If Pacquiao was black he is just a Nikka with 5 losses like Zab Judah. Anyone care to touch this subject?

Anonymous… Pacquiao SHOULD face Porter… I mean, Porter is a big threat to beat Pac’s ass all over town.

That doesn’t mean the P4P NUMBER ONE shouldn’t fight his top welterweight threat (Porter) because Floyd already said he wouldn’t fight Pacquiao.. So fight Porter!!!!

Pacquiao is a very small welterweight and can barely make 145. Fighting Erislandy Lara is out of the question for Pac. Are you trying to get him killed?

I feel sorry for guys like Lara and Porter actually. They’re ready to kick ass and nobody is taking … except that naive kid Canelo. He probably thinks he can get his left hook on Lara, since Angulo got to EL with a couple hooks.

But Floyd is a 3 X World Champion at 154. Floyd is bigger and taller than Pacquiao. Lara is close to a natural matchup for Floyd size wise … Of course Floyd doesn’t want to get his ass beaten, so he won’t fight him.

Gentlemen, such hateful comments towards me is really uncalled for. I am entitled to my opinion as you are also. Please don’t take my posts so serious. Relax and know that any of my comments are just my opinion. Please don’t get so emotionally riled up just because I see things a certain way. I thought Maidana won the fight. I dislike Floyd Mayweather’s character, and I admire Manny Pacquiao. Have a great day gentlemen.

Marcos Maidana won the fight 116-114 without question. I watched it a few times without bias in any way and without the volume. Fans around the world are correct in saying Floyd Mayweather got away with robbery against Maidana as he has in the past against Oscar De La Hoya and Jose Luis Castillo. Floyd Mayweather is not looked upon as an undefeated fighter because he’s really not. He was hit, roughed up and his constant holding because he couldn’t deal with a tough fighter made him panic and hold on for life. Holding, hugging or tying up as many put it is illegal. The referee should have taken points away. Holding is like putting your hands up and telling your opponent that he’s too much to handle. Marcos Maidana won 5 of the first 6 rounds. Look at the replay and see for yourself. He was landing the jab on Floyd when he wanted to. Floyd was missing by miles, and many of his punches were off the mark. He did have a few clean ones, but the crowd screamed even though the punch was a glancing blow or didn’t land. Maidana was the better man, and Floyd and his fans know this. Some people need to learn how to score a professional boxing match not an amateur boxing match. Maidana was effective throughout the fight. The 114-114 scorecard was more like it, but the truth is that one blind judge that should be banned for life had Mayweather winning 117-111?? What a pathetic joke. Regardless, Mayweather has been exposed, and the boxing world knows full well why Mayweather never wanted to fight the legendary, 8 division boxing champion and Fighter of the Decade. I knew all along Floyd Mayweather could not deal with Manny’s fighting style. Manny would have simply knocked Floyd Mayweather out cold. Too fast, strong, and brutalizing power in this southpaw fighting machine. The debate is over. The great Manny Pacquiao is the unanimous best fighter of his era as the Fighter of The Decade voted on by the best sports writers in the country voted Manny Pacquiao as being the best. What we all saw on Saturday night finally answered the question. Who was better, Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao. The winner, Manny Pacquiao. His legacy will live forever. His fights are memorable and exciting. The boxing world loves this man. Manny Pacquiao is a living legend, and he obviously doesn’t need Floyd Mayweather for anything. Floyd Mayweather is done.

TARK, why aren’t you and idiot HECDOG calling for Pac to face Porter, Thurman and Lara also? If Pacquiao is about facing the best competition then why has he lined up matches with feather fisted Bradley, punchbag Rios and old man Marquez from here until 2020? He is as guilty as Floyd of facing hand picked competition.

Posted May 6, 2014 6:54 am

TARK

If Floyd is “The Best EVER” he should face great young fighters like Porter and Lara who are a genuine threat to beat him and possibly punch him out — instead of punching bags like Khan, Maidana, Hatton, Guerrero, and Ortiz — who are just too weak to get anybody out at welterweight. They all came up from lighter divisions.

Porter and Lara can put you OUT even if you’re a welterweight — and they can box your ears off to boot.

William says.., “Forget Khan. Maidana next and then Pac. Both he and Pac have to face even if they are past their best. That’s their fault for not getting it done sooner.

