MAD SCI, the operative word in your post is “fools” or just plain Haters.

Posted October 19, 2012 6:27 pm

The Mad Scientist

Some of these fools think because Cotto was the man at 140lbs it automatically makes him a tough out for Canelo who is a natural, strong, skilled 154lbs..

Posted October 19, 2012 6:24 pm

te tumbo

Btw, i favor Alvarez to demolish a ringworn and outgunned Cotto who is little more than a glorified gatekeeper at 154lbs. in fact, if JuanMono hadn’t been deStroyed by Salido, Cotto would’ve already been cashed-out by Arum v. Alvarez. a marquee fighter for every country is the Bobfather’s plan for world domination.

Williams was indeed a “TOUGH” and formidable competitor but never elite as so many are now insisting to pump-up Lara’s ring-profile. win Or lose, flaws in Williams’ fighting ability were continuously being exposed with each and every fight v. a broad range of opponents in varying weight-classes. by the time he encountered Lara, the wide-open book on Williams was that he was there to be Teed-Off upon Hard and Often. meanwhile, considering Alvarez’s paltry amateur career and the fact that he went pro at 15, we can consider the 22-year-old Canelo’s 43rd bout might as well be considered his first pro-bout, which will at-least partially explain why some posters insist that he’s such a soft-touch for Lara and every other 154lbr with more than 10 pro bouts.

Posted October 19, 2012 4:17 pm

SREDMOND

Paul Williams was a TOUGH out for anyone depite Martinez turning his lights out and Lara tagging him OVER and OVER with that left hand… That said Canelo is the truth the kid has an eerie poise in the ring and knows how to dig his shots with leverage on them… I would have to favor Canelo over most guys fighting at Jr MW not named Mayweather or Cotto…

Posted October 19, 2012 2:34 pm

te tumbo

anyway, Lara does still need to get by Martirosyan. IF he truly possesses breakaway talent, Martirosyan is the opponent he should demonstrate it against. another tough, grueling contest and win or lose, Lara remains one of the pack following NOT threatening Canelo.

Canelo will vacate those belts for a big payday and all the above mentioned can care less about a belt ppv numbers are belts to them.

Posted October 18, 2012 8:23 pm

WTF???

The Mexican Red Headed Fake has to defend that belt against the Mandatory Cuban Lara or he has to give it up.. He can’t sit on that belt and not defend it no matter how cute he is with his pretty Red Hair and Freckles..

The Mad Scientist

Sometimes you just know when a fighter is really that good regardless of resume and Canelo is one of them..watch!

Posted October 18, 2012 7:51 pm

The Mad Scientist

Titopa- Martinez has somewhat of a name now so Canelo knows his worth the risk..I give Alvarez a good chance against Sergios, ring resume don’t tell you the who story sometimes..Alsemo Moreno and Adrien Broner are considered top doggs and their track record isn’t any better than Canelo..

Posted October 18, 2012 7:47 pm

Titopa

TheFacts – Agreed! I didn’t think about a fight with Mayweather that way….he’ll makes TONS of cash and there won’t be any shame in losing to Floyd. Which, he will.

Posted October 18, 2012 7:29 pm

Titopa

The Mad Scientist – Not to mention that in an interview with Canelo (before his fight with Lopez), Canelo was asked about Martinez, and he said “I would’ve liked that fight, but my team and my promoters thought that his style and my style wouldn’t be crowd pleasing”….in other words, “Martinez likes to box and move and I need someone who’s gonna stand there so I can hit them and look good”. Pshhh!! Won’t happen! Martinez schools this youngster!

Posted October 18, 2012 7:28 pm

TheFacts

Peej,I read & I’ll believe it till I see it like chavez jr.I say GB will give it 2-3 more years when Sergio slows down. They have nothing to lose vs floyd & everything to gain I don’t see why not. That’s the fight they ultimately want not Sergio. If they do pick Sergio huge props but I highly doubt it(huge risk).Cotto has a better chance at landing canelo & floyd again.Cotto wants no part of Sergio either not anybody his size at 154lb.Lara,cotto would give canelo huge problems forget what Sergio/floyd would do to the kid.A lot of good fights out there though just need to be made.

Posted October 18, 2012 7:10 pm

Titopa

The Mad Scientist – It won’t happen! No way he beats Floyd or Martinez…Golden Boy KNOWS damn well that they’ve matched him carefully, not a single one of Canelo’s past opponents are the type of opponents who can prepare you for the caliber of Floyd or Sergio. It’s like night and day! Josesito Lopez and then on to Mayweather?? Hahaha! a 40yr old punching bag Mosley and then to Martinez?? Hahaha! That’s hilarious.

