Tough guy SC goes with his hometown hero Canelo, what a shocker. Of course that’s only when this keyboard warrior wants to be Mexican, other times when it suits him he is American. He is a fence sitter of Boxtradamus proportions. I can hear him now “Mom, MEATLOAF”. What a noob.Posted July 11, 2014 11:42 pm
Weight’s not a factor. That’s why Floyd wanted to fight Corpse-elo at a catch-weight. Because he wanted him at a weight he was comfortable and strong at so there could be no excuses.
“I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he’s not comfortable. I want a guy when he’s at his best. If he’s at his best at 154 and he’s strong and he’s solid, then that’s the fight we’re fighting at. I walk around at 150, but at the end of the day – skills pay the bills…. Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses.”
–Floyd Mayweather, February of 2012.Posted July 11, 2014 9:52 pm
You’re full of Bull Crap PEEJ
If you stop because of an injury it’s a KO… This was recorded as a KO… All TKO’s are KO’s… Such as in: “He’s got 42 KO’s in 51 fights,” many of those were TKO’s.
If you’re stopped because of an injury your opponent caused with an intentional or unintentional foul — such as an accidental headbutt — you go to the scorecards.
If the injury is a knee, shoulder, hand, jaw, back, or other injury that’s incidental, no matter how far you’re ahead in the fight, even if you won every round, you lose the fight by KO. It could be called a “retirement” if you quit between rounds … but you still lose.Posted July 11, 2014 9:49 pm
Weight is not the factor. SKILLS is. And that’s why Floyd is the GOAT.Posted July 11, 2014 9:44 pm
Canelo is Drain-elo at 155 but at 152 he was Corpse-elo. Floyd is such a gigantic pu$$y. And people wonder why he has so many haters and most boxing fans don’t respect him?Posted July 11, 2014 9:38 pm
No he didn’t. Mosley had to stop because of back spasms. Yeah it’s in the books as a TKO but he wasn’t KOd. Like I said he has one of the best chinsPosted July 11, 2014 9:20 pm
Nope. Mundine just KO’d him.Posted July 11, 2014 9:12 pm

This is supposed to be a boxing forum for discussion but all I see is a bunch of hating on Alvarez. Canelo didn’t have to take this fight but he did, that doesn’t sound like fear to me. That sounds like he’s ready to put some hurt on somebody with a big mouth. I’m curious to see what all these haters will have to say next when Canelo starches this kid…..because Lara is definitely going to get his chin checked no doubt.Posted July 11, 2014 8:01 pm
Lara and Rigondeaux both are damn boring cubian boxers.Posted July 11, 2014 7:37 pm

Well, since both made weight at exactly 155 I predict Canelo wins. Tough fight for both but Lara’s mad dog behavior this week is starting to creep me out like Andre Dirrell did with Karl Froch. It’s supposed to imply he’s bringing heat but I think he’ll run too much and not counter enough. Canelo by UD with some close rounds that could go either way.Posted July 11, 2014 7:09 pm
Sredmond.., “We have no idea if Lomanchenko is gonna be a serious force or if he will be out of boxing in 3 years… Its a crap shoot at this point!!!”
You mean YOU have no clue Sredmond … You don’t know a damned thing.
A man who’s won 2 Olympic Gold Medals and went 396-1 as an amateur – dethrones a world champion in his 2nd fight as a professional… Wins the dethroned champ’s World Featherweight Championship in his 3rd fight as a professional.. That is unprecedented.
Such never before accomplished feats in the sport of Boxing mean Lomachenko has a great future.. You don’t think much of his future for obvious reasons.. You haven’t haven’t liked a European fighter except for David Haye—who you picked to KO Vitali Klitschko in 4 rounds — a man who’s never been floored in his life.Posted July 11, 2014 6:57 pm
Canelo couldn’t even stop Shane Mosley. There is NO WAY in the World that he stops Lara other than a SISSYFIED stoppage. I’ll take Canelo by TWO blind MICE decision.Posted July 11, 2014 6:51 pm
Tark my friend, trust me on this. Lara will not make the 12th round. The punches from Angulo were slow, predictable and telegraphed. Canelo has better speed, feet and better power than Angulo, and eventually he’s going to catch up with Lara. Lara will do well for 3-5 rounds, but he will break under the pressure Canelo is going to put on him. Trout, Angulo and Martirosyan do not offer what Canelo offers. If Canelo decides to try and out box Lara, Lara stands a slim chance, but I think this will be Canelo’s time to shine. He’s gone through the tough fights, knows his body better and he’s been on the big stage. He hasn’t quite put it all together, but tomorrow night, I think he will bring his A game and win impressively. Las Vegas will be Mexico for a night, and he will have a huge amount of fans cheering him on wildly. Lara also said some things that have really perturbed Canelo. He is as motivated as he’s ever been. As far as Lara goes, he’s very talented. It will be hard to beat him for 3-5 rounds, but thereafter, his legs and body won’t carry him because of Canelo’s power punching to the body and head. Lara has no idea how to fight inside. All he does is grab and hold on. He’s a good sharp shooter that is not physical. Canelo will come into the ring with a lot of weight, and over the course of 8,9,10 rounds, Lara’s turkey legs won’t be able to handle it. Bet the house on Canelo to stop Lara.Posted July 11, 2014 6:38 pm

