You guys can try all the buzzwords you want as it pertains to Mayweathers defensive style “Philly Shell” “Shoulder Roll” ect…The net result is massive frustration for his opponents and an edge in the ring that Lara will fall prey to just like everyone elsePosted May 20, 2014 10:52 am
Fighter87…, “@ TARK.., Mayweather is not scared of Lara, Pac etc Floyd eats those type of fighters for lunch! Lara – May would be boring… I find it very hard to believe that Lara is going to do anything but counterpunch. Khan could at least make it FUN TO WATCH… HE CAN BOX!”
Khan CANNOT box… Herrera boxed Danny Garcia 10 times better than Khan did… Khan go KTFO.. Khan sucks doorknob.
Lara would knock Khan out immediately if not sooner… Lara-Mayweather would not be boring at all.. Floyd would be getting hit too often for you to be bored.. Floyd can’t handle super slick, masterful southpaws who can strike like lightning with both hands.. Floyd even got blooded up by Cotto’s jab and Trout handled Cotto easily … Lara made Trout look like a rank amateur after Trout beat the fk out of Cotto.Posted May 19, 2014 10:12 pm

Fook PPV, who gives a damn, it’s bollocks. You can watch all the fights online for free anyway.
Duckweather should man up and fight GGG at 154 instead of being the con artist chicken that he clearly is. If he hasn’t got the guts to defend his 154 title then he should be forced to fight Porter or Thurman at 147. If Fraud Ducky refuses to do that then he should have all his fights wiped from the record books. Sweet P Whittaker was a million times better than Fraud Duckweather.Posted May 19, 2014 3:05 pm

Odd that these two can’t come to terms. Probably Floyd’s fault as he doesn’t want to eat all those lefts.Posted May 19, 2014 2:59 pm
I read Pac-Bradley did 665,000 and Floyd-Maidana 887,000. Both guys’ numbers are down but they’re still banking profits. Thing is if they fought each other even in today’s oversaturated PPV market and with both on the decline from their 2009-2012 peaks, it would do 2.5 million. Hopefully since they won’t fight they both get KTFO as punishment.Posted May 19, 2014 2:05 pm

Fighter87.., It’s no nonsense to say Floyd is ducking the best. Saul Alvarez was not the best.. Saul was 22 when he signed to fight Floyd — at least 8 years before his boxing skills peak—because he had almost no amateur experience.
Plus he’s been fighting without headgear since age 15. That’s a lot of head shots directly to the skull while his brain was still maturing.
Better, more mature boxers closer to their peak skills are: Lara… Porter… Brook… Thurman… and even Pacquiao… Floyd won’t fight them and you know damned well he won’t.

Some of you haters are just too much to handle. All the time you guys come up with all these excuses why you dislike Floyd. One of the criticisms was , Floyd only fights easy fights Yet he fights a younger, bigger and primed top ranked super welter weight in Canelo Alvarez, yet you guys refuse to give Floyd any credit. Then he fights a little monster in Madiana, who out weighed Floyd by 15+ pounds and it was the toughest fight of Floyds career and yet again you guys criticize by saying that Floyd had trouble with a guy that isn’t even ranked in the top 10. The Bible of Boxing
Sorry but only people who started watching boxing recently would say he is the best defensive ever. He is not even the best in the past 25. And Nunn is not in Floyd’s class.
Floyd and Pac are both on the decline. The PPV numbers mirror this decline. To me it’s amazing they can still sell 800,000 buys in a bad economy. I have not bought a ppv from them in a long time. Just not worth the money. I’d pay to see them fight each other but it sure has lost most of it’s luster and it would almost be worth seeing it the next saturday for free. The best matches in boxing are still not made. For 69.95$ i would expect to see Mayweather – Pacquiao , with Stevenson – Kovalev and GGG vs either Martinez or Chavez Jr as the undercard support. Mayweather bragged about the most expensive undercard of all time. GTFO!!! Khan holding and clinching and running all night and Broner in with a bum, that was a great undercard worth millions? Our standards are absolute garbabe the bar has been lowered so much and the media and Showtime and HBO just take it. The same can be said about the movies and music being made of today. People have no standards any more, mediocrity is being marketed as greatness.Posted May 17, 2014 8:56 pm

On the evidence of Maidana and Soto-Karass, Maidana would absolutely obliterate Amir Khan in devastating fashion. He has some brutal, cannon ball short right hands to go with his over-arching right and looping left hooks.
