Also… Jennings was 95% clean.. No hard shots caught him.

“Tark, really, you can’t argue with a video. Just watch it.”

I did. I didn’t see a clean face for Geale.. GGG was clean.

Geale wasn’t messed UP. He was beaten into submission though.

Come on… They only fought less then 3 rounds.. He was messed up for 3 rounds.. He got KO’d so he wasn’t going to get beaten up all night long. He looked messed up for the amount of time he was in there.

Floyd looked more messed up after Cotto and Maidana though.

Posted July 29, 2014 3:51 am

hibdeebibdee

Excuse me–the bruising was under his left eye. May have been around it as well. But it wasn’t much. Geale looked pretty good at the post-fight presser.

Posted July 28, 2014 7:09 pm

hibdeebibdee

“Same with Golovkin-Geale… GGG was clean… Geale messed up.”

Wrong. See Geale in post-fight press conference. A little bruising under his right eye and that was it.

There’s no Fkn way DelaDruggie and Cinnabums people will let him anywhere near GGG even at 154lbs.. GingerBuns will have to continue fighting 140lb’ers or shot 147lb’ers… Canelo would get knockedafkoutCold… and Canelos people know it…

Same with Golovkin-Geale… GGG was clean… Geale messed up.

LikeISeeIt.., “Golovkin will probably be avoided at least until he builds up a bigger following.”

He sold out MSG fighting a guy few have ever heard of… He has a huge following because he’s a smashing hitter who comes along once in 2 generations — and he can also box people’s asses off. He didn’t look like he was in a fight.

Floyd looked like he was in a fight after his Cotto and Maidana fights.

Cotto gets outboxed and outpunched with ease by GGG.

Cotto is not a coward he will fight ggg
He fought everyone Mosley , margarito ,PAC , mayweather , Martinez …. But agsinst ggg he will get seriously hurt !

GGG beats Cotto and Canelo on the same night. Seriously, both of those fighters get destroyed. GGG is 3 levels above both those guys.

Tark – Yes, both fighters are hittable. If they ever fight, I’m not sure who would win. However, I think it’s a fight that fight fans would like to see. Being that Cotto is an elite fighter, unlike everyone else Golovkin has fought, I feel he would do much better than the others. Unfortunately, I think Cotto is going to fight Alvarez next. Golovkin will probably be avoided at least until he builds up a bigger following.

Boxtradummy You didn’t say the 3rd round, maybe it was one of “your jesters” that did, you flip flopping mfkr. And NO, you mother aint making you jack sht, she abandoned you years ago, remember? You were playing with your Rock’em Sock’em Robots and had on your dork propeller hat, Lone Ranger mask, dirty Superman t-shirt, soiled Green Lantern ballet tights, a damp smelly towel/Bat cape tied around your unwashed neck, over-sized muddy Aquaman flippers, a long shinny greenish yellow snot running down to your lip and seeping into your mouth, saliva and crumbs all over your chin… Her final words being, “Don’t worry, Mommy will be right back. Don’t forget, you’ll always be Mommy’s little idiot.” She ran out, hopped on the back of a Hells Angel’s Harley and… it was all about granny basement ever since you leaching SOB!! For your first PREDICTION you told everyone at school that she would return and you were WRONG!! But at least you have us, your ESB family, us and granny are all you have, for better or… for WORSE!! Lord help us!

Daz, the fact that Geale may have made 2 mill in the past (figure in all the expenses and he winds up with a fraction of that) has absolutely NO BEARING on whether he quit or not against GGG. Additionally, I didn’t see the conference but I would assume that he stated whatever he had to, to save face. Being a quitter doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s an idiot. We can agree to disagree…peace!

We need to call out Cotto to fight Golovkin. If he hesitates and comes up with answers like “you’ll have to talk to my promoter”, or, “there are contractual problems”, or, “right now, my family is top priority”, then we’ll know he’s scared.

LikeISeeIt.., “Golovkin is hittable and Geale did land a few left hooks… Cotto’s is much more powerful and faster… that would be an interesting fight to see.”

It would be interesting for about 5 rounds… when Cotto would bite the canvas..