The young guns can hunt for fame on their own. Make a name on their own by fighting each other. There is enough around now to do that. Let the two Old Kings, Pac and May, battle it out and retire.”

Please don’t be so naive… Floyd has had many perfect opportunities to fight Pacquiao—and has invented one excuse after another…Pacquiao put in a special phone line for Floyd to call, “Whenever Floyd wants to stop being a coward he can call me.”

And don’t be crazy… Collazo was used as a patsy to get Khan a Floyd fight.. Collazo has ZERO and lost to best fighters he ever fought…including every round to an old Mosley… You KNOW Khan is going to get the shot.

Reigning champions aren’t unsually allowed to avoid the “young guns.” … If Floyd is “The Best EVER” he should face great young fighters like Porter and Lara who are a genuine threat to beat him — instead of punching bags like Khan, Maidana, Hatton, Guerrero, and Ortiz — who just don’t get anybody out.

Mbuyiseli my friend, not obsessed with Floyd, but dislike what he stands for. A man that was blessed with talent only to see him act the way he does and see how he treats people. He truly believes his money and material make him bigger and better than all humanity. The 24/7 and All Access shows people who Floyd Mayweather really is. He’s not putting on an act. He’s a hypocrite wearing diamond crosses and thanking God on occasion yet his mouth is full of garbage foul language and he has no shame when blatantly calling his own father every foul and degrading name in the book. Character in a person, especially a sports figure that has the attention of millions, has a better opportunity to live a good life and be a good role model to millions of kids and upcoming boxers, but acts like a fool and rambles about in his folly. I recall watching Floyd Mayweather as a young teen as an amateur and Olympian, and he was a very nice, modest humble kid. I watched him during the early stages of his career and his personality was very likable. He had a humble personality, and he looked to me like another Sugar Ray Leonard both inside and outside the ring. He then won his first title, and the hanger on’s started coming, and everyone started filling his head with all kinds of garbage. I began to see the beginning of what I thought would be a disaster of a potentially great fighter and role model as the promoters and his entourage of people came onto him like a bunch of vultures seeking their carcass. Floyd Mayweather then appeared to be believing everything, and then the ego started to come out louder and louder. The rest is history. We’ve all see what he portrays himself to be. The man today is a classless, egotistical, money hungry villain. Did you see what a jerk he was in the post fight press conference with his kiss but entourage behind him bowing at every word he said. Did you see Lil Wayne and the Mayweather camp trying to start fights with the Maidana camp as they were cheering through the hallway. I don’t need to get into Floyd Mayweather’s behavior because it’s all out there. He says things like Donald Sterlign is a great man? Putting his ex fiancee’s abortion document on Instagram? Calling Manny Pacquiao racist names. Laughing at fans because they pay money to see him fight. Throwing all his wealth in our faces is, and he has been consistent this this attitude and behavior the majority of his career. Floyd tries to act and speak well for about a minute, and then once someone asks him something or says something he doesn’t like, his real self comes back and begins degrading that person. Floyd Mayweather has rubbed people wrong, and as he says, he doesn’t care. Thank God for the world having a quality person like Manny Pacquiao. I admire and support this wonderful human being that is respectful, caring, loving, God fearing and is a humble, decent humble person that all of us can have admiration for. Just look at how he carries himself. Not one bad word. Not one word of disrespect for anyone. He never complains or cries. He never boasts about his money or materials. He gives and gives to those that are in need. Manny Pacquiao recognized the sin he had in his life at he turned away from it. He was a fallen man that took off the dirty clothes he had, and today he is a man with true character. Manny Pacquiao is loved and admired everywhere he goes, and for those that are jealous of him, he doesn’t sit well with. They try to take shots at him about his personal life. Laugh at his losses, suffering and struggles, but he continues to be a class act. He never changes. This is a good man. I hope this clears up my thoughts on Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. And just to add a little more to this. Manny Pacquiao is the best of all time. Floyd Mayweather proved to all of us that he would never have come close to beating Manny. Floyd is a skilled fighter, but he would have been knocked by the legendary, Manny Pacquiao, the only 8 division boxing champion in history. Hope my post helps you understand.