Maidana tried and missed with a sucker punch attempt at the end of the 6th and he got deducted another point in the 7th round. Maidana tried to sneak in a dirty, low blow on the wrong side of Bayless , but he hit caught and punished!
Havoc agreed!Posted May 17, 2014 4:11 pm
Just re watching Maidana vs Soto-Karass and Maidana punched him blatantly after the bell to end the 3rd round which sparked a minor melee. Kenny Bayless then had to warn them and he deducted a point from both fighters seconds into the 4th telling them, “stop with the rough stuff or someone’s getting disqualified!”
Maidana has a history of infractions, but I like him as a warrior.
The Soto-Karass fight is a tough, old punch up, but you can see the subtle improvements in Maidana in this fight already.Posted May 17, 2014 4:00 pm

Canelo was a legitimate threat!Posted May 17, 2014 2:47 pm
It doesn’t seem that hard to understand. Bradley doesn’t have much of a following, so he does little to contribute to ppv buys. With Mayweather, his ppv numbers against Alvarez were great because Canelo was seen as a legitimate threat due to his size and power, but the Maidana fight drew low numbers due to most fans believing he had little to no chance of beating Mayweather. As much as a lot of people will say they are over the idea of a Floyd-Pac fight, you know the ppv numbers would far eclipse any fight in history. Even if people are sick of the soap opera, what fight fan would really choose to not watch it?Posted May 17, 2014 2:40 pm

WHO’S going to say that’s a great fight??? NOBODY!!! Everyone would say Pac-Mike is another easy fight like Pac-Rios, which was a very simple and easy walk-in-the-park payday. Pacquiao-Bradley was a level above that but still easy. I’d like to see Pac in tougher—like with Floyd.
You know, Floyd’s had a lot of super easy fights with Hatton, Guerrero, Ortiz, and Maidana … and for just once why doesn’t he fight a skilled young boxer like Lara or Porter???
You know damned well Floyd is too smart fight slicksters who can crack.

I actually think Mayweather’s drawing power is remarkable. His ability to draw flies to dung is second to none.
I think his recent drop in numbers is most like due to the casual sport’s fan cottoning on to his BS at last. They’ve finally began to realize that he’s only going to keep ducking and avoiding the true challenges out there and continue to pad his records with opponents no one’s worried about.
Don’t forget that the bulk of Mayweather’s numbers comprise of casual fans and haters who are only tuning in to see him lose, whereas most of those who tune into to watch Pacquiao are fans of his and enjoy watching his exciting style. Pacquiao is a foreigner as well. Truth be told, Pacquiao is actually far more popular than Mayweather is in Mayweather’s own home land. And unlike Mayweather, he doesn’t have to resort to cheap gimmicks and transparent marketing ploys to boost his numbers and celebrity.
There’s a reason why Mayweather fights on Mexican national holidays and stacks his undercards with popular Latin fighters. Why do you think he has to rope in the likes of Justin Beiber to increase his own lack of true celebrity too? Pacquioa doesn’t need to resort to desperate measures like that and yet he’s still able to compete with Mayweather on even footing for PPV numbers in Mayweather’s own country.Posted May 17, 2014 7:03 am

You seem to ignore the fact that Bradley went toe to toe with a much bigger and stronger welterweight there but he still won, he would beat maidana easy lets not forget that maidana got pretty much schooled by Alexander.Posted May 17, 2014 5:16 am
@iceman What happened the last time Bradley fought a raging bull? Concussion(Provodnakov)and almost KTFO. Even an old Manny took Bradley deep.(Both fights)Bradley is no Mayweather, and Maidana is fresher than Manny at this point. So yes based on the facts, and recent fights, Maidana cleans Manny’s clock right out. Unless he was playing possum, he looked old in winning the second Bradley fight. He was slow, flat footed, and even looked a bit gassed at times. I give him credit for the win, but nothing else at this stage.Posted May 17, 2014 5:08 am
what a sham. junior said he’d give maidana a rematch. so lets do it. pacquiao doesn’t even seem to care or think for himself. move on people, nothing to see here.Posted May 17, 2014 5:02 am
Auzbox is a complete tool. There is no more to say.Posted May 17, 2014 4:42 am
Very poor article. It doesn’t even give any PPV figures. I might as well have written this off of a cigarette packet. This Valenzuela or whatever his name is has an agenda, but not the skills to come through with it.