Posted October 18, 2012 7:05 pm

The Mad Scientist

Titopa- GBP may have no choice since Canelo is willing to sit out until they get them the fights he wants to prove himself..

Posted October 18, 2012 6:39 pm

Peej

Read somewhere Canelo is trying to fight Martinez on May 5th

Posted October 18, 2012 6:27 pm

The Best!

I dont see Lara ever transitioning froma good boxer to a great boxer, it was proven against another good boxer in Carlos Molina who was robbed. As for Canelo he definitely has offensive fire power and is a good boxer but until he fixes his defense he will never get past to being great. I dont see any of these two fighters ever becoming truly elite and Great.

Posted October 18, 2012 6:16 pm

Titopa

The Mad Scientist – Haha! The ONLY one I can see him getting is Cotto, Golden Boy isn’t foolish enough to let Canelo tangle with Floyd or Martinez.

Posted October 18, 2012 6:02 pm

The Best!

Ive seen this guy Lara fight and nothing out of the ordinary from this kid, just a good boxer. he will get exposed, my bad he has already by carlos Molina

Posted October 18, 2012 5:52 pm

The Mad Scientist

Canelo said he’ll be sitting out until May of 2013 hoping to get either Cotto, Mayweather or Martinez on that date..

Posted October 18, 2012 5:43 pm

Titopa

WTF?? – I’m Mexican and I’m all for my fellow Mexican boxers…but Canelo is being shoved down the throats of ignorant Mexican boxing “fans” as a “champion”, the same “fans” who wouldn’t know a true champ if they got punched in the face by one. They think he’s “great” due to the way he’s looked by beating smaller, weaker and far less skilled opponents who weren’t deserving of a title shot. I don’t buy that BS. I poke fun of all my family members who are riding the “Canelo express”, little do they know, that train blows smoke AND mirrors.

Posted October 18, 2012 5:28 pm

WTF??

Tumbo – Canelos as bogus as your claim to be a US citizen.. his record is laughable.. 25+fights in Mexican Cantinas against guys with Zero to very few actual fights??? he started that fake padded record at the age of 12 years old???? he’s only began fighting guys that weren’t cantina Drunks.. and only against over the hill shot smaller bums… he was gifted a belt and now refuses to fight his Mandatory Cuban Lara???? ROFLMAO.. he’s as bogus as they come.. all smoke and mirrors… he’ll be exposed just like Chavez Cheato Jr. was.. sooner or later he will have to take on a legit opponent.. and it will be just as humiliating as the Beating Chavez Cheato Jr. took from ARgentinian Martinez…

Posted October 18, 2012 4:05 pm

Titopa

Canelo has faced NOTHING but guys he CAN beat, mostly were sure lock wins, what’s “great” about that? I thought the point was to fight the BEST and take on challenges? Isn’t he a “champ”? It’s laughable.

Posted October 18, 2012 3:52 pm

Titopa

te tumbo – You call Lara’s accomplishments “mediocre” (I agree), well guess what, Canelo’s are too. It’s not hard to see that.

Posted October 18, 2012 3:49 pm

TheFacts

The only thing canelo is demolishing is jr welterweights don’t get ahead of yourself he’s the paper champ here not lara.Alvaraz has to fight Lara & Martinez which is now a possibility he fights both in that order.Believe it till I see it though.I say either or both expose the freckled kid.Who’s the next 140lb they’re going after?Mauricio Herrera?lol a great fight that would be right canela fans.

Posted October 18, 2012 3:49 pm

Titopa

te tumbo – Williams is better than ANYONE on Canelo’s resume, that’s for damn sure! Don’t act like it’s not either…you can throw Mosley’s name around all you want, we all know why that fight was made, same reason Pacman fought him. BS. Bottom line is Canelo’s yet to face ANYONE who poses a threat, regardless of Lara’s resume, he’s the #1 contender…if Canelo doesn’t wanna fight him (seems that way) then he should give up his title.

Posted October 18, 2012 3:48 pm

te tumbo

TITOPA, who is the elite fighter on Lara’s ring-resume? it certainly isn’t Williams and a rusty Molina took Lara to school with impunity. who else? comparing ring-resumes is the WORST and most inaccurate way to make comparisons between Alvarez and Lara unLess you’ve simply got problems with aNother Mexican ring-warrior preparing to dominate the sport(?).

