This bout is a walk in the park for mayweather. Maidana is made for Mayweather’s style. That’s why Mayweather picked Maidana.

HECDOG, Teddy Atlas is only saying what he feels and is the mirror image of you attacking Malignaggi at every opportunity. You are a very dangerous individual and hopefully you do not have a gun licence as I can see you shooting up the TV studios after a night on the sauce. Let Manny fight his own battles. You have a much bigger battle with your own sanity.

Teddy Atlas needs to be publicly flogged for 10 months for his disparaging, defaming comments about the great Manny Pacquiao on ESPN’s First take. Atlas has been one to continually criticize the living legend, Manny Pacquiao. He reminds me of another brain damaged commentator and wannabe boxer Paulie Malignaggi. These two guys have such jealousy and envy for Manny Pacquiao, but neither has ever had any type of relationship with him. Stephen A. Smith can be added to this list of Manny haters. These guys have a platform to speak on a sport or sports without being bias. Manny Pacquiao has never failed a drug test of any kind, nor has there ever been rumors that he has failed one unlike Floyd Mayweather (3 failed tests). Just look at the TMT fighters that keep failing over and over. Manny Pacquiao is a good guy in boxing that is always a target because he is a decent, honest, sincere, humble, caring, giving role model to the millions of children, youth, teens and families all over the world. Teddy Atlas should know better than to attack many Pacquiao without a scintilla of evidence. This is the same Teddy Atlas that was a thug and ran around causing trouble and getting into trouble in his youth. This is the same guy that spent time at Rikers Island for criminal activities. Teddy Atlas comes from a good family. His father was a doctor. He has a great job commentating on the greatest sport in the world. I’m not sure why Teddy continually tries to blast Manny Pacquiao every time he gets the chance. Manny has done nothing to him in any way shape or form. I will be writing a strongly written letter to ESPN and ask for them to terminate Teddy Atlas position, and request a written letter of apology to Manny Pacquiao, his family, fans and myself personally. Teddy Atlas goes around to various universities and gives motivational speeches. He is respected by many, but to me he has tarnished any good that he has done by continually talking shots at the greatest fighter of all time without cause. In 2000, Teddy Atlas received the NFL Helping Hands Award for his charity work, which is admirable. I hope he uses one of those hands and slaps himself a few times for trying to degrade Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao is a saint among the devils in the boxing world. He treats all people with respect regardless of what they say about him. This is a man that we should look up to. A man that harbors no bad will towards others. Manny Pacquiao is a man that takes care of his family, his friends and a country. Manny Pacquiao is a congressman above reproach. He is the voice of those that have no voice. Manny Pacquiao is a special treasure that came on to the boxing world as a 15 year old. His boxing skills need no description. His character as a human being is unquestionable. The question for Teddy Atlas remains. Why do you hate Manny Pacquiao so much? The world loves Manny, trust me on this. Manny is the best.

isn’t it strange when he said that he wants to safeguard his health? real fighters go inside the ring with the do or die mentality… i’m not against the health and welfare of the boxers but if you think of it, he hasn’t engaged himself in toe to toe wars to be really concerned about health… the WWE has taught him that an entertainer’s health wouldn’t be compromised in a staged event… people will still watch and there’s money to be made… so why accept real challenges when we can do inhouse and stage everything… everyone wins! from the fighter to the promoter to the adviser!

If Pac stepped in with Maidana it would be a good fight also. It would be a title holder against a title holder. Not a bad fight. But Floyd is fighting Maidana. Many people said he would not step in the ring with Maidana after he beat Broner. But now that he has the double standard has started back up and Floyd is all of a sudden cherry picking again.

Posted April 29, 2014 10:18 am

He is cherry picking !!! Don’t be a clown and tell us Maidana is the best welterweight note even close , PAC suppose to be shot and you criticize him for fighting rios right after his ko but don’t criticize mayweather that dh suppose to be the best and fight the best right??

