 2. thurman vs provodnikov
undercard 3. broner vs khan
undercard 4. marquez vs maidana

AMIGO MIO

May weather is not a boxer,he is a track and field athlete with a big mouth with no balls.with just 1 loss he will be nothing a mediocre boxer who is scared to face Pacquiao

Hecdog – just like you wrong about pac being the best ever yet he got KTFO by a 40 year old LW after 3 fights.

Gero, that funny, true, paulie was a boxer, boxers are not flat footed up on the front foot, so they have gaven away power for movements, a slugger, maidana are flat footed for power inside , but has slow movements.
A hybrid slugger/ boxer can do both not 100% of both but get up off flat foot when needed to box, and drop down for power when needed.
all of this is varies a bit.

Goro

Saying Khan is a boxer is an exaggeration. More like a punch bag.

Posted April 28, 2014 2:19 am

Mike Tyson

boxing fighters  are being rearrange in ranking , the boxers are slowly lose the war to the slugger/ boxer the hybrids.

First was khan a boxer taken out by Garcia a slugger/ boxer.

Next alexander A boxer, yes did totally beat maidana to a U.D decision. But Porter a slugger/boxer push him out easily by slugging him out as did Bradley. A slugger/ boxer as is PAC. Two of the best slugger/ boxer around.

the next boxer to go was broner, who maidan a true slugger vs canelo (a boxer w/a-good punch) beat the heck out of him

Next came paulie a true boxer, porter a slugger/ boxer nultralize paulie boxing skill, and slugg paulie and ran him over.

Next comes thurman another slugger/ boxer up against Dias a experienced counter puncher boxer.
Thurman’s get a tko, on a rib damage,

Verdict? 5 boxer have bitten the dust. As I said slugger/boxer will rule, not slugger. unless your a slick boxer but still have to be proven.

Next up: Floyd vs maidana a b- rated slugger ( experienced and getting better, a true inside fighter/ multi unexpected timed cross lobbing over the top)

Axexander, khan, both  beat maidana on a UD decision, but Bradley, porter, slugger / boxer beat alexander the boxer up
So Floyd need a shut out, or a stoppage.  As he represent or is the last few good boxers left standing now. See, its best to be humbled Floyd,

Fight mattysee that would be the test for Thurman
Posted April 27, 2014 5:06 pm

one fighter is at 140, the other is at 147. The fighter are 140 would have to move up, no catchweights either. It’s healthier to move up than down. And considering Floyd is at 147, not 140, it makes more sense to stay at 147.

Porter would be a bigger test.

I wonder if he will face Brook/English fighter or KHAN would be great.

Ok Keith Thurman you beat an old man and want to aim at may weather but you should be looking at mattysse or porter before looking at mayweather get pass those guys and you earned mayweather
Shot . Don t avoid those guys and a not a fan of Floyd but would rather see you against a mattysee
Good luck
Posted April 27, 2014 4:55 pm

Thurman said Floyd for 2015 because he is fully aware that to get to Floyd you need to keep winning on a high level and get your name boosted up. Floyd goes with the name that is “hot” and sells and he understands that.

Floyd is the GOAL. You need a GOAL in boxing. Why wouldn’t any young fighter, young Champion, want to test himself against the best? You should. And that’s what he wants.

Thurman called out Porter next because the fans want that. And he knows his chances of getting Floyd next are not high until he beats a bigger name and gets his name bigger and the fans demand the two fight.

He is not delusional about his situation like Khan is. He knows his position and will keep forcing his way into a better position which will line himself up right in front of Floyd.

In order to be a fighter you have to be confident, you have to have a bit of arrogance and cockiness to you. And you have to want to fight the best even if you may not be quite ready for it because sometimes, that belief, fuels your training, gets you the fight and that’s when you may even surprise yourself by beating someone you thought you were ready but weren’t quite sure.

REMEMBER, Floyd was doing the same as Thurman calling out top Name fighters when he himself wasn’t a top Name fighter.

Any opinion ?

Matthysse fights at 140 so you will not see him fighting Thurman. Now a fight with Porter is more like it. Even with a fight with the winner of Khan-Collazo I might even say Thurman is moving in the right direction.