Posted October 18, 2012 3:31 pm

te tumbo

real fight-fans who know boxing question Lara’s mediocre accomplishments as a 29-year-old professional, e.g., a controversial “Draw” v. Molina coming off a two-year layoff and “L” v. Williams AFter he was thoroughly exposed by Martinez equals capable prospect at most. otherwise, Vargas already had “Ws” v. prime Campas, Wright, and Quartey at the same point in his pro career, which makes Lara look like a “protected” hype-job by comparison. true fight-fans shook off the Cuban “mystique” a Lonnnng time ago and won’t believe it until we see it and thus far Lara hasn’t displayed the breakaway talent v. an elite fighter to warrant all the praise he frequently receives. conversely, Canelo’s only 22 with 40+ pro fights under his belt. no real fight-fan would disregard this foundation when evaluating Alvarez’s future. Btw, Canelo is the second Mexican pro fighter with red hair. Danny “El Coloradito” Lopez was the first, which apparently makes red-headed Mexican ring-warriors more common than any other ethnicity.

Posted October 18, 2012 3:28 pm

Titopa

tacoBENDER – Of course Canelo’s looked good…look who he’s been fighting, is there even an ELITE level fighter on his list of victims? I’m sure you’d say Mosley, but c’mon, we all know that was a fight to which Canelo would solely gain a wider fan base.

Lara will systematically pick Vanes apart after 3-4 rounds. The Cuban is a master boxer all the way around. His amateur pedigree is tops. You saw what he did to Paul Williams (bless him). When he fought Molina, he didn’t look good, but who does? Vanes is going to bring it, and is always tough, but he’s going to take a beating. And unless Canelo finds a way to avoid lara, he’s going to get beat up. Canelo is a lot of hype. Yes he has skills, but he is way too predictable to have any chance against a quality experienced boxer like Lara. Canelo also doesn’t have the best chin. He is usually the bully, and has his way because his opponents are usually smaller or older. Name one guy that he has fought of true quality? There have been none. All Canelo does is try his power hooks, tries to get you on the ropes and punches his opponent like he’s a heavy bag. Trust be, Canelo will get beaten up badly against Lara. Canelo is a media built fighter that has been brought along very carefully. The big Mexican following he has, and the machismo he exudes adds to his reputation. And of course he’s a unique red headed light skinned Mexican warrior. He smiles, and everyone likes him. True boxing fans that know boxing can see plenty of holes in his game. He will be exposed badly when and IF he fights lara. Guaranteed!

lara can flat out fight, the fight with canelo is a bad idea.

@ wtf na bruh he didn’t struggle with Mosley that was a one sided fight.. Hernandez on the other hand is a crum bumb that should of been out of there with in 5 rds

Posted October 18, 2012 1:38 pm

Canelo will ANNIHILATE Mr. Lara… Canelo is one seriously DANGEROUS fighter… with his only flaw being that at times he gets careless… but he hits so hard and precise that it makes up for it… MAYWEATHEResque

Posted October 18, 2012 1:28 pm

REM

Ha ha Canelo is a dead man walking. Dont get me wrong i like Canelo but G.B makes me want to c him get exposed. Lara is the best jmw and will finally be properly reconized. Btw Molina is a very good boxer and would outbox Canelo. Both would dance circles around Canelo and his cement feet.

Posted October 18, 2012 1:27 pm

WTF???… Pretty much the same thing… only not as brutal..

Posted October 18, 2012 1:24 pm

TacoBender – What do you think Lara would’ve done vs 140lb Josesito Lopez????

Posted October 18, 2012 1:21 pm

WTF???

Canelo struggled and looked average vs tiny 42 year old Mosely?? What’s your point..

Posted October 18, 2012 1:20 pm

Look like Lara struggled with Hernandez . If he can get passed vanes then canelo will put a beating on that boy…

Posted October 18, 2012 1:18 pm

tacoBENDER

The BEAST(EL CANELO) …will destroy Lara in the later rounds…I’m a Lara fan, but some people don’t quite understand how hard Alvarez hits. He reminds me alot of the P4P Best fighter in the world(MONEY MAY) in that he never wastes a punch. He throws accurate and deadly body shots and when he goes to the head..WATCH OUT!!! ..Let’s just call it what it is..Canelo is a CHINGON (BAD ASS).. Prove me wrong… JUST SAYIN’

Posted October 18, 2012 1:12 pm

Canelos people will never let their little Red Headed Prima Donna fight Cuban Lara.. they’ll continue looking for old shot smaller fighters to continue their Fraude on the Boxing Public… Canelo will get exposed just like Chavez Chicken Jr… eventually…
