Martinez is not going to fight Cotto like Dick Tiger would…
He’s taller with a longer reach, and also very smart. He knows how to take advantage of his superior physicality He has a lot of expertise. He’s going to box and move and batter Cotto with a variety of shots. If he hurts Cotto and gets a great opportunity??? He’ll go for the KO.Posted May 16, 2014 4:21 pm
I don’t think Martinez is going to be moving away from Cotto in this fight. I think he is going to fight in an attacking manner, and do his best to KO Cotto.Posted May 16, 2014 3:30 am

Just saw the latest Sergio training video: My Man has two knee-braces and a elbow brace on a 39 year old, very inactive body from years of wear and tear and injury. All of which can effect his power, speed, and stamina because there is just to much imbalance going on right now. Hopefully, he can pull something together for fight-time.
Martinez fighting Cotto at 154 makes no sense. Cotto only wanted the fight to be at 160 so he can be a 4-Division World Champion. He saw how vulnerable Martinez looked in his last 2 fights. Martinez is 39 so Miguel feels this is the time to strike.
And a way to run from a 10MM offer to fight 23-year-old Canelo. A certain loss.Posted May 15, 2014 6:40 pm
PEEJ.., “He beat Pavlik plain and simple and got credit for it. Then he sat on the sideline forever. His career is still overrated. He took on the weakest titlest of them all in Chavez Jr. He claimed all the other titlest were unknown”
The other “titlists” especially Sturm, wouldn’t fight him.
He didn’t want to fight Golovkin, but he had lots of compny at 160. Pavlik ducked Paul Williams for 2 years. Martinez couldn’t wait to fight Williams … and put his skinny ass TF OUT!!!Posted May 15, 2014 5:57 pm
Martinez WANKER DODGING GGGGGGGGGGGGGPosted May 15, 2014 4:00 pm
I predict Martinez will lose power but gain speed, I think now that Martinez will geta S.D win why. Cotto can fight inside but he mostly a boxer by nature, an the key to beating Martinez is inside as he a boxer and can’t fight onside wide shoulder wide round house inside slow speed.
If cotto take the fight inside and dont run out of gas he win.
Anther reason why I wn martinez to win is I want to see martinez vs manny
PAC can beat him as PAC a better boxer and excell inside fighting. Roach has said PAC was 150 fight night. So this fight can e made as margarito was 165 lb fight night,
I really like both fighters, I don’t care who wins I just don’t want to see either of them get hurtPosted May 15, 2014 9:39 am
D’ Ugly Truth
Atleast cotto has the balls to fight martinez. I hope cotto has an extra balls to lend floyd.Posted May 15, 2014 5:20 am
I know it is not his fault about Pavlik, I wasn’t saying that. He beat Pavlik plain and simple and got credit for it. Then he sat on the sideline forever. His career is still overrated. He took on the weakest titlest of them all in Chavez Jr. He claimed all the other titlest were unknown and then went to fighting unknown middleweights with out titles and struggled in most of those fights. So what if he fought most of his career at 154. He moved up and then when the rematch was being made for the Williams fight he said he could no longer make 154 and the fight at to be at 157. So that tells me he can’t make 154 anymore so why was he calling out Floyd and Pac. Also when asked if he would fight Kirkland and Cotto he said it would also have to be at 160. So once again he can’t make 154 and his career is still overrated.Posted May 15, 2014 1:55 am
I like Miguel Cotto, hes a Hall of fame fighter no doubt. But he may be in over his head this time.Posted May 14, 2014 10:07 pm
Martinez legs won’t stand the pressure Cotto is going to put on him. I see it a UD or Late TKO Cotto. Martinez feels good now but when he is under pressure his legs are going to give up.Posted May 14, 2014 9:33 pm

I’m not convinced abut Martinez but I remember the way he put the “ole smack down” on Paul Williams, he did that with style, but in his last fight he looked poor, struggled a bit but his upcoming opponent Cotto, hasn’t looked good for a while. So, this is a “cross-roads fight” for both. I suspect that Cotto will loose but I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow he was victorious… Let’s see which Martinez comes to fight but I can also say the same about Cotto, let’ see which Cotto shows up to fight ?? … Guaranteed
Martinez was avoided then and now he is avoiding GGG.Posted May 14, 2014 9:06 pm

