Mexican Corruption Destroying USA Boxing

Mexican Corruption is Destroying USA Boxing.. When you have A Corrupt Mexican Boxing Sanchioning body, A Corrupt Drug Addicted Mexican Boxing Promoter, A corrupt Mexican Judge giving the Bogus Win after Bogus wins to their Favorite Mexican Boxers you know it’s time for the USA to take a second look at our beloved Sport.. The Days of Boxing Fans respecting and appreciating the Sweet Science, the Sport where Hit and avoid getting hit ruled are being replaced by who is the toughest and can take the most punches to the Face contests, USA Boxing is becoming just a Tijuana Cantina Drunk Tough man Contest…

Gotta love all these Mexicans like (te Tumbo) now making the Case for why The Great Boriqua Tito Trinidad beat Delahoya like Canelo beat Lara who ran all night long like Delahoya.. Lara did not hurt or back up Canelo like DelaRunner vs Tito, Lara backpeddled all night long like Delahoya who Back peddled for 6 rounds and then Flat out Ran for the next 6 Rounds.. Yeap, Delahoya Clearly lost to Trinidad.. just like Lara Lost to Canelo.. Glad to see all these Mexicans especially Dumbo now see the light… Well, Lara’s Jabs did fk up Canelos Face pretty Baddly all night long while DelaRunner didn’t even give Tito a scratch.. LOL

I had it 117 – 111. Lara did not fight and when he did he threw baby punches, hell, a woman can hit much harder that Lara “The Coward”. One left by Alvarez did more damage than all of Lara’s punches put together…………Lara was running like a hell…………………he was afraid to fight…………….you have to land punches to win a fight………………….you could hear Alvarez’ body punches, but you could not hear Lara’s baby punches………..Lomachenko moved, but he also fought, he used lateral movement, the only thing Lara did was run, track & field. Lara deserved to lose, the only one fighting was Alvarez. I dare anyone to criticize Vladimir Klitschko for using his jab and knocking people out……………….

TARK

@Where is TARK the self proclaimed expert?

The fight played out pretty much like I expected… except that Lara didn’t follow up the hard shots he landed.. He landed some good punches and was off to the races.

Lara landed more and cleaner punches and I had him winning.. When the SD was announced I knew he lost..

He brought the wrong game plan.. He needed to back Canelo up at times.. When you land hard straight lefts you have to follow up with more rght hooks.. You can’t step out and zoom around the ring to show how fast you are.

Nothing Funnier then listening to these Mexicans claim Lara lost because he Ran all night long, Didn’t want to fight Canelo, just Jabbed and did nothing to Canelo so obviously Canelo won!!!!! they’re also clearly admitting and making the case for why Tito Trinidad clearly beat DelaRunner because Oscar Ran all night long, didn’t come to fight, did nothing to Trinidad as he back peddled using an inneffective Jab for the first 6 rounds then Flat out Ran for his Life… got to love it.. Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Why Saul Alvarez won the fight:

1) Lara only landed 10 more punches total (jabs) over 12 rounds.
2) Canelo landed about 30 more power punches throughout the fight.
3) CA landed the much harder, more effective and consequential punches.
4) CA clearly landed the BEST shot, which was a powerful uppercut that ripped open a deep cut over Lara’s eye.
5) CA visibly hurt Lara to both the head and body; Lara never once hurt Canelo.
6) CA was the attacker and effective aggressor, constantly stalking and pressing the action.
7) CA was also the ring general as he totally controlled the center of the ring, the pace of the fight, created and forced the action, making it a fight instead of a game of “tag, you’re it.”
8) Lara ran and backpeddled for 12 rounds and wasn’t willing to exchange for the majority of the fight. His counterpunching was defensive in nature and he was only interesting in surviving — not fighting.

Sorry, but if you scored the bout for Lara you scored it like an amateur match and don’t really understand the difference between pro scoring and amateur scoring. If it were an amateur fight, Lara probably would’ve won because he landed about 10 more shots in total — which is less than one more punch per round. Pro boxing is all about who scores the HARDER, MORE EFFECTIVE, CONSEQUENTIAL punches. Canelo did just that and that, gentlemen, is precisely why he won the fight. Any questions???

