Quillin talks a big game, but he’s still an undercard fighter. And he seems to be more concerned about “getting paid what he deserves” more than seeking the biggest challenges. As long as the Cold War continues, we’ll never see Golovkin vs. Quillin nor Martinez vs. Quillin. Instead we’ll see Quillin vs. Daniel Jacobs which is still just an undercard fight IMO.

Kiddie Chocolate wouldn’t stand a chance against Golovkin. It wouldn’t last long before Kiddie was smashed to pieces.

it’s not that Marquez beat Mile High that impressed me. I was impressed that he worked real hard and was determined to win the last 30 seconds even of the rounds he had won clearly. This is something that he realises could have lost him the W vs Bradley.

He is now mandatory WBO challenger for Pacquiao, which will probably happen in November as be wants that 5th world title at different weights.

TARK, you will know this…. I think DINAMITA is driven partly because he has a real hatred for Erik Morales and he wants to set himself apart from all other Mexicans to be a 5 weight world champion.

If I’m mistaken about the rivalry with El Terrible, I apologise but its something I picked up within the game a long while ago!

“He’s something new. He’s something raw. But, let me tell you, eventually what happens is they’re going to put all their money into a guy that’s not really connecting to people. He’s not really connecting to fans. What is he doing?”

This really sounds like Quillin talking about himself than it could possibly sound like Golovkin. Last I checked, people were actually watching him in much larger droves destroy his opponents than Quillin get saved by refs and judges against his.

TJ… Marquez is an ATG but he didn’t impress me… He wanted to fight Mike Alvarado who he knew couldn’t box a lick… It was a clever cherry pick.

He didn’t want to fight Ruslan Provodnikov, the guy who trashed Alvarado.

TARK, Quillin has been a bug disappointment, but so too have so many fighters who end up snaring a version of a title. I agree with you about Khan. Sadly, it seems that it’s more about how loud you can talk, who you’re connected with and how many Facebook follows you have that determines who makes it to the lucrative paydays in boxing.
I would much prefer boxers fight their way up and earn their lofty positions. I doubt it’s any coincidence that in most people’s P4Ps we have guys who are 35, 37, 41 and nearly 50 years old. There’s nothing wrong with talent, but aligned to experience that is when it becomes a dynamite combination and very, very hard to beat.
Some fighters reach a position and seem to settle and think they are untouchable, but to be honest that is just the start of their journey towards immortality.
Guys like Quillin need to evaluate just what it is they want out of the sport and then to seriously work out how they are going to go about achieving it.
JMM impressed me last night, not because he beat MILE HIGH, hit in the fact even in the rounds he was winning he made sure with 30 and 10 seconds to go he really pounded on Alvarado to let the judges know, “this is my round!”
Obviously he learned from the Bradley fight and the third Pacquiao fight to leave no seed of doubt in a judges mind. This 41 year old is still determined to get better, work harder and be smarter in the ring. There’s a lot to be said for experience!

LOOKS LIKE GGG wants to bypass his mandatory Jarrod Fletcher and face Daniel Geale at Madison Square Garden in July and is very open to FROCH or Groves and the winner of Martinez and COTTO and even the come backing Kessler.

There is nothing there… Khan is a 3 time World Champ and can’t defend himself.. Quillin is a crap fighter.. He has NO jab for starters..

He not only cannot beat GGG or Martinez, he could not beat Cotto, Lara, or Canelo. He would not have beaten Pavlik. Outside of Sturm, he’s worst cherry-picker since Jermain Taylor.

TARK, sorry I’ve been busy elsewhere. Chavez Jnr and Golovkin has stalled for various reasons and I believe GGG doesn’t want to sit out for a prolonged period. He’s thrown his hat into the arena for FROCH and Groves as he is already trying for 168. I believe get us laying down his mark as he knows FROCH would love to go out in a really big fight in Vegas.

FROCH’s toughness vs the hammer fists of Golovkin would sell out any venue…. I think it would be a harder sell if Groves wins.

Arum may leave Jnr in limbo if he doesn’t ding an extension… He may well force him to sit out his contract.

The next few weeks should prove interesting, both in and out of the ring!

GGG stops Kid Chocolate inside the distance and it wouldn’t be very competitive. Peter doesn’t want that fight. And TARK certainly has the beat with some great posts, real talk.

KID CHOCOLATE represents the issue I have with boxing today. He is actually a nice guy, but he has only had 15 amateur contests and by beating Winky Wright (who’d had 1 bout in 4 years) it meant he was now fighting at a level that he was not seasoned to, far too early.
There must be something there for he is now a world champion with 3 defences, but he like so many other fighters has been rushed into the big time and has no real experience to fall back on.

Qillin looked a million dollars beating a semi-retired Winky and like a devastating puncher in winning the title, but he is now swimming with the big boys with very little experience to arm himself with.

