Tark each and every time a fighter steps into the ring he “puts it all on the line”. Your comment is an insult to anyone who has ever boxed. Floyd defeated Maidana. Manny Pacquiao did NOT defeat Juan Manuel Marquez in their 3rd fight. Maidana threw 800 punches and still got outlanded by Floyd. No one will be clamoring for a rematch because they know Mayweather will simply win by a wider margin. Pactards are hilarious. They want Floyd to fight Maidana again because they know Manny does not stand a chance against Floyd.Posted May 8, 2014 6:25 pm

And Floyd will continue to adjust and do what he needs to do. If anything this is bad news for Pacquiao if they meet. Manny a smaller guy that Floyd will muscle around. Funny how Pactards say you can’t go by Mayweather v Marquez to predict a Pacquiao outcome yet they are doing it with an uncommon opponent in Maidana.Posted May 8, 2014 11:38 am
Pratt a mature and fair observation. Maidana was what, 164 lbs the night of the fight? Floyd didn’t drain him and basically fought a middleweight and did not get dropped or brutally knocked out ahem…Posted May 8, 2014 11:35 am
Coot and how many of those 8 did he unify? Zero! He is an 8 time titleist not an 8 time champion plus he had to drain opponents. Ever heard of the multiple alphabet belts and more weight classes than at any time in history? A most irritating Pactard trait is how they twist boxing history to fit their own agenda.Posted May 8, 2014 11:32 am
I am not hating on Floyd. I am glad to see him in a tough fight and bleed a little bit, and it shows he is man just like the rest of us. A tough fight that could have gone to a draw and I give Floyd some creds on this one. And I really do not want to see a rematch because FM will have MM’s number in the next one, I would rather see FM fight Manny or King Khan. Credits to FM from a not so fan FM man, but a reality checker fan man. Sow what I am sayin? FM did what he had to do to win, thats all.Posted May 8, 2014 11:28 am

MANILA, Philippines – An uncle of Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is now a subject of a police manhunt after allegedly shooting dead his neighbor in Polomolok, South Cotabato over the weekend.
“Last week, Mayweather had his 90-day prison sentence delayed until June 1. His reps moved for a delay because Mayweather had a contractual obligation to fight in Las Vegas on May 5, an event that would give the city a considerable economic boost.
Sorry Pactards, Floyd would be favored over any fighter from 147 to 160. Just face the facts. Life would be much easier if you just accept the fact that Manny is a washed up 5 time loser LOLPosted May 7, 2014 7:55 pm

Interesting. Floyd is in a tough, competitive fight and clearly wins and look at the reaction he gets. Manny has 5 losses and people act like he is an undefeated destroyer. If Floyd IS protective of his record, it’s no wonder he is! If Mayweather had 5 losses and 3 by knockout, he’s fightiing on ESPN 2 for 25 thousand dollars. This is reverse racism at work. Since there will never be another Filipino boxing champion (Rachel ruined Nonito) Manny gets special treatment. Even Larry Merchant said he was told to “build Manny up”Posted May 7, 2014 7:14 pm

Coot 5 losses by the age of 33 or 34 and 3 by brutal knockout and being one dimensional and never solving your biggest rival and probably losing to Sanchez and Hussein and ducking many slick boxers on the way up and waiting for Mayweather to beat someone first then you fight them and brag that you won easier and winning 8 bogus titles in an era when they are a dime a dozen and not unifying one of them…if thats your definition if greatness then you are filipino, stupid or both.Posted May 7, 2014 4:23 pm
@ Boxing 101: Yeah right… So? Let the talks commence again now, then we’ll see who refuses what… Because everybody already knows that to intentionally cause another gratuitous rift in the negotiations, Floyd will insult Manny’s and our intellect by yet again, refusing to agree that Manny deserves just as much of the spoils as Floyd does… Then Floyd and all his minions will try yet again to blame Manny for not being stupid enough to take $40 million up front but no backend PPV, while Floyd walks away with $55 million and MOST of the PPV, when truth be told, and despite Floyd’s overrated, way overhyped zero-loss record, Manny is the one deserves equal bidding, if not the lion’s share, due to the simple fact that unlike Floyd, Manny gives exciting fights, has never once faked retirement to avoid fights, (despite having a day job as a congressman), and who has for the majority of his career, fought 2 or 3 times a year, to Floyd’s average 1 maybe 2 times, when he’s NOT fake retired.Posted May 7, 2014 3:31 pm
I often point out that it was Manny Pacquiao, and not Floyd Mayweather who pulled out of the March 2010 fight after Mayweather had agreed to the purse, and even Manny wanting Floyd to pay a 10 million dollar fine per pound over the 147 pound weight limit. Freddie Roach somewhat balked because he said Manny had got his eardrum busted by Miguel Cotto and it needed it more time to heal. Then Floyd brought up the Olympic style drug testing issue, Manny said “I do not want to be dictated to”, and pulled out of the fight. All this is well documented.
Also, Manny seems to have this penchant for calling out Floyd Mayweather while negotiating with other fighters. It’s also well known that Manny’s promoter Bob Arum, and Floyd Mayweather absolutely despise one another and that’s not helping matters.Posted May 7, 2014 2:56 pm
• Oscar the Cross Dressa. You can find more pics of this dude in lingerie than Rihanna! In his biggest fights, Oscar got owned. He ran from Felix Trinidad in the last few rounds like a coward, he was too busy making a gay record to train for Shane Mosley, in the rematch, he says he beat Mosley, but the record books show otherwise, Floyd Mayweather seemed to “carry” Oscar, and seemed to just turn it on when he felt like it. Bernard Hopkins had Oscar rolling on the ground like a dog in heat after a body shot (and if you recall, Oscar once said “black fighters can’t take body shots”). Manny Pacquiao gave Oscar the beating of his life, and looking back, Pernell Whitaker and Ike Quartey deserved decisions over Oscar. Oscar needs to stay away from the crack and hennessey.Posted May 7, 2014 2:50 pm
Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Best Ever)
Notice how Ali sent a tweet to FMJ urging him to take the fight with PacMan, but didn’t send a tweet to Pac urging him take the fight with FMJ? Because unlike these star-struck blind Mayfeather fan-boyz on ESB — even old, mentally impaired Ali knows what’s up. He’s knows that it’s Floyd who’s been ducking all these years and doesn’t like he’s now calling himself TBE.
Of course Ali was being nice and diplomatic about it, but that was his way of telling FMJ to grow a pair, man-up and prove that he’s the GOAT — if he dares to continue calling himself that after losing to Maidana (Class-B, not elite).Posted May 7, 2014 2:45 pm
@ SREDMOND: Haaaah!! Yeah right! Nice try at keeping Floyd safe from and long earned and deserved Pac-style beat-down… I notice there’s a lot of Floydiacs trying to disqualify Pacquiao lately… LOL!!!

