Left Hook.., Just shut your stupid lying face you dumb fuk.. I’ve been a big supporter of Puerto Rican fighters, and have NOTHING against PR.. You’re thinking of te tumbo.
I was a big supporter of Danny Garcia (PR Heritage) and said he was being way underrated against Lucas Matthysse. I posted to Herron that that fight was going 12 rounds and Danny had a good chance to win.
I’m not a big supporter of Americans, Eastern Europeans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Africans, Cubans, South Americans, or any group or nationality… I judge boxers by what I see them do in the ring.
I continuously supported Cotto against Cheato in posts with te tumbo and said Cotto was going to stop Cheato.
I always praised Cotto for his masterful jab and ATG skills.Posted August 8, 2014 3:45 am

@Science.., It was a bad DQ because they were both fouling… and Rios was fouling more.
Rios continually came in with his head and used it for leverage in Chaves’s face… Chaves pushed Rios’s face away with his glove after many, MANY head pushes in the face by Rios — because the referee wasn’t doing anything about Rios’s illegal head work.
Dakulich has a long history as a partisan referee.Posted August 7, 2014 7:10 pm
If the ahow fits you rapist wetbak…Posted August 7, 2014 4:45 pm
It seems that a lot of people have forgotten the rules or are simply ignorant about them.
It appears that Chaves and those negatively commenting about the disqualification of Chaves by the referee are not aware of or may have forgotten the fact that:
(1) The Unified Rules of Boxing of the Association of Boxing Commissions specifically provide that “IF THE REFEREE FEELS THAT THE BOXER HAS CONDUCTED HIMSELF IN AN UNSPORTSMAN-LIKE MANNER, HE MAY STOP THE BOUT AND DISQUALIFY THE BOXER;” and
(2) The Association of Boxing Commission Referee Rules and Guidelines also specifically provide on Disqualification, in essence, that: A boxer will lose by DISQUALIFICATION when he or she has: fouled and caused harm to his or her opponent; continually refused to follow the rules; and continually disobeyed the Referee.
It is what the referee FEELS about the conduct of a boxer that matters and if the referee in the Rios-Chaves fight felt that Chaves conducted himself in an unsportsmanlike manner but did not feel the same about Rios, the referee is entitled to what he felt and nobody has any right to complain about it because feelings are personal in nature and subjective in character.
It must also be noted that the Association of Boxing Commissions Referee Rules and Guidelines allow disqualification of a boxer by the referee if the boxer fouled. The rules clearly did not make it mandatory for the referee to even make a warning prior to a disqualification by reason of a foul. In the case of Chaves however, he and his corner were previously warned by the referee that Chaves will be disqualified if he continues with his infractions. Hence, on this point alone, the disqualification was very much justified.
Further, it is obvious that Chaves continually refused to follow the rules. In the statements he made after the bout, Chaves in effect or in essence admitted albeit impliedly, that he actually was continually not following the rules. On this point alone, his disqualification was justified.
Further still, Chaves continually disobeyed the Referee. I clearly saw this and others like me who is a boxing fan but not a fan of Rios or Chaves probably saw this also. On this point alone, the disqualification of Chaves was justified.
To all those who say that the referee was wrong in disqualifying Chaves: please read the applicable rules and if you have already done so, please read them again. For all those who think that the Unified Boxing Rules and the Referee Rules and Guidelines of the Association of Boxing Commissions do not make sense, then you all can lobby that the rules be changed but until the rules are changed, please stop saying that the referee was wrong in disqualifying Chaves. A feeling can neither be right nor wrong and a referee is entitled to disqualify a boxer on the basis of what he feels. Thus, the referee committed no wrong in disqualifying Chaves because he is entitled to what he felt at that time and the law entitles him to disqualify a boxer on the basis of what he feels. This law may be hard or may be foolish but until this is changed, this is the law. Dura lex sed lex.Posted August 7, 2014 3:13 pm