My official pick: Lara on points
Both have a GREAT chance. May the best man win.Posted July 11, 2014 6:29 pm
My pick is Lara on points. If Im wrong so be it. My reasoning is the comparison of a common opponent in Austin Trout and the fact Canelo didn’t try hard enough versus Mayweather. If Canelo had pushed harder and finished looking a mess then you know he’d have the stomach for a hard battle. To me he doesn’t have what the likes of Barrera, Morales and Chavez snr had and that is the do or die attitude you need to succeed at the highest level. If Canelo does succeed then I will revise my thinking of him. Right now he has it all to do.Posted July 11, 2014 6:22 pm
I got Canelo by KO. I don’t think Lara has the lateral movement required to keep the pressure off.Posted July 11, 2014 6:20 pm

PEEJ swinging on the nutsack of Floyd again. The only thing Floyd will be remembered for is ducking Pacquiao. He made unrealistic demands and then when Pacquiao, eventually, agreed to all of them he changed the goal posts again. Everything is up for debate when PEEJ is in the house because he will find any miniscule reason to argue. Of course if you don’t see it his way, he throws a tanty and leaves his basement to tell his mother all about it, through tears of failure. The biggest sook on ESB.Posted July 11, 2014 3:36 am
That would be up for debate. Could be Roy Jones, could be Floyd. Pac was relevant and was popular. But So were other boxers. If you look at Roy before he lost to Tarver he was considered the greatest. Right now Floyd is considered one of the greatest. He sells millions of PPVs and has topped Forbes as one of the top influential persons of 2014. He has topped their list with money earned. He has made more money than any boxer. Pac was exciting in the ring. So it would depend on who you ask and who their favorite fighter was. But as of now Floyd is the greatest boxer of his generation.Posted July 11, 2014 2:37 am
I like Lara’s story: the kon tiki trip thru shark infested waters to the United States of paranoia. The amatuer record. Living his dream etc. I can see though he getting caught up with, at some point, some heavy shots that drop him. That’ll be his test. Can he recover from that.Posted July 11, 2014 2:22 am
Gentlemen, bet your house on a Canelo victory. Lara will have a hard time dealing with the pressure Canelo is going to put on him. The right uppercut is going to catch Lara as well as the left hook to both the body and head. Canelo has to cut off the ring because Lara will not stand still. Canelo is the stronger fighter with the heavier punch. Once they weigh in, Canelo should have a good weight advantage once they fight. Lara does have a straight, fast left hand that does damage because most fighters don’t see it coming. Canelo also has a habit of picking of the right jab with his left hand. He needs to change that up because Lara will feint the jab and throw a good right hook. This should be a bit of a chess match for 2-3 rounds, and then Canelo should begin to decipher Lara’s southpaw style. Canelo Alvarez will stop Lara.Posted July 11, 2014 2:15 am
Try Roy Jones JrPosted July 11, 2014 2:13 am
so Peej, who was the more relevant boxer in the last 15 years than Pacquiao? Who gave a real buzz to Boxing?Posted July 11, 2014 2:11 am
Was that Lara who got decked twice by Angulo? Got lucky and caught Angulo at the precise angle to break his orbital bone. Not a win to scream to the whole world about. He could jab and run and win over Alvarez, I couldn’t care less. He will never make big money in boxing.Posted July 11, 2014 2:10 am
Not sure about that. Don’t know many people who stopped to watch Pac fight like you say.Posted July 11, 2014 2:09 am
Sorry, but in the last 15 years, we all have to admit that nobody got us so excited about Boxing the way Pacquiao did. His early fights were so full of drama, controversy, his move up to challenge bigger fighters were awe inspiring. Loved him or hated him we all stopped to watch when he boxed. We’ll all miss Pacquiao when he retires, because for sure, not even Canelo can excite the whole world like Pacquiao did.Posted July 11, 2014 2:05 am
Hard fight to call but I think Canelo will walk Lara down Chavez sr style punches in bunches, intelligent aggressiveness and better defense than angulo.Canelo by late stoppage.Posted July 11, 2014 1:53 am
stuck in a moment — I don’t like the betting pattern. I don’t like it when a ton of late money comes in on one fighter. Too much like Klitschko-Brewster 1.
I watched the soccer (football) scandal unravel. Most of the players and officials who were approached were extremely receptive. They were scared to death of these murky underworld figures and threw games without batting an eyelash. One Italian player successfully drugged his whole team.
Gamblers destroyed a whole Asian league, nobody would bet on a game because they were all fixed. I see suspicious fights all the time — and the same judges who turned in weird cards before, working other extremely important fights. And referees who were suspended before working title fights with extreme favoritism.Posted July 11, 2014 1:42 am