The Pacquaio fight is a tired subject, it’s not happening and Manny is not duck worthy he would not fare as well as Maidana at this point and Maidana lost sporting an extra 20 pounds and a non stop attack. PAC Man had no physical advantages to exploit against Mayweather and the fact is his ability to be beat has been documented, even a SUPER light puncher like Bradley shook him up and made him cautious.. The politics that prevent GBP and TR fighters from clashing remain in place now and likely will for the foreseeable future..PAC Man is gonna fight the Marquez vs Alvarado winner and Floyd will fight Maidana, Khan or Mayberry Garcia… Let it goPosted May 7, 2014 9:29 am
Even ‘The Greatest’, Ali, is tired of Floyd ducking Manny!Posted May 7, 2014 9:23 am
Oscar, Maidana, and Castillo all have one thing in common they could not beat Floyd Mayweather Jr and basically wanted to substitute largely ineffective aggression for clean punching.. Reality is that all these men were outboxed despite varying degrees of success, fact is that Floyd is a fierce competitor who despite 15,000 online “blueprints” created by an assortment of boneheads has never given up his 0, Father Time is now the most dangerous foe now not the next so called answer to the “May Vinci Code”Posted May 7, 2014 6:23 am
Te Tumbo, Oscar was once a Great fighter and his stand against Quartey was to be admired but just like his fight with Vargas he was then a YOUNG man no excuses to be had.. Floyd Mayweather has extra gears and he is 37, Cotto, Canelo and Maidana all saw late round fury and accuracy that Oscar could not have produced with his well known stamina issues. I thought he boxed Trinidad mindless, yet he had to close meekly because by his own admission he was exhausted Oscar is not the class of athlete that Floyd Mayweather is, this has been proven..Posted May 7, 2014 6:09 am

Manny Pacquiao showcased his brilliant boxing skills in both the Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley fights. His graceful movement and technical sharp shooting punches left fans speechless. Manny Pacquiao had rewarded boxing fans for 10 plus years using a ferocious, aggressive, hurricane type fighting style that had never been seen before. His fights were exciting and dynamic. Fans got more than their money’s worth watching the greatest pure fighter of all time dissect , dismantle and destroy every opponent he faced. Manny Pacquiao then tricked us all by coming out and overwhelming Bradley and Rios with a boxing style that reminded us fans of the great Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard. Manny Pacquiao’s boxing was pure beauty. He was a Leonardo Da vinci painting the Mona Lisa. His transformation shocked us all, which led many to believe that Manny Pacquiao was not only the greatest pure fighter of all time but also the best boxer. Saturday night’s fight spoke volumes about the limitations of Floyd Mayweather and why he could never have beaten Manny Pacquiao. You must understand that Floyd actually tried fighting, something Manny has been doing for years. Marcos Maidana had Floyd hugging and holding on for life, which basically showed fans his fear and insecurity of fighting in a mano y mano type of fight. Floyd Mayweather tried to be macho, and show fight fans that he was tough. What he did was show us that he lacks the confidence and courage to win on another man’s turf. He cannot make the adjustment as his little brother Adrien Broner also failed at. Maidana on the other handed wanted Floyd to stand and fight and prove his worth as a true fighting warrior. Floyd Mayweather failed. And Manny Pacquiao, the greatest warrior to ever step into the ring made the adjustment from fighter to boxer with ease. He boxed with inspirational boxing techniques that had millions of fight fans tearing up. Manny proved he could change his style, Floyd showed us that he couldn’t. Holding on for dear life told true fight fans that he wanted no part of a real fight. He basically surrendered and threw in the towel. Boxing is about true warrior that don’t give up. They fight to the end. They have no quit in them. They would rather go down on their shield. Floyd Mayweather will never reach the heights of Manny Pacquiao. Manny is a true fighter. He is a monument to be saluted every time you see him. Stand up and salute the little big man. Boxing Historians can place a picture of Manny Pacquiao right next to the word Greatness. “can you imagine ODH in a fight of that intensity turning up the heat in the latter rounds and blasting away at his younger/stronger opponent?” Yeh, v. Ike Quartey who DLH dropped and punched the holy piss and crap out of in the 12th and final round of their fight. one of his most glorious wins. even a couple of his “losses” are virtual highlights. DLH was the first to expose Trinidud with “the Blueprint” and his rematch loss to Mosley was a scorecard travesty compounded by Shane’s subsequent admission that he illegally enhanced for that bout and who knows how many others above 135lbs (Margarito?). anyway, if DLH had retired following the TriniDud Robbery he would still be considered an ATG just for going up from 130lbs to 147lbs in an extraordinarily brief time-span during which he faced and defeated the three best welterweights (Whittaker, Quartey, Trinidud) from the hottest division in boxing, who were all established P4P-champions at the time DLH defeated them. Btw, Chavez was a two-time 140lb-champ, with 16 defenses, and enjoyed a 16-fight advantage in the division when DLH defeated him; there was talk of DLH challenging Randall for his WBA-belt but Randall lost it twice during DLH’s tenure at 140lbs; DLH was preparing to challenge IBF-champ Tszyu before Tszyu got KTFO by Vince Phillips. DLH was also ready to fight Wright IF he hadn’t of turned down a career high payday. during that time, Gatti was the only overmatched opponent that DLH faced but there were more than a few who favored Gatti in that matchup, which took place four years before Floyd fought Gatti. as a fighter, DLH is an ATG. as a person? he’s got issues.Posted May 6, 2014 10:32 pm

Cry Baby Oscar!!
Cross Dresser is venting hard! He ALWAYS lost the BIG ones (Atlas’ quote) and is dealing with it in an envious way, a way that is devoid of character & humility. He lost to Sturm, Quartay, & Sweat pea, so why would he call Mayweather out? Oscar ADMITTED he didnt use the jab to set ANYTHING up! He basically bum rushed the smaller Mayweather the ENTIRE fight like a frenetic possessed stalker that really had NO PLAN! Punching inaccurately on the sides with pitty pat arm shots everytime you back the smaller man into the ropes does not constitute a win.
You establish a win by setting up punches with a jab while earning points with accurate punching to the face & body….Instead, Del La Hoya fought like a nervous Tazmanian fruitfly with NO PLAN WHATSOEVER!!! Didnt he recently just come from some sort of detox course used to help him become more appreciative!?? All of a sudden he wants to appreciate Arum & dislike Mayweather; his time away seemed to be more filled with reflection of his failures, & a bitter outlook,…..theres STILL HOPE though, and its not in trying to bring a past opponent down to satisfy some MISSED opportunities! Oscar “should be” done – concerning that weird cross dressing he was into! Oscar hasnt changed, he just had a vacation.Posted May 6, 2014 9:23 pm

Oscars opinion of Mayweather is WORTHLESS and loaded with bias, he was cumming all over himself when Shane shook Floyd up as if it somehow made his loss disappear.. He has touted everyones ability to defeat Mayweather and he has made excuses for his most notable losses using everything from making weight to his love of womans attire.. I respected Oscar alot as a fighter but his personal weaknesses are tearing him down… Fact is that Floyd Mayweather is a GREATER and more talented pugilist that ODH ever was and never needed an excuse to explain away his losses… I am the first to say that ODH was jobbed on at least 2 occasions but he is looking like a SMALL man trying to book himself a win against Floyd and give one to Maidana and Castillo while he is at it…Posted May 6, 2014 3:20 pm
Oscar De La Hoya says.., “You have to realize that records don’t mean anything in today’s world. Don’t forget Julio Cesar Chavez was 87-0 before he lost his first.”
Oscar has been the one saying Floyd may be the best of all time. Now he’s saying his record doesn’t mean anything and he lost 3 fights … Floyd fought a bad fight. He looked slow. He can be beaten. That doesn’t mean he’s not the GOAT.
Ray Robinson looked slower than HELL versus Ralph Jones.
Ray Leonard looked slow as molasses versus Terry Norris.
Gene Tunney looked slow in his first Harry Greb fight.
Larry Holmes looked super slow in Michael Spinks 1.
Ali looked slow as Hell in the 1st Norton fight.
Willie Pep looked uncharacteristically slow against Sammy Angott.
Mayweather will be back in form for his next fight… Of course he would really need to be if he ever fights Lara… Porter… or Pacquiao… Because they’re a lot faster and more skilled than Maidana … What Floyd needs is better competition. Maidana just lacks the skills to beat him.Posted May 6, 2014 3:13 pm
Marcos Maidana should be thanked for pressing Mayweather to show his GRIT and his overall GREATNESS, can you imagine ODH in a fight of that intensity turning up the heat in the latter rounds and blasting away at his younger/stronger opponent? Only equivalent for Oscar was when he stepped it up and knocked out Fernando Vargas but then again ODH was ONLY 30 years old whereas Mayweather was 37 and unlike Vargas, Maidana has NEVER been stopped.. At the end Maidana was left a bit the beggar wanting credit for aggression and missed punches while it was his head that chomped on the clean leather… Maidana is a HARD night for anyone and that cannot be denied but his exploits are being overstated because he was in the ring with a virtuoso boxer who usually outclasses opponents so badly people wonder if they are involved in the same sport.Posted May 6, 2014 2:51 pm