BEARS my friend, I’m not a fan of runners either, but you have to give Lara more credit. He fought a very good fight landing clean effective punches throughout the fight. Canelo’s head was bouncing all over the place. He was desperate on more than a few occasions as he swung for the fences and missed by a mile. Sure he landed some good body shots, but they were in no way enough to win him the fight. Lara faced looked like he just came out of a modeling shoot. He was rarely touched throughout the 12 rounds. The Canelo crowd while cheering for Canelo and booing Lara obviously made a big impression on those judges, especially the blind drunk one that had it 111-117 for Canelo. And of course Lara could have and should have thrown a bit more, but that was part of his defense, and defense counts in scoring a fight. It’s up to Canelo to come up with a strategy to stop Lara, and he couldn’t. Lara shouldn’t be penalized for doing what many other boxers do like Floyd Mayweather. The criteria for judging and the judges themselves have to be on the same page. You cannot have one judge liking the puncher style more than the boxing style because it’s a bias and he’s going to score it for the puncher instead of going by the criteria he has been given to score a fight with. Something has to be done. Just look at the scoring criteria: Clean Punching, Effective Aggressiveness, Ring Generalship and defense. If a judge has knowledge and understanding of this criteria, there is no way possible Canelo won that fight. And like I said, I like Canelo, and think he has a great future, but he lost last night.

TUMBO Carnal, what I was trying to say is that Lara had to do MORE to win, not just what he actually did. He had to take MORE chances. Stayed in the pocket/mid ring a bit MORE. I’m trying to make it. Had he done some of the I mentioned his chances would’ve been better without assuming that he would’ve gotten hurt/kayo’d had he done so. I’m not saying that he won, I’m saying that his corner seemed to be lacking in overall strategy for him to win, thus the slim win for Canelo. Paz Carnal!

Posted July 13, 2014 5:15 pm

te tumbo

EZ E, personally I can’t imagine that Lara won that fight. his intention of avoiding the actual competition v. Canelo was blatant and egregious. he refused to take risks. he refused to engage. it wasn’t sweet. it wasn’t science. in pro boxing, people pay to watch a Fight. Lara’s blatant disregard for this cardinal rule of he business could not be rewarded. at least not by the people who pay to organize and watch these bouts. fight-fans win when fighters learn to accommodate this priority of the sport. we only lose when runners like Lara are allowed to hijack the sport with their own $elfish agenda that relegates Fighting to the margins.

listen, we all know what would’ve happened if Lara did choose to regularly engage Canelo and fear of losing can’t become the favorable(?) tie-breaker in these situations. consequently, the superior fighter won. the pure boxer is I the wrong business . . . Peace to EZ E.

Personally, I didn’t think Lara lost the fight, his corner/Shields did. The KNEW darn well WHERE the fight was taking place. They KNEW that a “Cash Cow” will soon be needed by Las Vegas to replace Floyd and the young Canelo kind’s fits the bill for now until another more popular figure emerges. Lara DOESN’T fit THAT bill even if he would’ve officially WON. They should’ve KNOWN and considered the ‘crowd factor” and the influence it can make but seemed to overlook it completely. They SHOULD’VE instructed Lara to stop, set down and loaded up on the on-coming Canelo MORE often, but didn’t. I would have if he were my fighter. I would’ve told him to not as run as much, keep it a LITTLE bit more in the center of the ring. That ‘LITTLE BIT” more could’ve/ made a BIG difference! But they didn’t. Lara didn’t lose as much as he GAVE the fight away with the “help” of his corner. He might’ve done enough to win BUT…. they blew it. Could’ve the fight been called a draw an acceptable draw? hmmm.. Yeah, I guess I can agree to that to. Is it fact that a Canelo win is better for business for boxing? Of course, no sense in denying that point. We can go on all day with this but going back, Lara might’ve fought good enough to win in the minds of many but ultimately LOST with A LOT of help of his “friends”. Peace to all!

@V8MACH1 Fine acceptable points worthy to be considered. It was a close fight. The scoring criteria of judges vary, as we all know. They, like us, have their individual preferences, as we all know and have seen. Close and/or controversial verdicts have been around forever and will continue no matter what scoring criteria is implemented. I’m sure we can agree that there was no ‘robbery’. No, I didn’t agree with the Levi Martinez score card, but then again many didn’t agree with the judge that had Lara in front. I accepted the SD for Canelo and would’ve probably accepted an SD for Lara. Many predicted/expected a decision with controversy and… got it! No, there won’t be a rematch. Canelo and GBP will capitalize on his victory, without a doubt. Peace to V8, peace to all.