So racial gentlemen smh now my take money had problems bcuz maidana wild and dirty BUT maidana beats pac b cuz hes wild and powerful pac has no defensive ability to make m.m. miss so much. Hegdog the reason these scorecards are so similar is bcuz judges want to show no favorites yet they mess up Canelo fight was no close yet a draw on a card ?seems like vegas doesnt want money to win easily nobody pays to see a Shutout back to business now we bash money bcuz he had a tough fight ok what about drug testing, funny GLoves, bob arum and judges he addresses the problems in BOXING!!for those who say madaina won lets say its tru havent pac won funny decision s over JMM first fight he lost( draw?)yes boxer win funny decision dela hoya vrs Whittaker remember? My point money wasn’t dominant he lost twins no excuses however we has men that stuff bothers you if it dont try it then when u dont talk to nobody u will understand even in a rematch madaina still loses by decision if not by d.q. dirty fighter not a boxer remind s me of mayorga with better skills ppl if you watch m.m. missed a lot however money said it we dont want loaded gloves ala margarito /cotto b.t.w. pac said first drug testing make me weak now after getting ktfo now ill take the test?money ill give u 40 mill no. Now ill fight money for free pac make up your mind or is arum in control rumor is pac looking not to extend with arum lets hope so ..so that we fight fans can see money /pac in 2015 remember pac has Alvarado/Marquez winner then money

Gentlemen, I’m hoping that some of you MAYWEATHER fans can give me an answer to some information I’m going to share with you, and also some thoughts from Maidana fans that truly believe Maidana won. I’ve said on many occasions that Floyd fights in Las Vegas for a reason. He should have lost against Oscar, Castillo and Maidana. Someone please explain the same the following:

Floyd Mayweather beat Canelo Alvarez by the following judges score cards:
114-114
117-111
116-112

Floyd Mayweather beat Maidana last night by the following judges score cards:
114-114
117-111
116-112

Hmm………Coincidence????????????

Little Floydie looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown and quit in his corner when he was cut. His performance in the post fight press conference was like watching someone unravel mentally in front of one’s eyes.

No wonder he has been such a cherry picker at 147, the fake “retirement ” , the duck of Pacquiao , beating up jokes like Ortiz , Guerrero and Alvarez .

Fraudie is just lucky Maidana has always had average stamina , if Marcos was a welterweight Joe Frazier then Frauds ass was bacon .

Michaels an Idiot

You know nothing about boxing all those fighters you named tried to push Floyd around and got outclasses by actual boxing not clutching tactics. Floyd slipped all there punches and popped em back. If you knew anything you’d have said speed is the key to beating Floyd like Mosley who is the only one who ever landed a clean shot on him in 20yrs. PAC Thurman and Kahn are the only ones left with a chance to win a legitimate boxing match

Posted May 5, 2014 12:40 am

Meet Mr. Flinstone

His lack of respect towards Mayweather in the ring, showed a lack of respect towards the sport in general! That crazy madman style satisfied the hater lusts of the Mayweather haters, but it didnt prove Caveman knows how to actually fight/box Mayweather without cheating! I’ve never seen a rainbow punch that actually hooks going down behind an opponents head! The closest Ive seen to that craziness was Mayorga – as he doubled & tripled up on the same punches against Forrest. But even Mayarga wasnt as WILD as Mr. Flinstone!

The Haters will compliment this CRAZY delivery of wildness as a legitimite win because when it comes to Mayweather: anything an opponent can do without the referee complaining is LEGAL!! Mr. Flinstone really should have fought a tiger instead, it would have been more appropriate. His sparring partners were probably a bear, a tiger, and a vagrant they found close to the gym. It’d be interesting to see how PacROID* would deal with a wildman like Flint Cave!

Yes you guys can go a head and dismiss Maidana’s boxing skills but what you don’t realized is that even with Maidana’s boxing skill cannot compare to someone like Floyd, appearantly, it does not take much for Maidana to give Floyd some trouble. Imagine if some was more skilful as a boxer was in there last saturday night against Floyd instead of Maidana, Floyd would have probably lose, well, some even say Maidana won against Floyd so with that, even his caveman skill can best a The Best Ever boxer in Floyd.

Meet Mr. Flinstone

Maybe PacROID* can fight Jungle King and perhaps do a better job, BEFORE Mayweather get another crack at him! Caveman Maidana is feeling like a great big T-Rex right about now, his conditioning was superb, but his fighting was that of a disgruntled employee looking to rape his manager. The cave tactics had nothing to do with boxing, but everything to do with MMA! Drug Lord trainer Garcia supported this trumped up version of raptor grappling with custom made gloves – what a cheating farce!! Mr. Finstone will get his rematch, but he will now revert to roundhouse kicks and better rainbow Karate chops behind the head!! Mr. Flinstone is EXCITING!!!!