Maidana rematch is more likely. Also, Floyd will take who can bring him the most money. Especially since Showtime is going to demand him to live up to his deal per fight. Floyd may be able to bring 1 million on his own but he needs someone to boost it higher than that every other fight.
Khan could do that, maybe.
Pac could certainly do it.
Maidana can now do it in the rematch.Posted May 6, 2014 11:57 am
This is why Floyd never had the balls to fight KT. I look at the competition around 140-147 etc and there is still no one that would even match a prime KT. I give it to floyd, he stays composed and doesn´t through unnecessary punches. He just picks his time to throw ones that will count and not wear himself out. Tszyu was exactly the same but had much better accuracy than any fighter he faced or was out there. Most of these look like they are out of there depth on the big stage
Kostya Tszyu disagrees with you. He even said if he wanted a fight with Floyd all he had to do is call him.
At the time, Floyd was on HBO, Tszyu was on Showtime. The deal was simple: Floyd wins a title against Gatti on HBO, Tszyu takes his mandatory and the HUGE money to fight Hatton. Both win, both stocks go up, HBO and Showtime make a PPV fight together unless one can be bought out.
Tszyu is nothing like Maidana. That’s where people are confusing it with Manny as well. Neither Tszyu or Manny are maulers. They don’t push you against the ropes. Both can back you up with punches and movement, but neither are maidana who will start winging non-stop punches at you while grappling you up if he has to and push you against the ropes with his head against your chest.
Tszyu is conventional. He liked to box strategically. He also needs room for his big right hand.
Also remember, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 37 YEAR OLD FLOYD MAYWEATHER AND NOT A 27 YEAR OLD FLOYD MAYWEATHER.
Seriously folks. How many ATG were still at their best at 37? NONE. They were all past their best including Floyd. The only difference, Floyd is still winning but he is going to have more and more trouble against the young guns.Posted May 6, 2014 11:54 am

Marcos Maidana won the fight 116-114 without question. I watched it a few times without bias in any way and without the volume. Fans around the world are correct in saying Floyd Mayweather got away with robbery against Maidana as he has in the past against Oscar De La Hoya and Jose Luis Castillo. Floyd Mayweather is not looked upon as an undefeated fighter because he’s really not. He was hit, roughed up and his constant holding because he couldn’t deal with a tough fighter made him panic and hold on for life. Holding, hugging or tying up as many put it is illegal. The referee should have taken points away. Holding is like putting your hands up and telling your opponent that he’s too much to handle. Marcos Maidana won 5 of the first 6 rounds. Look at the replay and see for yourself. He was landing the jab on Floyd when he wanted to. Floyd was missing by miles, and many of his punches were off the mark. He did have a few clean ones, but the crowd screamed even though the punch was a glancing blow or didn’t land. Maidana was the better man, and Floyd and his fans know this. Some people need to learn how to score a professional boxing match not an amateur boxing match. Maidana was effective throughout the fight. The 114-114 scorecard was more like it, but the truth is that one blind judge that should be banned for life had Mayweather winning 117-111?? What a pathetic joke. Regardless, Mayweather has been exposed, and the boxing world knows full well why Mayweather never wanted to fight the legendary, 8 division boxing champion and Fighter of the Decade. I knew all along Floyd Mayweather could not deal with Manny’s fighting style. Manny would have simply knocked Floyd Mayweather out cold. Too fast, strong, and brutalizing power in this southpaw fighting machine. The debate is over. The great Manny Pacquiao is the unanimous best fighter of his era as the Fighter of The Decade voted on by the best sports writers in the country voted Manny Pacquiao as being the best. What we all saw on Saturday night finally answered the question. Who was better, Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao. The winner, Manny Pacquiao. His legacy will live forever. His fights are memorable and exciting. The boxing world loves this man. Manny Pacquiao is a living legend, and he obviously doesn’t need Floyd Mayweather for anything. Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The GOAT)
Truth is that Floyd lost again (115-114). It was the second loss of his pro career and his REAL record is now 44-2. Just face it that you shameless fan boyz are the biggest nut-huggers on the planet and aren’t capable of accepting reality — that FMJ has received a couple of crooked, gift-wrapped hometown decision.
It’s no different than Devon Alexander winning a couple of home-cooked decisions over two foreign fighters (Matthysse & Kotelnik) in his own backyard of St. Louis, MO. Real talk.Posted May 6, 2014 4:31 am

Maidana put up a very good effort, and I was very surprised with the extent to which he managed to hassle Floyd onto the ropes. Looking back over the past 7 or so years unexpected opponents have given Mayweather trouble. In retrospect, though appearing to be an outclassing at the time, Ricky Hatton was able to give Mayweather far more difficulty than most who have come since. For all the criticism he receives, one attribute Hatton was supremely gifted in was footwork and speed of foot, being able to cause his opponents highly uncomfortable levels of anticipation. He like Maidana was able to win quite a few rounds before the stoppage. The only thing that can beat Floyd is speed. Speed of foot and of hand. This is why Amir Khan, even though he would lose to multiple Floyd victims, is actually a very interesting opponent for Mayweather. Khan has sufficient hand speed to attempt to win a decision based on work rate. Aside from Pacquiao, Khan is my favourite current option for Mayweather but I seriously doubt he will fight either.Posted May 6, 2014 3:19 am

Obviously you have to score on punches that landed. I think compubox had Floyd landing 9 more punches than Maidana. 9 punches ain’t that much, then you have to give points for ring generalship, who controlled the action, who got the other fighter to fight his fight, then as Max Kellerman says, you have to ask yourself after each round who would I have rather been? Yes, Floyd landed the crisper shots (he always does as he is more accurate), but El Chino threw about 400 more punches, who’s to say that compubox, which is counted by humans had some of those punches missing when they actually landed. Bottom line, they both landed about the same amount of punches, but El Chino completely controlled the action, he did want he wanted to do and forced Floyd to fight his fight, and more times than not I would rather have been Madaina after the rounds ended. Was it a blow out, no, not for either man. Do I want to see it again, hell yes. But does Floyd want more of Maidana?Posted May 5, 2014 6:56 pm

