Sorry…, I don’t see a lot of skill in Maidana.. He still gets hit a lot compared to guys like Porter… Thurman… Brook… and Pacquiao.
No way in the world he beats these guys… They’re first rate.Posted May 27, 2014 2:35 am
PEEJ.., “If Brook has the balls to face Porter.”
I don’t know. It takes a lot of balls to face Porter. Brook seems to have a couple … Floyd seems to lack them.
Floyd will definitely opt for weak fish like Khan and Maidana… rather than face genuine threats like Lara, Porter, Thurman, or Pacquiao in his last 3 fights. Floyd will definitely NOT fight anyone who’s any kind of a threat to beat him.
And you can’t go back a lot of fights when talking about some of these guys… Lara, Porter, Thurman, and Brook are developing so extremely rapidly… that you can only go back to their last fight … They’re so far ahead of their pervious fights.Posted May 23, 2014 3:30 pm
Brooks is to scared to step up. He had many times to fight bigger names and opted not to. As for who Floyd has fought, who is 2nd tier? Maidana is a damn good fighter. He was on a winning streak and had a title. Brooks just got his title and has a mandatory. So he has to face Brooks if Brooks has the balls to face Porter. I am still doubtful about that. You have to make your name and get some good wins to get the fight against Floyd. Plain and simple. Not to mention Floyd is the champ, the only person that called Floyd out was Thurman. I don’t think he is ready for Floyd yet. I think he will be early next year.Posted May 23, 2014 1:52 am
Porter and Thurman are hot up and comers. Porter’s beaten the better comp while Thurman’s still whacking out punching bags. Both should be put on the fast track, the development stage is done.Posted May 22, 2014 1:53 pm
Haha you think Mayweather should fight Brook? Maidana and Khan have had longer careers which obviously means the likelihood of picking up a loss is greater. Porter’s best win is against Paulie Malignaggi how does that merit a shot with Mayweather? Brook, Thurman and Porter look to me to all be good fighters but there’s a huge leap between who they’ve been fighting and Mayweather. As soon as Mayweather was to fight one of them his critics would say he was picking fights with guys too green to be in the ring with him, no matter who he fights there will always be criticism.Posted May 22, 2014 5:13 am
To say all the best fighters have to knock each other off instead of fighting Floyd is total BS … so Floyd gets to fight a bunch of losers instead of the best welterweights???
Who has beaten Porter, Brook, or Thurman? NOBODY.
Who has beaten Maidana and Khan, the guys Floyd wants to fight??? Plenty of people beat those 2nd rate boxers… Some who are not real good beat them.Posted May 22, 2014 2:14 am
Porter is not gonna get the opportunity now. He has a mandatory. Yeah he beat Paulie and he beat Devon who hasn’t really looked good in a couple of fights now. Who has Porter actually beaten to deserve a fight with Floyd or to say he would beat Floyd. He just had a draw a few fights ago against Diaz. Then in the rematch, yeah he beat him but still didn’t look great. Thurman dispatched Diaz with ease. Lets see Porter and Thurman fight and the winner can get Floyd. Saying Floyd won’t fight him is just ludicrous. You have no clue if he will or won’t. Considering they are both with Haymon, I would say there is a very good chance the fight will come off.Posted May 22, 2014 12:23 am
Porter is proven all the way… He beat the crap out of Devon Alexander who easily outboxed Marcos Maidana. Porter is getting much better with every fight.
Porter smashed Malignaggi worse than anyone else… Broner could barely win a comfortable decision over Paulie.