Public Enemy: EZ-E = Te Tumbo. The PR version. Lara won for out-boxing Canelo. However, Canelo looked flashier and all eyes were on him to do any movement. No matter how insignificant, it still counted for his adoring fans. The blind judges like the fans, don’t know boxing from brawling style. The pure boxers are not as popular as the come-forward, robotic, punchers like Canelo.

ODH in my eyes beat TITO , yes TITO pressed forward with great intent in the later rounds, but ODH had it in the bag, now as TITO pressed ODH picked him off from his back foot time n time again, so yes points lost for not pressing the fight ,BUT many points made back up , off effective cleaner hitting , Gold medal for best runner in a ring goes to Stipe Dews vs Danny Green.

Sugar Ray Leonard(And this is by no way a dig at the legend) is revered and immortalized for his ability to get on his bike during fights , Hagler vs SRL ,SRL is fleet of foot and using the ring provided, masterstroke!!!! ODH employs similar tactics vs TITO, and is crucified for it, by the judges present, and fightfans alike, now i love seeing two guys plant there feet and swing for the fences, but the rules allow a square ring of set diminsions, of to which your allowed to use every bit of, if your incapable of effectivly out pointing? hitting? catching elusive foe , then he has, the way i see it, won 50% of the fight

“Anyway, I’m going with Canelo by decision, with NO “But IFs” “What IF Lara does this” or “Canelo that” FLIP FLOPPING excuses. Only a judges ‘robbery’ argument will be considered. And… I’m Puerto Rican but I believe that both Juanma and Oquendo were added to the card to lose and… both will, but I will be rooting for them nonetheless.”

Lara’s cynical display of a total lack of fighting-spirit should finally put an end to the “expert” coddling and professional punditry on his behalf. the contrast between Lara’s shameless agenda of $elf-preservation and Canelo’s assertions of dedication to the sport on behalf of its fans was glaringly apparent last night. Lara backpedaled like somebody saving himself for “Money”. Canelo performed like a professional Fighter eager to display his fighting ability. once again, i’m glad that Lara’s disgraceful display wasn’t validated by the scorecards.

D-M@c

After the Angulo fight ppl was saying how good Canelo looked but this time I don’t hear anyone saying that. And it’s because Lara ISN’T Angulo, so Canelo didn’t look good. Canelo, like Pacquaio, needs boxers to stand in front of them for them to look good. This is limited boxing at best. But overrated & inexperienced trainers are partly the blame because far too many of them have their fighters ONLY work on what they do best, INSTEAD of a more well-rounded approach in training & development;

Pacquaio is a so-called “KO” fighter so Roach has him working on power mostly…..but never on cutting off the ring or defense or body or fighting going backwards.

Canelo throws alot of body shots so his trainer has him mostly working on 3-4 punch combos ending at the lower body mid area….but never on good head movement or not to over-commit on head shots.

I do believe Lara is partly the blame for his loss because he should’ve known that he had the burden of fighting a popular champion. He should’ve known that you can’t “beat” a champion, you have “beat up” a champion, and that didn’t happen. But at the same time, the Canelo hype is more about him being a mexican than anything else. If you really break down his fight game and style, you’ll see he’s a very average fighter with above average popularity.

But just like everything else in life, the search for the new best thing is what drives hype. Everyone’s always searching for the next “it”, whether it’s technology, sports, tv, movies, etc.

CONGRATS TO FLOYD MONEY MAYWEATHER FOR BEING THE MOST COMPLETE BOXER OF ALL-TIME!

So for al you boxing exsperts . was Alí running from foreman or did he outbox him.

Not a good example JACK JONES… Ali spent the entire Foreman fight getting a shellacking on the ropes, using the rope-a-dope method… It was far too hit in Zaire for anyone to run!!! Foreman through everything, including the kitchen sink at Ali, sapped his own strength and Ali seeing this jumped on him and took him out….I think George was more exhausted than hurt.