Posted May 4, 2014 11:21 pm

Maidana certainly gave the fans what they wanted last saturday night, even more so considering Maidana was only a shoe-in fighter who was thought to be an easy victim for Floyd’s boxing mastering. Floyd is probably feeling sorry to himself now after he mislead Khan into thinking he would be fighting him instead of Maidana. What a miscalculation it was. Floyd look silly against someone like Maidana whom Khan and Devon has already beaten in a convincing fashion.

Fighting Words

The way Miadana drove Mayweather to the rope and the way he cover up and tried to fight off the ropes, he did the exact same thing his Dad did when he fought SRL. Watch the Mayweather Sr. and Sugar Ray Leanard fight, Mayweather Jr. did the exact same thing, only difference, SRL made Mayweather Sr. look like a chump. I have said it before and I am saying it again. If a fighter really wants to beat Mayweather Jr. Watch the way SRL beat Mayweather Sr. The apple don’t fall too far from the tree, especially when that tree is working the corner.

Floyd did give fight-fans what they wanted by choosing the worthiest contender on a winning-streak, which (IMO) hasn’t necessarily come to an end. interestingly enough, last-night’s version of Khan would’ve been a handful for Floyd as well. either way, welter is DeeP and any worthy contender that makes his way to Floyd’s threshold has the potential to pose serious problems and challenges. bottomline, Maidana was never a cherrypick or soft-touch. he always figured to show up prepared for a serious Fight, which is precisely what Floyd didN’T avoid.

Yep, you are right… To all the scholars that say “Floyd won”. I doubt Maidana could do anything about bias or judges. One thing Maidana did was HIS JOB. he beat dents into Mayweather like nobody else has. And all the BS about Floyd gave them what they wanted to see,.. nah, he just took what was given to him beating-wise and on the judges cards. He said he will do it again in the ring after the fight then in the post fight presser,… Said something less definite. He had a tantrum about approved gloves, he was screaming at the ref and holding all night. Maidana walked him down all night. Anyone that thinks Mayweather would win lopsided in a rematch has rocks for brains.

That’s plagiarism Floyd.

Tommy Hearns started at welterweight and ended up Light heavyweight and Oscar Delohoya was Super Feather weight then climbed through the ranks and PLEASE don’t forget Bob Foster light heavyweight champion who took on heavy weight champion Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier , AND Please don’t forget Rocky Marciano 188 LB HEAVY Weight champion of the world and also UNDEFEATED , JASON it’s not size and the only difference between the fighters I mentioned today is one weight class, so, who now is being ignorant , before you post any more, educate what the hell you’re talking about… I hate ignorant people .. Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

When the Compubox stats are that close (difference of 9 punches landed), you really can’t use that as any sort of accurate indicator of who won. The Compubox system is not perfect. FMJ landed many feather-fisted jabs that shouldn’t carry the same weight on the score cards as hard, thudding body shots.

For the first time I’ve heard Mayweather complain about holding and hitting, head butts, and getting kneed. For the first time I saw Mayweather pressured to the point of not being able to keep keep away and out of harms way. The man is always in great shape and was always able to catch fighters as they came in and gave them a moment of pause with a great jab or laser lead right hand. Maidana is a rough and rugged fighter that walked through and too Mayweather all night. Mayweather stated that he wanted to give the fans what they wanted and go toe to toe. Cmon brother! A whole career of boxing smart and not caring what the fans think is over in one night. You can lie to us but be true to who you are as a boxer. Maidana fought like hell and roughed up Mayweather like no one has before. I think it was something more than Maidana walking him down. Age and 17 years of doing this may have creeped up on him last night. I caught myself thinking what was wrong with him, he looked in great shape. Age catches up with all of us and it maybe catching up with Floyd Jr.

I’m still trying to figure out how you could score any of the first 6 for Floyd. He didn’t really come on until the second half. The first 6 was basically him holding and complaining to the ref with his back to the ropes. Get mauled for for 230 and land 2 or 3 pot shots in the last 30 seconds and get awarded the round. That ain’t right.