Porter is a big threat to beat Floyd’s ass… But he won’t get the opportunityPosted May 21, 2014 11:45 pm
Porter is still green Paulie was nothing beating him proves what. I want to see Porter fight the bog Thurman or Kahn then Floyd. Right now he is not proven…Posted May 21, 2014 10:25 pm
Tark is a tool. Kovalev hasnt beaten any top fighter. Cedric Agnew or Nathan Cleverly? gtfohPosted May 21, 2014 6:03 pm
Tark, Kovalev has done nothing to suggest he could’ve beaten Calzaghe to compare Calzaghe to Cleverly is an insult, Cleverly fights nothing like him and is nowhere near Calzaghe’s level. Calzaghe would’ve clearly beat any of the light heavies out there including Kovalev.Posted May 21, 2014 5:07 pm
Gary Russell Jr vs Lomachenko is the most interesting fight coming up among these guys. Big step up for him, and a make or break fight for Lomachenko who is risking going 1-2 as a pro. Hard to believe considering some called him the best prospect in a decade. Meantime, does anyone remember when Russell Jr was on par with Broner as up and comers? High stakes for both these guys.Posted May 21, 2014 1:54 pm
I have only one criticism of Shawn Porter and that is that I’m NOT a fan of any fighter being trained by his father, it actually hinders the overall development of the fighter… I like the best fighters to be be trained by the best trainers Roach, Robert Garcia, etc. Porter is a one dimensional fighter, which is good to some degree, but will also work against him in the long run. Danny Garcia trained by his dad and Danny put on a good ass whupping exhibition against Khan, but in his last fight he seemed to struggle, Peter Manfredo was a good fighter, again just a good fighter, had NO power, seems like a GREAT guy but due to the inexperience of his father/trainer, never really went anywhere. Porter has done Extremely well but with a top notch trainer he can do even better Lastly, I know people will ask,” What about Mayweather , well, for most of his career, he was trained by his uncle, NOT his dad… Just my thoughts… Boxingdictionary.com “The Language of the Ring “Posted May 21, 2014 8:29 am
nobody beats floyd nobodyPosted May 21, 2014 7:32 am
Until Kovalev fights some more top fighters, saying he beats Calzaghe is ridiculous at this point. He is unproven.Posted May 21, 2014 12:10 am
Jeff Lacy versus Adonis Stevenson??? That’s ridiculously easy for Stevenson … Lacy was so easy to hit.
Jeff was like Tyson. If he couldn’t eat your punches he was done.Posted May 20, 2014 11:30 pm
Stevenson would be a dangerous opponent for Calzaghe… The reason is, Joe was easy to hit and that powerful straight left might get him… JC never fought anyone like Adonis so I see it as 50/50… Adonis gets hit and hurt too.
Kovalev kills they both…
Sergei smashes them both out like he did Cleverly, who fights like Calzaghe — and southpaw Cedric Agnew who was 26-0 and he KO’d with a jab to the short ribs… Kovalev is a great fighter… Stevenson does not want to fight him … he’d get murdered.Posted May 20, 2014 11:25 pm
Porter has a mandatory against Brooks. Asking anything about Floyd isn’t really relevant until he gets his mandatory out of the way. Not to mention he just became a viable option for Floyd after winning that title.Posted May 20, 2014 10:59 pm
Stevenson is no Jeff Lacy but your right Calzaghe would probably take him to school.Posted May 20, 2014 10:46 pm
Stevenson is not that good, he get beat, Byron Mitchell would of beat him, back in the day, don’t hype Stevenson, he is a good fighter, but, don’t compare him to Julian Jackson. Calzaghe would school him like he did Jeff Lacy.Posted May 20, 2014 9:55 pm
Porter v Brook, in the UK at a big stadium.Posted May 20, 2014 9:18 pm
Porter LOLPosted May 20, 2014 9:18 pm
Who is hosting tonight?Posted May 20, 2014 9:07 pm
Be sure to ask Porter about a possible Floyd Mayweather fight… after all he’s a world champion in the same division Floyd is in… and how it feels when Floyd fights guys like Maidana, Guerrero, Ortiz, and now it looks like Khan… who Porter could easily beat.
BTW, I think Kell Brook, who Porter fights next, would also give Floyd more trouble than anyone he’s faced so far. He’s never faced a prime boxer the caliber of these 2 guys.Posted May 20, 2014 9:06 pm
Porter UD or TKO over BrookPosted May 20, 2014 9:02 pm
Oh boy Joseph…..my girl is so heart broken that Porter destroyed Paulie…..

I like this guy’s heart and the fact that as a champ he wants to be active and fight all top contenders and other champions. If he continues to win , he’ll have others forced to fight him and in the process, make a lot of money. There are mega fights fights out there for him now, Marquez, Pacquio, Broner, Khan and all top contenders in that weight class, Now, let’s see who steps up and accepts his challenge… With Brooks he (Porter) will have a tough fight on his hands…Boxingdictionary.com “The Language of the Ring” “Posted May 20, 2014 7:45 pm