Tetumbo and Mad Scientist Sorry but racist comments are just that, racist comments. I see that you both justify it all quite ignorantly. I just related your relatively exact comments of the other racists Chicano/Mexicans that I encountered in Chicago. Racism breeds more of the same, whether you agree or not. It’s actually hasn’t been too hard to see the cowardly racist streak the runs down your spines as you have attacked other races and nationalities with total disregard, no different from the racist Raza individuals who verbally assaulted my family, NOT implying that all Raza are the same. Maybe you should review it all and reconsider. Not looking for ‘fight’ on this, your stand on defending your racist mentality is more than sufficient to realize that it would probably be a waste of time. And no, I don’t agree with the comments referring to Satan being Mexican. I played baseball in the Mexican winter leagues with Obregon, where I occasionally encountered some racial slurs on my home field, especially if I made an out with men on base or when making a good catch in the outfield as visitors. I also played Winter ball for a season in Porto/Puerto Rico with the Indios de Mayaguez team, where I never was subjected to such ridicule, thank God.Posted August 5, 2014 7:30 am

“Top Rank’s referee was totally favoring Rios, this is corruption at best…” – I don’t think Vic Drakulich is corrupt, he’s just prone to overreacting. “I didn’t see any intentional fouling by either” TITOPA, you are simply not looking. otherwise, Rios immediately reacts to Chaves’ intentional fouling in the clinch several times. you look at the replay and it becomes obvious that Chaves is attempting to get away with something the way he keeps a close eye on the ref while attempting to gouge out one of Rios’ eyes. the true smoking gun is Chaves’ bogus and over-the-top befuddlement following the DQ. he didn’t even protest his innocence but rather acted as if he didn’t have a clue about why he was being DQ’d. as if Rios’ loud protests didn’t provide him with a clue. He has to turn the corner and stengthen his company and stop the free TV build up for unsigned fighters, it is destroying the promoting buissiness.Posted August 4, 2014 2:30 pm

HBO needs to not buy Rios anymore, send him to ESPN.Posted August 4, 2014 2:19 pm
Pacquaio and Algeri not PPV worthy, don’t buy it. Even if Algeri wins, he will not get a decision against the Pac Man.Posted August 4, 2014 2:18 pm
Jessie Vargas should have lost 3 fights already.Posted August 4, 2014 2:17 pm
The problem was that Chaves was going to win and he was not signed with Top Rank.Posted August 4, 2014 2:17 pm
Top Rank’s referee was totally favoring Rios, this is corruption at best; boxing is becoming theater. Also Top Rank’s Jessie Vargas specializies in losing fights in the ring and winning them in decisions.Posted August 4, 2014 2:16 pm
Dracula failed to get things under control. That was his failure as a ref. When two guys start wrestling, you call time and pull them into the center of the ring, tell them to cut it out OR you’re going to start taking points. You’ve gotta give them sufficient warning before taking points, and certainly before disqualifications.Posted August 4, 2014 2:12 pm
Both were fouling like crazy! Vic seemed to get lost as to who was actually fouling and who wasn’t, he took a point from each to “keep it fair”, but somewhere after the 7th he lost track of who was fouling who, I didn’t see any intentional fouling by either. Though, both should’ve kept it cleaner, Vic made it clear (after the deductions) he wasn’t playing.Posted August 4, 2014 2:04 pm

