brandon gonzales going to give james degeale all he can handle today maybe even cause a upset gonzalez is strong very good inside fighter as well as on the outside he very smart he fight kinda similar to andre ward he got a good trainer in virgil hunter and he knows how to fight southpaws james be kinda wide with his punches somtimes his balance dont be to good but james got good speed good body puncher for a tall fighter he got good angles and gonzales do seem to fade late in fights alot somtimes so his stamina is suspect so im sure james might be agressive and trying to go to the body but gonzales is more technical with his punches and caculated i see this being close i see gonzales winning by udPosted May 31, 2014 2:13 pm
i got groves over froch i think groves got froch figure out now he wanted this rematch badley while froch didn seem to want the rematch at first groves seem like the more confident fighter more sure of himself but u cant never count out froch tho when he been written off he always come back and put on impressive performances like he did against bute and arthur abraham maybe in the first fight he took groves lighty froch defense got to get better tho he was getting hit to much he got to move his head more be more elusive in past he has the first fight he seem stiff and tight groves just seem faster he threw the better punches only concern for groves is the late rounds i think froch will come better prepared and carl had a bad start the first fight maybe froch seen better days we see but groves is younger and fresher and faster i see groves getting it right this time and winning by ud or late round ko but wont shocked me if froch wins thoPosted May 31, 2014 12:37 pm

Yes I know what you mean tinker bell, I don’t think it will be as bad as the hatton mayweather fight, yeah cheers ooh’s and ahh’s are enough. Maybe there will be some singing in the ring walks etc but not all the way through the fight. Yeah I’m not hating on froch coz he has been great for British boxing and he served up some great fights but it’s true the point you make about new blood and I think the same, froch is nearer the end now GG is the future in that weight for Britain. I just hope we get a cracking fight and both guys say the right thing after and respect each other. Are you guys getting the undercard too? Looks pretty decent, some tasty fights. Enjoy!Posted May 31, 2014 4:28 am
Got a feeling Groves wins this one. Froch is 36 but nobody talks about his age and the tough fights he’s been in. Also Groves is slick and smart enough to outbox him again. He just can’t get caught this time.Posted May 31, 2014 4:10 am
HH > I’m not impressed with Groves. Golovkin would murder Groves. He would give up several pounds but Groves is very easy to punch in the head and body. Groves wouldn’t find Gennady, who made Mackin look like a fool flinging shots while getting touched all the time. Macklin fought a competitive fight with Martinez for a lot of rounds, but couldn’t lay an effective glove on GGG.Posted May 31, 2014 2:26 am

Is like to see groves win, because I like to see the new gen come thru, in all weight classes. Nothing against Froch: he has been a stoic warrior gotten the best out of himself. He’s gone as far as he can. I’m now looking for done new blood.Posted May 30, 2014 11:13 pm
Do you know how big Groves would be on the night against Golovkin?
8lbs even for someone like Golovkin is a big ask against Groves who’s really a 175lb man and especially at his age.Posted May 30, 2014 10:40 pm

Yeah groves should definitely pace himself better and box instead of brawling but I disagree about who looked worse after the fight. Yeah groves had a couple of black eyes but he marks up easier coz of his skin tone but froch eyes nose and jaw were a right mess and who seemed more concussed in their post fight interviews , I know who was feeling more worse for wear after that first fight and it wasn’t GG. Froch is a hard man no doubt with a solid chin and big heart but groves has genuine one punch power, speed and timing, also he can hurt froch that’s fact. Does that mean this time he can ko froch? We have to wait and see but I believe so.Posted May 30, 2014 8:51 pm
yet with all that. with groves flinging and landing. he ends up eating tons of shots and starts getting rubbed out in the ninth. 3 and a half rounds to go and he looked like he’d been through hell and back and was beginning to get blasted out. froch didn’t look the worst for wear as groves didPosted May 30, 2014 8:36 pm