These posts are getting more and more ridiculous, The fight
is over, Floyd won, it was close and both fighters want a rematch which by the way is GREAT for both and also for the sport ,unlike other fighters who think they’re champions but won’t fight opponents who beat them ( Khan’s loss to Danny Garcia ) Let’s put it to rest and see what happens in the future, That weight class has many champions and top contenders so, let’s give them all credit and I’m making specific reference to Porter ( IBF champion, in his own right ) who NO ONE wants to fight or even mention…. Championship Boxing is fighting everyone not only the elite of elite Mayweather. Again, NO, Khan doesn’t deserve a shot and Pacquio should call out Lara or Canelo or Porter or even Danny Garcia but, NOoooo, everyone wants a shot at Mayweather, In short, it sucks being you… how does it feel to want ?? Remember you’ve got to earn a shot at the very best…. Boxingdictionary.com …”The Language of the Ring “

He did his best against a 37 years old champion…jejeje and his best job was not enough for winning!

This guy can’t beat technical boxers like Alexander, Khan or Floyd..but he really can beat other guys like Soto Karas or Morales. No doubt that he is very strong, probably the stronger guy in his division, but fortunately boxing is not always about the stronger guy..

There has always existed an unwritten rule in boxing, to beat a champ you have to really convincingly beat them. Add to that that Mayweather is such a money machine you really have to knock him out to win and I’m not even sure that would be enough. Chino lost.

The ridiculous Mayweather code and blue print was deciphered last night by the Victorious warrior, Marcos Maidana, Actually there was no code because Oscar and Castillo had already beaten Floyd Mayweather, but the true code to defeat Mayweather is as follows: Never hire Nevada judges in any of Floyd Mayweather’s fight, never fight Floyd in Las Vegas, keep 24 hour surveillance on the NSAC and Floyd Mayweather so they cannot have any personal talks between them regarding fights, and hire a referee that actually takes points away and warns Floyd for holding so much. Holding is illegal in boxing. That’s why there is a referee. Marcos Maidana just simply made it more obvious to boxing fans that Mayweather is more hype than substance when fighting someone that has no respect for his boxing ability or power. There’s really nothing to like about Floyd Mayweather the person. Last night, the fans in attendance we’re booing the decision loudly. There was even a riot type incident that led to some people getting hurt. Floyd Mayweather proved to the boxing world that he is a very good boxer, but far from being. A one dimensional fighter like Maidana ran right through him. Yes he roughed him up a bit, but Floyd had no room for complaining after he sucker punched a defenseless Victor Ortiz in their fight. Floyd Mayweather is a whining, crying complaining, spoiled disrespectful boxer and human being. He lacks any decency as a person, and the dislike people have for him is deserved. Earlier Floyd had the audacity to say that the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling was a great guy???? Later in the week he posted the Instagram picture of the abortion his ex fiancee supposedly had. He then tops it off in the post fight press conference by criticizing Marcos Maidana in every way. This is a classless individual that has never grown up. Floyd Mayweather proved in his fight last night that he cannot stand alongside the great fighters like, Hearns, Duran, Leonard, Benitez, Pacquiao, Mosely, Oscar, Robinson and many more. Floyd should rank in the bottom half of the 50 best fighters of all time. Floyd is as I have said, a great athlete, but not a true fighter. He proved this last night. Others had beaten Maidana in much more convincing ways. Marcos Maidana is the new king as long as he avoids fighting the legendary Manny Pacquiao. The only 8 division Boxing champion in history. The true warrior that avoids no one and the greatest fighter of all time. The Mayweather myth is just that, a myth.

Posted May 4, 2014 6:05 pm

No, Floyd, was losing the early rounds because his style of stick and jab, potshot was not working. It was in the later rounds he felt he needed to do something to catch up that’s why he took the risk to put some more effort fighting Maidana head on. His masterful boxing style was not working agaisnt Maidana he had to try something out, brawl and hold.

Posted May 4, 2014 6:01 pm

Truth

When watching the fight last night, I felt it was a close fight although I thought Mayweather won fairly clearly.

I re-watched online and I gave Maidana exactly ONE round! The fifth. If that guy landed 221 punches I’m blind. More like 21. Pretty much every body punch went to Mayweather’s kidneys, and every head shot was a rabbit punch. I had the 2nd and 12th even, and even the first round with Maidana throwing 100 shots, he might have landed 5, and Mayweather was more effective.