@ hibdeebibdee. Maintaining a clinch is when you grab and don’t let go when the referees attempt to break. I am the greatest rules EXPLANATION giver ever born!!!!Posted August 4, 2014 11:19 am
Everybody, I have a question for you and I’d appreciate your response:
According to a number of sanctioning bodies and commissions, “maintaining a clinch” is illegal (a foul).
What does “maintaining a clinch” mean? Does it mean no clinching at all? Does it mean hanging on and refusing to let go? Or does it just mean no clinching is allowed? What is the difference between clinching and holding?Posted August 4, 2014 10:54 am
“Chaves took his and began to experiment with different fight-plans before finally settling on either baiting Rios into the DQ or being DQ’d himself. ”
Still, te tumbo, there were only two rounds left in the bout. It was a little late to be issuing a DQ. Drakulich should have let the fight go the full 10 rounds. I never saw Chaves intentionally poking or thumbing Rios’ eye either.Posted August 4, 2014 10:52 am
“Chaves pulled a Anthony Peterson and fouled his way out the fight due to fear of taking damage or being ko’d in the fight..simple!” Co-Sign. anybody who didn’t detect Chaves’ increasing desperation isn’t very familiar with the ebb-and-flow of a fiercely-contested bout. Rios took his shots and kept coming. Chaves took his and began to experiment with different fight-plans before finally settling on either baiting Rios into the DQ or being DQ’d himself. otherwise, Rios looked and fought like the vintage Rios of old. his inside-game was masterful. his outside game porous. his chin and jaw as formidable as ever. that’s the “Bam Bam” who Chaves couldn’t hang with for the entire 10 rounds. would’ve been a solid win for Rios if Chaves hadn’t of fouled-out of an intense bout that became more intense than he bargained for.Posted August 4, 2014 10:12 am
Rios looks like some of his confidence is gone to me, he was a guy that was really relying on his toughness to get him this far and it looks like the limits of his abilities have become clear.. He still has some good action fights in him but it seems the next steps would be securing the best possible paydays as his career becomes hit or miss going forward.Posted August 4, 2014 9:46 am
over all , a terrible night of prize fighting.Posted August 4, 2014 7:59 am
I think Chaves was a Buenos Aires cab driver anyway. regardless Rios won’t be headlining any major p.p.v. again.Posted August 4, 2014 7:58 am
Cb–Taking a pop-shot at the peoples of an entire nation because of what transpired in a prize fight is a rather childish act in its self. This is something that I would never do. “Keyboard tough guy” that was funny, but I don’t do that either because I think it is a cowardly thing to do. To insult someone from the safety of a keyboard never appealed to me.Posted August 4, 2014 7:51 am
I hate to have to agree with Jim Lampley, but, like him, I have failed to see the alleged foul on the replays. It was a rough fight with dirty tactics by both men, but the fight was stopped when Rios complained of a foul. At that moment, I couldn’t see a foul and neither, apparently, did the referee, or the replay booth. Instead, Vic reacted to Rios’ protest of a foul. The fight got out of control quickly, and the ref was too quick with the point deductions early in the fight.
Diego wins by DQ over Chaves exactly as I predicted. I am the greatest fight PROPHET ever born!!!!Posted August 4, 2014 7:14 am

Dick Tiger – If you can’t see the loose boxing reference from which my quote “will show how pathetically weak the US society has become”, then obviously it’s the strength of the US citizen IQ that has dimished. Or you may be under the age of 20. Or you may just be another keyboard tough guy trying to challenge an invincible opponent.Posted August 3, 2014 10:53 pm
crystal ball–The officiating of the sport of boxing in the States and in some of the other countries is an embarrassment to the sport and to the fans. You have time keepers that can’t keep time , judges that can’t judge , and refs that can’t keep control in the ring. Some times a ref will be favoring a certain to the point that a blind man can see it. Something needs to be done. If you think America is made up of a bunch of weaklings come on over and stand on any street corner and start yelling Fu** America and see how long it takes for somebody to beat your ass.Posted August 3, 2014 10:23 pm
Hopkins is a master in how to steal a round. He will engage the last 10 seconds and the idiot judges and the color commentators will say I think he won the round with that last flurry.Posted August 3, 2014 10:22 pm
The old, steroid abusing, convict racist will get destroyed by the Krusher. This fight will show how pathetically weak the US society has become. This is a bridge too far, even for a boring, pitty pat, clinching, poor mans injury actor with home town ref and judges all by his side. Kovalev will still annihalate old Popkins and become a Unified Light Heaveyweight Champion of the WORLD!!!!!Posted August 3, 2014 10:00 pm

VIVA LAS VEGAS
A couple of weeks ago the clearly out boxed Mexican fighter got the benefit of the doubt in a Vegas fight. This weekend 2 more shtty examples of the same, one a mfkn ridiculously scored fight and a ridiculous DQ in favor of the Mexicans again in Vegas. This has been a fkn pattern for quite some time. SUKS!Posted August 3, 2014 8:53 pm
Denise Alvarez, you’re correct in your assessment of Rios.Posted August 3, 2014 8:41 pm
The scores in the Vargas fight were ridiculous. Kovalev winked at Caparello before he supposedly was TKO’d. Kovalev had to win because the ink was still wet on the contract with Hopkins. Total fix. Nothing good can be said about the Rios fight. Chaves, Dracula & Rios can get a gig in a Three Stooges remake. Overall bad night of boxing.Posted August 3, 2014 8:38 pm
BH is doing what a world champion should do. He is taking on a fighter that many people think is the best in the division. He is not asking for a catch-weight or any other kind of BS. At 49 yrs of age he is showing what it means to consider yourself a real champion. Middleweights stop the BS and get in the ring with Golovkin.Posted August 3, 2014 7:40 pm