I would actually say Ali outlasted Foreman in this night in Zaire…. There may be other, better examples of Ali ‘running,’ but not this one!

I mean this is the same guy who picked Donaire over Rigondeaux, but when Rigondeaux won he claimed he was still right because Rigondeaux did what Boxtra$$wipe said he needed to do to win the fight. Well WTF?

LMAO! I remember the days when Boxtra$$wipe always gave himself multiple-choice predictions so he was guaranteed a win. Example: “Mayweather by overwhelming UD or late stoppage.”

Floyd throws around 35 to 40 punches a round. Lara probably throws less than that. That is actually one fight I would not look forward to

Love-the-Sport

Good fight — not a great fight.

Alvarez proved he is a very good fighter — not a great fighter.

Lara was sticking with a good 1-2 and moving.

Alvarez did what a very good fighter would do … he went to Lara’s body, slowed down the movement, and he won rounds.

Lara did not do what he was supposed to do. Lara did not go to Alvarez body, Alvarez was tired but he was not gassed as he has been in previous fights where he literally takes rounds off.

So, Alvarez showed improvement as a boxer and an athlete. Right now, Alvarez is a very good fighter — NOT A GREAT FIGHTER.

Great fighter would have cut off the ring better against Lara. (Angulo is not a great fighter but he did a better job cutting of the ring than Alvarez.) Great fighter would have used combinations to go the body and head (Again, Angulo did a better job than Alvarez). Great fighter would have actually hurt Lara. Inspite of the cut, I don’t think Lara was really in danger or wobbled or hurt.

In summary, good fight. Alvarez did win the fight (I had it 115-113) but Alvarez has more to learn. This is actually good news because maybe Alvarez will get even better against Cotto and Golovkin.

Bad Lefthook Great right on comment!! despite the bit of controversy I don’t see a rematch happening.

I did score the fight for lara. I fekt he won 7 rounds to 5, but some of the rounds I gave to Lara could’ve gone either way, but I am from the opinion that if you are the challenger you need to take it to the champion and actually take his belt from him. That is why although I did score the fight fpr Lara, in my heart I felt that he did nkt deserve to win. Shame cause I actually picked him to win by unanimous decision based on his performances against Angulo and Trout.

Posted July 13, 2014 5:09 am

Javielito

Lara did not deserve to win with all that running and potshoting, but I’m sorry. When you have a score of 117-111 in a close fight it tells me that the fix was in from the get go. Boxing deserves better than this.

Bad Lefthook

The scores are going to be debated, the winner will be debated. Canelo Alvarez took a split decision win over Erislandy Lara tonight on Showtime PPV.

Canelo Alvarez got the duke tonight over Erislandy Lara, but there’s some controversy, as is often the case, though at least this time, it appeared there was a solid argument for either man to win. Official scores were 115-113 and 117-111 for Canelo, and 115-113 for Lara. BLH had it 115-113 for Lara, while Showtime’s Steve Farhood had 115-113 for Lara, as well.

The fight saw several rounds that could have been called swing rounds, as I personally had at least five rounds of the 12 that I felt could have gone either way. I shaded toward Lara, who landed some crisp shots, but absolutely did “run” for much of the fight, while Canelo landed a lot of solid body shots along the way.

Neither Canelo (43-1-1, 31 KO) nor Lara (19-2-2, 12 KO) were particularly effective on offense, as Canelo swung and missed badly several times, while Lara sort of laid back more than you’d like to see. It’s arguable that the fight was “stolen” from Lara. It’s also arguable that Lara gave the fight away by not being more proactive.

Both fighters said they believed they’d won the fight when asked the hard-hitting question, “Do you think you won the fight?” by Showtime’s investigative journalist Jim Gray. Lara said he felt he controlled the fight and made Canelo look bad. Before that, Canelo said he’d give Lara a rematch “when he learns to fight,” saying that fights in the pro game in America are not won with running, and that he didn’t let his hands go enough. Canelo did say, though, that he respected Lara. Lara added that Canelo’s body shots had “no force,” though they did connect.

This is certainly going to be debated in the coming days, so how did you score it?