The things you HAVE to remember about the Oscar that fought Floyd is, he was an absolute shell of his former self by that time.
1. He was a part-time fighter/full-time coke addict Livin’ La Vida Loca party animal who had one foot in the retirement home and spent more time down at his local gay bar than he did in the gym. This is the most telling statistic: He’d only fought ONCE in almost 3 years (4 months shy of to be exact).
2. He was 1-3 in his previous 4 fights (including the Sturm robbery), one of those loses coming by way of demoralizing KO.
3. He was coming off a year long layoff.
4. He went 2-5 in his last five fight (including the disgraceful robbery against a Sturm) and those two victories came over a shot Richard Mayorga who’d had EVERY ounce of stuffing pounded out of him by the illegally wrapped murderous fists of Tinto Trinidad, and blown up super-featherweight journeyman Steven Forbes.
But he still managed to take a PRIME Floyd down to the wire wire and defeat him in many people’s eyes despite being a mere shell of his former self and having to contend with all that adversity and disadvantageous circumstances. That speaks VOLUMES about how grotesquely overrated Floyd has been all these years.Posted May 5, 2014 6:45 pm

Man De La Hoya has his panties in a bunch. Since getting KOed by Manny, havinghis cross dressing thing come out, the unfortunate battle with drugs and alcohol, and now on the verge of losing the business he started, he really seems to be full of spoiled grapes. Mayweather beat him, beat Castillo in the second fight than in the first one but the judges scored the first one (which is the “debatable one) more in his favor than the second one, and beat Maidana even though he was outweighed by 17 pounds, was punched in the balls, almost kneed at one point, and was out-thrown by double but STILL landed more punches. I hope there’s no rematch because it would just be worse and De La Hoya may not even have a business if it does happen.Posted May 5, 2014 5:54 pm

Floyd is not going to lose a close fight, he will only lose if someone knocks him out or knocks him down several times on the way to an undisputed shut out.
There are a couple of fights that Floyd could have lost, and you only have to look at the Hatton fight to see how a referee has been in Floyds corner.

Oscar is right about castillo one and carlos but his fight with floyd could have be a draw or one point win for oscar or floydPosted May 5, 2014 3:53 pm
This fight just proved the hypocrisy of many Mayweather detractors. They whine that Floyd is a runner, potshots to victory, and cherry picks. I’ve said months before the fight that Maidana was going to be a very tough fight for Floyd. Many of the detractors were laughing AT MAIDANA and claiming it was another easy win for Floyd. Now these same people are trying to say that Maidana won like they were with him from the beginning, just because he gave Floyd a competitive fight; These were the same people that claimed they WANTED to see Floyd face difficulties to prove his toughness. No matter what he does, Floyd can’t win with these people. Joe Calzaghe, whom these same detractors love to give a pass to, said 46-0. Deal with it.Posted May 5, 2014 3:52 pm
De La Hoya is a washed up alcoholic crackhead who can’t deal with the fact that he lost his biggest fights ever…Mayweather, Pacquiao, Mosley, Hopkins and Trinidad all whooped his be-hind. Go back to rehab dude and get a life!Posted May 5, 2014 3:51 pm
Chill out dude, I’m just saying Oscar fought way better competition then Floyd ever hasPosted May 5, 2014 3:33 pm
Don’t like Mayweather as a person. Asa ffighter I don’t think he’ll ever be worthy of being mentioned as a contender for being ‘the greatest’ as he’s refused to fight Pacman. But I’ve never seen Floyd loose a fight. Castillo gave him a tough night. ODH was effective and maidana didn’t let Floyd have it all his own way for once. But all these guys were just competitive where other have failed to look like they should even be entitled to share the same ring as him.Posted May 5, 2014 3:32 pm

Ok so some people are saying the judges gave the fight to Floyd. I haven’t seen a score card yet that had MM winning. All the HBO commentators had Floyd winning along with the judges. There was no unofficial score card from any where that had MM winning so I guess Floyd paid EVERYONE off. EVERYONE hates MM and loves Floyd so they gave him the fight. BS!!!!! Stop your crying. 46-0 with a rematch he will be 47-0 in a clear lop sided victory.Posted May 5, 2014 3:29 pm

I’ve watched all the fights several times. He lost to Castillo by few punches and the De La Hoya fight could have been a draw or a win for De La Hoya, but he most definitely did not lose to Maidana. It was a close fight, but Maidana didn’t land almost any clean punches. He was aggressive, but till this day you don’t get points from that in boxing.Posted May 5, 2014 3:16 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)
I have to disagree with ODLH. FMJ is now 44-2 not 43-3, but he’s certainly NOT undefeated. Clearly he lost his first fight vs. Castillo and he got beat by Maidana by a very slight margin (115-114). FMJ is an ATG fighter and HOFer, but to hear his fan-boyz call him “TBE” and the GOAT is a ridiculous exaggeration of extraordinary proportions. Pure nut-huggery at it’s finest! Real talk.Posted May 5, 2014 3:00 pm

The first Castillo fight…I was not a fan of Mayweather, not like Pop or uncle either. I never ever seen any one bouncing off the ropes faster, like a superball on Coke….Mayweather won the first six rounds…in he didn’t get hit and hit and Coperfield’éd before Castillo could get a punch in.

Floyd WON due to better Offense and Defense. He had to defend against more incoming shots and was able to make Maidana MISS 75% of them. Then he threw HALF as many shots back and landed over 50% of them. WOW!!! Thats called GOATNESS. To beat Floyd Maidana is going to need to take him an OFFENSE class and a DEFENSE class.Posted May 5, 2014 2:46 pm
The Pacman is gonna whup May’s ass good if they ever get in the ring! You’re not allowed to score a fight against Floyd if you want to work again. Seen the whole fight maidana won 6 round. And stats say he landed 225 punches Floyd seem slower, or maidana could avold Floyd jab going in all the time.
Floyd had no choice he had to exchange and use his speed and experience inside. He tried boxing but maidana jab right back and even counter back a body shot and two clubbing over the top punches back. He got in everytime he tried and Floyd went backwards but he follow him and was inside still so back into the ropes.
He had no choice If Floyd tried to slip chino he would not see the combo punches and he would be close and sideway he could have been ko’ed. So he not dumb it’s better to face the coming punches and scrub them off.
Floyd can’t handle slugger or slugger/ boxer. Or rather it’s a even ballfield fighting them vs slow boxers canelo one that can’t fight onside so he can slip away with put getting hit and can beat them boxing from the outside as most boxer don’t want to come inside, Oscar, hatten, maidana, are slugger or slugger /boxers.
They are going to watch fight over and over as maidana took Floyd jab and his shoulder roll away.

Tough fight to call. It could have went either way. It looks like Maidana won because of his work rate. When you look closely, Mayweather’s punches are much more accurate and landed more cleanly. Mayweather threw less punches and landed a little more than Maidana.Posted May 5, 2014 2:08 pm
Floyd is old
It just annoys me that mayweather has every alibi, every excuse when he fights terribly. You can’t blame the fans for fighting horrendously!Posted May 5, 2014 2:03 pm
I don’t think Floyd is “old” per say. He’s still in better shape and has better skills than any current welterweight boxer. I do believe that he’s letting boxing fan’s criticism dictate the way he fights.
It happened to Leonard when he fought Duran the first time around. He wanted to prove tot the fans that he could trade with Duran and not just it cost him the fight, but almost got ko in the process.
Floyd is a boxer and counter-puncher and though many people find that style of fighting boring, it’s his bread and butter. If he sticks with his style, he’ll be around for a while. If he concedes to fan pressure and decides to trade punches, he may find himself on the canvas.
On the other hand, one can’t take anything away from Mariana. He fought the right fight, and other than the end result, he was successful. I still believe he should go after Pac next. I think pay per view numbers would be better than a rematch against Floyd.
I think Floyd will go after Khan next. It’s obvious Khan won’t stand a chance. He had Collazo in front of him with his hands down and Khan didn’t do anything especial.Posted May 5, 2014 1:58 pm

