Love-the-sport your not a Fan of the sport your a dick rider styles make fights if bailey is so bad how come devon didn’t get praised after winning or Mike Jones after getting KO’d Devon still acused of being boring gtfohPosted July 10, 2014 11:39 am
Baily is a great gate keeper and is just telling how bad boxing has become.Posted July 9, 2014 1:20 pm
If you think Pac fighting Algieri makes no sense, perhaps you understand how fans felt the same about Floyd fighting Guerrero, Ortiz and contemplates fighting Khan of all fighters available. If Arum is going to receive flack on this, you might as well include Floyd in the sweepstakes, since he too is his own “promoter” and has done nothing different in terms of fighting the very best opponents possible. Floyd is certainly not showing by example when he uses a survey to select an opponent. I mean, WTF?Posted July 9, 2014 7:04 am
Randall’s remarks were a nice, subtle, yet direct reference to Floyd, in terms of using the boxing business to become punks and politicize the sport of boxing instead of doing the right thing by the fans of the sport who have made them and their promoters rich, and use the sport merely to earn a check but not to make real history and leave a legitimate legacy in boxing. Glad someone in the sport has the brass to tell it like it really is.Posted July 9, 2014 6:57 am
Bailey is old and merely a gate keeper. If that at all. He can’t beat the A level comp. He is somewhat competitive against B level fighters and from time to time may be able to get a win. Other than that he is nothing in the boxing game anymore.Posted July 8, 2014 8:53 pm
New York Daily News is reporting Chris Algieri, of Long Island, has offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in China in November.
This just shows the unbelievable stupidity of the sport of boxing and the unbelievable ripoff that promoters like Bob Arum are attempting to pull-off.
You know who Chris Algeri should be fighting?
Randall Bailey. Why? Chris Algeri fought a good but uninteresting fight against Provodnikov in a fight that really nobody — other than Bob Arum — thinks Algeri won.
Provodnikov should get a rematch.
If not, then Randall Bailey would be a good test for Chris Algeri.
Pacquiao fight is ridiculous. Algeri has not earned it. This fight is happening because Bob Arum has NOBODY — NOBODY left to put in the ring with Pacquiao and Algeri might help get Pacquiao over 500,000 PPV because of the New York City following.
But I doubt. Pacquiao vs. Algeri will be huge PPV loser and show Pacquiao is becoming irrelevant in the world of boxing not because of Pacquiao and his skills — but because his promoter has nobody to put in the ring with Pacquiao.
This is a joke.Posted July 8, 2014 7:16 pm
unfortunately no one wants to be the guy that picks the version of bailey that decides to go for itPosted July 8, 2014 5:45 pm
Unfortunately the risk/reward scenario doesn’t favor Bailey now. Prospects and contenders won’t face him because of the chance they’ll get KTFO.Posted July 8, 2014 3:34 pm
Killing Moon i agree. It’s not like he called out Pacquiao and Mayweather. These are legit call outs.Posted July 8, 2014 3:03 pm
I think this is a perfectly legitmate call out and i will you tell you why. Thurman is a dangerous up and coming fighter. Most people avoid him. Julio Diaz indeed did not belong in the ring with him. It was a crap matchup, typical Al Haymon mismatch. Thurman has not fought a puncher yet. If he is to be beleived and he wants to fight trial horses, why put him in with Diaz? Randal actually would be a good respectable veteran opponent for him.Posted July 8, 2014 3:02 pm
“HEADS I KNOCK YOU OUT, TAILS I KNOCK YOU OUT!” GET ‘EM!!!Posted July 8, 2014 2:34 pm
” Randall either knocks you out, or Randall loses ” Oh yeah, ….Randal just wanna fight and knock some heads of shoulders.Posted July 8, 2014 2:14 pm
Killing Moon The Soothsayer
How anyone can possibly call Bailey’s wish to fight Berto a reach is beyond me…We’re talking about a two-time champ challenging a guy who’s lost 3 out of his last 4 fights..Who’s only fought 4 times since 2010…Reaching? Get out of here !!