Tinker bell agreed about the singing, I personally would rather be watching the action then singing as you don’t want to miss anything but if every person there was sitting in silence it would be a pretty dull atmosphere. Id say most people there watching will be either drunk or football fans as well as boxing fans. Lets not forget froch himself is a big Nottingham Forest fan. British fans are more rowdy by nature it’s just the culture here. I’m not a fan of it myself but that’s how it is, drinking, sports events. Getting loud and shouty. D don’t worry I’m not wasting my money as I’m confident groves will deliver. If groves “stinks” so much why did he nearly ko froch in round 1 and rock him many times after that? I’ve followed froch many years as I’ve said before and I’ve never seen froch hurt the way he was against groves, he took a battering! So groves can’t be that bad as froch is a 4 time world champion and took on all the top fighters , yet groves as bad as he is according to you kd in the first and rocked him consistently ?! Yeah ok. Talking stops soon and we’ll all know for sure. Hope you all enjoy the fight. I can’t wait!Posted May 30, 2014 8:18 pm
How brutal could this be on Froch? Groves caught him very early when Froch walked into a perfect punch. You can’t ask for a better opportunity to put somebody away if they’re that wide open right?
Froch kept walking in. Groves kept hitting him and getting hit with return fire. What’s going to change in the rematch? Froch didn’t look badly beaten up. Groves looked like he was mugged in the parking lot.
There was still 10 and a half minutes to go when Froch started smashing Groves’ mug in. He was on George like Fatty Arbuckle on a pork chop.Posted May 30, 2014 8:14 pm

If the fight was at 175 I would put good money on Froch . I feel that he has been cutting weight and fighting at 168 for too long now . It’s similar to how Hopkins got a new lease of life once he left 160 .
If Groves fights smart I think he can out point Froch .
Looking forward to the fight , hard to beat a good UK fight for atmosphere.Posted May 30, 2014 5:52 pm

I’m sorry. Singing doesn’t belong at boxing. It doesn’t fit or work. It is something to do at soccer where there are long periods of lull. Or at Xmas time. Or around a piano when the TV is on the blink. But not at boxing. How can you watch closely and sing?

Lol what you want a medal for being the worlds best boxing fan or something dmx?! Coz you followed a few boxers from their debut and if a fan doesn’t do that according to you he is a fair weather fan. You don’t have to be a complete fan boy to support a boxer lol but at the same time I do understand the point about people jumping on the bandwagons etc and some people are just there being drunk idiots and yeah the crowds sing but you find me a better atmosphere at a boxing event outside the UK. I think it is a close fight on sat and with boxing anything can happen but I still think carl gonna take a bit of a battering and get stopped. If I’m wrong ill be back here to read your gloating messages lol. As long as both fighters are healthy at the end of it all that’s the main thing.Posted May 30, 2014 1:49 pm

Yes rich I did put my money on groves first time and that idiot Howard foster stopped the fight early. As for you dmx no one is jumping on bandwagons here. I’m a British fight fan , I’ve followed froch for many years and enjoyed plenty of his fights, always in exciting fights and I’ve got a lot of respect for him as a fighter. I’ve also followed groves career and I’ve seen both fight live so no “two bob sports fans” here either. I backed groves before the first fight when everyone wrote him off but I knew he would give carl big problems and he did. I’m backing him this time as well, I think he’s a better boxer and his style gives froch problems, also froch has had a lot of wars and nobody really knows how much that last fight damaged his punch resistance. I’m entitled to my opinion. So again no swapping sides. People are allowed to follow more then one boxer jeez. You’re a very judgmental person aren’t you lol. As for football, I follow it as I like the game but I don’t support any club team. I will support the national team of course. So once again sorry no glory hunters here or beer swigging yob lol Anyway I’ll be back here on Sunday morning when George groves is the new super middleweight world champion ;)Posted May 30, 2014 12:15 pm

DMX, I’m totally in a agreement with you. A lot of these Johnnies are football fans and it is considered a sin to switch football allegiances, but boxing is a sport so full of hypocrisy that it seems anything goes and just like Bob and Don people want to come in with the champion and walk out with the champion.
I am and always have been a fan of Carl and always will be, win or lose. I have never followed a boxer just because he’s unbeaten and certainly won’t ditch him if he loses.
Carl looks on the money at the weigh in, so there will be no excuses if Groves wins, I still won’t like him, I still don’t like JDG, but that will be the next big domestic showdown around Bonfire Night!Posted May 30, 2014 11:28 am
Cannot believe the “Johnny come lately” British fight fans who just switch or suddenly start supporting a fighter after one fight
It took me years of watching fight after fight of favourite fighters of mine, right from early days through to domestic and finally / hopefully a World title shot
No way do I change sides, no way do I jump on a band waggon

