I see this as a fairly easy win for Wladimir Klitschko. Ask Tony Thompson, who has been in with both. He is probably the most qualified to offer an opinion.Posted June 22, 2014 11:20 pm
Pulev got some people pulling their hairs. Pulev-Wlad 2014! Both bring no excuses and bring the best! Go Pulev!Posted June 22, 2014 5:22 pm
Wladimir will knock Pulev out . Wladimir is only hesitant when it’s against an opponent who packs a punch. This fight will be much like his 2nd fight with Chris Byrd. Actually I think Chris Byrd is more elusive that Pulev. I see this ending in 4.Posted June 22, 2014 5:00 pm
i dont think Pulew will beat Wladimir, hes too good for him.Posted June 22, 2014 12:49 pm
Wlad is tough in the clinches. He is powerful and strong and uses his strength and elbows to rough a guy up. Pulev is tough, but Wlad is also tough and knows how to wear an opponent down with his strength. Wlad may get cut in this one, but his toughness will secure a victory for him, in addition to his full arsenal of punches. And he has the full arsenal, where Pulev does not.Posted June 22, 2014 12:36 pm

i figure a UD for klitschko. 117-111Posted June 22, 2014 2:07 am
Klitschko will demoralize Pulev with his jab for about 3 or 4 rounds. Then he will shoot the straight right, and it will be lights out Pulev.Posted June 21, 2014 10:25 pm
Kubrat likes steady pressure behind his jab. He likes to press the issue and make you feel uncomfortable. He has a very heavy and accurate jab which helps beat people down.
Dimitrenko was KO’d with a jab. Ustinov went out from a very long range left hook. Both were beaten down brutally with the jab … and also Pulev’s 250lbs behind it.
I don’t think that will work with Wladimir, but I’ll be interested in seeing what happens in the clinches. Pulev is a somewhat contemptuous character. A bit of Roberto Duran without the trash talking, if that makes sense.Posted June 21, 2014 10:18 pm
Tark, I agree he will attack Wlad like Thompson did in the first fight.
But, I think Pulev is a cautious fighter, not an agressive fighter who goes for the k.o.
Pulev kills you with a thousand cuts
If Pulev exchanges hooks with Wlad, he’s going down like Leapai and Povetkin.
Pulev wants to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
Pulev’s insane training I think refers to stamina training and wrestling- which he spoke of…
The key to Pulev winning is bursts of aggression- not balls to the wall recklessnessPosted June 21, 2014 8:38 pm
yo…, I think the jab will be a strategy… but Wladimir has a better and sharper jab – and cracks the right hand behind it very well – and his left hook is a killer.
I believe the strategy will be steady pressure… Even if Pulev is taking considerable punishment he has to keep the presssure on — he’s not going to get an opportunity to hurt Wladimir seriously if he can’t remain uncomfortably close…
He knows this and that’s what his “insane training” comment was all about.Posted June 21, 2014 8:26 pm
If you’ve never been beaten and have been a pro for 10 years or more… and you’re a big ass heavyweight… and you trained insanely for months on end… and a victory would completely change your life… and you’re facing a 38-year-old man who’s been knocked out before?
Just because you lose the first round or first 5 rounds doesn’t mean you’re not going to be ready to take your shot at victory when the slightest opportunity presents itself. You’ve lived your life for this one moment.
I believe Pulev is going to step on the gas and go for it at some point during the fight… He knows he’s a massive underdog, and he knows huge underdogs have won before. He doesn’t want to leave that ring without having taken his best shot at knocking Wladimir out. He’s a winner and has a lot of character. Plus he believes he’s physically tougher than Wladimir. That’s a big mental edge if you can ever force a brutal exchange.
I make him a 6:1 underdog… You wouldn’t spin the barrel on a revolver and point it at your head would you? Wladimir is taking a small of chance himself.Posted June 21, 2014 8:17 pm
Tark, I think it gets eveb better than that: Pulev doesn’t have to set up a power shot, his JAB is power shot.
Pulev bloodied Ustinov’s face early in round two primarily with the jab.
Pulev can damage Wlad fighting cautiously, and simply pumping the jab.
Pulev does not have to leave himself open by swinging wide hooks.
That is the beauty of Pulev’s style- he conserves energy by relying on his jab, not energy depleting hooks.Posted June 21, 2014 8:10 pm
And then he steps into the ring and realizes how intimidating Wlad is and goes into survival mode!Posted June 21, 2014 7:39 pm
Pulev is undefeated because he’s very smart…
You may underrate his power but NOBODY else ever stopped Ustinov or Dimitrenko.
If you can punch – and your opponent has been knocked out – you have a chance.
This title shot is something Pulev has been working towards for many years. Fight night will be the pivotal and most critical moment of his whole career – maybe his whole life. Therefore his preparation is going to be insane. He’s going to do a David Haye.
Mariusz Wach was given no chance. He took a severe beating round after round. Then Wach’s right hand hit pay dirt. Wladimir was hurt – but Wach didn’t, or couldn’t, follow up well. Pulev probably studied that portion of that fight over and over again, thinking, “What could I do differently? How in the world did Wladimir slip away?”
He’ll have a plan. He’ll be looking for the long left hook, not the right hand. He won’t give a damn about how many rounds he’s losing – except he knows the earlier he strikes the better. He knows he has to land that rangy left hook … and be very cool on the follow up.
He probably believes the first 2 rounds will give him the best occasions to pull the cord. It’s like buying put options… They’re wasting assets so you exercise them soon as you can.Posted June 21, 2014 6:47 pm
@burst a bubble…oh ffs. Oquendo is totally irrelevant in todays hw picture. And this title is a pointless joke. chagev is a decent fighter but a win over Fres means NOTHINGPosted June 21, 2014 5:32 pm