Bernard Hopkins is a 4-time world boxing champion.
No one can take away what he have achieved. Hopkins have been in the ring with some of the very best.
49 years old and still the world champion (WBA/IBF).
For those who say Joe Calzaghe fight just haven’t watched much boxing. Hopkins won that fight with 115-113.
And those who believe Sergey Kovalev will KO Hopkins in a fight, especially early, they need to wake up because that will not happen, especially in early rounds 1-5. Hopkins may be old and years past his prime BUT he is a ring veteran and knows boxing better then any active fighter.
Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2-2 NC, KO’s 32) have fought in 65 PRO fights since 1989! He have conquered the undisputed world middleweight crown and defended that crown for 11 years with 20 title defences.
Hopkins is not a KO boxer at this stage of his almost 50 years of age but he have won more fights by Knock-out then Kovalev have won PRO fights (25-0-0, KO’s 23).
I love Sergey Kovalev’s ring career so far and he is a tough strong fighter and deserves his credit BUT I don’t like when people “praise” Kovalev and “trash” Hopkins and repeatedly say that Kovalev will “kill” Hopkins or “destroy” Hopkins or “humiliate” Hopkins etc.
Because we all know very well that Bernard Hopkins is not a typical boxer and if Hopkins wants to fight Kovalev, then he feels he can find a spot on Kovalev to be a weakness ready to be exploit for the old warrior fox.Posted August 3, 2014 7:38 pm

Hopkins should have faced Stevenson and Kovalev a long time ago.. He’s been milking it.. fighting 3rd rate unknowns.
Hopkins was legitimately beaten by China-Chinned Dawson and Brittle Hands Calzaghe.. Don’t give me any crap about his losses.. He’s got about 6 of them.
B-Hop hasn’t got a prayer against Kovalev..
He barely went the 12 with Brittle Hands.Posted August 3, 2014 5:37 pm
Things are going to bhops head a bit as of late, talking about rewriting boxing because of himself lol.
But lets give bhop credit at least for unification of titles and taking on the best in his division vwithout incident like girly man Adonis.
I don’t mind the winner taking a voluntary against a decent fighter after unification, just don’t do it for 2 years like sum of these cowardly bums do.
Like bhop or not, he should he applauded for taking this fight.Posted August 3, 2014 4:52 pm
It was Kovalev’s interview but Hopkins being the egotistical big mouth that he is , couldn’t make a quick comment and show some courtesy and allow Kovalev to complete HIS interview.Posted August 3, 2014 3:23 pm
The Mad Scientist
Don’t be mad at Brandon Rios.. those who follow his career already know what to expect from him..be mad at Diego Chaves for not having enough dogg in him to fight the whole 10 rounds..the Argentine no longer wanted to fight after the 2nd round..he tried to box and was doing well but became fatigue and desperate due to Brandon’s constant pressure and stronger inside fighting..there is nothing hard to understand,, Chaves pulled a Anthony Peterson and fouled his way out the fight due to fear of taking damage or being ko’d in the fight..simple! ..any other barbs or blatant rants is nothing more than hater rhetoricPosted August 3, 2014 3:06 pm
When it comes to me, Bernard is singing to the choir, mad props to Hopkins.
Win lose or draw, bhop is setting an example and showing he has iron nutts, so is kovelev.
I like this, this is the shot in the arm boxing needs.
Bhop , Kathy, oscar and a few others can join forces and take boxing to a whole new level.Posted August 3, 2014 2:57 pm
Brandon Rios needs to grow up! He is immature, foul-mouthed and unprofessional! His brawling, smothering style of fighting is not impressive and he needs to learn more boxing skills. Keith Thurman did what Rios couldn’t- he knocked Chavez out!Posted August 3, 2014 2:10 pm

Well we almost all expected to see Sergey Kovalev to defeat Blake Caparello, and knock him out as well, but 2nd round was earlier then I thod.
We could not expect much of a “top fight” from #10 WBO ranked Blake Caparello, but Kovalev is very avoided now in the light heavyweight division and the better ones seems to want to duck him.