The crank wasn’t the guy who had it 117-110 that was about even, the crank was the one who had it a draw.

Before the fight, people were going on and on about “oh, Mayweather owns Vegas”, and “oh…he’s got a black ref” but for the second fight in a row, one of the judges, and in this case Tony Weeks, seemed to be for the opponent. I can’t believe he let all of those fouls go for 12 rounds.

I think even the Showtime commentators are sick of Mayweather as they seemed to be hyping every punch Maidana landed on the back of his head.

Aggression doesn’t win fights, EFFECTIVE aggression does, and Maidana was totally effective all night. Boxing fans tend to mistake ACTIVITY for ACHIEVEMENT.

Floyd got the decision but he didn’t win the fight in the ring. Personally I had it 6-5-1 in rounds for Marcos Maidana. Yeah, MM was rough barrelling forward throwing looping punches with Floyd on the ropes, but at least he was active and Floyd wasn’t doing enough in most of the rounds. Maidana won nearly all the early rounds and Mayweather never caught up. Mayweather did do better later on and it was close though by the end and the judge who called it a draw was the nearest to the mark. Floyd is feeling his age maybe too. It will catch up to everyone. By the way,the other judges had it far too wide for Floyd and they shouldn’t work again, well not as judges anyway! Maidana deserves a rematch, but he’ll need to KO FMJ and that ain’t likely.

Maidana beat Mayweather. Fact is fact. People don’t know that Mayweather went to the ropes due to pressure because it is always difficult to fight backwards and the only solution is to hang on the ropes. Almost all of you here haven’t fought your own peer on the street before let a lone putting on a glove in the gym. Let’s bet next time they fought Maidana would still drive him into the ropes to finish him. Canelo isn’t a pressure fighter, and so he couldn’t drive Mayweather to the ropes. Cotto drove Mayweather to the ropes. Maidana won rounds 1-5 squarely and won some rounds in 6-12 of the remaining 7 rounds do the simple arithmetic yourself and get back to watch the fight again.

It was either a draw or Floyd 7 rnds to 5, however rather than complaining about tony weeks Floyd should have thanked him after the fight. In all Floyd’s fights he picks a black referee that allows him to hold on the inside for 12 rnds, not sure if its a race thing as to why these refs allow Floyd to hold so much or if its just they admire him so much but it’s shocking that he is never even warned for it

When is Joe Public going to wake up? Floyd did not have a September opponent as Khan is doing Ramadan and won’t be primed til next May. What better way to guarantee not only another match but a massive payday as he waits for Khan than to do just enough to defeat Maidana and then get 2 for 1. May now has fights 47 and 48 lined up for Showtime, with only one other fight to fill.
As someone wrote on here Controversy creates cash. Well Floyd just turned a regular PPV into a monster sequel with all those rabid fans who feel he lost buying the return and all the other fans who passed eager to shell out probably $10 bucks more for the PPV return. Mayweather, TMT, Showtime and GBP will make a killing financially and Mayweather will do he probably should have done first time out and hold ring centre and beat Maidana in the same style he built another Latin bull, Carlos Baldomir. Floyd already knows he schooled Maidana from ring centre digging hurtful shots to his ribs.
It was fitting he had TP Barnum in attendance because I believe Mayweather pulled the ultimate trick that every promoter has wanted to do. He has convinced everyone to shell out again for what will be a one-sided masterclass in the September return.
As much as haters hate Floyd, he sure know how to make money out of thin air. he’s lined up his calendar until May 2015 and probably, possibly September 2015 he will go out facing Pacquiao for stupid, stupid money, laughing his way to the bank!

If there is a rematch and I, like others, hope there is , Maidana ahd to work on keeping his punches under control,He used up a lot of energy on wasting punches that were too wide and wild, that’s what the difference between the 2 fighters were ..Mayweather had more control over his punches and kept composed as Maidana was throwing a lot of crazy shots, non that hit their mark.. The ONLY thing Floyd has to do the next fight is keep the fight in the center of the ring, in which he clearly outboxes Maidaina. Floyd was against the ropes too much in the fight, and much of that was of his own doing. Yes, Maidaina was very aggressive, but he threw over 800 punches and landed a little over 200 punches, so from a percentage standpoint, he only landed about 25 percent of his shots. As usual, Floyd landed about 50 percent of his shots. A lot of Maidaina punches was arm punches, hip punches, back punches, and punches on top of his head. I don’t think I’ve ever saw someone trying to land on top on someone’s head.