The best thing he could do is live on the gym, getting the best sparring and try and fight 4 times a year defending his crown and learning the craft, before he even thinks about Golovkin or Martinez.

Sometimes it’s a good thing to take a couple of steps back in order to love forward and ensure you keep moving forward.

Yes, he has bags of potential, but he is vastly lacking in experience.

My advice to any young boxer who wishes to be a genuine world class fighter is to get lots of experience by living the life and getting regular sparring and regular bouts, going through the right levels before stepping up in class. Experience is something that is overlooked and can never be bought – it has to be learned. When the chips are down, if you haven’t got the experience what on earth are you going to fall back on?

Smooker says.., “Go to the ghetto and see what you find.”

I used to go there every day to train as a young man. I would often shop and hang out there because I knew a few families there. Ghetto dwellers are the same as everyone else. Some bright ones, some dumb ones, some nice ones, some arrogant ones, some well dressed ones, some poorly dressed ones, some well spoken ones, some blathering ones, some tolerant happy and loving ones, some judgmental scornful and prejudiced ones, some helpful friendly and talkative ones, some withdrawn moody and belligerent ones.

Any zip code you go to it’s pretty much the same, except in wealthy areas where people’s privacy is protected by gates—which is my situation. No Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, salespeople, solicitors, or political candidates come to my door. A friend of mine who lives in a poor neighborhood has a sign on his door that says, “For kry sake… LET US LIVE!!!”

This is not the time for Ward-Golovkin… Golovkin needs a fight at 168 to acclaimate himself… and the fight needs a longer buildup.

Posted May 17, 2014 5:30 pm

TJ

TARK, you may not have heard, but we have a new potential foe for the winner of FROCH and Groves!

Gennady Golovkin has thrown his hat into the ring to step up to 168 and face the winner or even to face ANDRE Ward. (looks like GGG vs Chavez Jnr could well be dead in the water)!

It makes May 31st even more important now as the winner has a mega fight lined up, if DEGALE agrees to step aside!

I would like the winner of FROCH and Groves to face GGG or Ward and the loser to face DEGALE in the undercard. ideally FROCH vs GGG or SOG and Groves vs DEGALE II!

I’m glad because Groves has been bragging that he’s ready right now for the likes of SOG! Right now the winner will have DEGALE, SOG, GGG and KESSLER breathing right down their necks and even Sakio BIKO has expressed an interest in fighting the winner.

The SMW division could very well end up being unified within the next 18 months!

Dot you know lumping people together is ignorant at best, but represents that it is you holes who are the racists. Some black people vote Tory, some vote Republican, some even stand for UKiP, you idiots.
The only thing that cannot be argued is facts and the one and indisputable fact in boxing is that at the start of the 20th Century we had a Campaign for THE GREAt WHITE HOPE, which suggests to me that SOME white people did not like the fact there was a Black heavyweight champion called Jack Johnson! Even that shyster J. Edgar Hoover tried his best to arrest Johnson on some bogus laws. When Johnson won the title there were lots and lots of lynchings as people were so outraged a black man could hold the top prize in sports. These are all verifiable facts you can GOOGLE, you can watch the film Unbelievable Blackness.
When you have hard evidence to back up your crap that black people do not like white or European boxers please come back here and present it to us or is your assumption based on 53 posters you assume are black, even though they are anonymous on this site.
I would hate to take out legal advice, or health or financial advice from you 2 tools based on your fact less witherings and evidenceless assumptions.
Yes, there are some black people who dislike whites, just as there are some white people who dislike blacks and why don’t you look at how some Eastern Europeans treats black soccer players on their own teams and come back to me with your findings.
You 2 imbeciles have an agenda which stinks and which we won’t play. This is not a perfect world we live in, but don’t peddle your crap here.

Russian, ukrainian british, argentine and so on. most of them seem to feel extremely threatened and insecure by seeing white fighters achieving high levels of success in this sport.

That’s right Tark, clearly Golovkin is connecting with fans. And I think Quillin sounds a little jealous to me as well. What a silly thing to suggest that knocking guys out isn’t enough to be a star, it seemed to work pretty well for Mike Tyson. Quillin can cry about how he’s mastered the subtleties of being a champ, like staying positive and giving inspirational talks to kids, but nothing stirs up that rabid interest amongst the public like a knockout king. And yes, it is the sweet science and all that, but the appeal of the brutal, animal like nature of a knockout is something that has a very universal magnetism for us humans. As long as Golovkin can deliver that, then the boxing fans will watch him, it’s as simple as that.

Spiderman’s Sticky Jizzpipe

Black people really have a problem with Eastern Europeans don`t they? There’s this thing of Euro’s calling poor Poles, Czechs, Ukranians or whatever “White n199ers”, because of their immigration into other richer European countries and forming an underclass.