What ? Thurman can’t use a Bailey fight on his record ? Win/lose ? Who the hell has Thurman fought to be held in such high esteem…
These fights are actually reasonable requests…Posted July 8, 2014 2:11 pm
Like many boxing fans I have always loved Bailey but he isn’t much else other than a right hand. Granted that right hand can take anyone out at anytime in a fight but he has had his chances. Have no problem with him working his way back for another title shot but he has to get active again. I guess that is what he is trying to do here.Posted July 8, 2014 1:51 pm
You gotta love Bailey and the open letter which is part plea to be signed by Uncle Al and part comedy. For instance, he says at one point that “Fighters [are] agreeing to fights and pulling out…no names need to be mentioned.” He then “mention[s]” Berto shortly thereafter as a potential fighter that has agreed to and then pulled out of a scrap with Bailey. I love that kind of pugilistic hypocrisy.
That withstanding, I wouldn’t mind seeing Berto/Bailey. I think it would be kind of fun. I’m not fully sold on Thurman, but I believe he would lay waste to the aging Bailey so I don’t need to see that one.
But I can’t say that I wasn’t entertained by this mini tirade that Bailey fired off. Briggs has done the same recently and it seems to work for some. I just wish more guys would do so in the ring, than on paper or on the twittersphere. But I can’t knock his hustle.Posted July 8, 2014 1:29 pm
Bailey is doing some good old fashioned trash talking which is cool, but lets NOT forget he is just trying to drum up a fight that he is NOT entitled to… He had Devon Alexander in the ring and fought a STINKING low activity fight while losing and not really going for it… Bailey is starting to sound like Anthony Mundine or some of these guys looking to generate a payday with their mouths when their fists cannot sell a bout anymore…Posted July 8, 2014 1:04 pm
Killing Moon The Soothsayer
Have no probs with Bailey fighting Thurman or Berto…As a matter of fact ..I think he’s quite understanding about, where he is in the fight-game and who he’s suppoesed to call out…Instead of wanting mega-fights without earning them..How refreshing.Posted July 8, 2014 11:54 am
Finally someone (a boxer) who’s calling BS on the boxing BS. Everyone’s a businessman these days.
Look at Garcia and Rod Silkha. Who the F*** is Rod Silkha? Randall Bailey’s a decent fighter but he just went up a couple of ‘cool’ points for this rant. More boxers need to step it up like this instead of hiding behind their promotors and advisors. I HATE it when a boxer is asked who he’d like to fight next and they give that BS answer.. “OH, I’ll let my promotor or advisor figure that out.” That’s straight-up BS.Posted July 8, 2014 11:39 am
Good for Bailey to say it like it is. Everyone wants a shot at a title without working for it. Berto did indeed get bit in the ass by Karma. I would like to see Thurman step in the ring with Bailey but Thurman (like everyone else) wants Mayweather.Posted July 8, 2014 11:20 am
Randall either knocks you out, or Randall loses.Posted July 8, 2014 10:55 am
He has 8 losses. Zip the trap.Posted July 8, 2014 10:47 am
I’m glad they have a belt for midget boxing. That is good for society.Posted July 8, 2014 10:00 am

To the boxing world and Randall Bailey.
You don’t throw enough punches.
Your fights can be sleepy boring affairs that sometimes — REPEAT SOMETIMES — end in one-punch knockouts.
But these knockouts have been primarily against B-level opponents.
Throw more punches and put on more exciting fights … and then maybe somebody will care and offer you a new set of fights against A-level opponents.
Most boxing fans would hope that Berto — who seems done and has taken terrible beatings — would just retire rather than see Berto in any more pitiful performances.
Berto vs. Bailey would actually be close because Bailey doesn’t throw any punches. And Bailey might actually connect with Berto and get the knockout because everybody seems to have been knocking out Berto lately — so it would not be considered impressive. And again, fans don’t want to see Berto get punch drunk before he is 35 years old. Berto should retire.
There is no reason for Thuman vs. Bailey until Bailey proves he can be in an exciting fight. Bailey should get on an ESPN or Fox or Telemundo card and throw more punches. Give us drama. Give us excitement.Posted July 8, 2014 7:33 am