Posted July 13, 2014 4:43 am

Bill Patrice Jones

Canelo’s greatest asset is his freakish almost super human size and strength for someone in his weight division. Lara was definately wary in this fight after a few rounds. It was a very close scorecard but you knew the decision was going only one way. You’re not going to get a decision over a Mexican star like Alvarez in Las Vegas fighting a defensive fight. Lara didn’t even get the decision when he pounded the living daylights out of Paul Williiams for 12 out of 12 rounds. Wanted Lara to win, he should have taken more chances in the final rounds

Lara did not make Canelo pay enough for the body punches he took. Lara did well and so did Canelo. But Canelo was the constant aggressor, and land the better punches while Lara back peddled and landed the less solid blows. However, the fight was close, and depending on you’re view it could have gone either way if you ignored most effective shots landed.
Posted July 13, 2014 1:12 am

True TC though did Canelo do enough in you’re opinion ? A lot of those body shots were caught on Lara’s arms . All the running didnt help Lara at all , I still feel Canelo could do a lot more to cut off and make the other guy pay , though he does not have that killer instinct that is needed imo .

No rematch please. People would rather pay to see Canelo with another banger. No one is interested in seeing Canelo get beat by a defensive fighter. So what if he gets beat by runners. Big deal. Lare won 117-111 — but I still didn’t think he did enough to get the decision.

You’ve got to beat Canelo worse than that if you’re a Cuban. Bottom line

Ronnie Shields should have been screaming at Lara, “These judges aren’t going to give this to you unless you beat his fukkin head in. You’re not doing enough. Start beating the living crap out of this kid. He’s wide open and you’re not throwing.”

Rigondeaux gave Donaire a damned good beating… and that’s the difference.. I think Lomachenko knew what you have to do by the time he fought Russell.. He had to completely dominate to get an MD.. He learned a lesson from the Salido fight.

I agree with the score of 117 – 111 for Alvarez. All Lara did was run around the ring, did not throw many punches at all. Alvarez landed a nice uppercut that cut Lara, he hurt Lara with body shots. Alvarez came to fight and he did. Lara ran like hell as he did not bother to fight. I guess Lara thought this was track & field…………

Note: I did not post too fast, this was my first post tonight, so that message does not make any sense. This problem should be fixed ASAP………….

In my scorecard, Canelo won. 115-113.

Posted July 13, 2014 1:16 am

Kato3388

Ring generalship shouldn’t automatically favor the runner. I thought Canelo pressed the action the entire fight but when Lara made him miss, he didn’t follow up with anything. Canelo won this one hands down and the score of 117-111 is very plausible. Canelo showed he came to fight and Lara came to talk and run.

Posted July 13, 2014 1:15 am

BOXING ART

Canelo is too much a star. If fight is close, Lara will never win. Maybe rrematch. or Cotto vs. Canelo maybe. Lara excellent boxer. He outboxed Williams but didn’t get the win. Same now.

Posted July 13, 2014 1:14 am

Tomato Can

Lara did not make Canelo pay enough for the body punches he took. Lara did well and so did Canelo. But Canelo was the constant aggressor, and land the better punches while Lara back peddled and landed the less solid blows. However, the fight was close, and depending on you’re view it could have gone either way if you ignored most effective shots landed.

Posted July 13, 2014 1:12 am

Lara controlled ring generalship, clean punching and defense. Canelo fought more than well enough to keep his marketability though.

Another fight once again proves Mayweather’s greatness, without Mayweather himself stepping into the ring. People try so hard to discredit the man’s wins. But it’s getting harder and harder now.

Posted July 13, 2014 1:02 am

Hecdog

I picked Canelo, but honestly, I thought Lara won. Yes he was moving, but he was landing clean shots even though they weren’t a lot of them. It really depends on what the judges like. And as I have said all along, the up and coming cash cow that has a big fans base and is young and coming into his prime will never lose one of those big fights. Although Canelo doesn’t live in Vegas, it’s his second home, and his fan base follows him anywhere. Oscar and GBP have a lot of pull. I wish these fights were at other venues. Canelo’s body shots were great, but at times Lara had him missing by miles. His ring generalship was outstanding. Lara was fantastic and deserves a rematch or a Mayweather fight. I’ll take the credit for picking the right guy that got the win, but IMO, he lost.