The legendary Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao and his beautiful wife Jinkee recently welcomed their 5th child, Israel into the world. Life continues to get better for the living legend. His spectacular performance against unbeaten Timothy Bradley left viewers in awe as Manny used his speed, boxing intellect and a variety of pin point punches throughout the fight. Boxing rises to a level of excitement that reaches the sky every time Manny Pacquiao fights. There are no other boxers today that take command of the world’s attention like Manny. Recently there were fights that involved Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter. Both guys would not be recognized outside of the boxing ring. Saturday there is a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana. There’s no excitement anywhere. Real sports fans don’t have much interest. Floyd Mayweather’s routine of fighting handpicked, one dimensional or inexperienced fighters has worn thin. His me, me, me look at my money and materials and my women I can buy off has fans losing interest in his particular fights. We saw fans badgering him on the All Access show. Floyd has made a fool of himself, and the ticket sales aren’t going very well. Boxing needs Manny Pacquiao to come back soon. He is currently negotiating a possible 5 fight deal that would take him through 2016. Bob Arum is rumored to have a huge offer waiting for Manny Pacquiao. Those that are against Manny signing with Arum must know that Manny Pacquiao is a very loyal, forgiving, understanding, loving and caring person that is a man of his word. Arum has made millions of dollars for Manny Pacquiao. Could he have made more money for Manny? Yes, but Manny Pacquiao has enough money today to last him and his family a life time. Manny Pacquiao is the greatest pure fighter in boxing history. His enormous popularity comes directly from his incredible boxing ability that fans love. Manny is warrior unlike like any other warrior. The living legend has taken on the best of his era. He has no fear of any man or beast. Floyd Mayweather is a lost soul bathing in his money and materials, but he lacks the respect of his peers and the public. Everyone knows that he avoided Manny Pacquiao at all costs even going as far as getting himself locked up just to avoid the greatest fighting machine of all time. Styles make fights, and Manny Pacquiao’s style would have given Mayweather fits. Mayweather would have been knocked in rounds 10-12. Trust me on this. A legend like Manny Pacquiao that carries an entire country on his shoulders has a special ability and passion that cannot be duplicated. Manny Pacquiao beats Floyd Mayweather in all areas. Speed, power, athleticism, stamina and ring generalship favor Manny. This man is not your ordinary man. No one beats Manny Pacquiao on a one fight basis, no one. Manny is the best!

Who said floyd would not fight marcos. Five loses slow wide punchs has to have his feet in the ground to throw a punch. The fight is a joke.

TARK

LMFAO again!

This pundit says.., “Maidana’s body is a focal point Khan and others have used to their benefit.”

Khan landed one (1) lucky body shot and it took Maidana several seconds to go down.. Meanwhile Maidana was wide open for a follow up punch that Khan never threw.. Khan was shocked that he landed such a good punch … and was extremely slow to react or follow up.

That goes to the fact the liver shot caught Maidana by accident… If Khan was consciously trying to hurt Maidana to the body he would have returned to that punch… He would have followed up the brutal body shot he landed.

Khan did neither, and Maidana blasted the Hell out of Khan from rounds 6 to 12 with massive energy … That doesn’t happen if a body attack works well… your opponent gets worn down and loses steam… Maidana GAINED steam.

Pacquiao’s plans : Pac vs JMM X6

Posted April 29, 2014 4:08 pm

Floyd’s Haters are so bitterly PO’d at Mayweather actually taking on all comers (that they initially insisted he would avoid) that they’re now scraping the bottom of the barrel and pumping-up the likes of Porter and Thurman to sustain their bitter Hate of Floyd. Surrrre Floyd is facing Maidana to avoid Porter and Thurman (lol) and what are Pacquiao’s* plans to face them sometime soon?

Posted April 29, 2014 4:02 pm

te tumbo

PUGFAN, i always chuckle at some people’s selective recollection of my previous posts(?). otherwise, i would Love for Pacquiao* to do some of the heavy-lifting at welter instead of relying on Floyd and Garcia to do all of the work so that he can continue to beg for a completely unnecessary 5th matchup v. Marquez (on his terms no less?!) or a mega payday v. Mayweather or some other fringe contender coming off of a Loss. Btw, facing Mayweather won’t make Pacquiao* any more formidable. you’ll recall(?), that i’ve always considered that matchup to be a lopsided, anticlimactic “W” in Floyd’s favor. Mayweather is simply that dominant. in fact, name another welter that would be automatically favored to defeat this version of Maidana? Just ONE? . . . i’ll be waiting for your response including your silence.