You must be a fool if you think maidana would beat pacman, Pac old now but he just beat Bradley who would kick the crap outta maidana, get of the Floyd kool aid maidana is just a decent fighter, that’s it.Posted May 17, 2014 4:35 am
Maidana doesn’t beat PAC. Floyd had to soften his gloves which were legal anyway but that’s floyd. Needs every advantage. PAC beats floyd 5 years ago as he does today. Pussy he is and has always been. Porter goes closer than maidana to beating him!!!Posted May 17, 2014 4:14 am
Floyd show broner how to fight maidana, and what happens, he gets beat up half the fight. floyd is the con of the decade, the con goat. And Floyd fans are his guppies.Posted May 17, 2014 3:40 am
Donkong.., “Shawn porter is a rising star, but no way he beats FMJ or PAC.”
Bullsh!t… You’re full of gas. You didn’t watch Floyd Last fight… or Pacman’s.Posted May 17, 2014 3:29 am
Nope, don’t care about this fight. I rather see Mayweather/Maidana II. I agree with previous posters. Pac wouldn’t beat Alvarez or Maidana, not at this stage of his career. He could beat Guerrero, but who cares about that fight? Lets be straight here, whats in it for Floyd? This is prize fighting after all. Floyd doesn’t need Pac for paydays. That mega payday has come and gone, between them. It would be a fraction of what they could of made and no one really cares anymore if they fight or not.Posted May 17, 2014 3:27 am
Five years ago this would have been the most interesting fight that could be made. Manny was one of the few fighters that would have been on par with Floyd in the stamina department. It would have been a hell of a lot of fun to see how it played out. I would have gladly paid 150 dollar PPV fee to watch that fight. Now I don’t care if they fight or not, it wouldn’t even pay to see it.Posted May 17, 2014 3:13 am
Flour doesn’t make what he says he does. Floydoids say 70 mill he made 32 and that is it for maidana. And for who ever the idiot is that said that maidana is up and coming shows your new to the sport maidana isn’t new he is a veteran fool.Posted May 17, 2014 3:07 am
Shawn porter is a rising star, but no way he beats FMJ or PAC.Posted May 17, 2014 3:03 am
Stop moaning. This is the only fight people want to see. No one cares about Floyd fighting anyone else. No one cares about Manny fighting anyone else. This fight must be made.Posted May 17, 2014 3:01 am
RV says.., “Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have only each other to fight next.”
That statement is a bit obtuse — considering that if Lara beats Canelo badly he’ll be a better candidate to beat Floyd than anyone out there… And considering Shawn Porter’s age and development he would be a fair bet to beat either Floyd or Pacquiao at this point.
The second thing is: Floyd is not fighting Pacquiao… He’s not fighting Lara… He’s not fighting Porter… He’s not fighting Thurman… He’s not fighting Brook.
