TARK

Sredmond lies.., “TARK is the SAME so called boxing expert who considers David Haye an “Ali equivalent”

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! Ali never saw the day he could punch like Haye.

How can David Haye POSSIBLY be an Ali equivalent unless Haye would lay on the ropes and absorbs unnecessary punishment??? That wasn’t good for Ali’s health or longevity.

Frankly, I’ve never seen David Haye fight that stupidly.

WK got Haye on the ropes for 15 seconds – when he had a broken toe and couldn’t even move that fluidly.

How can David Haye POSSIBLY be an Ali equivalent unless Haye couldn’t punch hard enough to KO weak, tiny, neophyte, non-boxers like Alfredo Evangelista and Rudi Lubbers???

Frankly, Alfred and Rudi would have been 1-round jobs for The Hayemaker.

How can David Haye be an Ali Equivalent if Haye punches with smashing power??? Ask 247lb Dereck Chisora about the impact of Haye’s devastating bombs.

Or do you think Tyson Fury is going to KO Chisora??? LOL

WHO from Ali’s era had the combination of speed, power, skill, and smarts of a David Haye?

LMFAO – thinking of the bums you might put forward for the comparison. Deontay Wilder would make a fair comparison, but nobody from the 1970’s.

The 1970’s didn’t have any athletes.. Joe Frazier’s performance in SuperStars was embarrassing disgraceful to BOXING. If Ali tried Super Stars it would have been worse.

Ali “the greatest” was an ILLUSION. Fans believed it. They showed for Ali-Holmes.

Yeah Hughie heard that Joseph Parker was coming and he ran for his life. He went and hid behind the couch with Anthony Joshua. When they got there, they found Fury, Price and Chisora all trembling in fear because Lucas Browne got tickets to the gig as well. What a sad little stinky island full of windbags and pretenders (exception Froch) being exposed one after another. Kelly Le Brock will be next when Porter punishes him for just looking like a tw@t.

Off subject: I’ve heard David Haye’s planning another comeback & become a vegan. What’s that about?
While I’m here doe’s anyone know why Hughie Fury’s been pulled from the Fury/Chisora card?

Haye probably is better than Ali was. Stronger, faster and hits harder. Haye will probably fight Chaggy next for the wba regular belt. Then match with Fury for the wba title shot. Chisora will retire after being embarrassed by Fury.

Fight Aficionado.., I think Chisora will deserve a 12-round decision.. Whether he gets it or not is problematic.. Boxing judges suck and always have.. He might have a similar problem to his Helenius fight.

But to score a KO, Tyson Fury has to stop throwing popcorn balls.. Chisora too.. To KO a big heavyweight with a strong chin – you have to throw harder than they do. They have to toss the popcorn and start throwing.

Like Tony Thompson said, “David Price loads up and tries to throw harder. Wladimir Klitschko doesn’t load up but lands a lot harder. You can’t get hit by him.”

But especially when you look at the size and speed of 70’s heavyweight challengers like Dave Zyglewicz, Terry Daniels, Joe Roman, Jean Pierre Coopman, Richard Dunn, Alfredo Evangelista, and Manuel Ramos, it’s plain to see they wouldn’t be highly ranked in the modern era, …”

Not only wouldn’t they be highly ranked as HWs, most of the guys you listed above would hardly be top CW contenders today! As HWs they’d be light punching bags for tier 2 modern HWs, never mind the K bros.

Patrice Jones says.., “Tark you always forget that multiple losses on 70s heavyweight records are also a symptom of just how much more active they were back then. Modern heavyweights, for the most part, fight extremely infrequently.”

They also last longer… are better prepared for big fights with longer training camps… and get paid better for the most part.

Wladimir is 62-3.. That’s 65 fights.. I don’t see a lot of heavyweight from that era who had a lot more.

Joe Frazier had 30 something wins — so Joe couldn’t have been TOO super active… As hittable as he was — it was a GOOD thing he didn’t fight a lot.

If Chisora didn’t exist, would there be a heavyweight division? Seems like he’s been involved in about half of the important HW fights of the last 3-4 years.

I don’t like him much but he’s definitely a catalyst. That should be his label. He’s not really a Contender, Journeyman, or Gatekeeper, but a Catalyst.

Fury will have too much once Chisora gasses, I see a fight not too unlike Cunningham here. Fury will hold and lean and put some elbows in, this may get the old wild Chisora swinging and Fury will pick him off with some big shots. Not sure I can agree that Chisora has really improved that much, his wins after the loses were not against great opponents, even Scott was probably ahead on the cards before getting put on his ass and forgetting the rules of going down and getting up and being ready by 10. I think Fury will end up on the canvas at least once, but the guy does appear to have powers of recovery.

TARK

There are some terminal idiots like woulda coulda on this board.

Nobody is giving anyone a pass for losing… That said, The K Bros both have a higher winning ratios and KO ratios than Lewis, Holmes, Holyfield, Foreman, Ali, or Frazier.

Nobody is giving Larry Holmes a pass on losing to Michael Spinks and Mike Tyson. But Holmes was Heavyweight Champ for 20 title defenses until losing to Spinks in his 49th fight.