“whatever he does best, my goal is to take that away from him and make him resort to doing something else” Damn “Money”(?!). that is the very foundation of Mayweather’s success. bolstered by the fact that he Is the naturally-bigger fighter. anticipating Floyd’s precision leads and counters bouncing off of Maidana’s chin and jaw is what everybody else is imagining . . . but IF Maidana can manage to consistently if not frequently land his hardest shots, he will provoke Mayweather into some exciting exchanges. watch closely. because that’s when Mayweather takes the risks that count and etches additional detail into his glorious ring-legacy. let there be no doubt about it. Maidana, at this particular threshold of his career, is a formidable opponent and an impressive scalp for any welter to add to their belt.

Rios is way faster than Maidana. Manny made him look like a punching bag because he can’t open up or else he eats a lot of power punches. Maidana will try his best to look for opening in a turtle type of defense from Floyd. We will see the offense of Pacman vs. the defense of Floyd showcase to the almost the same style opponents. Boycott this sparring fight and let Floyd, GBP and Showtime lose money in this event and force them to fight the real deal and what people wants to see, Pacqioua!

Happyboy: “Instead of refusing testing and suing Floyd.”

REALLY?!! So according to you, King Floyd, simply because he was so desperate to protect his zero from a real threat in a combat sport, where you should WANT prove you’re the best, not just claim to be, THAT Floyd, should be able to just pull unfounded accusations about a man’s extremely hard-earned livelihood and legacy, straight outta’ of his ASS, and right when negotiations were nearly complete, AND Floyd made them without so much as a single questionable test result concerning Pacquiao, (Like apparently WAS the case of how Floyd is purported to have failed 3 such tests before 3 fights and covered them up from NSAC. And we all know Floyd also shoots up his hands)? Not to mention, when Floyd first made his juvenile gratuitous assertions and unconventional drug test demands, there never even a singl rumor of Pacquiao and PED!!

Maidana is a good guy, glad he’s getting a big payday. But, he has no chance, none whatsoever. I think this will be Floyds easiest fight since Baldomir. Maidana has power but super slow hands and footwork. He will be swinging at air and hitting arms the whole night. Total mismatch.

PPV numbers, YES, but not money generated from the gate and other business deals in place. Its something I didn’t even realize. There are business deals all over in the city you fight in.

there is a reason why Promoters and fighters still want to fight in Vegas.

Hidalgo, you could be on to something. If floyd cycles between fights, and waits tell the last minute to pick his opponent, he could be gaining an advantage, since his opponent would 1, either not have the time to cycle without getting caught, or 2. his opponent could fail the tests, due to the fact they didn’t have enough time to clense thier system.

Posted April 28, 2014 5:05 pm

Doesn’t fall flat at all Old Coot. It is the truth. And as a matter of fact you stated Floyd would never fight Maidana and that Broner had bigger balls than Floyd. Now I guess you are backing off of that since Floyd is gonna fight Maidana.

If USADA will fail you for the use of Xylocaine, I don’t know. But it will show up. Nevada you can’t use it for the day of the fight. It’s actually a risky drug when injected.

But it’s no rumor Floyd injects his wittle hands with xylocaine, a substance banned in every other state except Nevada. Interestingly, Floyd fights no where else but Nevada. This is NO rumor.
Posted April 28, 2014 4:38 pm

It’s banned in Nevada. that was cleared up by the Commission in an article. You are not allowed to use it for fights. It was made illegal a while back. I think you are allowed to up to a certain point but not for the fight. It will also show up in tests. So USADA would catch it on random tests.

There are other anti-inflamatory steroids, not anabolic, that are used in sports to treat athletes susceptible to injury. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

By the way, a well respected journalist would have gathered all his facts together, continually researched and built up an investigation before writing an article that states use the words “rumor” and “filtered”

Thomas Huaser is not perfect. He is full of it just like everyone else and I’m not talking about his several articles on Mayweather. You read enough and listen to his interviews he is fallible just like everyone else.

you also have to look at his ties to certain people.

Remember, he could always continually go after that same topic with Floyd. He could go after Pac. Has he? How about anyone else?

