Marquez retires MannyPosted May 19, 2014 4:14 pm
Huntley…, “Alvarado dropping Juan in the ninth and hurting him in the 11th.”
Marquez was off balance when he was knocked down… and he wasn’t hurt in the 11th… Alvarado suffered more punishment in the round he knocked JMM down in than he dished out, but I”ll give him that one round out of 12… Everybody knew he was going to be badly out-boxed.
JMM’s domination was very similar to Pac-Rios… which explains why the series between Pac and JMM has been so tight… However, if they fight a fifth time Pacquiao will out-speed Marquez … Marquez is a very strong, powerful puncher right now… but you can’t hit what you can’t see.
Pacquiao is cutting back on strength training in favor of defense, speed, finesse, and volume in his last 2 fights… He’s not KOing welterweights anyway … so what’s the point trying to overpower people.Posted May 18, 2014 10:17 pm
Juan Manuel Marquez other know as “Ped Man” looked awful last night. He gets hit with everything. He leads with his head, and his feet are awful. And please Ped Man fans don’t try and say that this win was something special because it wasn’t. We all knew Mike Alvarado was made to order for Marquez. Mike Alvarado is a super nice young man, but he is also a fighter that has never had any defense, has slow hands and feet, has been taking lots of punishment in his last 3 fights versus Rios and Provodnikov. A human body can only take so much punishment before it begins to wither away. I hope you guys can notice Alvarado’s slow speech. He is a tough fighter tha really needs to retire, and last night proved it. Even so, Ped Man Marquez was dropped once and on the way to another before the bell rang. Ped Man Marquez had his moments only because Alvarado is as slow as molasses. Please don’t try and paint a picture like the HBO guys did. This fight was more about Alvarado’s decline than anything Marquez did and that’s the truth. The most humiliating and embarrassing moment last night was Marquez avoiding at all costs the commitment to fight Manny Pacquiao a 5th time. He simply doesn’t want it. The man wants to cradle the tarnished victory over Manny instead of doing the right thing any real fighter would do which is to grant Manny Pacquiao a rematch. Fear echoed throughout the tv sets as Marquez wanted nothing to do with giving Manny another fight. This is a man that knows he couldn’t beat the legendary Manny Pacquiao again because Freddie has already said he would have testing 24 hrs a day around the clock. Marquez and Hereida are fully aware that this time around they will be monitored every step of the way, and they will not take a chance. A true sign of a coward just as Floyd Mayweather has also shown. Ped Man Marquez may have won the fight last night, but his interview lost him the war. Let’s see Marquez fight Provodnikov. Oh yeah, he declined to fight him several times. Manny Pacquiao ran from no one. He gave Ped Man Marquez 4 fights. Ped Man Marquez is tarnished forever. He told the world last night that he wants to live on his last victory over Manny Pacquiao and would rather not give Manny Pacquiao another fight. Ped Man Marquez needs to retire for good now. He has given into the nightmares and fear of facing the greatest fighter of all time, Manny Pacquiao ever again.Posted May 18, 2014 7:39 pm
It wasn’t magnificent but it was a little bit of La guerre. The view was truly “another”.Posted May 18, 2014 1:31 pm
Martin “El Bruchador” Honorio
The author had predicted it right… and the title and the article is spot on….Posted May 18, 2014 11:22 am
@D: I predicted the fight would be somewhat competitive early, and then become one sided from the middle rounds on. It actually unfolded in the opposite way. Alvarado had more success in the last third of the fight, dropping Juan in the ninth and hurting him in the 11th. But up until then, he’d been getting his head handed to him, pretty much from the start. And, Marquez, of course, still was able to unload on Mike, and land at will.
I think I managed to predict the type of fight it would be. It was exciting, but ultimately one-sided. But yeah, the fight itself was a bit different from the one I envisioned.
Either way, this was fun to do. Thanks again for the feedback. Hope to do it again, soon.Posted May 18, 2014 9:00 am

Hecdog is truth !Posted May 18, 2014 3:30 am
as you can see huntley, the fight didn’t go as you predicted. avarado wasn’t ahead early, jmm completely dominated early. it wasn’t competitive and if avarado took any more chances he would have been knocked out. it was almost the same type of affair as pacquiao-rios, except that avarado one a round by scoring a knockdown.
there is no solution for a boxer who’s defense sucks when he’s fighting an atg. none. rios at least had the good sense not to compound the problem by flinging desperation shots. that only ensures you will take an even worse beating than you should.
rios to kellerman: “do you still think i’m a punching bag?
kellerman took about 9 seconds to collect his thoughts before saying no.Posted May 18, 2014 1:23 am

