a list: rigondeau, garcia, mayweather, porter, golovkin, ward, kovalev, klitschkoPosted May 9, 2014 8:02 pm
i just think its not gonna make or break a canelo vs cotto/martinez winner bout. canelo vs martinez should be a super fight. its gonna pay no matter what. hopefully martinez and canelo win and martinez body holds up. canelo as far as im concerned is a “fireworks” fighter. if hour a boxing fan, you do not miss this guy fight regardless. he is on the list of “must see” fighters.Posted May 8, 2014 10:26 pm
“This fight does not need any title.” … No, but it can use one to pull more $$$$$
It’s absolutely proven that world title fights pull more revenues. Why do think there’s so many world titles??? Promoters aren’t stupid … some fans may be.Posted May 8, 2014 1:36 pm
Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway: this will be a great fight and hats off to Canelo for taking a dangerous opponent.Posted May 8, 2014 12:54 pm
this fight does not need any title. this is an interesting match up, a proper fight. IMHO Alvarez promoters need to do something with him, bar Mayweather and Trout little on resume, feed a diet of welterweights, now we get to find out the real Alvarez, Lara is a talent in the light middle class, if he beats Lara, can move into middlewight division with head held high. if Martinez wins maybe face Alvarez in the last fight(s) of his time at the top, big money, big fight.Posted May 8, 2014 5:24 am
Lara is not unbeatable and no where near Mayweather’s skill level. Once Lara feels Cinna’s heavy hands he’ll be run boxing. Canelo 116-112Posted May 8, 2014 12:28 am
Bears.., “TARK- The title is irrelevant. People are following canelo regardless of titles. Martinez will fight canelo and a title adds nothing special same with cotto. It’s gonna pay to fight canelo if your martinez or cotto regardless of titles.”
I have to disagree here Bears.
It would make a HUGE difference versus Martinez if Canelo wins and is the 2-time Super Welterweight Champion of the World going after his 3rd World Title at 24.
Instead of being a non-champion coming in after losing 2 of his last 3 fights… Winning Lara’s title is extremely important… Canelo’s taking a calculated risk.Posted May 8, 2014 12:24 am
Canelo is a good well rounded fighter, but not great. Good technical boxers with good feet will beat him easily. Canelo can beat fighters that stand in front of him and fight him, but slick boxers will give him fits. Lara will prove me right. He will have Canelo missing and looking awkward all night. The only way Lara loses is because Canelo is the cash cow and he will bring in the best boxing fans in the world that are loyal and will pay big money over and over to see Their boxing idol. Las Vegas finds a way to bring in and keep their money makers. Lara has to dominate or he Will never win a decision. Lara is a skilled technician and will beat the best of the 154 and 147 pounders. Canelo is in trouble. Lara will dominate.Posted May 7, 2014 8:42 pm
I dont think canelo is over rated at all, just fraud mayweathers weak run the clock out win over canelo is over rated. Thats because casual fans do not know the catch weight determined the winner of the bout and RUINED the fight.Posted May 7, 2014 8:28 pm
Mayweather ran the clock out against a stamina-less canelo that even leonard ellerbe forecast in showtimes all access. I do not think ellerbe is a soothsayer by any means, i think he just stated the obvious about the effect the catchweight would have on canelo. canelo could not let his hands go, and was forced to box and use less energy. simple as that, and sometime he will say as much because its OBVIOUS.
Of course I’m taking the KID SAUL FIREWORKS ALVAREZ in this matchup!! This kid is awesome. ANYONE!!! following his career knows it. He has already claimed a plethora of good scalps and the manner in which he has done it also bodes well for him. No way he lets lara pot shot and win. NO WAY!
canelo all day!