Cotto is a lot more hittable than Golovkin.. Everyone gets hit, but Geale never landed a threatening punch on GGG… Austin Trout lit Cotto up like a Christmas Tree.

Posted July 27, 2014 4:16 pm

Listen to what Geale said at the press conference EL Chapo, Geale didn’t quit. He was shaking his head in disappointment of getting dropped and the Ref understandably took it as he didn’t wish to continue. A poor choice on how to show your disappointment. BTW Geale made a $2 million purse again Anthony Mundine a while back so he wasn’t there just for the payday.

Cotto would get smashed to bits by Golovkin. He hunts fighters down with fast footwork, he would trap Cotto on the ropes or in the corner and then it would be all over with one big punch. Cotto wouldn’t last 3 rounds. Neither would that slow footed Ginger, Canelo. He’d lose even faster than Cotto.

Posted July 27, 2014 2:00 pm

LikeISeeIt

Golovkin did what he had to do with a limited fighter who was not anywhere as good as some of Golovkin’s previous victims. Most people knew Geale did not have a chance. However, it’s time for the other beltholders to face Golovkin. The only beltholder who has a shot is Cotto. Cotto is a big puncher and an elite fighter. Quillin was being walked down by Rosado who had previously lost to Golovkin. Soliman would probably last longer than Geale but he’s not elite and doesn’t have the punching power necessary to stop Golovkin. Golovkin is hittable and Geale did land a few left hooks… Cotto’s is much more powerful and faster… that would be an interesting fight to see. Unfortunately, Cotto will probably end up facing Alvarez for a big money fight and it might even be at 160.

GGG is, indeed, great but Geale is a quitter. He shook his head at the ref – letting him know that he was happy with his paycheck and was ready to call it a night. Too bad for GGG that he wasn’t allowed to finish him in spectacular fashion. I’d like to see GGG and Ward or Chavez JR. Both Canelo and Cotto are natural jr middles and don’t need to be in their with a bonafide beast at 160. GGG isn’t in the position to call the shots against Cotto or Canelo, but he would be the ‘A’ side against Ward and more equal to Jr in marketing terms.

GGG is a legend. He’s one of those elite fighters that has the physical and mental toughness to beat everyone. His pressure is unrelenting, and if he hits you, you’re going out. I think he’s still growing and developing, and the best GGG is yet to come. You can bring on Ward, Quillin, Canelo and the rest of them. GGG has started his reign as king of boxing. He is dominating the sport. The only other fighter to have done something like this in a more destructive and exciting manner is the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

It is not EASY being as gifted as I am. I am severely hung over from celebrating my PERFECT picks for last night. Geale was out in round 3 exactly as I predicted. I now predict this dreadful headache will go away within two hours. Luckily mom is cooking me some bacon and eggs which I will enjoy along with some Aspirin. More great picks ahead so be PREPARED! I am the greatest fight PROPHET ever born!!!!!

Perez intentially head butted Jennings and deserved the one point deduction without a warning. Both fighters were dreadful but Jennings was a little les dreadfuller if there is such a word.Says a lot about the quality of fighters in the heavies if these two are among the best. GGG is a fighter’s fighter. He would destroy Cotto.

Interesting, I just listened to Geale’s comments at the post fight press conference. He didn’t quit, he was shaking his head with disappointment in getting caught and the referee thought he was saying he didn’t want to continue. The stoppage was a blessing in disguise as, Golovkin was outboxing Geale (Daniel comlimented GGG’s jab during the post fight press conference) you with power and it was only a matter of time before he was caught again. Geale could have really been hurt had he continued.

Geale is a pretty good boxer and a former titlist who had never been stopped. GGG shredded him like paper in 3. But we need unification now that cherrypicking ducker Martinez is out of the picture. If Cotto, Quillin or Soliman step up they’ll all get put to sleep and they know it. So, the circular question of what happens when GGG faces the top guys will continue until they stop ducking.

Posted July 27, 2014 5:02 am

Mass Hysteria

GGG is a hype job who just happened to have come along in the weakest MW division in the history of the sport .

Mass Hysteria

GGG only has power no real skill and that power is questionable geale just seemed to quit to me. They need to check ggg for steroid usage also, russian athletes were known steroid abusers they have been doing it so long that they have mastered it and know how to avoid detection. Russia has a history of feeding their athletes steroids.