I can appreciate a boxer who uses movement to set up his punches. However Lara was running for large stretches in this fight. If this was a amateur fight with amateur scoring than maybe the outcome would have been different. However under any professional method of scoring Canelo Alvarez wins this fight. Period. I think alot of people have alot of hope for Lara, and alot of people for whatever reason seem to hat on Canelo

HatersBeWare

The fix was definitely in this evening. Golden Boy home cooking for its fighter. Alverez was definitely exposed as a slow footed ploder. I believe Pacman with his speed would beat Canelo. They should set that up. Lara was not impressive either, he should have stood toe to toe and used his superior hand speed and combinations. But he did not all he did was run, so take the loss and take your a$$ back to Cuba.

Canelo did not do enough to warrant a rematch with Maywether. Maywether is far better than both of these fighters.

Posted July 13, 2014 12:57 am

Q

Not surprised by Canelo winning, I had it 7-5 Lara for his head shots, but Canelo could have won those rounds because of his strength and aggression, Canelo is a fantastic 155 pound champion. I would have liked a draw, but he wasn’t that active. Needs to be a rematch.

Sounds like Lara is just a runner in tough fights, doesn’t have the balls to pull it out in tough fights and runs. Good job alvarez. Bad job lara, you should take up marathon running lara cause it seems thats all you want to do in big fights. Guess lara is comfortable being on the losing end of big decisions. To bad lara isn’t all he was hiped up to be.

I don’t care who wins tonight, I just hope if Lara loses he’s not forgotten cause he’s a talented fighter; in fact so talented he deserves a huge win like tonight would bring.

Posted July 12, 2014 11:29 pm

Q

Mares 9-1 Oquendo (relatively tough sparring session for Mares, fans aren’t gonna have loved this)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:29 pm

Q

Mares 7-1 Oquendo (Close-ish round… Mares looks a tad tired, but he’s landing more and boxing better)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:25 pm

HatersBeWare

Lara has gotten into Canelo’s head. Canelo is going to come out very tight due to his anger. Lara will dance and box early, hitting canelo with jab after jab. Canel will become frustrated due to the fact that he is unable to connect on Lara. Canelo’s corner will show how worthless they are by not having an affective Plan B. Canelo will gas due to fatigue around round 6-7- Late Round TKO for Lara. This Prediction is as good as gold.

Posted July 12, 2014 11:25 pm

So u think DLH is nut given Ricans a fair shot to succeed?

Q

Mares 6-1 Oquendo (Mares is boxing well, he landed a really good left hook at the end of the round. Too much looking at certain points, Mares needs to work that jab.)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:21 pm

srminimo

Why- because Golden Boy only wants PR fighters in their cards to sell the “Mex vs PR rivalry” but the Rican is always a heavy underdog. Oquendo was kO’d by Juanma and Vazquez jr. He’s only there as a stepping stone for Mares, as was Juanma before. That’s why Golden Boy doesn’t have a single Puerto Rican prospect. The one exception is Danny Garcia because he’s from Philly, where BHop is from. And they’ve tried to feed him to the lions twice… Only he ate the lions.

Q

Mares 5-1 Oquendo (Mares is boxing very well, he was hit with a nice uppercut at the end of the round… but he’s pretty much giving this guy a boxing lesson. Mares should throw a bit more punches now)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:12 pm

Q

Mares 3-1 Oquendo (It was definitely a headbutt after seeing the replay… I’ll give that round to Oquendo… it was very close though. Mares looks very small and not that strong at this weight.)

Mares cut, headbutt according to ref…. Oquendo got in a couple of good uppercuts…. mares just circled into a left hook… he looks a bit rattled now after the cut

Posted July 12, 2014 11:07 pm

srminimo

If you’re a Rican fighter, just about the stupidest thing you can do is fight for DLH.

Posted July 12, 2014 11:07 pm

Q

Mares 3-0 Oquendo (Mares is boxing very well. Oquendo looks strong but he’s missing a lot and loading up. Mares isn’t fighting a very exciting fight for many I guess, but he’s effective, I like it. Could attack a bit more)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:04 pm

Too broke for ppv

Anyone have a good link for the live stream?

Posted July 12, 2014 11:02 pm

Q

mares 2-0 Oquendo (Mares boxed and countered very well, looked smooth, and is making Oquendo miss badly. looked much better that 2nd round)

Posted July 12, 2014 11:00 pm

Q

mares 1-0 oquendo (Mares is moving a lot, and he’s moving too far away… which doesn’t help him counter because he’s not really in counter range. I’ll give it to Mares. Nice footwork, but he needs to be more active. nice body shots from Mares, but he needs to attack more.)