Manny Pacquiao is still prime and proved it in his last 2 fights.

What do you want from Pacquiao, a guy who strarted as a flyweight? To blow out welterweights? That’s not going to happen. Manny outspeeds and outboxes people at 147. That’s the best he can do with big welterweights. He’s much smaller than they are. I’ll be Pacman would outpoint Maidana 118-110.

Maidana applied pressure but took appropriate breaks… He stepped back, used his jab, tired to defend, made Floyd lead at times, and gathered himself for another all-out assault … but MM was lucky he wasn’t assessed points for deliberate rule infractions. Marcos is not a big puncher. He couldn’t even take out doddering Erik Morales — and the idea that he would knock Pacquiao out is stupid. He wasn’t hurting Floyd either. Porter and Matthysse are much harder punchers. Even Thurman is.

Tony Weeks played it fair. He warned Floyd for elbows and forearms — as well as showing remarkable restraint with penalizing a very viciously fouling Maidana.

CurlyQ.Howard

The difference in the Mayweather vs Maidana and the Mayweather vs Canelo fights is that Maidana came to fight and did fight throughout the entire fight: he may have looked sloppy; he may have hit behind the head; he may have thrown low blows; he certainly threw many, many punches with more missing than connecting, but Maidana did fight with all his heart, and that was the difference in the two fights as Canelo Alvarez did not fight in his bout with Floyd- instead choosing to stand around posing as if he were young Ronnie Howard on the set of Happy Days waiting for Fonzie to save the day. Having watched the fight twice, I do believe that Floyd earned the win, but I will not begrudge any Maidana fan’s view that Marcos won. It all depends on how a fan scored the fight. As I see it, there must be a rematch, and I hope that it will be the September fight that Floyd has set. It ought to do strong PPV numbers, and that is what Floyd is looking for. What will be interesting, and what the fans of both fighters will be hoping for is that the rematch once again yields a very competitive fight, but that the rematch provides a clear victor.

Enjoyable fight,Mayweather did just alittle bit moore to win ,IMO but Maidana was his toughest fight yet, showed heart and went all out! I would like to see a rematch!

Tarver

Shades of Tarver/Jones I except Maidana is younger.
Jones was had one eye hurt as well, looked old over night, and had to gut it out in the Championship rounds to pull off the victory in a close fight. And in the end, because Superman looked vulnerable, some fans thought he lost setting up a rematch because Superman’s ego is to big not to. History repeating itself, hope not. All these ATG going down. Pac was knocked out cold although that was against a fighter older and more declined then him but still boxing has a way to show you how nature is__Harsh.
Nobody stays young and fresh forever. Each day could be the end.

The even sadder part to all of this is that Jones was discredited after that fight and the rematch especially despite having a long run years before while he was younger and fresher. Pac was seen as exposed. Tyson was seen as exposed.
I can’t recall if SRR and Louis were seen as exposed since I wasn’t around although some fans argue that Louis would have always lost to Marciano but anyway, its crazy how some remember fighters at their best while others don’t. Ali is both.

Retire on top is what I’m saying. Don’t let the fans see you when you are aging. Get your wins, get your money and retire in your prime like Barry Sanders and Jim Brown.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Maidana certainly did win a few rounds after the sixth. Some of those were very close rounds, but you have to give Chino credit for all the body punches and short chopping shots he was landing throughout the fight — especially when he had FMJ on the ropes.

Remember how people expected Roy to destroy Tarver in their rematch. Maidana’s confidence is at an all time high and he don’t respect nothing Floyd is offering. Floyd will make adjustments but MM might up his aggression. Best to move on with someone else. The signs aint good.

We don’t really need to bring up all the holding Mayweather was doing.

Scott, he didn’t hurt him once? Right, he hurt him a lot. That’s why he was screaming at the ref all night. It’s also why he was cut over the eye, bleeding from his nose after the first round and cut over the bridge of his nose. Nah,… He wasn’t hurt..