Floyds mantra is, “hit and not be hit” so there’s no way in hell he would ever trade with maidana. First he would not do so because that’s not his style and he’s never fought in such a way. Second, as dangerous as maidana is as a brawler, floyd would be committing professional suicide trading bombs. Third, Floyd says crazy things to sell fights. He’ll say one thing but do another. When has Floyd ever brawled? ….To Floyd I say….PUHLEEEEEZ!!! I’ll catch your fight the week after. I not into paying for 15-1 odds.

Mr C

FMJ wanted the fans to choose his next opponent. Apparently on the FMJ poll, the fans picked Khan. Why is FMJ scared of Khan? Why did he lie to his fans? Why is he facing a guy that glass jaw, bambi legged Khan beat? FMJ will never take on anyone in their prime. That’s why he skipped through the Jnr Welter division and was too scared to face an over-the-hill injury prone Kostya. Then again Mosely and De la Hoya did the same thing I guess. Why does he drain Jnr Middles and claim to be the Jnr Middle champ without winning at 154lbs? Too many questions and not any answers from this muppet, all the while he sucks money out of his own fans pockets because they are too stupid to realise that it is them who are lining his pockets and FMJ is laughing at all of them.

RUMOR, glad you clarified it.

As far as the Speculation towards Pac, it was wrong as well. The bad part of all that was just made worse with Pac’s refusal to cooperate with additional testing. And made even worse later on by Roach who speculated that JMM was on something.

Remember, you can always keep hammering away at that topic but it died down, why?

As far as the lawsuit, Floyd wasn’t going to be dragged to court because it not only costs more money in the long run, but he was going to lose because he did slander Pac. He had no proof. And with what he said to the media, he was going to lose. Pay up and move on. Most Rich people pay up guilty or not and move on if the cost is cheaper.
Court is the last place you want to be when you are high profiled. things not even related to the topic at hand come up.

Bradley, Pacman and Garica are all higher calibre and higher ranked fighters at 140-147 than Maidana……That said, I like Marcos, he’s got a good punch and he’s hard as nails, and he will definitely bring his A game against Floyd. Is it possible for Mayweather to emerge from this fight with his reputation enhanced? I don’t think so. This is a risky fight for Mayweather’s legacy.

For me, yes, they are better fights but both Pac and Bradley are Arum fighters and Garcia is fighting at 140. So, how is he supposed to fight them?
Even Bradley admitted signing with Arum lowered his odds of facing Floyd.

Personally I feel the testing argument between Floyd and Pacman is just a convenient excuse for both fighters to aviod fighting each other and not put at risk their earning power. Financially they have earned more money between them without fighting each other than they would have made had they fought back in 2009 when they fight was most relevant. Whoever won would have probably earned no more than they have earned without the fight happeneing and whoever lost would have seen their pay drop dramatically. Pacman may have earned slightly more had he have beat Mayweather but either way the fight was a huge huge risk for both fighters.
Posted April 28, 2014 1:06 pm

Yes, this was one of the arguments presented. Its also a case as to why neither can actually claim they are the best.

A truly great fighter will be willing to risk it all for Glory first. Money second. Its more about Ego than financial gain. that doesn’t mean you take a paycut or undervalue yourself, I’m not saying that at all, but Greats find a way to make a fight they want happen or at least do their best in making it happen. Did both Pac and May do this? Its debatable. It hasn’t happen so maybe not.

Sure on paper this is a mismatch. But to be fair to Maidana, he has improved under the tutlage of Robert Garcia. To me, he’s looked better recently, but it was his wins streak, on national tv, that got him this fight. He’s the current best choice at 147 for Mayweather, other than than Pacquiao or Bradley. To put that in better perspective, Manny’s is hoping for Marquez for the fifth time. What would fans be saying if Mayweather would have said, I would like to fight Marquez again, he’s the best available after his knock out over pac? That would once again be another projected mismatch.

Floyd doesn’t have to campaign for everybody. He needs to take a strong stance for himself. He has already said boxing needs better drug testing. He is on record stating that and doing what he has been doing with the random testing is great for the sport. He is the one that pioneered the extensive drug testing. No matter how you look at it. Now other fighters are catching on. And to be honest, apparently Nevada is doing what Arum wants for the testing. Seems like for Pac and Marquez he has them doing so called extensive testing which really is the basic testing they have always done. Bradley on the other hand for both fights actually used the Vada testing.
Posted April 28, 2014 12:46 pm

Agree.

