Wilder falls over when he misses a punch, it`s actually rather comical.
As is putting on two right gloves and missing an uppercut against a guy on the floor not moving.
He is getting knocked out by the first half-decent fighter he faces who can time a straight rightPosted May 16, 2014 9:45 pm
The jury is still out on Wilder…and if he loses 1 or 2 fights the critics will go into overdrive with stories, tweets, and posts… This is what happens today to any top athlete. They all have 10 million critics.
Wladimir had legions of critics who blasted him for many, many years… Some clowns like Teddy Atlas haven’t let up.
At one point even Vitali asked Wladimir to quit, “I’ll make all the money we’ll ever need. You don’t have the chin of a boxer. You can’t go on risking your health.”
When everybody stops believing in you, you have to believe in yourself… When his own kin told Wladimir he was delusional, he said, “Possibly. We’re going to find out just how delusional I am because I’m not going to quit… Do you understand that?”Posted May 16, 2014 4:06 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)
Wilder is often billed at 6’7″ with an 84″ reach, but his real measurements are 6’6 1/2″ with an 83″ wingspan. He’s only slightly taller and longer that Wlad, so would’ve have any legit physical advantages as far as size goes.
DW has dynamite in his right hand and can stop anyone IF he lands that shot clean. But his overall technique is still amateurish and unpolished in many ways. He throws big roundhouse, looping windmills — as opposed to straight punches — and his flurries often appear to be wild and inefficient, lacking control. He has not yet developed his jab into a highly effective weapon. And I don’t think his left hook carries nearly as much power as his right. DW’s defensive skills also appear to be limited as this point and his chin is one BIG question mark.
An absolute tin can named Sconiers with a pathetic 18-27 record and 23% KO ratio knocked Wilder down. Feather-fisted Firtha (24% KO ratio) hit DW with a simple jab that stunned him, knocked him totally off balance and reeling backwards a few feet. David Haye buckled DW’s legs and d@mn near knocked him down with one shot during a sparring session (with headgear).
I understand that many Americans are desperate for another HW champion, but it’s almost as if DW is getting opportunities he doesn’t really deserve. If I’m not mistaken, he’s never even beat an opponent ranked in the top 25-30. I think I understand the WBC’s process, but just don’t think DW has done enough to earn a shot at a world title.
I’m not even close to jumping on the DW bandwagon. Maybe if he beats Stiverne and 2-3 other top 10 contenders, I’ll start to change my mind. But the first top-tier HW he faces — with a solid chin, good power and quality defensive skills — who rushes him, forces him to fight on his heels, and lands a few bombs on that suspect chin is going to give him REAL problems. I’m not sure if Stiverne can do it, but there are a few HWs in the top 10 who are capable.Posted May 16, 2014 3:03 pm
… “Wilder is an ear puncher”
Ears are a legal target, since they reside on the side of the head on most people.
When you’re a very tall boxer with a big right hand, you tend to hit much shorter boxers in the temple, ear, and on top of the head a lot … as they try to duck under and inside your right.Posted May 16, 2014 2:18 pm

I would like to see Pulev/Wilder or Stiverne/Wilder because Stiverne seems to have a long reach jab, and Wilder does not like to get popped by a jab. Pulev also has the jab to pop Wilder, and we all know Wlad has the jab to KO Wilder with. I think Wilder’s poor footing and birdlegs will be his downfall. I really think Sergie thought he could jab and get through to Wilder, but the haymakers got him in the ears. Wilder is an ear puncher.Posted May 16, 2014 11:33 am
Pulev vs Stiverne would be a Hell of a matchup… I also like Jennings vs Wilder… Takam vs Fury… Perez vs Browne… and Ruiz vs Glazkov

Fight Aficionado: “Hey, did you guys ask my questions RE: Wilder’s plans ie. forcing mandatory vs Stiverne and then stepping up to Wlad?”
Sure did, FA…check out the first 20 minutes of the program…he talks about refusing to step aside for a Wlad/Bermane unification bout, as well as his run in with internet troll Charlie Z…he even gives one of the ESB extended family members a “Bomb Squad” shout-out.
Enjoy, brother!!Posted May 15, 2014 4:00 pm

Thanks Joseph Herron!!!!Posted May 15, 2014 12:27 pm
Deontay’s defense????? He has only an offense at this point. This is what people should be praising him for. He has not had to use much defense. We know Stiverne can stand and take the shots. This is where Deontay’s defense is come in. If KO’s Stiverne, Wilder is an offensive freak.Posted May 15, 2014 11:27 am
I see this fight being fairly easy for Wilder unless Bermane can successfully cut off the ring and work his way inside of Deontay’s defense to land short, compact hooks on the inside.
But this won’t be easy for Stiverne.
The foundation of Deontay’s footwork is his defense…the 6’7″ fighter is surprisingly athletic and agile…he can move around the ring with relative and use his jab and footwork to keep most fighters at a safe distance.
With Wilder’s jab, left hook, and straight right hand, I just can’t see Bermane being able to work his way inside effectively.
Wilder with a mid to late rounds stoppage.Posted May 15, 2014 9:36 am
Joseph Herron, who wins, stiverne or wilder?Posted May 15, 2014 5:01 am
All good points, John
The beautiful thing about boxing is that the truth eventually comes out in the ring.
And the truth about Deontay Wilder will eventually reveal itself when he fights for the WBC Heavyweight title later this year. Until then, we’re just going to have to adhere to whatever theory we believe is realistic concerning the 28 year old Bronze medalist.
Like Hall of Fame promoter and matchmaker Don Chargin stated on the program, “don’t get excited about a fighter until you know whether or not he can take a punch.”
But will we ever see Wilder take a good shot?
Just like Wladimir Klitschko several years ago, it was “common knowledge” that the dominant champion had a glass jaw, and all you had to do to defeat Wlad was apply pressure and land that punch to the chin.
Many years later, and the “glass jaw” theory has pretty much been forgotten…why?
Because his footwork is such where it’s become almost impossible to land a perfect shot to the chin of the 6’6″ champion.
Have you noticed any similarities between the fight styles of Wlad and Deontay? They both use their feet as the foundation of their defense and don’t merely stand in the pocket looking to counter their opposition.
Just as in Wladimir’s case, I’m not sure we’ll see Deontay have to take a good shot until he fights someone who is at least 6’4″ or taller.Posted May 15, 2014 4:11 am
Jonn E. JaGozza
I have nothing good to say about Wilder …his 31-0 record is against nobodies who aren’t even ranked… IS this boxing or protecting one’s record, put him with a veteran fighter and let’s see how good he really is, I bet Shannon Briggs would give him a good fight and who the hell, or what the hell, is Briggs now except a wannabee and a former champ, and I have to swallow hard saying that word “former champ” in reference to Shannon Briggs, who is fighting for the money but he’ s way past his prime.. but again, let’s see how Wilder would do against him, Worse scenario would be that Briggs would end up in retirement.. nothing wrong with that … Boxingdictionary.com …’The Language of the Ring “Posted May 14, 2014 9:01 pm

I think Deontay Wilder is gonna take it to the top. He’s got size and tenacity. He’s ferocious, and that’s something lacking in the heavyweight division. Charlie Zelenoff is a clown, and has been known as such for a long time in the internet boxing fandom world. He got exactly what was coming to him. For Wilder, I don’t think there are many out there that really want to fight him. We’ll have to see. Eventually it’s a showndown with Klitschko.Posted May 14, 2014 3:41 am