My opinion about Martinez is mixed, he’s old but I loved the way he put the ole smack down on Paul Williams a few years ago but, that was a years ago.. Now he’s older and in his last fight he didn’t look too impressive.. his opponent, Cotto has been strugglig ove the past few fights he’s haDPosted May 14, 2014 9:03 pm
cotto is prime. no brain damage. he was brutalized with plaster casts in one fight but after a long rest his neurological assessments were 100%. he wouldn’t fight if there were there any danger to his mental facultiesPosted May 14, 2014 4:04 pm
Cotto should have retired a while ago, seems like he isn’t aware that he is suffering more and more damage to his brain with every clean shot that lands on him. He’s another fighter that just won’t quit, cotto way past his prime still fighting for what purpose I cannot figure out. Is cotto so desperate for past glory.Posted May 14, 2014 1:14 pm
Cotto made mistake. Should’ve took the Canelo fight for more money. Now hes gonna get beat up for less…Posted May 14, 2014 1:08 pm
Cotto got this!Posted May 14, 2014 12:56 pm
DANY TARK……your soap opera its so stupidPosted May 14, 2014 11:05 am
Sergio. Its one of the best pound for pound. Fighters. Of the planet …..just remember that he is a natural. 154Pounder beating up monsters at 160. Is fair to him to want to fight fraud. At 154. To bad the black. Clown. Do not have and will never have the balls to fight the amazing MartinezPosted May 14, 2014 10:52 am
Fight might have been better a few years ago. Cotto has had too many wars and has taken a beating in those fights even when he won. Magartio loaded gloves not loaded punished Cotto and took years off his career. Lost to Trout and didn’t look good. He beats up some espn guy Delvin Rodriguez and I have to believe he is back. I just hope Cotto puts up a fight and is competative. Martinez has shown some decline but not as far gone as Cotto is. Taking the less dammaged guy on this one. For the uneducated in the fight game. Martinez calls out Floyd and Manny not because they are smaller, but they bring a bigger payday. It’s called Prize Fighting. Nobody wants to fight Floyd or Manny they want the payday. That’s why old man Hopkins calls out Floyd.Posted May 14, 2014 10:18 am
Martinez will knock Cotto out, he is bigger, faster, hits harder, has more stamina, has superior defense……………Posted May 14, 2014 2:09 am
Because he hasn’t come close to fighting the top contenders or titlest in his division. Yeah he beat a Pavlik but that win does not look as good now. He squandered any momentum he had after beating an overrated Williams and a drunk Pavlik that was in and out of rehab. He should of lost to Murray. Constantly calling out smaller fighters in Floyd and Pac. Yeah I would say he is overrated.Posted May 14, 2014 1:01 am
PEEJ.., “Only reason Martinez would win this is because of his size. Martinez is overrated and am hoping Cotto can pull of the win here.”
PEEJ.., How is Martinez overrated when he held the middleweight title 4 years and is 39-years-old??? He never pulled on a glove until he was in his 20’s. The old timer is going to beat the crap out of this little twerp Cotto.Posted May 14, 2014 12:01 am

Sergio has to much in the kit for CottoPosted May 13, 2014 10:05 pm
Cotto will put up a scrap but Martinez is going to throw a beatdown.Posted May 13, 2014 9:54 pm
Only reason Martinez would win this is because of his size. Martinez is overrated and am hoping Cotto can pull of the win here.Posted May 13, 2014 7:56 pm
I think that when it comes time to reach down into your soul to pull off a win, Martinez has the edge. I think Martinez will take Cotto deep and Cotto folds. I love both guys, they have been there and done that but I give Martinez the edge based on styles.Posted May 13, 2014 6:52 pm
The grasshopper will be stop before eight cotto is faster now and stronger once Martinez legs are gone from lack of movement due to a lot of punishment on his body he will open his mouth like a fish and Martinez will be a sitting duck and the fight will be stop . Cotto by TKOPosted May 13, 2014 6:25 pm
Martinez is a tiny mw, but still big enough for a blown up ww. Cotto is a great fighter and I have massive respect, but he is gonna get wrecked.Posted May 13, 2014 6:04 pm
Martinez will win by KO. Unless he breaks both of his knees during the fight.Posted May 13, 2014 5:04 pm
This fight is difficult to predict as both fighters are past their prime. It’ll come down to who is in the better shape and who can last the most without suffering an injury.