Exactly the kind of underclass who see boxing as a way out and will work their backsides off to make it. YOu see it in Eastern Euro female tennis players, and you can see it in male boxers.

They are displacing black people from areas where they traditionally drew pride – such as hard pro sports like boxing, and it is causing a bit of an identity crisis.

That’s why the black guys just talk this kind of crap about people like Golovkin, it undermines them on so many levels.

It means black guys have to accept their high level displays in boxing were based on social conditions not on genetic superiority.

The more intellectual among them can accept this, since they do not feel the need to believe in athletic superiority, but for the lower level intellects – the non school finishers, and so on, this will be most objectionable.

I always have to laugh when boxers say they would fight their own mother. They mean friend or foe, you better stay clear of their punching range.

Joe Frazier always used to say he would knock his mother out. He was pretty cold blooded about money.

When Frazier’s son Marvis had 10 fights Joe matched him with Larry Holmes, “I don’t care … it’s the money man. You don’t turn down money like that. You’re gonna get knocked out. So what? You wake up and you got money to spend.”

I loved it when he signed to fight Foreman.

Im my opinion Quillin dose not have a large fan base because he is kind of boring to watch , like Hopkins. I know Hopkins is 1 of the best middleweights of his generation but to watch him clutch and hold and grab , and fall out of the ring like he did in one of his bouts with Robert Allen , and pull that stunt that he pulled in his first bout with Dawson. just boring. I think Quillin may come from the same mold? I guess that could even be taken as a compliment?

Posted May 16, 2014 2:43 pm

GGG would cleanup the MW division if boxing was on the up and up, unfortunately it is not. Promoters and managers have ruled this business since inception and will continue to do so. The ambitions of money making always conflict with the desires of the boxer. Peter Quillin should not expect to go any further in his quest to be the best MW. His talents are not at that level, although he’s convinced that he is. He is being marketed as a top talent so as to maximize revenue potential to the business people. Truth is that if he was thrown in with some of the best he would eventually wind up as a “young journeyman” . Another balooka who thought he could become champ or at least a contender.

Sturm is not going to have that IBF title for long if he fights the very best MWs.

After all, he got his ears boxed off by Macklin and was gifted a home-cooked decision in Germany. That fight was for the WBA title, so Macklin should’ve walked away with the belt. (Of course Mack would’ve lost it to Maravilla less than a year later.)

I feel that the undefeated WBO World Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs) is for now after Gennedy Golovkin the most exciting boxer in the middleweight division.

Seriusly, the middleweight division have in my view bled a lot in later years of real entertaining champions and fighters exept Golovkins dominance in the ring and Sergio Martinez is a skilled boxer but havent been that great champion sence he won the world middleweight title from Kelly Pavlik (and split the remaning unified crown WBC/WBO for the once unifed undisputed middleweight crown unifed belt by belt by Hopkins) back in 2010.

Felix Sturm is NOTHING to talk about as he is jus a model boy and the champion of cherry picking and ducking.

I have felt a sorrow becouse of this as back in the day when the middleweight division was ruled by Bernard Hopkins, William Joppy, Keith Holmes, Felix “Tito” Trinidad, Winky Wright, Jermain Taylor, Arthur Abraham, Kelly Pavlik, Howard “The Bartersa Bomber” Eastman, Edison Miranda, and on and on are gone and was never filled with new excitment in the wounded middleweight class.

I will welcome another series of middleweight title unifications. Lineal/WBC champion Sergio Martinez – WBA champion gennedy Golovkin, WBO champion Peter Quillin vs. IBF champ Felix Sturm!

Shut your h0le Chocolate and stop hiding from 3G already! Your ongoing ducking charades are getting real old.

He’s not really connecting to fans. What is he doing? Knocking people out? How’s that connecting to anybody?”

SCRT: Of course 3G is connecting to fans. He gains thousands of new fans every time he fights on HBO. 3G is on a 16-fight KO streak and that’s connecting to fans in a BIG way because fans love to see knock outs. They love to see all action seek-and-destroy fighters who brutalize guys and finish fights. Not dancers who back-pedal around the ring for 12 rounds, throwing feather-fisted jabs that barely graze the faces of their opponents.

PQ: “They forget that I’m American. That man’s from Kazakhstan [and] he’s got a big Kazakhstani following. I’m American and I don’t even got American supporters. That’s crazy.”

SCRT: If you want fans to remember you’re an American, stop wearing the Cuban flag on your trunks. And stop wearing Cuba hats and shirts in public all the time. Trying to look like a member of the Cuban national team is not going to help you build a huge fan-base in the U.S. To way to gain droves of fans is to finally man-up and face 3G and beat him. That will earn you more respect and more fans that beating a 40-year- old injury ridden Martinez. Real boxing fans know who the REAL MW champion of the world is.