Mbuyiseli my friend, not obsessed with Floyd, but dislike what he stands for. A man that was blessed with talent only to see him act the way he does and see how he treats people. He truly believes his money and material make him bigger and better than all humanity. The 24/7 and All Access shows people who Floyd Mayweather really is. He’s not putting on an act. He’s a hypocrite wearing diamond crosses and thanking God on occasion yet his mouth is full of garbage foul language and he has no shame when blatantly calling his own father every foul and degrading name in the book. Character in a person, especially a sports figure that has the attention of millions, has a better opportunity to live a good life and be a good role model to millions of kids and upcoming boxers, but acts like a fool and rambles about in his folly. I recall watching Floyd Mayweather as a young teen as an amateur and Olympian, and he was a very nice, modest humble kid. I watched him during the early stages of his career and his personality was very likable. He had a humble personality, and he looked to me like another Sugar Ray Leonard both inside and outside the ring. He then won his first title, and the hanger on’s started coming, and everyone started filling his head with all kinds of garbage. I began to see the beginning of what I thought would be a disaster of a potentially great fighter and role model as the promoters and his entourage of people came onto him like a bunch of vultures seeking their carcass. Floyd Mayweather then appeared to be believing everything, and then the ego started to come out louder and louder. The rest is history. We’ve all see what he portrays himself to be. The man today is a classless, egotistical, money hungry villain. Did you see what a jerk he was in the post fight press conference with his kiss but entourage behind him bowing at every word he said. Did you see Lil Wayne and the Mayweather camp trying to start fights with the Maidana camp as they were cheering through the hallway. I don’t need to get into Floyd Mayweather’s behavior because it’s all out there. He says things like Donald Sterlign is a great man? Putting his ex fiancee’s abortion document on Instagram? Calling Manny Pacquiao racist names. Laughing at fans because they pay money to see him fight. Throwing all his wealth in our faces is, and he has been consistent this this attitude and behavior the majority of his career. Floyd tries to act and speak well for about a minute, and then once someone asks him something or says something he doesn’t like, his real self comes back and begins degrading that person. Floyd Mayweather has rubbed people wrong, and as he says, he doesn’t care. Thank God for the world having a quality person like Manny Pacquiao. I admire and support this wonderful human being that is respectful, caring, loving, God fearing and is a humble, decent humble person that all of us can have admiration for. Just look at how he carries himself. Not one bad word. Not one word of disrespect for anyone. He never complains or cries. He never boasts about his money or materials. He gives and gives to those that are in need. Manny Pacquiao recognized the sin he had in his life at he turned away from it. He was a fallen man that took off the dirty clothes he had, and today he is a man with true character. Manny Pacquiao is loved and admired everywhere he goes, and for those that are jealous of him, he doesn’t sit well with. They try to take shots at him about his personal life. Laugh at his losses, suffering and struggles, but he continues to be a class act. He never changes. This is a good man. I hope this clears up my thoughts on Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. And just to add a little more to this. Manny Pacquiao is the best of all time. Floyd Mayweather proved to all of us that he would never have come close to beating Manny. Floyd is a skilled fighter, but he would have been knocked by the legendary, Manny Pacquiao, the only 8 division boxing champion in history. Hope my post helps you understand.Posted May 5, 2014 1:41 pm

Tyson said it best when he laughed off mayweather’s TBE claims! Floyd could not even run away from maidana. Home court thus really have an advantage. Floyd was looking miserable every round. Limey jay I agree Floyd was to much on defense and should have stayed of the ropes a little more but a lot of those punches didn’t land some did but at the end maidana did a good job and Floyd pulled it out by a round or 2 to me Floyd won however I don’t think pac can beat either one of them and let’s put that to the side b/c this fight will bring more $$ and more excitement let pac keep fight the same old top rank fighterPosted May 5, 2014 1:20 pm

Floyd fans can say what they want. The crowd spoke. Consisting mostly of casual fans. Best thing about casual fans is they go by what they see. And they saw Floyd get his ass kicked. Simple as that. Paulie said it best 2 or 3 clean punches dont erase 230 minutes of getting mauled. Just stop it. Arum get MM in with pac its a good fight for pac.
You also realize that what a casual fan sees is on the broad surface or shallow end and not the deeper parts, right?
Ex: MMA. Casual fans, even die hard boxing fans, usually only see two men rolling around on the floor. One guy gets a grip, the other guy taps. But what they don’t see is all the calculated and manipulation done to get into position to make the other one tap. Joe Rogan talks about this quite often.
Floyd is not in the p4p top 3 in a year. He was manhandled by Maidana. That was a brutal fight. Maidana landing more power shots and Floyd landing more jabs. Brutal fight!Posted May 5, 2014 1:14 pm
Casual fans really don’t know boxing and are drawn to particular events because of their passion for or against one fighter ie Mayweather or Pacquiao.. Hardcore fans have the benefit of knowing what resonates with judges and presumably understanding the nuances of boxing, including the styles of particular fighters…Reality is that Maidana did more mauling than landing and last I knew “Mauling” is not superior to clean punching which is where Mayweather excelled vs Maidana… Chino fought the ONLY fight he could against Mayweather and its a credit that he stayed in his lane and made the bout ugly, then adjustments were made, and he could not capitalize on the play nor hurt Mayweather who he outweighed by plenty… A rematch would be huge and it will be interesting to see how this plays out going forward I am cetainly OK with seeing this bout again..Posted May 5, 2014 1:13 pm
With sparring gloves on non the less ( smh) just stop it. Pac give this dude a call and give him another decent payday because Floyd is already downplaying the rematch.Posted May 5, 2014 1:11 pm
If we also take a look at something, although I don’t consider Floyd the GOAT/TBE, how many of those ATG fighters were still fighting and winning on a high level at 37? Not many. Not many at all. Even the one time Great Fighters started to lose against fighters they wouldn’t have years before. We’ll see what’s up in the rematch. But one thing is certain, the more talk about Floyd’s demise, how close this fight was, it just means big numbers for the rematch and just breathed life back into Pac/May.Posted May 5, 2014 1:08 pm
In a rematch I think Mayweather opts for a more come forward style which basically threw Maidana, economy was Floyds enemy during the bout when he took the lead it looked very easy… I also see Mayweather possibly coming to the ring heavier than normal ie 152 as opposed to a super lean 148 the night of the bout which is essentially right on target… A little extra mustard would would do well against Maidana who is about brawn, problem fight all these fighters against even a clearly aging Mayweather is that his most under appreciated assets are his will and his heart.. When the 31 year old should have been pushing the old man back, he was getting pushed back by the 37 year old Mayweather.Posted May 5, 2014 1:07 pm

The way I saw it was ……maidana had absolutely no fear of floyd, he went out with a plan to get in his face, be prepared to take mayweathers counters and try to land the big looping overhand right as often as he could, whilst also throwing punches to absolutely anywhere …as long as they hit floyd somewhere on his body , arms, thighs , head.
Yeah, Keep talking about how Floyd lost. It will only boost up the Promotional sales for the rematch.
For me, I actually was thinking after the 5th that Floyd wouldn’t have enough time to catch up and win. It started to remind me a bit of Hopkins/Taylor 1 where it took to long for Hopkins to adjust and come on. Floyd should have adjusted and changed the fight by the 4th and he didn’t. He should have used his jab, kept it in the center of the ring, gotten off first, but he didn’t. Not sure why. Age? Strength? Stamina?Posted May 5, 2014 1:06 pm