Wladimir is 38 and only behind Louis and Holmes in title defenses.. He’s in better shape at an older age, and a bigger, stronger, and better fighter—who hasn’t been beaten in 10 years, or since Steward revamped his stance, footwork, defense, and clinching skills. He is 62-3.

Vitali is 45-2 and his only defeats were due to injuries because he was ahead on points on all score cards to both Lewis and Byrd… Wladimir didn’t have to avenge his losses to Puritty and Sanders because his big brother Vitali knocked them out… Likewise Wladimir very easily battered the life out of slick boxer Chris Byrd, in 2 contests that were so one-sided it was ridiculous.

Partisans can always claim their competition was better. But especially when you look at the size and speed of 70’s heavyweight challengers like Dave Zyglewicz, Terry Daniels, Joe Roman, Jean Pierre Coopman, Richard Dunn, Alfredo Evangelista, and Manuel Ramos, it’s plain to see they wouldn’t be highly ranked in the modern era, with a top 25 like the following:

1. Wladimir Klitschko… 2. Kubrat Pulev… 3. Deontay Wilder… 4. Bermane Stiverne… 5. Tyson Fury… 6. David Haye… 7. Bryant Jennings… 8. Alexander Povetkin… 9. Vyacheslav Glazkov 10. Carlos Takam… 11. Mike Perez… 12. Lucas Browne… 13. Andy Ruiz… 14. Ruslan Chagaev… 15. Dereck Chisora… 16. Steve Cunningham… 17. Alexander Ustinov… 18. Odlanier Solis… 19. Alex Leapai… 20. Tony Thompson… 21. Tomasz Adamek… 22. Malik Scott… 23. Chris Arreola… 24. Luis Ortiz… 25. Joseph Parker

Posted July 8, 2014 7:48 pm

Coulda Woulda

Tark is just a troll , an attention seeking old man who plays favourites.

He forgives Larry Holmes for facing the worst lineup of challengers imaginable ( check out Holmes first ten defences on boxrec ) , forgives Holmes for never unifying the crown and accepting the IBF title ( which started the alphabet avalanche ), gives Holmes a pass for being terrified of and destroyed by Mike Tyson ( the only fast swarmer Holmes faced ) and gives Holmes a pass for ducking Page , Dokes and Coetzee and avoiding rematches with Williams and Witherspoon.

Holmes was disqualified against Bobick for “not fighting ” after Bobick hurt Holmes with a right hand .

Watch Holmes vs Weaver 2 if you want to see boxing at its worst .

He gives Vitali a pass for quitting against Byrd and losing on his stool against Lewis and gives Wlad a pass for ducking the Puritty and Sanders rematches .

Logic is beyond the old fool , he deals in bias , semantics and spin .

WHAT!?!

I’m going against the majority in this one. Chisora by UD. Chisora has been disciplined of late and has faced much better opposition. If Fury turns up looking like his last fight, then he’ll be lucky to go 12.

Fury is simply a better boxer. Inside and outside fury is better. He has too much of a physical advantage at 6’9 and has faster hands and feet than chisora and more one punch power. His biggest weakness is his focus/concentration. If fury’s head is right he will win by wide ud or late ko/tko.

Chisora losses have the same story as Arreola’s: He was in poor shape, this time he’ll be in good shape, then he loses anyhow. Fury by TKO this time, presuming he shows up trim.

Patrice Jones.., The only hard fight Chisora endured was Haye. Vitali with his one-armed performance wasn’t able to dent Dereck. Helenius didn’t have the punching power to do jack to DC. Robert got his ass kicked in 10 rounds. Fury wasn’t rocking Chisora with huge shots. He was hitting a badly bloated 265-pound Chisora all night, but he was throwing popcorn. It was ridiculous.

Haye did more damage to Chisora in 5 rounds then the 3 giants did in 36 rounds. He was the prototype of a super conditioned, rock hard, clever boxing, massive punching heavyweight. For once in his career DH put it together. Chisora needed that brutal beating and KO loss to wake him up. You can’t walk through everybody’s punches and club them down. You actually have to work hard at getting into condition and developing a defense.

DC learned from that canning.

Of the two heavyweights, Chisora has improved the most since the 1st fight. I think the judges will tend to favor Fury. Other than that, Chisora should give a stronger effort over 12 rounds.

Unless Fury is just pretending to be slipshod and nonchalant about the fight – and behind the scenes he’s actually been training like a maniac so he will fool everybody.

But what are the chances of that???

When Fury steps up his level of competition, then I will start to take notice. Chisora needs to man up and take this clown out for all of us boxing fans. Fury is a joke and the minute he fights someone of relevance he will be exposed as the fraud he is. Kindda like what happened to Gary Russel Jr.

The boxing world is a more interesting place with an unbeaten Fury, but his concentration and attention to defence waver. I hope I am wrong, but I think that if Chisora is in shape and keeps the pressure on, he can win this time.

Chisora will defeat Fury by KO. He will set the pace right from the start and stop Fury in the latter rounds.

Oooz ball people think Fury wins because there is widespread suspicion that Chisora has too many miles on the clock. He’s done 12 hard rounds with Fury, 12 rounds with the big punching Helenius and the distance with Vitali, not to mention being badly knocked out by Haye. I think most people assume Tyson will be fresher, faster, bigger and therefore wins