You can’t force everyone to do what you do. You can only lead by example. Agree.

And Floyd doing it because he is looking out for his best interest has always been how people go about changing things.

Like I said, at one point nobody was checking gloves until one guy looking out for his health and fairness decided to demand to have those gloves checked. That changed protocol. It wasn’t his job to go around doing it for others. He just had to lead by example and show you another way.

Complete mis match IMO. Maidana has been beat by Keltelnik for crying out loud. Yes he beat Broner recently but we saw Broners level in his fight with Malignaggi. Against Khan he was beat. And Devon Alexander manded him a schooling. Mayweather saying that he is not under estimating him is just his way of tring to buold hype. Pacman, Bradley, Khan, Marquez, Alexander, Porter, Brook, and Gurerro would all beat Maidana IMO.

“Not only should all fighters be on a list to be randomly tested but all fighters should take a stand and demand it in today’s world of PED use and deception. ”

I agree with you William. But since random drug testing is not a regulation in boxing, the fighters don’t have to do it. Floyd only wants random testing for the opponents he faces. When was the last time you saw him pushing really hard–campaigning–for random testing to be a required part of boxing? Floyd has backed himself into a little hole with his random testing mandate. He challenged Pacquiao with it and made a foolish spectacle of himself, so now he has to require it of all his opponents or he will make a bigger fool of himself. But don’t forget, even though Floyd undergoes the testing for all his fights, it’s the testing agency of his choice, under the terms of his choice. And they always happen in Nevada, the state that would do anything for their little golden boy. Anything. Even delay his jail sentence so he could fight and generate for revenues for the state’s number one city.

There’s a lot of gold around, and generated by Floyd Mayweather Jr., but an awful lot of it is tarnished.
Posted April 28, 2014 12:31 pm

Great Men rise above what is required of them. That’s what we saw with the Olympians who entered that program that had additional testing beyond the already year round, random testing that the Olympics required of them.

Floyd is tested through USADA who tests Olympians. Who else should he be tested by?
You are talking about a Program that continued to go after Lance Armstrong who was more loved than Floyd its not even comparable.

USADA, if ever caught through tamper would be disbanded right away. They aren’t going to risk it for one athlete.

The terms of his choice is only under his control as far as the program he chooses which is “Event Testing” and not “Year Round.” But he has no control of when and how he is tested. It’s all based on their protocols. When he signs off, he is fair game to be tested by USADA as they see fit. If he misses a test there are consequences. Many who miss their test automatically counts as a failed test.

“And it’s no wonder Floyd can hand-pick his opponents.” I’m just trying to think of one (no. 1 ranked fighter) fighter in the past 40 years that didn’t hand pick his opponents. Chavez Sr. ? Maybe, but when he got beat by Randell he cried like a baby and cursed Don King for it. Fighters get paid more to win. Once they lose, thier pay scale drops dramtically. Becouse of this fighter’s will always try and make good choices. They’ll always consider risk vrs rewards. And those a notch below the best will always call out the best, so they can get themselves a piece of the pie, and better yet become the one that has to start measuring risk vrs reward.

Hidalgo:

You made some points but in No Way are you right about additional testing. Not only should all fighters be on a list to be randomly tested but all fighters should take a stand and demand it in today’s world of PED use and deception.

In the case of Pac and Floyd and Pac refusing random testing, not only was he wrong but he should have stood up and taken the test one step further by demanding Floyd and him do Year Round testing. And when his result say “Negative” for any PEDs, he can put them up on his website as a slap in the face at Floyd.

People will say that it was on moral grounds that Pac refused because who was Floyd to dictate terms?
Well, it shouldn’t have mattered if you have nothing to hide and in the end you know it is the right thing to do for you and the sport because it should have already been in place. So instead of being against, you could have been a part of something.

At one time I’m sure they didn’t check handicappers and gloves until one fighter was suspicious of another and said “Hey, I want to check you hands/gloves or there is no fight.”