Maidana is getting the usual dose of EXTRA credit for making it rough and in fairness he made it rougher than most ever have against Floyd but his performance failed to get the job done he was doing more missing than landing and the punches that landed simply were of a more glancing variety meanwhile the “Ooooohhhh Ahhhhhhh” shots were the product of Mayweathers accuracy and efficient punch selection… All credit to Maidana for providing us with competitive, intense loss that he should be proud of when he discussed getting bested by one of the GREATEST ever with his Grandkids assuming he still has his faculties at that point…Posted May 5, 2014 1:00 pm

HaHaHa are you really counting “Compubox” as gospel? and why would Mayweather be exactly the same fighter he is a decade older than when he fought Gatti and at the end of the day he did NOT succumb instead the older man took over the later round and pounded out ALL the hightlight reel shots that sent Maidana to the showers with a pat on the back and loss… Mayweather is 37 and eventually father time coupled with a fighter in the ring will take his 0 if he hangs around, but at the end of the night it was not gonna be the painfully inaccurate Marcos Maidana, nor “compubox”…. Mayweather was in the ring with a STRONG fighter who came to the ring as a SMW fighter (165) Pacquiao was slaughtered by a guy who was best at 135 and has NEVER defeated another WW fighter…Mayweather faced Maidana off a huge win, Pac Man beat Bradley who is a gutty fighter, skilled fighter who could not KO Jinkee even if she was pregnant with triplets… Maidana is a tough customer but alas Mayweather was tougher and hence we are 46-0 while the also Great Manny is 2 fights removed from getting knocked cold and put on the shelf for a year by a then 39 year old Marquez..Posted May 5, 2014 12:55 pm
Maidana repeatedly landed clean blows to Floyd’s melon in every round of their fight and it was a variety of punches featuring a chopping overhand right that landed as consistently as it did v. Broner. credit to Mayweather for shrugging them off and continuing to parry and counter but they were scoring shots for Maidana, nonetheless. he earns the win in any other country but the U.S.Posted May 5, 2014 12:55 pm
eltirado – I don’t really agree with a draw, but the scorecards suggest Floyd dominated which is just wrong…I saw the cleaner more effective punches being landed by Floyd, especially after the 6th, Maidana was just pushing Floyd against the ropes and roughing him up, the stats told the story, Floyd landing 54% of his punches while Maidana landed 26% of his. Close, but I had Floyd winning by 2 rounds, 1 if you give Maidana the benefit of the doubt in round 11.Posted May 5, 2014 12:55 pm
amor – Personally? I thought Floyd lost to Castillo the first time around…I felt Castillo could do it again but he failed in their 2nd fight.Posted May 5, 2014 12:52 pm
GOOD try by Maidana. I APPLAUD him for his efforts. But Floyd fought him to his STRENGTHS and he still took the LOSS. IF you’ve seen Maidana’s career he usually MURDERS guys when he gets them on the ropes. He had Floyd on the ropes all night and couldn’t even wobble him. Thats called Defensive MASTERCLASS. The rematch will only get worse for Maidana as Floyd will watch the tape and keep him tied UP on the ropes and let the Fight happen in the middle of the Ring.Posted May 5, 2014 12:51 pm

Maidana had everything he needed to hurt Floyd Mayweather EXCEPT the ability to land cleanly… There is no special glove that affords a professional boxer the ability to avoid massive damage if hit cleanly… Maidana and Mayweather were not fighting with 16 or 20 OZ sparring gloves they were boxing with standard 8 oz or 10 oz gloves fact is that for 12 rounds Maidana even with 20 pounds of additional mass could not land anything of significance and the sum total of his glancing blows was a small cut produced by his head as opposed to his fists… There are NO excuses to be had, Maidana fought his heart out and showed no awe of Mayweathers legend, status of power within the sport, that said he FAILED in admirable fashion, but he FAILED none the less…Posted May 5, 2014 12:47 pm
Floyd is not the same fighter that beat Gatti nine years ago. The fast, skilled, cocky fighter who made it look easy almost humiliating other champions.
the lasting impression is of Maidana exceeding expectations and Floyd falling short of expectations. Mayweather did very well but he simply didn’t do enough to convincingly defeat Maidana. conversely, Maidana successfully delivered on everything that was expected of him v. the #1 P4P fighter in the sport. there is no need for laborious over-analysis. it was a Maidana win, plain and simple.Posted May 5, 2014 12:44 pm
All, Last night fight to me is all scripted initiated by Mayweather promoted and Al Haymon with connivance by Shaefer. Floyd’s forced Maidana to wear a high padding gloves in allowing him Maidana to hit him in the corner but no chance of hurting him..FLoyd fooling boxing fans that the game was closed….Floyd allow it to be closed even 1-judge rule it 114-114, so that they can push for rematch. Now I understand why Mayweather promotion and Schaefer doesn’t want to work in Top Rank (Bob Arum) they know TR cannot be part of this fiasco…hahaha…Floyd team is full of crap…not giving Maidana a chance by forcing him to wear high padding gloves..Good thing Manny Pacman stay with Top Rank..Posted May 5, 2014 12:43 pm
Oscars desire to elevate his star via Mayweather bashing is truly pathetic, ODH needs to accept that he squandered some of his best opportunities aad lacked the commitment to excellence exemplified by Mayweather well past the age when Oscar was allowing a guy jumping 2 weight classes (Pacquiao) to beat him into submission and rudely introduce him to the virtues of remaining on his stool.. That enduring memory of ODH being slaughtered by tiny Pacquiao must have robbed him of his self worth on some level hence his desire to attack and revise Mayweathers history…I am a big ODH fan, he fought everyone around but he did not have a 5th or 6th gear the way Mayweather, Leonard and others do when the chips are down… At 37 Floyd could have faded after a rough fight in the latter rounds, instead he dug deep and turned down Maidanas bullrushing with clean punching Maidana won the wrestling match while Floyd won the boxing match… Sadly for Maidana it was indeed a BOXING match…Posted May 5, 2014 12:39 pm
“A Draw” pure nonsense the anti-Mayweather bias is truly a narcotic that many smoke with vigor..This narrative is OLD in the absense of clean blows clowns will score effort which Chino certainly produced, but the fact is that he was outboxed and outfought especially down the stretch, like I said before Maidana is a HARD puncher but produced 000000 fireworks because he could not land, Cotto legit bloodied Mayweathers nose via a clean punch NOT a butt, Mosley had him on rubber legs, Maidana simply engorged the peckers of blue collar boxing fans who wanted a feel good story where Rocky prevailed…Sorry dreams do not come true, great effort by Maidana with his available toolbox but he could not make his punches count and he LOST… NEXTPosted May 5, 2014 12:29 pm
Floyd won for real y’all don’t believe me Floyd won its that simple it’s over it’s to early to be hatingPosted May 5, 2014 12:28 pm
That fight was NOT a draw Maidana landed FRACTION of what he threw and barely got in any clean head shots, his best blows were to the back of Floyds head.. We all know that Maidana can punch and he had almost 20 pounds on Mayweather where were the KD’s that put Broner and others on the deck and stopped 31 men? They were not present because the mans Blows were barely landing and he was doing better at MMA than boxing.. He gets big cred for forcing Floyd into a dog fight but at the end of the day Mayweather was the FASTER, SMARTER and more accurate dog..Anyone who REALLY knows boxing and how to score a bout could watch Maidana missing like crazy, he certainly made an impression and he followed his gameplan with real committment but he was NOT the winner by a long shot the boy could not land anything to trump those clear head shots he was eating..Posted May 5, 2014 12:25 pm