He’s fighting Khan next… maybe then he’ll fight a rematch with Maidana… and for his final fight—find a reason to fight somebody other than the most logical and dangerous opponent for the umpteenth fight in a row.Posted May 17, 2014 2:23 am
You’re Floyd’s excuse boyPosted May 17, 2014 2:20 am
Mike Tyson Floyd made 300 million since leaving top rank everyone lease Arum Ocsar, Floyd , Cotto and big fights are made. Arum has a history of keeping all his fighters in house look at the history. Floyd will never do business with Arum again plain and simple. He doesnt need Manny. Manny needs him again he can make 100 million fighting a guy like Canelo it was the highest grossing match to date…Posted May 17, 2014 1:11 am
Arum has just replied back to Oscar saying we can go forward with getting back together and make a few fights. Say he agree with Oscar so something might happen . Richard has saif it was he that broke off talk with arum so Oscar has taken that part over. Well we just have to see ,
Floyd is closing out his career and I believe he’s now trying to save Manny for the last fight. I will repeat what I have said about the 2009 negotiation, Mayweather drop all of his demands except RBT. That shows who wanted the fight in one simple move. Now, Manny has talk about fighting Floyd only when Floyd is in a fight contract already. The $40 million in my opinion was a starting point for negotiation, Manny refused to negotiate. I’m not going into the nonsense that either fighter is scared, that’s just stupid talk by fighter fans. Arum doesn’t want this fight I think he was ahead of the game in the whole scheme of things, he knew that for both fighters this show be their farewell fight. I think this has stop the fight from happening. That way both fighters realize their full value.Posted May 17, 2014 12:45 am
Do you fighter fan even know what Maidana did in the Mayweather fight that gave Mayweather so many problem. He made Mayweather reach while come forward do any of you know how. When he got him along the rope he mugged him.
urone2, totally agree, Floyd and PAC fight and both retire, Floyd has 10 cars now 11 . He ruined canelo career. He won only by experiences.Posted May 17, 2014 12:35 am
poor pacturds, arum his manager was offering 50 million each and ppv share. Floyd not a producer he just all mouth and you belive him? His word is gold? Fool….. Look at khan still believing that being in his card and looking good should get him a fight with Floyd as he said. Floyd lies all the timPosted May 17, 2014 12:33 am
You are a true boxer fan in every since of the term. When Love-the-sport retorted with a true boxing fan reply, you simpleton response clearly showed your lack of boxing intellect.
Manny will be retiring soon, so I think it’s safe to say that you will disappear around the same time. I could be wrong Manny might stay around a little longer with the rinse and repeat line of fighter that he fights. Hopefully that will grow old and boxing can move on to the new up and coming fighters such as thurman, porter, Maidana and Brooks. If we are lucky when Manny moves on so will Arum.Posted May 17, 2014 12:28 am
Manny got KTFO by a flat footed 40 year old Marquez in the rematch the same thing will happen he can forget about Floyd. Bradley simply didnt have what it takes he punched himself out of energy. Marquez will school him again he is a counter puncher. And Manny eats counters.Posted May 17, 2014 12:11 am
Azzbox since when is 40 million dollars a insult to anyone? You moron Manny will never make 40 million dollars for one fight with anyone else. You have his cock in your mouth, Manny makes 30 million for a fight with Bradley and the IRS took the whole thing. I guess 40 million is chump change for Manny thats why his phone lines are open 24/7 and hoping Floyd calls i bet he is kicking himself in the ass right now for not taking it in 09. IRS is on his assPosted May 17, 2014 12:07 am
Poor floyd one of a c-slugger/boxer is worth a rematch why not many say it as 6 round even. We can only wounder what would happen if Floyd would face a porter who smash alexlander who beat maidana in a UD. Or a Bradley who use his slugger ability to also run over Alexander.even khan beat maidana in a UD. And PAC even out slugg even Bradley.
The mayweather can pump Floyd all they want but most smart people can see it would be a fight worth seeing. If this rematch ever happen maidana still has his body punch he never used.