Texas Hold-em

I read the comments here so far, and I laugh.! Thurman is having a difficult time getting fights due to the top contenders saying NO!, they will not fight Thurman. The guy wants to stay busy, diaz accepted the fight, it’s a business. I don’t think Karass was a pushover, neither was Chavez. I think Thurman is really improving with every fight. The WW division is full of talent, The governing bodies of the belts have to make it mandatory for the ranked fighters, to fight the ranked fighters. stop letting the high dollar fighters select whom they fight! The executive boards of these Belts have to do their job and make these top ranked fighters fight each other and stop avoiding a guy because he hits hard or because he is a good fighter, etc…. Let’s clean these belts up!!

I was wrong about Thurman’s, he real, really havent payed any attention but heard about his last fight showing, and his tubes I seen was a slow 12 rounder, nothing much happen.

But I did some searching and he has a terrific trainer, old trainer of sugger ray. he took him in as a kid. So s. rays style is what were seen now. Huge advantage in a fighter chance of his run. Proven moves what workd and what don’t, and, funny too he only 5.7″ why does he look tall? He could still put some meat on him and gain more power.

Posted April 27, 2014 1:57 pm

PEEJ

I wasn’t saying he wasn’t tagged but I don’t think he was ever really buzzed against Chavez. Against Karass he was in the first round but that was it. And like I said I didn’t watch this fight against Diaz, I will when I get home. But it is just hard not to like Thurman. He really doesn’t talk bad about anybody, he wants to fight everybody and he wants to end everything in a KO and not like a reckless KO but actually work towards it.

Hecdog

What!?! my friend, I was all wrong about Broner. I really thought he had talent, and he beat a few good guys, but i did not expect to see Broner freeze up like he did against Maidana. That loss spoke so much about his true character, and his inability to not make any adjustments whatsoever. I think he will have a very difficult time getting past any of the top guys. As far as Thurman is concerned, I just don’t see anything that stands out. yes, he has some power, but he has fought no one. Diaz is a light weight that came up to welterweight, and has some experience, but his best days were at the lower weight class. He doesn’t carry enough power in the welterweight division. Until Thurman fights a top guy or another champion, he is still very suspect to me. Soto Karass had him all but out. After looking at his record, he has a long way to go regardless of his unbeaten record. It’s more about who he fought rather than having an unbeaten record. I think a lot of guys beat him. He needs to be tested IMO. Everyone looks good against guys that don’t offer a whole lot. Bradley, Pacquiao, Porter, Maidana, Brook or even Guerrero or Berto would answer more questions about Thurman.

@Peej; Chavez did tag him a few times in that fight and had him covering up. He kept him puzzled for a bit of the evening with a sneaky left.

I love Keith Thurman…hard to dislike this kid. If he can beats Shawn Porter I will be completely on his band wagon. He does show soje defensive liabilities and I’ve seen him hurt…beat he recovers well and has the pop to turn the tides. Bring on Shawn Porter!

Posted April 27, 2014 1:31 pm

Floyd’s issue

Bradley would beat him too…

Posted April 27, 2014 1:30 pm

Floyd’s issue

Pac would beat Thurman easily; he would tag him from the 1st minute and hurt him, he is way faster. I also think he can take Thurman’s punch. Honestly, Thurman DID NOT look that impressive against Diaz…he is not in the class of Floyd or Pac…

Posted April 27, 2014 1:28 pm

PEEJ

Chavez never hurt Thurman, Karass briefly stunned him in the first round but never hurt him after once Thurman was warmed up. Didn’t see the fight with Diaz yet so I have no clue if Thurman got hurt against him but from what I have read that didn’t happen.