Okay timeout let’s all be real here. The gig is up with boxtra because it’s pretty evident that there are many people posting up his name so therefore the embarrassment of him usually losing and scrambling for excuses is now gone
That said it’s also evident that the vast majority of the posters here cannot differentiate between the authentic boxtra and the many fakes. It’s clear to me personally that the one that picks Canelo by Cuban crushing TKO is the authentic poster.
So I say stop posting under his name and let’s all enjoy watching him constantly pick wrong again and slowly burn.
As for correctamundo and Accubox it is also evident they are the same as the authentic boxtradamus poster himself. This is truly pathetic and sad they have ones self create phony aliases to cheer themselves.
Onto Boxing I got agree with him on this one and take Canelo by TKO. This one might look a little bit like cotto bs abdullav except with Lara going out on a shield versus quittingPosted July 10, 2014 9:24 pm
I don’t think Canelo can walk through punches like angulo did to catch lara, but at the same time lara does not have the speed of Floyd, Lara is used to fighting guys like trout just like Canelo is used to fighting fighters angulo, well see how they do this tops Floyd vs maidana in my bookPosted July 10, 2014 9:08 pm

Gentlemen, having watched tapes of both Canelo Alvarez and Eryslandy Lara, I must say that this will be a tougher fight than I expected for Lara when Canelo applies pressure throughout the fight. I have previously posted that I believe Lara will win this fight, but I am now clearly taking CANELO ALVAREZ TO WIN THIS FIGHT STOPPAGE. Yes, my pick is CANELO ALVAREZ to win by stoppage. The reasoning for my change is because Lara will run out of gas. He does not like pressure and doesn’t fight very well inside. He also does not take a very good punch. Lara is a very good technical fighter, and it will show early, but as the fight goes on, Canelo will catch him with the left hook to both the body and head, and Canelo will land the right uppercut often. Canelo will win this fight is because he is fully motivated and has been on the big stage before. This is his time to win. He’s paid the price. Lara has somewhat got under his skin, but he has used it as motivation. Canelo is the younger, stronger more compact puncher, and I do expect him to land. I’ve watched the tapes, and you can take this bet to the bank if you want to because I am. Canelo Alvarez wins this fight by stoppage.Posted July 10, 2014 6:36 pm
Canelo will lose convincingly.Posted July 10, 2014 6:12 pm
Question??? If Oscar is the promotor, why the hell is everyone thanking Al Haymon??? What does he do? What does a boxing advisor does?Posted July 10, 2014 6:03 pm
Bottomline, if Lara fought Mayweather he would get dropped. Canelo on the other hand has not been knocked down. Lara will try and do what Trout was doing with Canelo. Trying to jab and fight on the outside but it wont work for him. Toe to toe battle again Canelo wins. Lara HAS WEAK LEGS. Thats the difference.Posted July 10, 2014 5:39 pm

why is this press conference not on showtime nowPosted July 10, 2014 4:04 pm
He had the ability to LEARN from the Salido fight.
You aren`t stupid SREDMOND, so even you must be able to see the nuances and context in performances.
When Calzaghe WINS vs Hopkins you are more than happy to talk about “old” Hopkins, it being close, not being prime, etc. You don`t simply take the definitive of Calzaghe beat Hopkins therefore Calzaghe=greater.
Lomachenko lost a close fight to Salido, in his second pro outing, to a guy who was going low all night AND didn`t even bother to make weight – which is an issue.
That’s not indicative of great failure or holes in someones game. There is certainly no boxer active that fought under such circumstances in their second pro bout, and really likely no boxer that would have won under such circumstances.
So rather than just tootle along your usual path of giving nobody any credit unless they are a multiweight champion, perhaps step back and compare where this guy is after 3 fights by where they were after 3 fights, and how much they have improved since then.
There is the potential there that this guy is very very special, and one of the very points and joys of being a boxing fan is to be excited about how that kind of incredible potential unfolds, rather than simply trying to pour cold water all over it all the time.
I mean – are you even a boxing fan? Don`t you ever get excited about prospects? Or is all this just a lever around which you can insult people like BEARS?Posted July 10, 2014 3:52 pm