TARK- The title is irrelevant. People are following canelo regardless of titles. Martinez will fight canelo and a title adds nothing special same with cotto. It’s gonna pay to fight canelo if your martinez or cotto regardless of titles. Public perception is more than enough here. Titles mean something if your mayweather selling bogus fights. Still can not believe the cherry (maidana) wooped that A$$ SON!!!!! Was that not awesome!!!Posted May 7, 2014 8:26 pm
this fight is a 50/50 fight lads,my moneys on lara,,, but i bet he gets robbedPosted May 7, 2014 8:13 pm
Canelo is gonna surprise and handle Lara who is a talented guy but often shows a certain apathy in the ring, watching him against Vanes, Molina and Angulo tells me that he can be beat and Canelo is a much better boxer than people give him credit for after Mayweather took him to school..Posted May 7, 2014 7:26 pm
This should be a good fight.Posted May 7, 2014 6:17 pm
Canelo is the most overrated fighter in the last 10 years. After having great boxers like Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr, Finito Lopez o Juan M. Marquez, the Mexican big market (> 110 millions in Mexico and > 35 millions in the US) needed a star, and then GB , HBO and Showtime fabricated this star-robot. Now they have one.Posted May 7, 2014 6:06 pm
Jejejeje anybody who uses the Angulo fight as a gage to how well Lara will do against Canelo, needs also remember how was Angulo’s face after 6 rounds. Then you will have an idea how sore Canela’s face will look after 3 o 4 rounds…Posted May 7, 2014 6:00 pm
he will get a fight against martinez title or not! he has a large fan base, ppv rules in this day and age not titles. too many titles, WBA two at most weights, thats just to get sanctioning fees, money! money makes fights ppv makes money.Posted May 7, 2014 5:12 pm
If Canelo does not allow Lara to get into his rythum by getting frustrated with Lara’s slickness he should overpower him.Posted May 7, 2014 3:58 pm
the return of the mexican hype job.Posted May 7, 2014 3:19 pm
“Canelo is not fighting for Lara’s title as it means nothing.”
It means a 2-time champ at 23. If you want to fight Sergio M next you want a title.Posted May 7, 2014 2:53 pm
Alvefrez will expose the overrated Lara.Posted May 7, 2014 2:03 pm
Im mexican and i feel canelo should be ashamed. Of himself……the way maidana bravely fought the clown of floyd way better than canelo did …maidana its a warrior …canelo is a golden boy puppet. ………………..de la hoya should start producing videos of how to wear fishnets and panties…Posted May 7, 2014 1:05 pm
canelo is not fighting for laras title as it means nothing. real WBA champion is mayweather. why pay sanctioning fees for a paper title.Posted May 7, 2014 12:18 pm
Lara is really confident. He must see something in Canelo’s style, he thinks he can exploit.Posted May 7, 2014 12:00 pm
Can’t wait for this fight!
If I had a gun to my head, I’d probably say that Canelo takes the early rounds and somewhat beats Lara up. But by the middle rounds, Canelo will have gassed a little and slowed his pace after which Lara will be able to turn the tables and cruise to a SD/MD victory.Posted May 7, 2014 9:00 am
$60 is cheap. I would pay $300, but then, I am rich, unlike y’all.Posted May 7, 2014 8:12 am
100% agree with Anonymous!Posted May 7, 2014 8:06 am
Lara is like a power punching Floyd a whistling dervish in the ringPosted May 7, 2014 8:00 am
I think this is Lara’s fight. I won’t be as hard as some think. Lara will frustrate and discombobulate this cat. Canelo may be close to 180 coming in, I bet, hoping for a KO. I don’t think he will be conditioned to maintain the energy necessary to move with Lara, or take the body shots coming at him.Posted May 7, 2014 7:29 am
caneloPosted May 7, 2014 7:01 am
This is a good fight dont get me wrong but making this $65 is robbery on Golden Boys part. This fight should be on regular Showtime to make up for the Angulo-Canelo PPV card.Posted May 7, 2014 6:27 am
A champion who won’t even discipline himself enough to make weight and fight for the title. Do us proud, Canelo.Posted May 7, 2014 6:17 am
Both are evenly matched, I expect a close decision win for Canelo. If he got a draw in his fight against Floyd even though it was bogus, they will find a way to give him the victory unless Lara knocks him out which is a long shot.Posted May 7, 2014 4:51 am
Those eye balling stare downs are getting a bit juvenile now..Don’t hold your breath hoping for a shot with Mayweather…..he’s running out of easy opponents,he just might turn it in…Posted May 7, 2014 3:52 am
Erislandy Lara will win
can’t wait for this fight. a true pick em fight. so who’s gonna win? I have no idea.Posted May 7, 2014 3:11 am
Wow!!!!Posted May 7, 2014 1:38 am
So basically Canelo is fighting in the 155lb weight class now and he does not even want to attempt to win Lara’s 154lb title? That’s just odd..overweight or not cut the weight and get it done.Posted May 7, 2014 1:35 am
