I’m going with Lara on this one. Not because I feel Lara is the most sounded boxers of the two, but because Canelo hasn’t shown anything yet…other than a lost to Floyd and a win over a has been El Perro.

If Canelo wins however, there shouldn’t be any more doubts about his potential…at least at 154. Then he can take on either Martinez or Cotto at 160. I doubt that Cotto would stay at 160 if he beats Martinez though, if that’s the case then Canelo-Cotto can take place at 154.

I don’t no who I’m taking here, I’ll wait until I c them train. I think Lara is a tuff matchup 4 Canelo? Lara has size, speed, southpaw, good movement, good counter puncher/Boxer….all the things Alvarez doesn’t seem 2 like. This will b a close 1 I think…

If Matthysse were to fight Thurman I’d go for it.

So this is PPV. Any word on the undercard? They’ll have to stack it up. Good main event but they gotta put on some of my faves like Matthysse or forget it.

The last thing this will be is an exciting fight, Lara will totally dominate this slow overrated ginger easily. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lara won every single round. Canelo is only good if he fights another slugger who stands right in front of him. Lara is the very opposite of that. Lara wins a very lopsided decision.

Posted May 10, 2014 6:30 am

TARK

Lara hasn’t been facing C level boxers.

Trout put a dominating boxing lesson on Miguel Cotto and fought a close fight with Canelo… Lara shut Trout out.

Angulo went longer with Canelo than his did with Lara. Lara got a couple hooks but he came back well from adversity.

The dudes below should think up their own moniker. Canelo to walk down search and finally destroy the Cuban exile. I remain in body and soul the ultimate boxing prophet of all times!

I hope for 2 things. Lara to put longer combos together. And for judging to be fair and reasonable. Then we may have a great event on our hands.

Posted May 9, 2014 9:42 pm

enough already

Good fight Lara hasnt been tested yet and Canelo is no joke no walk in the park. People talked all this crap about Lara but he hasnt fought anyone worth talking about until now. This will prove his stake at 154 plus he called out Canelo cant wait to see this one. Lara looked good but again he beat up c-level fighters….

Lara will make carrot organic juice with this clown at last,,,viva Cuba pingaa!!!

Great matchup, two well matched fighters here, i would favour Lara to win in a competitive exciting bout.

Excellent, evenly matched fight here. Boxing needs more such fights, not 12/1 underdog main events. Kudos to both Canelo and Lara for putting it on the line.

Canelo does super well against attackers like Angulo… Lara does super well with boxers like Trout.

Canelo does poorly with boxers like Floyd. Lara does poorly with attackers like Angulo — but at least he wins.

Is Canelo primarily an attacker or a boxer? … There’s your answer.

This fight is bad for canelo Lara is a great counter puncher but I think canelo by late tko in a barn burner type fight and believe me canelo will learn a lot from this fight!

Posted May 9, 2014 6:33 pm

HHLondon

Floyd gets stick for supposedly ducking Lara, Canelo steps up to make the fight and gets called a bum?

LMAO, some of you clowns are hilarious!

boxsterdermert, do you have all your predictions in yet? better cover all bases. call for a ko by each in every single round, a decision win by each, a draw, a no contest, and a dq win by each. you can’t go wrong. that takes a lot of disciples but you can do it.

“Largo.., This was the only logical fight for Canelo.”…TARK, you’re probable right & also it’s a fight we-the fans will certainly appreciate, but I was thinking more as a business decision; with Canelos popularity, he could put a couple of millions away fighting 2 or 3 bums & then take on a dangerous fighter like Lara. I personally think Lara is gonna drown him in the later rounds…

Lara will win a very boring one sided points decision.

Canelo by CUBAN CRUSHING late stoppage! The phony below get your own name and get a life while you are at it!

Posted May 9, 2014 10:24 am

BS

Got to give credit for both these fighters for taking this. 2 young fighters at the top of their division and willing to put it on the line for the fans and because they’re TRUE fighters, unlike other champions in boxing, ducking, dodging and skilfully avoiding fights the fans want to see to protect their ’0′ or another loss.

I got Canelo in this one. Whether it’s a boxing match, or a brawling-war, I think Canelo will win, but probably a close decision!

PS – you can never count Lara out the game though… Thought of this fight almost gives me butterflies! Could go anyway, but I stand by my prediction.

I think Lara beats Canelo but will likely get robbed.

TARK

Largo.., This was the only logical fight for Canelo.

They didn’t want to fight GGG. Martinez was busy with Cotto. They can’t just wait on him. They fought Angulo first to see if they could have what they considered a better showing than Trout had. Lara had already whitewashed Trout so Canelo-Lara made a lot of sense.

In Cuba for a time the thinking was to produce a lot of southpaws. The style is confusing to right handers who fight orthodox—which are the vast majority of global boxers that Cubans meet in international tournaments.

However, Lara once fought 10 southpaws in a row because Cuba was producing so many. So they’re back to letting right handed boxers box orthodox to rebalance the pool. Lara especially knew how to box guys like Trout, but he ran into Angulo’s left hooks like he didn’t really see them very well. He hasn’t faced another orthodox stance since — and the offer was made when Lara was deep into training for another fight.

So I can see what Canelo’s team could be thinking. They wouldn’t draw conclusions based solely on the Angulo fight; they’re looking at Martirosyan, Hernandez, Molina, etc.

Based on that—and the fact Lara has less than half of Canelo’s pro experience—they’re thinking this is the right time to go after Lara.

Canelo should be exploiting his popularity with 2 or 3 more fights with lesser opponents-cash in the bank-before facing a guy like Lara…Who the hell made this huge mistake??? I can only compare this blunder with Khan fighting Prescott…

Posted May 9, 2014 12:57 am

Canelo is showing serious stones by taking this fight – it shows that he wants to be the best junior middleweight. I’ll take him by a late stoppage – agree that Angulo had Lara badly hurt and Canelo is much better and stronger than Perro, but Lara can fight

Posted May 8, 2014 11:58 pm

PEEJ

Taking Canelo by late stoppage or decision.

Posted May 8, 2014 11:25 pm

Reality

Respect to Canelo for taking this fight….Lara is a solid fighter but Canelo will knock him out I feel. Like Rapid said, Angulo knocked Lara down and had him hurt. Canelo has much faster hands than Angulo, throws in combination and is far more skilled. It,s a competitive matchup, but my money is on the Scottish/Mexican kid Canelo.

Posted May 8, 2014 9:51 pm

This Clown lara is in for a beat down!! A turtle slow, wide swinging Angulo was able to get to Lara, Do they think Alverez is less technical?? If Lara doesn’t run around all night, he’s gonna get his A$$ handed to him!