Pulev should make an entertaining KO victim unless his pinky toe is swollen. For those clamoring for a Wlad/ Fury match thinking he has any chance whatsoever, I really can’t help your mental state. Fury punched himself in the face. Fury had trouble with the power of an old small washed up light punching cruiser that put him on his ass. He has no real power. He is slow. In other words just bring Leapi back in, because at least he had a “punchers chance” because I don’t want to see “no chance” even if Wlad is at 50%.Posted June 20, 2014 7:28 pm

It’s O.K. to claim you’re going to beat the champ and take his tittle , that is after all what every contender worth his
Just watched some footage from Pulev. I’m not impressed. He can put pressure on C-level fighter, but when he faces better opponents, he gets very carefull in his approach. He also needs many hits until his opponents finally drop; his KO power is limited.
I think we will see a lot of running from Pulev after 3 rounds when he hit survival mode. It is not that he can not box, no, he is one of the better HW’s out there right now. But he is kind of made for Wladimir. A technically skilled boxer who does not like to brawl, but with limited power. The problem is, that Wlad is better in almost any department, except for the speed. So Wlad can work him all night long, without a high risk of being knocked out (not enough power, no Haymaker…). To me the only question is, will Pulev fight to win (and loose by KO) or will he run to survive 12 rounds.Posted June 20, 2014 10:43 am

Pulev is the best challenger right now. I think tghe fight could be fairly competetive, but it will be a chess match. Like Haye-Wlad. Without the trash talkingPosted June 20, 2014 7:05 am
Let’s get real Pulev was decked by a bum named Abell. Even fatass Arreola destroyed Abell in the first round. Pulev is a B fighter nothing special.
Pulev will do well I think, but suffer a 12 round decision loss.
Say wot u like against pulev but this should be a good fight wlad wins but least it will be competitive
I liked the way Pulev chopped down two very big men being Dimitrenko and Ustinov and handled a very sneaky rangy southpaw but wlad is several levels above these guys. Pulev will at least test wlads ability more than leapai, pianetta, mormeck and wach did but wlad is the champ and he should handle pulev well. Pulev is a much better match up than stiverne who is too short, too slow and has a low work rate and will simply not land a big punch on wlad and I doubt stiverne will beat wilder if they meet.Posted June 20, 2014 3:14 am
Pulev despite his solid 6’4 frame is a mobile jabber. Both men will try to out jab each other all nite. Both men will be cautious. Pulev will have more success than Sultan Ibragimov but it will be a similar type of fight with very little close in action. Wlad the taller faster man with the longer reach and bigger punch will win by boring UD. Both men will not engage as they are both cautious boxers not brawlers.Posted June 20, 2014 3:10 am

Either way there is no-one that Pulev could have fought to get him ready for Wlad, there is only one Wlad.Posted June 19, 2014 6:13 pm
Wlad is going to fight Pulev so there will be no IBF title handed over to him. Wlad isn’t avoiding anyone, plus he wants to keep his belts. Unification afterwards would be cool. Klitschko TKO Pulev.Posted June 19, 2014 6:13 pm

Wlad pads his record this past year and gets praise. Pulev puts guys bigger than him to get ready for Wlad and gets no credit. Tony gave up against Wlad. Nothing to gain. If Tony would have given up against Pulev, he would have cashed in his worth. Tony is still the best in the USA and would in a heart beat take the belt from Stiverne. Pulev does not even have serious “power” working for him no amount hype is gonna make this some sort of Summit meeting… Pulev is a solid challenger during this dorman era of HW boxing but he does not stand out from the pack by much unless you benchmark him against Mormeck, Pianeta, Lepai and Wach who are just woeful…Posted June 19, 2014 4:00 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)
Pulev is a skilled boxer with a rock-solid chin and is the rated as the #2 HW in the world. WK will beat him because he’s simply the best — head and shoulders above the competition. But Pulev will give any other HW in the world fits for days and may actually beat every HW out there except for WK.
The only way Pulev can win is via knock out and I don’t think he has enough explosive power to pull it off. And there’s certainly no way that he can outbox King Wlad.
Prediction: WK will win by UD or late stoppage.Posted June 19, 2014 2:38 pm
Everybody that hates Klitschko keep on dreaming, Pulev doesn’t only lose, he gets KNOCKED OUT. If you are a serious boxing fan, look at his class and his record, he’s not a great boxer, and he surely is not a great puncher, whats he got 10 K.Os, look at who he has fought and who Klitchko has fought, no comparison, as I said, if you want a cheap thrill, keep on dreaming and picking Pulev. Pulev beat Ustinov who would be a handful for anybody not named Klitschko. Ustinov just ended David Tua’s career. Dimentrenko could also give anybody except Klitschko a good fight on a good night.