Maidana roughed him up made it scrappy landed the odd few shots! Facts he didn’t hurt or startle Mayweather once and was picked off with quality precise timed shots wasant the best of fights but Floyd done his job!!!! And for the record if they do have a rematch i think Floyd will destroy him!!!!!! This time round even

Mayweather was yelling about gloves and apparently threatened to pull out of the fight. He was griping at the ref the whole fight. That’s not how a champ acts. Though I give him credit for remaining clean all night.

I saw Mayweather get roughed up last night 90% of the fight. The 2 judges were out of their minds IMO with those scores for Mayweather!

there goes the footprint on how to beat Floyd. that’s the reason Floyd have avoided pac at all cost. he will be beaten by pac, a southpaw with aggression, power, and speed. team Floyd and everyone in the boxing business knows this, except for floydiot fans.

Maidana didn’t win but perhaps the gloves did make a difference, after all, his real advantage over Floyd is power in both hands. Not using his punchers gloves may have taken some steam off those shots that landed. But even still, Floyd’s face was pretty marked up. After seeing last night’s fight, I am more convinced that a prime Manny would have beaten Floyd. Manny is MUCH faster, used to have more pop than Maindana, and was every bit as awkward and relentless in his attack. Of course, that Manny has diminished.
Posted May 4, 2014 2:36 pm

Floyd was better years ago as well. Dude is nearing 38.

but its fair to say that we don’t know since we also saw JMM battle it out in tough fights against Manny and even knock him out.

Styles make fights. Manny is susceptible to counter punchers, Floyd, maybe pressure fighters. Of course, Manny isn’t 165 on fight-night, doesn’t throw over hand punches to the back of the head, knee to the face, smother and so on. But he does possess speed, agility, and volume to bother Floyd.

We just don’t know.

Floyd wasn’t effective with the Jab because Maidana smothering him like Ricky did. That’s not Pac’s style. he also doesn’t foul like Ricky and Maidana.

9 more landed punches equals clear cut victory. Workrate, aggression, pushing the fight means nothing. Those extra 9 punches did the trick.

So why the need for Floyd to mention rematch? Maidana is not my guy. To me he is garbage, but Floyd got mauled AT LEAST 6 rounds. Floyd knows.
Posted May 4, 2014 2:43 pm

Because unlike Manny/Roach with JMM, if the fans boo and see a closer fight, Floyd will ponder a rematch. He did it with Castillo and right away. Although with that fight, that was a legit close/iffy fight and early in his career. At 37, having a close fight, and you not getting any younger, and the opponent now having even more confidence he can beat you, it doesn’t always end well for the aging veteran.

Come on guys dont get carried away, sure maidana done well better than anyone in years but he didn’t win. I suspect a rematch would be similar to this fight, Floyd has definitely lost footspeed.

Pacquiao definitely will knock out Floyd

Even so (which I doubt Mayweather by blowout, highly), it doesn’t erase what we saw last night. A game Maidana was relentless, press the action and roughed Mayweather up. Mayweather is a top tier fighter. He trains as hard as possible. You can’t train for unpredictable. He’s made his career off of controlling the action by controlling the engagements and tempo and being on his bicycle with defense. A relentless fighter that walks him down with power will always do the most damage. You can’t outbox FMJ, it just doesn’t happen. The only way to beat Floyd is the plan maidana used relentless pressure and bang his body all over.

Clearly Pacquiao will knock out Mayweather in the 1st round . Mayweather obviously is not that good against A boxers like the best in the land Pacquiao.

What’s the point of this article? Maidana lost. He had his moments of grappling, and bending arms, and the rules and he lost. Let’s all accept it and move on.

So I guess the crowd at the arena were haters. Why is Floyd talking rematch? I mean if it was a clear cut victory.

I bet my house Mayflower wont come near Maidana ever again. Next will be Khan or something and maybe call it a day.

Credit to maidana I still don’t rate him though! Mayweather definitely won anyone who says different is just a hater or has racial issues.

To much corruption in boxing. Those few mere clean punches fraud threw weren’t enough to justify a victory over maidana.

Mayweather will really do a number on maidana next time, trust a complete blowout

Posted May 4, 2014 2:34 pm

Mook

This article is correct and at least doesn’t claim that Maidana won the fight itself (he really didn’t). Mayweather will be better next time – he won’t start so slowly – but so will Maidana – he’ll be better conditioned. Mayweather clearly struggles with a fighter that is both unpredictable and, now, under a great trainer, well schooled as well. a nasty combination for someone who at 37 must have thought he’d seen everything.