De La Hoya is looking more and more like a SAD figure as opposed to a once great boxer who could not close the deal during some big ones.. I am the first to say that he won Mosley 2 and surely outboxed Tito for 8 rounds… Floyd Mayweather is a CLOSER and superior athlete to Oscar and it burns him alive, I remember ODH off his feet and cheering when he thougt that Shane was gonna get Floyd outta there only to see him boxed mindless as the bout continued.. Neither Maidana, Oscar nor Castillo solved Floyd Mayweather the extra credit given for largely INEFFECTIVE aggression to these 3 only serves notice as to how superior Floyd is to everyone else even at his advanced age…When the going go tough Mayweather stepped it up and batted Maidanas head around like a pinata as Chino swung, pushed and wrestled 46-0 kill yourself Oscar and Co…Posted May 5, 2014 12:21 pm

Titopa- I had it even. I think it was a draw and a draw would have been fair. I’m not saying Maidana won. I’m saying Floyd didn’t win and I’m certainly saying he didn’t win 8-4 or 9-3. I’m saying Floyd didn’t do enough to win.Posted May 5, 2014 12:01 pm

Titopa, I agree with you! Floyd won a very close fight! Pac/bradley 1 was a robbery! I agree as well! How about may/castillo 1?Posted May 5, 2014 12:00 pm
eltirado – Yeah, the scorecards were bogus, that was the only “robbery” I saw, the judges robbing the fans of accurate scorecards…115-113 is how I saw it, but Maidana was not robbed, a robbery is/was Pacquiao vs Bradley I.Posted May 5, 2014 11:43 am
Migraine Elliott – Your hatred for Floyd is blinding you. It was a close fight, but Maidana didn’t win, the only “robbery” was the judges robbing the fans of accurate scorecards, 117-111 is a travesty, 116-112 is pretty bad and the only fair scorecard was the draw, Floyd landed 54% of his punches and it looked that way, Maidana did better than expected, but I don’t think he won.Posted May 5, 2014 11:40 am
Maidana didn’t lose the fight, the judges gave the win to Floyd. Floyd didn’t win 6 rounds. He won five, if you’re super kind and generous to him.Posted May 5, 2014 11:39 am
also, blame the ref for not controlling the bout not the fighter for pulling out all the stops at the risk of losing points to a diligent and competent ref. that’s what experienced fighters are supposed to do. taking advantage of inexperienced fighters or refs. whatever the case may be. Mayweather knows this as well as anybody and Maidana executed accordingly.Posted May 5, 2014 11:37 am
I agree that an official judge who gets a job scoring big fights in Las Vegas who then scores that fight 9-3 to Mayweather needs to:
Actually score them properly when it’s his damn job to score them!
simply containing Maidana doesn’t result in a “winning” round for Floyd. he was in reaction-mode to often throughout the bout to give him credit for winning rounds during which Maidana was pressing the action, scoring a variety of punches, while all Mayweather did was ineffectively block, grapple, and occasionally counter with zero results beyond blunting some of Maidana’s offense. ultimately, Mayweather did too little in terms of offense to disregard Maidana’s non-stop offense, which in turn blunted 75% of Floyd’s offense. accordingly, rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12 were undeniably Maidana rounds. Mayweather competed for control but Maidana never relinquished it. perhaps not a robbery but certainly not a clear-cut Mayweather win. only Maidana came closest to achieving that goal.Posted May 5, 2014 11:34 am
The Floyd supporters in here have some nerve calling people casuals because they didnt give the fight to Mayweather. Go watch Bloodboxing on youtube new video. Maidana did not win round 3 or round 12. If u want to be super kind u can maybe give him round 8. He only won rounds 1, 4 and 5 in my book. And classy pot shpts do win u the round if the other guy aint landing.Posted May 5, 2014 11:24 am
jason – Simply “pressing the action” doesn’t win you a round either, you have to do more than come forward or pin your opponent against the ropes. You have to land punches, from a distance Floyd’s punches were snapping Maidana’s head back, his punches were sharper and far more effective, Maidana’s were thudding but on the inside they mostly landed on the elbows and shoulders, some good ones got in…but after the 6th, not very many were landing.Posted May 5, 2014 11:23 am
Maidana was more FEROCIOUS and SKILLED at the same time than he’s ever been in his LIFE but he still couldn’t WIN 7 rounds vs the GOAT. Maidana’s BEST day couldn’t beat one of Floyd’s WORST days. When a CHAMP has his BEST day and that can’t beat your WORST day thats called GOATNESS.Posted May 5, 2014 11:20 am
If you think Maidana was “robbed”, you need to either
A) Watch more boxing and educate yourself
Was it close? Most certainly. But there was no “robbery”, my younger sister (who hates Floyd) even had Floyd winning…after the 6th, Maidana wasn’t nearly as accurate as he was early on. Floyd adjusted and kept the mauling style of Maidana to a minimum.Posted May 5, 2014 11:20 am

A Draw would have been most fare for this fight. Also why does Floyd Mayweather Jr letting Justin “punkass” Beiber tagg along his fights? I mean I’m not joking when I say that most people in a boxing arena wants to punch that little punk.

LMAO so if Floyd doesn’t blow someone out like he usually does he automatically suppose to lose??? He clearly whooped De la crybaby’s a$$ so idk what he’s talking about. Sure this fight was more competitive than most thought it would be.. Maidana made it ugly. But Floyd clearly won with the more precise and higher percentage punches. The only fools that say Maidana won are the same ones that said Floyd shouldn’t even be fighting him to begin with… The same people that pray that he loses smh…Posted May 5, 2014 10:55 am
I gave rounds 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 12 to Maidana for six rounds, I gave Floyd rounds 2, 6, 7, 9, 10 for five rounds. Round 11 even. If I score round 11 to Floyd, it’s a draw. I have no problem with the judge who made it a draw because it was a close fight at the end of 12. Some people are forgetting that Floyd didn’t do that much early on. Floyd probably landed the clearer shots overall, but he didn’t win more rounds in my eyes.Posted May 5, 2014 10:37 am

Majority of the fans booing were Maidana fans for his county. Most Americans were cheering after he won and chanted USA! USA! Oscar got a few gifts along the way himself. Sweet Pea beat him and so did Steve Forbes. When you are the big name upping the gate, you’re going to get the benefit of some close rounds.
Also, I think over the past 3 or 4 Mayweather fights, we can definitely put the Floyd ducks dangerous fighters argument to rest. @Hidalg0. There is clear reason why I use the word hater, because floyd has a lot of haters. If u r a regular to this site then I should not even have to explain that to u. Granted, not everyone will be a hater, but floyd does have more than most and it mainly comes from pac fans from what I observe reading threads. Its lik people cant like both fighters lol. There are a lot of people who will not give floyd any ounce of praise for his boxing simply becuse they hate him or if they do it is through gritted teeth. This should not be the case given all the accomplishments and performances he has produced in boxing. People wil call him anything from a cherry picker to a runner, to boring before they give him any praise for his boxing skills, which I find crazy considering he is probably the best boxer of our generation. So going back to my original point, that is why I call a lot of people haters, although it might not apply to everyone but it will apply to alot of folks.Posted May 5, 2014 10:07 am
Just a boxing fan
Floyd beat Castillo
Floyd and ODL 1 could have gone either way but I believe ODL won
Floyd won a very narrow but deserved victory because the ref did not do his job properly. Points should have been deducted for at least 1 deliberate and clear low blow and rabbit punches.