GGG vs Cotto would be a great match to watch.

Geale was arguably undefeated.. He lost only 2 fights previously, and both by SD. He definitely put Barker down for a 9-count and scored with the harder and more effective punches in their fight.

great, taking a massive right hand and giving one back to finish the guy, rarely see that, cotto step it up or you can be called a coward

Mr Gav

I wouldn’t say the middle weight division is poor just none of the big names will face GGG ( or there promotors won’t allow it) the best fights will be qulin, cotto Murray and when he’s knocked them out maybe a few others will turn up. But moving up to super middle would be great also

Posted July 27, 2014 4:04 am

But But But . . . GGG won in style; no confusion. Geale made a deal, showed up and gave it his best. Congrats to GGG.

Next up will be Sam Soliman
Who lovely bloke that he is, will be wiped out in two rounds or less
Soliman has got to be nearly 40 years old with about 10 losses

This one does not have a happy Holywood ending

DJ Daz

I’m a big Geale fan and I think Geale is a quality fighter but GGG was outboxing him and landing more jabs from the first round. Geale didn’t fight as a scared fighter, he willingly took the fight to Golovkin whilst trying to wisely move away from counter shot. Geale landed some decent shots but GGG absorbed them like they were nothing. The difference here was that Golovkin has underated boxing skills, a very good chin and excellent power. Geale is a much better fighter than Macklin & other recent opponents and Golovkin stopped him with a punch that didn’t look to be nowhere near his best shot. Golovkin is VERY impressive, this was a good win over a quality opponent.

Another great win for GGG. As I have said a dozen times, he should unify at MW. I hope the other mw “champs” stop running from him. Anybody who wants to fight him has to make 160 lbs, and the fight would be on. GGG will move on to 168 lbs, but first things first: unify at mw, everything else can and has to wait.

Posted July 27, 2014 3:50 am

Geale had previously unified two belts and had only ever lost two fights, both by split decision. Triple G destroyed him!

And that trainer of Mike Perez is a little clown, he said the same sentence for 12 rounds without any effect, “when you go inside you should the first to hit, do you understand?”, that joke can only train a powerful puncher against a poor journeyman, false boxing trainer at the high level

Golovkin is probably the best thing to happen in boxing since Roy Jones Jr., Triple G has everything even the greatest fighting looking style, STRAIGHT for the KO with class!

boxing barlow can’t say I agree. There’s an historical value to drawing a line in the sand and claiming one division. That’s what Ward has done at 168 and Hopkins did before at 160. Only reason GGG has considered 154 or 168 is the other belt holders at 160 are ducking him. Eventually he’ll be the money fighter at 160 and they’ll reluctantly try to unify or be shamed into irrelevance.

Golovkin did not land a punch behind Geale’s heard, the punch landed on Geale’s ear………………….that should be cleared up, the video does not lie. Golovkin is awesome. Golovkin wants to fight Cotto next, but Roach will never allow Cotto to come near Golovkin. Roach was at the fight ringside……………there have been talks with Soliman for a unification fight.

Jennings/Perez was boring as Hell, neither one would have a chance against Klitschko…………………….Jennings’ referee took a point away from Perez so as to make sure he won the fight…………….

Calm down people who has GGG beat with this monster tag, why cant we wait until he fight real fighters. I am not on his bandwagon yet, he looks good though I must admit, so did many fighters that had knock out on cab drivers.

valiant effort by geale. I can’t imagine how shattering it would have felt to land a flush right hand, only to have your opponent walk through it and smash you to the canvas with one of his own. I thought geale might hang for the full twelve, but GGG’s power was way too much. Huge props to GGG on another commanding performance.

Posted July 27, 2014 1:35 am

Fight Aficionado

Not only was it GGG’s 17th straight KO but he’s got the highest KO ratio of any title holder in the sport. What I want is unification. Quillin is pulling a Stevenson and hiding. That leaves Cotto who doesn’t have an opponent for his December slot. I’d doubt he goes with GGG though. Of course he’s not the cherry picking ducker Martinez is and has proven over the years a willingness to face the best, so you never know.