Cotto will have to get inside in order to get to Martinez’ mid section. However, Martinez has proven that he can keep his distance, so it will not be an easy task for Cotto.
Cotto should test Martinez knee by moving side to side and rough him up in the inside…push him and make Martinez use his legs.
I take Cotto by decision, but it really can go either way.Posted May 13, 2014 4:43 pm
Tark, you old fool…….. SMHPosted May 13, 2014 3:46 pm
If a sorry fighter like Chavez can drop martinez, can you imagine what Cotto will do to him? If a B level fighter can drop martinez, can you imagine what Cotto will do to him. Cotto will effectively attack the body and drop him in the later rounds. Cotto wins by SD.Posted May 13, 2014 3:35 pm
Sergio seems very sure of himself for this fight. Good Luck, to both………Posted May 13, 2014 3:28 pm
There are a bunch of morons on this thread. This fight will go down to who has the most will in the later rounds… my prediction: Cotto by split decision.Posted May 13, 2014 3:22 pm
Uhh whatta hot photo!!!!Posted May 13, 2014 3:17 pm
Cotto will be punished ,, worst than pacquido punish him ,,,,Posted May 13, 2014 3:09 pm
Martinez is the naturally bigger man,and has been at MW along time, I can see him knocking out Cotto.Cotto is to brave for his own good.Posted May 13, 2014 3:07 pm
Just bustin Freddie’s balls. A solid trainer but someone needs to call him out on this more as he is quite upfront about how he chooses “some” opponents. I give him credit for admitting it. After all, it is a strategy in nature: Wait until the King Lion gets Old to attack him.Posted May 13, 2014 2:59 pm
danni. you have to have scales today so they can weighin 36 hours before they fight.
I’m saying way back in the day they didn’t really care. You had little guys fighting much bigger guys. Ex: Sam Langford.Posted May 13, 2014 2:57 pm
We’ve heard that time and time again from aging fighters: I’ve never felt better. It’s a lie to psyche themselves up into believing it.
Listen, if Freddie Roach wants to fight you, you know you were once a great fighter who is coming home from war with a purple heart on his chest and several life-threatening injuries that has shortened your life.
Freddie is the type of guy that waits to see which fighter is wheeled into the hospital so he can sign him up to face his fighters.
Freddie: “Just sign here”
Damon he looks old and he’s my age and in way better shape in mePosted May 13, 2014 2:51 pm
His body never felt better??? LOL, in one photo of him shadow boxing in the ring he is clearly wearing knee bands and knee braces. Boxers alway claim to be feeling super fantastic so they don’t hurt gate receipts for their biggest money fight.
At his age, and with his history, another injury could happen at any time. I expect him to beat Cotto, but the question marks are his age, reflexes, speed, and the condition of his knees—which held up very poorly in his last two fights… If he’s the full package he should win with little effort, but why do you need the braces?Posted May 13, 2014 2:36 pm
to many of these modern fighters fighting out of their weight class.
Mmm, you do realize that fighters “back in the day” often fought “out of their weight-class”, right? Especially way way back. Scales? who needs a scale.
Original boxing had only ONE weight class.Posted May 13, 2014 2:30 pm
Hopefully EMS will be on standby and close by. Martinez is going to hurt Cotto. Cotto has a hard tine quitting ,thats not good in tgis fight. No Joke. I know Roach is getting dumber as we speak but Hopefully Cottos team throws in towel if they have to.Posted May 13, 2014 12:56 pm