Posted July 12, 2014 10:56 pm

Lopez should keep going . There are plenty of foods that need no chewing on the market selves .

Posted July 12, 2014 10:52 pm

I don’t think Mare’s is overly hyped. He had a very good run. Tonight, he’s facing a bigger stronger but probably less talented fighter, in Oquindo.

It’s not Lopez chin that’s the problem it’s that he leaves himself open to some of the most brutal clean shots ever seen in the middle of exchanges. Either way much to respect to lopez true warrior.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:47 pm

Q

The formerly overrated Abner Mares is back in the ring tonight. Let’s see how it goes.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:47 pm

Q

These UK guys are ridiculous… I hate watching a stream with them, they just have ridiculous accents and make extremely moronic statements literally non stop….. It’s mind-boggling. Funny how they were talking about Abner Mares fighting under Mayweathers card… they didn’t know who… so the guy was like, “doesn’t matter… Alvarez” and another said “Guerrero” lol. That was funny enough.

Lara has to be perfect to win, Canelo doesn’t…

Posted July 12, 2014 10:45 pm

Tomato Can

Lol, they use to call Canelo cheese head…

Posted July 12, 2014 10:44 pm

big head

i got canelo winning tonight even know he will have problems with lara style and footwork but canelo is better at mixing it up tho throwing combinations and variety of punches going to lara body going to be the key for canelo to slow that movement down i think lara going to feel the power of canelo and the strenght canelo seem to have the better chin he seem more durable only concern with canelo is his stamina of course but i think the shots of canelo going to move lara even if lara is blocking it he still going to feel the impact nd it going to sway the judges way canelo got good timing i think his speed will surprised lara and somtimes lara usually leans in when he throws his left canelo can counter that with the left hook i think canelo will win by ud

Posted July 12, 2014 10:42 pm

Honestly

Canelo is decent looking, he just has nice hair. Carl Frampton is a very good looking guy.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:39 pm

Tomato Can

Lopez should think of retirement. He can still beat a lot of fighters out there, but he’ll get koed by any top fighters with a punch.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:36 pm

Q

All these men have is boxing. He’s not going to retire I don’t think.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:36 pm

LoL, Lopez has a chin the size of Jay Leno’s, but it has the strength of a paper mache.

I feel bad for Juanma..I said he lived to die another day against Ponce and almost got killed tonight..

I love Lopez’s heart, I don’t like his smarts though…. He was beaten from the second round on… He looked old.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:30 pm

Q

Lopez 0-3 Vargas (Lopez out on his feet in this round… gets knocked down… is losing in the exchanges, losing on the outside, falling all over the place, and is looking bad. This fight should be over soon)

Posted July 12, 2014 10:29 pm

Hey, That’s My Bike!!!

Lop 0-3 Var – Lopez looking to rush in but cant get off. Vargas defending well and countering. Vargas landing the cleaner shots in the exchanges. Lopez swinging for the fences. Non-stop action YEAH!!! Vargas punches Lopez onto the ropes. Lopez down after a barrage. Punched himself out almost. Dominant round for clean work by Vargas. 10-8.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:29 pm

The Prince

Lopez just doesn’t learn.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:28 pm

Q

Lopez 0-2 Vargas (very good left hand work for Vargas, he’s still controlling the distance, landing good jabs and hooks, also nice body shots. Lopez will need to land something nice and close the distance. Vargas looks good.)

Posted July 12, 2014 10:25 pm

Hey, That’s My Bike!!!

Lop 0-2 Var – Vargas fighting very calculating. Lopez isn’t doing much more than jabbing. Vargas pressuring Lopez on the ropes.

Lopez isn’t going to make it through 12 tonight.

Posted July 12, 2014 10:23 pm

Q

Lopez 0-1 Vargas (I entered late, but Vargas seemed to control the distance better and land more shots, and good shots. Relatively quiet round.)

Posted July 12, 2014 10:21 pm

Hey, That’s My Bike!!!

Lop 0-1 Var – Vargas had more intent in a slow cautious first round.