Mayweather has been picking his fights. Until there are major changes with the sport, the mojority fighters will pick and choose as much as they can. This is nothing new to the sport. It’s a business, however it’s a business that has a very high product turnover. We can complain about Mayweather’s choices, but we can’t say he hasn’t made the right choices throughout his career. Because once, he put’s up a string of losses, we’ll forget all about him and cast him aside.

Any fighter that accepts a fight with Floyd will have to test. Maidana also holds a title which is a good reason why he got the fight. Plus he had a strong showing in beating Broner. Plus fans actually voted saying they would watch this fight. Also Maidana is the most deserving at welter currently for the fight unless you are wanting to see Porter get the fight but he has a mandatory set up. Not to mention many people on this site in fact were saying Floyd would never fight Maidana after what happened to Broner and then said Broner had more balls than Floyd for fighting Maidana. And now that he is fighting Maidana all those people have changed their tune.

Unfortunately those fights can’t be made due to promotional issues or network issues. That is the way it is. And not all NBA games are on free TV. Floyd right now isn’t at his peak right now either but his advantage over Mosley and Oscar is that he has taken less damage, more time off, is well schooled, and also hasn’t challenged himself like they have.

Jordan was always going to go play the best because he had to in order to be Champion. Floyd doesn’t have to. He gets to pick and choose.

Sure, it’s a team sport vs. single player sport so let’s use Tennis. Nadal, Federer, Serena Williams…all dont have their pick on who to fight.

If Floyd is going to fight once or twice a year, a paying costumer, a fight fan, should expect him to fight the best out there. Something awe inspiring.

Mayweather and Broner will win easily, because they have carefully chosen opponents for that purpose.

Of the three main fights, Khan-Collazo is the only potentially intriguing match-up on this card. It’s hard to say who will win. If Khan manages to stay on his feet he should be able to outpoint Collazo, but that’s a big “if”. Despite his low KO record, if Collazo has the power to seriously rattle Hatton and KO Ortiz, he should have more than enough to take Khan out of there — especially since he is a seasoned Welterweight whereas Khan has never fought at 147 before.

“Despite some calling into question Maidana’s chances, the WBC welterweight world champion believes the Santa Fe native’s victory over Adrien Broner to claim the WBA crown last December shows he’s not one to be overlooked.”

Floyd doesn’t “believe” that — he’s just trying to sell tickets and PPVs. He only ever says he’s expecting a tough fight when it’s patently a complete mismatch and he needs to convince potential PPV buyers that it’ll be competitive.

This fight won’t be competitive in the least, and anyone who pays to watch it is a gullible chump.

Floyd’s issue

Tomato Can and Happyboy, guys like you are the reasons that Floyd the runner is getting away with cherry picking one opponent after the other. Maidana won against Broner, a very overrated boxer, who has really not fought anybody. Maidana is a slugger, lost against boxers like Alexander, Kotelnik, Khan. Floyd is an embarrassment by picking this guy, who does not stand a chance against a running potshotter. Seriously, stop making these foolish comments!
If Floyd is so great, he should fight a boxer with skill, speed and power, which the flat-footed and green Canelo was not!
He should fight Martinez, Pac or at least one of the young up and coming welters, who haven’t lost. Maidana is really a light welterweight with limited skill. I pity you fools!

El Grand Campeon

Marcos Maidana, he’s gonna SHAKE UP THE WORLD, he’s gonna SHAKE UP THE WORLD, he’s gonna SHAKE UP THE WORLD when he KO’s Floyd Mayweather in round 11 to END ANY talk of a Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown! Marcos, being the standup type of guy he is, will give Floyd Mayweather a rematch and a chance to REDEEM himself…Adios amigos, adios!

Yup, 37 and considered as a cherry picker against a champion in his prime. What’s that say about the rest of the athletes in the sport?

Floyd has raised the bar so high that today a unification bout vs a 37yr old champ is considered a mismatch/ cherrypick.

Floyd’s issue

The fight is a joke. Maidana lost 2 years ago against Devon Alexander, 90-100, 90-100, 91-99 on the scorecards. He lost to Kotelnik and Khan. Floyd is the biggest joke on Earth, his fans and people buying his PPV fights are worse. Joke fight, don’t buy it folks, don’t get cheat….Maidana is made for Floyd to easily beat him by running and potshotting him…