Yeh 1.5 is great numbers but it has been leaked that it has done just under 1 mill with a loaded card. Manny got 800 on his own with no undercardPosted May 16, 2014 11:33 pm
Yeh manny walked away from 40, why because he was the 1 p4p guy in the world and it was an insult. You can say manny looked crap but he beat 3p4p where floyd beat a guy that won his title against a lightweight hype job. And floyd never even cleared 50 so don’t know where you get 70 from. Floyd lies as was written in a good article. Floyd will be lucky to clear 40 and he paid maidana less than 2 mill. Floyd should retire cause maidana isn’t even top 5 at welterPosted May 16, 2014 11:31 pm
The Floyd Maidana numbers haven’t even come in yet. And of course nobody expected Maidana to do 2.2 million buys. But if it does 1.4 or 1.5 that’s great. Pac couldn’t crack a million with Bradley and he won’t touch a million again till he fights Floyd. Alvarado/Pac will not sale…..Bradley 3,4,5,6,7 or Marquez 6,7,8,9, or 10 will sale. If Floyd rematches Maidana it will do over a million buys easy. Golden Boy will stack the card.Posted May 16, 2014 11:29 pm
This fights lacks all the luster it once had too many egos got involved. Poor Pactards who think Floyd somehow was afraid of Manny thats why it couldn’t happen. Arum is the one to derailed it now the stigma of a big fight that simply inst anymore Floyd makes 70+ million fighting a guy like Marcos so the benefit is solely on Manny. Arum told him to walk away over 40 million dollars and a blood test wehn you have guys by the drones waiting for a chance like that, a one and a million shot at Floyd is Manny somehow speacial can he dictat the terms of a blood test? Floyd makes the rules to his fights Manny walked away so now what does he have just his loyal nutt huggers calling for this fight Bradely II not only sold poor but they both looked like crap. Vegas sells out every-time Floyd fights now Manny has Marquez 5 in which no one will pay to watch Arum does anything to discredit Floyd in the media he never wanted the fight and never will its time everyone moves on.Posted May 16, 2014 11:13 pm
Maidana was a belt holder, champ and pushed Mayweather back all night long.
WTF are you talking about author?
We don’t care about PPV numbers, we want action and we wanna see champs fighting champs!

PAC vs Mayweather, who cares, they don’t get my money!! Very overrated!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted May 16, 2014 9:28 pm
Are the mayweather maidana numbers in yet? Loaded card should be a few. PAC got 800 all on his own.Posted May 16, 2014 9:18 pm
No surprise that Pac/Bradley 2 figures were down. I watched the 1st fight with a load of casual fans and they were all so miffed with the robbery they never came back to watch boxing anymore. Just read an article in Boxing Monthly on Zou Shimming. 2 million fans in the US watch Mayweather fight and Shimming gets 920 million watching him in China. No wonder Arum is trying to do PPV over there.Posted May 16, 2014 9:16 pm
No one before broner would have said he deserved a shot at mayweather. He beat a lightweight to earn a shot. I’m glad he fought floyd now cause it just shows floyd ain’t as great as he thinks he is. He struggled and maidana didn’t even look like he played tennis let alone fought the so called p4p king hahaPosted May 16, 2014 9:12 pm
Who didn’t know Maidana? Anyone who’s a boxing fan has watched him for years before he sparked Broner.Posted May 16, 2014 9:09 pm
You didn’t even know maidanas name till he beat a blown up lightweight hype job broner. WoweePosted May 16, 2014 8:50 pm
Hatton PAC beat better. Moseley PAC beat better, cotto was destroyed in his prime mayweather struggled. Dela Hoya PAC killed mayweather struggledPosted May 16, 2014 8:47 pm
Maidana a guy that was beaten by khan, Alvarez a green kid that beat cab drivers and trout. WOWEEEE. Once again mayweather is heaps bigger than PAC but has never wanted to fight him. What is it this week that PAC wears blue shoes so the fight can’t go ahead hahaPosted May 16, 2014 8:46 pm
Auzbox … You are right. Floyd Mayweather is gutless.
That is why Floyd Mayweather fought Alvarez — because he is a coward.
That is why Floyd Mayweather fought Maidana — because he is a coward.
Really … you can’t be much more stupid about boxing.Posted May 16, 2014 8:41 pm
Auzbox … do you read about boxing or do you actually watch boxing fights?
Pacquiao vs. Bradley I was a close fight. Judges may have gotten it wrong — but it is not like Pacquiao won 11 out of 12 rounds.