@Aye: Challenge accepted-though in truth, this is far less wordy and pretentious than pieces that I done in the past. For that, we can all be thankful. :D
In any event, I`ll try to tone it down a bit more going forward. Appreciate the feedback.Posted May 17, 2014 7:09 pm
Slightly overwritten article methinks. I don’t think there are going to be many comments for that fact alone. Good effort but slightly less pompous next time :)Posted May 17, 2014 6:30 pm
@D: Fair enough. The only reason why I put the words “another view” is that I personally don’t believe that Marquez will struggle as much against Alvarado as much as others on this site seem to believe. And I don’t necessarily view this as being the FOTY candidate that some observers have predicted it will be. I might well be wrong, though. We’ll find out tonight. Enjoy the fight and thanks for the feedback!Posted May 17, 2014 5:24 pm
a ok analysis but not another view. it’s the same scenario everyone expects. if you want to express another view tell us how alvarado winsPosted May 17, 2014 3:50 pm
Has Marquez ever been in an easy fight? He seems to fight to the level of his opposition. There’s no blood testing for this fight, so one would believe Marquez would be juiced. So expect a KO. Without the juice, would have been a close fight.Posted May 17, 2014 3:05 pm
Marquez has lost alot of muscle.Posted May 17, 2014 2:19 pm

Juan Manuel Marquez otherwise know as Ped Man Marquez has been crying, begging and whining for attention. His last fight against Timothy Bradley showed fight fans that without the Angel Hereida special mix, he is nothing more than an average old fighter in the twilight of his career. A one time good fighter transformed himself into a muscle bound gorilla when he faced the legendary Manny Pacquiao. In three previous fights against Manny Pacquiao, Marquez had been dropped over and over, out boxed and out fought. Manny Pacquiao was the thorn in Marquez’s side. Desperation finally set in as Marquez went to such extreme measures as to drink his own urine and then to find the man that was well know for providing PEDS to the United States Olympic Track and Field team. The infamous Angel Hereida had been fooling the drug testing system for years, as he acknowledged on tape that he could mask anything. Juan Manuel Marquez knew full well all about this man yet he lied to the media when asked if he had known anything about Hereida as he told the media that he had not known about Angel Hereida. He then changed his story a few days later because the media had found out that Marquez had know Hereida for a long time. This is a classic sign of a liar. A man not to be trusted, and a man that tarnished his image and reputation for good. Juan Manuel Marquez has proven time and time again that he cannot accept defeat. His constant I was robbed after each loss has grown tiresome. He constantly blames everyone including Las Vegas for his losses. Juan Manuel “Ped Man Marquez” is a true poor sport and sore loser. His fight on Saturday was specifically selected because Mike Alvarado has been taking punishment and is breaking down piece by piece in every fight. Provodnikov finally broke his spirit and Marquez jumped at the chance to beat down Alvarado one more time. He chose a wounded duck yet ran away from Provodnikov even after he was called out by him quite a few times. Marquez found out that he could not draw very well anywhere. Marquez is a small name compared to the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao put Marquez on the map. Marquez should have bowed down and thanked Manny Pacquiao for making him relevant. Timothy Bradley showed us just how normal of a fighter Marquez is. Manny Pacquiao then beat up Bradley as he showed us his ability to be a boxer and a fighter. Now after all the talking Marquez has been doing about not ever fighting Manny Pacquiao ever again because as he says “I like this feeling”, Marquez has started to go back on his word as he always does. What’s even more upsetting is that no testing will be done for this fight against Alvarado. What does this mean? Well it means that Angel Hereida can put together any nutritional mix he wants. You see, this is a make it or break fight for Marquez and he cannot afford to lose. A 5th fight against Manny Pacquiao awaits him so I assume Marquez wanted to cover all his bases to get whatever edge he can gain to win at ALL costs. Marquez will go down in boxing history as the fighter that hired a well know PED supplier to the United States Track and Field team. All of his victories will come into question. If there is any justice in boxing, Mike Alvardo, a well respected warrior will find a way to win this fight even though the odds are against him especially with the no testing dilemma. I’m pulling for him to put Ped Man Marquez away for good. The reincarnation of the Los Angeles forum will be a beautiful thing to see. The reincarnation of Ped Man Marquez with the help of Angel Hereida will be a sad day for boxing.Posted May 16, 2014 10:16 pm