I don’t think Khan would be out boxing Thurman before Thurman got rid of him. I think Thurman would put a hurting on Khan

Thurman impressed me for sure, Great hand speed , good defense and power, lots of power, I like the way he’s being managed, slowly, gradually and he’s not too anxiopuis for teh really big fights unlike Khan. Thurman is a force to be reckoned with and yea, I’d like to see him face Mayweather but I’d also like him to clean up the division, against Broner, against Porter, against Pacquio, (he’d be too fast for Pacquio) AND in a a year or so I’d like to him face off against Canelo, I think he’d give Danny Garcia a good match but that fight would have to be at a catch weight. Again what I like the most about this guy is his speed and power and he’s hungry very hungry fighter .. he’ll be around for sometime. I was impressed and I also thought that it was the best fight of the evening Boxingdictionary.com “The Language of the Ring “

@Peej I agree but he would get out boxed before catching him.

I think Thurman would get rid of Khan inside of 9 rounds. Heck maybe inside of 6

Posted April 27, 2014 11:23 am

My only knock on Thurman is that I hope he learns how to control his impulse to open up for the kill. I notice last night that he can get a bit buck wild a little if he feels he got his man. In that third round; he kind of did it a little with Diaz and Diaz actually sort of buzzed him before he called it quits.

Posted April 27, 2014 11:11 am

Sal

I like him cause he keeps improving and shows that he can adapt in the ring. Also has a well balanced attack. I don’t how good he really is because hasn’t faced a top WW in 22 fights. No need to bring PBF into the convo because Thurman would look like a rookie against him. Porter would be the best fight to show that he has arrived. He would get out boxed by khan before knocking him out eventually. Devan would also test his skills as he is not terribly hard to hit. His power is what people are attracted too, but happens when faces some one he can’t hit or can take his punch? Or that hits as hard as him?

Nothing wrong with the quality of Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman’s opposition. He’s been matched perfectly for the most part and it’s not like he’s not being calling for bigger challenges against the top ranked guys in his division.

Exactly what I said. lol. I had a long day yesterday, worked out, played basketball, played disc golf, had to move my girls stuff from her 3rd story apartment to her new place. And that was from north to south. So I just had a long day, really a long weekend. So after that fight I went to my room and laid down. Figured I would be up long enough to watch the fight because I knew it would go past 6. I blinked and then when my eyes opened all access was on. lol

Taking about about what?

Can you not read, dumbass?

I’m taking about Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.

Oh, you mean Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman as in the KO punching welterweight sensation who keeps bowling ‘em over like skittles on his ascent to the top?

Yes, that Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.

Yeah Thurman is actually moving along nicely. Though I didn’t really care for the match up with Diaz, I feel it is a step backwards. But it was also just a stay busy fight and it is better to get out there with a stay busy fight, get a couple of rounds in and stay in the spot light. His last 2 fights were good tests.

Didn’t get to see the fight, ended up passing out after the Mathysse vs Molina fight. Looks like Thurman got him out of there. I will check it out when I get off work. He is moving in the right direction, keeps on improving. I think next year a fight between him and Floyd would be a good scrap. Lets see if he can get the fight with Porter. Thurman is the real deal

What do you mean you passed out after Matthysse-Molina?

Posted April 27, 2014 10:26 am

Octavius Jomar Chatman

Some of you so called fans are so stupid….You talk this nonsense of how he hasn’t fought world class fighters….Everybody has to start somewhere….Even the world class fighters you speak of didn’t start out beating world class fighters; they had to build up to that point. This kid is serious and he is improving with each test put in front of him. Let’s pray that his team give him stiffer test and he passes with flying colors. Hopefully they will put him in with Porter and that will shut some of you up!!

I like what I saw last night with Keith Thurman. He showed excellent defense. He moved his feet and body very well; and the power was extremely good as always. I like his ability to switch from a boxer to a puncher on the drop of a dime. That’s what impresses me most about this kid. I hope they can make the fight with Shawn Porter…..

what i like about thurman is he keeps improving – i say it all the time a lot of fighters get to the level then just get in shape for a fight but don’t improve. on that showing tonight Thurman is probably the one out the current pack of contenders capable of taking on the top boys floyd, pac, bradley, marquez

This is something new, GBP fighters started calling out Manny Pacquiao, first Broner, Canelo and now Matthysse, why not Thurman, did someone coach them? I know its not Schaefer, might be Oscar. I like this fight to happen and I wish Top Rank and GBP rift is over. but first Oscar should fire Schaefer.