Pacquiao vs. Bradley II was a good fight with Bradley going for a knockout and power and 2-3 times knocking Pacquiao up in the air.
These are good fights. Bradley has been tested in tough fights with Provodnikov, Marquez, and Pacquiao.
In any other era, Bradley vs. Mayweather would be considered a solid fight. The problem is that Bradley does not have an ethnic following — so the numbers would be weak — and Bradley is working with Bob Arum.
But anybody who knows anything about boxing, boxing strategy, boxing styles, boxing history — anybody who knows this stuff would say that Bradley vs. Mayweather is an interesting fight.
As for Guerrero — Pacquiao vs. Guerrero would be a great fight. Again Auzbox you don’t know much about boxing.
Guerrero is a lefty. Guerrero is a solid body puncher. Guerrero has long arms. Mayweather beats Guerrero easily. Why? Because Mayweather fights going backwards as much as forward. Pacquiao only goes forward. This will give Guerrero opportunities. Pacquiao doesn’t like body punches. Pacquiao doesn’t like guys with long arms. And Pacquiao has not fought a lefty since David Diaz like 7 years ago. It would be a good fight. And I doubt that Pacquiao would walk away smiling.Posted May 16, 2014 8:40 pm
And as for an Alvarez fight, your an idiot, PAC is a natural 135 140 pound guy that fights heavier than his natural weight at 147. Alvarez can’t even make 154 anymore he made his next fight 155. PAC has gone through 8 divisions yet floydie only 5. No balls. He struggled against chino and he would against manny. Also PAC destroyed cotto long before mayweather struggled to!Posted May 16, 2014 8:37 pm
Why would mayweather fight Bradley when PAC just beat him easy actually on two occasions and as for PAC fighting guerro. Why the hell he is a bum, mayweather should never have fought him but he likes easy winsPosted May 16, 2014 8:33 pm
If Martinez beats Cotto decisively — then YES, Mayweather vs. Martinez is a great fight.
But I also like the idea of Mayweather vs. Bradley.
The problem is politics and Bob Arum.Posted May 16, 2014 8:27 pm
Politics in boxing are stupid.
I don’t understand why Pacquiao deserves to fight Mayweather until after Pacquiao fights and beats:
– Robert Guerrero
Pacquiao has barely beaten Marquez over 4 fights — while Mayweather beat Marquez easily.
I don’t actually think Pacquiao would beat Guerrero, Alvarez, or Maidana — so why should Pacquiao fight Mayweather.
On the other hand, Mayweather vs. Bradley would be an interesting fight. But other than Bradley, Pacquiao has not fought a common elite opponent in 5 years. Pacquiao did great against Cotto, Hatton, Mosely, and De LaHoya — these are all fighters that Floyd fought with only the Hatton fight coming easily and even that fight was close until the final 3-4 rounds.
But this was 5-6 years ago. Since then Pacquiao has fought Marquez, Bradley, and Rios. Nobody else.
Let’s see what happens when Pacquiao fights Guerrero.
Let’s see what happens when Pacquiao fights Alvarez.
Let’s see what happens when Pacquiao fights Maidana.
You Pacquiao apologists know what will happen … Pacquiao ends up on the floor like the Marquez fight.Posted May 16, 2014 8:25 pm
Mayweather vs Sergio is the best match.
Maybe Pacman vs Khan since both have bout the same record past 4 or 5 fights.Posted May 16, 2014 8:20 pm
They might as well try negotiating AGAIN..who else could they both fight at this time that would intrigue us?? Lara(maybe Floyd not Paquiao), Canelo(again realistic for Floyd not Paquiao), Thurman would get schooled by both but would still be a match) and Khan(still hasn’t fought anyone notable).Posted May 16, 2014 7:49 pm
It’s like Charlie Brown and the Red-Haired girl.
Or Ahab and the White Whale.
A useless obsession over something that is not meant to be.
The WBC can force Stiverne to fight Wilder, but no one can make Floyd fight Manny.
The end.Posted May 16, 2014 7:34 pm
PAC wants to fight Marquez againPosted May 16, 2014 7:19 pm