I expect a good fight between 2 highly motivated fighters. And this time I feel a KO on its way. Either Groves if it happens before round 6, or Froch latter. Good action to come.
Froch didn’t give Groves the rematch, Groves had to force his hand. So it is understandable Groves isn’t going to just give Froch a rematch. Froch said he would retire if beat, then, in the same breathe says Groves wont give him the rematch. Clutching at straws. Froch can’t beat Groves with a neutral ref. Froch will lose rounds from fouls alone in this fight. Expect at least a few 10-8 rounds due to fouling, i.e desperation.Posted May 29, 2014 7:48 am

I hope Groves win, so that we can have Ward versus someone else instead of another re-run should Froch win. Plus we need new blood in the sport of boxing. If Groves win we then can even have Groves vs GGG. Since we all know GGG has no comp at 160lbs plus he will never face Ward at 168lbs. He knows his limits.Posted May 29, 2014 5:24 am

I see Sky have upped the price a couple of £ for this, In fairness to Groves I think this will be his 3rd ppv fight in 20 pro fights, Degale, Froch 1 and this, that’s pretty good going. I think he’ll try to stop Froch early before he starts to bust up, Froch just needs to keep a bit cooler and stalk him behind a better defence, close the distance and strike with heavy handed combo’s on the inside where Grove’s cant fight to his skillset, rough him up son, rough him up.Posted May 29, 2014 3:59 am

I loved watching the Mike McCallum-Herol Graham fight in England. Graham ran, held, wrestled, threw McCallum down, hit on the break. He even reached around the referee to hit McCallum on the break a couple times.
The English referee finally got disgusted enough to take a point from Graham after 30 warnings. McCallum won easily, but he was biting his lip and looking down before the decision was announced. You never never know in Boxing. You just pray something outrageous won’t happen.Posted May 29, 2014 2:07 am

WHEN FROCH has retired and the new breed are here… Perhaps 10 years from now, we will all sit down and read a thread on ESB that will say FROCH WAS A BEAST…
We won’t appreciate him until long after he’s retired and people will say, they don’t make them as tough as Carl anymore, nor as brave!
Carl would have been at home with all those tough fighters in the 30s, 40s and 50s who seemed to be impervious to punishment and just kept coming!
Boxing has never been a sprint…It’s always about getting yo that destination, no matter even if you’re down 9 rounds to 1… If you can finish like an express train you can overhaul almost any lead if you can close the show.
It is going to be brutal!Posted May 28, 2014 2:15 pm
KOrnerman….Absolutely correct… I was just detailing his memorable world title fights, that were all memorable… People forget he had to travel by car for the best part of 18 hours for the first Kessler fight, which was on-off and then on again, because of the Icelandic Volcanic Ash cloud debacle that grounded most planes for over a week. The worst preparation going into the lions den in Denmark, just a couple days before the fight.
Kessler vs FROCH I was my Fight Of The Year (not Khan vs Maidana)… It was pure caveman stuff… The only other fight (I think it was same year?) to rival it for Caveman/Rocky action was HUCK vs Afolabi II, especially the last round!!! Unbekievable stuff!
FROCH has literally come back from being out on (totally gone) on a few occasions! I think he has Polish blood in him and those Poles are as tough as they come!Posted May 28, 2014 2:09 pm

I would love FROCH to win and then bow out in Vegas… I’d make the trip out there again to see his swan song. I used to be a big fan of St George, but realised his arrogance and pathetic attempts at trying to appear clever are like his IQ – non existent!

Froch should be able to make some adjustments and not get hurt so early. He also started landing heavy bombs early last time out.
Froch has seen a ton of action and he has always had a very pleasing style. I hope he does some tricks, tactics, and techniques he can employ on certain moves of groves or on groves style.
I’m rooting Froch in this one for sure!! Not interested in seeing froch in with ward again. if anything groves can fight ward.