Somebody tell me what rounds they give Maidana becuase I need to understand how they are scoring this fight. I will say Maidana put up a hell of a fight and definitley made it competative throughout. However he came nowhere near winning it. Compubox numbers can sometimes be misleading. Although it shows they landed roughly the same amount of shots, look at the type of shots that each landed. The clean precise straight rights and hooks and body and head combinations came from floyd. Apart from a few early rounds where maidana landed some good overhand rights, 90% of his panched were just rabbit punches to the body and glancing blows to the head which were hardly landing. Other than that he did not really do much athough I will say he controlled the pace of the fight with his relentless onslaught, but ,ost of his work barring some early roun encounters was ineffective. Again, I urge u all to go back and watch the fight.Posted May 5, 2014 9:57 am

I cant stand Gayweather he is everything that is wrong with boxing, but he won the fight, anybody who thinks Marocs won, please do not become a boxing judge as you will upset a lot of boxing fans,Oscar is a very bitter and twisted man who has plenty of problems on his shoulders he should sort them out before criticising the Gay one.Posted May 5, 2014 9:54 am
Al Haymon’s advisor you are wrong. Maidana landed a lot to the body, threw TWICE as much punches. Mayweather potshotted, did better in the 2nd part of the fight when Maidana gassed out. Mayweather may have won a close decision, but a draw is a good score. I did go back and watched it again, actually I changed the score from 115:113 for Mayweather to a draw. The reason you score the fight for Mayweather due to his accuracy rather than for Maidana for his domination/aggressiveness is your bias…Posted May 5, 2014 9:50 am
Sven Ottke is one boxer who got a few bogus decisions at home too. Does that mean we shouldn’t question any of those verdicts too? Anyone’s record is there for discussion. If anyone questions Mayweather’s close calls, some of his more precious fanboys start crying. Floyd’s career is not quite as great as we’re led to believe. Floyd Mayweather is NOT due more favors than anyone else! Floyd Mayweather has not genuinely won every fight he’s had, sorry to break it to his nuthuggers! He didn’t win 7 rounds against Maidana, or 8 either. If you gave him a draw, you’re generous. Floyd was a cry-baby in the fight too. How can anyone say floyd lost this fight. Does the hate blind ur judgement. I urge you ALL to go back and watch the fight. It wasnt far from a shut out. Maidana did win a few early rounds but that was it. All his work was messy and just landing glancing blow when floyd was against the ropes. Floyd landed so many clean shots and maidana did hardly anywthing. All his work was just glancing blows when he was backing floyd into the ropes. Maybe when people are watching it live, they get caught in the emotion of the fight and see someone coming forward using rough house tactics so it looks like he is doing a lot. When you go back and watch the fight u will see it wasn’t even close and the judge that scored it a draw is in the leagues of CJ Ross and need to be fired by the Nevada state commission.Posted May 5, 2014 9:37 am

Calzaghe threw and LANDED more punches on Hopkins even though a lot of them hit Hopkins gloves. They weren’t clean, but they landed for the most part. Maidana threw and missed at a horrible rate compared to Mayweather’s usual sharpshooting. Aggression means nothing, if it’s not effective. Punches behind the head DON’T COUNT on judges scorecards. Low blows, DON’T COUNT on judges score cards and Maidana admitted he threw those punches on purpose. Calzaghe didn’t disagree with the judges ruling and congratulated Mayweather.Posted May 5, 2014 9:34 am
46-0. Funny how every hater has overlooked the Argentine MMA fighter’s low blows, billy-goat head-butts, using knees, pushing Mayweather through the ropes, etc. If Mayweather had retaliated…Maidana should have had points deducted or disqualified. This is boxing not wrestling.

There is no debate. Majority of fans, fellow boxers, and boxing experts agree that Floyd won the fight by adjusting when it mattered. Everybody knows that Oscar has been hating on Floyd after he embarrassed him and won on his terms. Oscar stacked the deck against Mayweather and still lost. Oscar has been desperately trying to find a Latino or Mexican to beat Mayweather for years now. He thought Canelo was the one, and he got embarrassed. However, Canelo would beat and possibly knock out Maidana if they fought. Styles make fights. BTW: Majority of the people that responded to the tweet, called Oscar “Salty”. And even Calzaghe gave Floyd props. 46-0Posted May 5, 2014 9:21 am
Whatever, 43-3, 43-2 or 1, doesnt make any difference. Did Floyd lose outright?? Of course not!! Unless this was choreographed, Maidana gave a good account however, I am 100% certain this will not be the result in a rematch and Floyd will blow him out. I truly believe Floyd wanted to put on a show and Maidana’s 15 minutes of fame will be over before the end of the year. Next time, a boxing clinic will expose maidana.Posted May 5, 2014 9:14 am
Truth be told, the fight was a helluva lot more difficult than was anticipated. Maidana did exactly what everyone thought one would have to do to beat Mayweather, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t quite enough.
Mayweather definitely won more rounds than Maidana.
I can’t see it being a draw because Mayweather seemed to control more rounds. His rounds that he controlled might not have been exciting as the one Maidana did, but they were just as, if not more effective.
Hey….look…. GREAT fight and I think a rematch would be just as exciting and seems like a logical fight for both come September.Posted May 5, 2014 9:08 am
Boxing fans are plain stupid you don’t get extra points for effort without effectiveness this is not a retard school. Boxing it’s what it’s called. So much for big “brother” avenging little “brothers loss. Guess Maidana opened a can of whoop ass on both broner and the “GOAT.” Amazing!! However, because this is a business first and a sport second, more than certain Floyd will return the favor in spades and look spectacular doing so in the rematch. It’s all about the almighty dollar; not about the sport or fans.Posted May 5, 2014 9:03 am

IT’S ALWAYS GOOD to see Ring Magazine owner and GBP chief shareholder Oscar de la Hoya making every big fight about himself. This ego maniac broke the story he was going into rehab last September to take the shine away from his charge Canelo Alvarez and now turning up in a cream suit he wants all the attention to be on him. We would all like Oscar to go away, get clean and less delusional and man up and admit his win over FELIX STURM was a fix and he got breaks in other wins. Oscar’s job is to promote other fighters and not himself.
No one gives a damn that his interests are in dressing up in fishnet stockings and suspenders and snorting coke out of any and every oriface he can find. All we care about is he makes decent fights and pays the fighters what they’re worth.
BTW, Oscar you have bigger issues such as the impending break up of GBP and losing half of your roster of fighters to Scahefer and Al Haymon.

ODH is a jealous hater. Floyd won the fight. Even looking at stats alone he landed more total punches and a much higher connection rate. 54% vs. 23% or something close to that. Like I’ve said before, this is boxing not wrestling. Maidanna threw a lot of punches but didn’t land much at all. We shouldn’t confuse effort with results.Posted May 5, 2014 7:35 am

One can agree with the first Castillo fight and also with the Maidana fight (a draw would have been the correct verdict I think), which could both have been a loss for Mayweather but the DLH fight was a close but clear win for Mayweather I think. DLH should look at his own fights and think about whether he deserved to win the Quartey and Sturm fights!Posted May 5, 2014 7:28 am

Maidana was simply more active of the two, but majority of punches were missed and blocked. Mayweather was more accurate handing out the more meaningful punches. This was by far a good performance by Mayweather, but still got the job done. Surprisingly it seemed Mayweather didn’t have an answer to stop the constant pressure, guess it was down to lack of power.
The rematch will be UD by FM. Otherwise good for Maidana and nice to see he is finally getting the recognition and paid well.Posted May 5, 2014 7:12 am
