Just so you know
Your post below Tark. Before the Cotto v Martinez fight….Posted August 12, 2014 3:49 pm
Just so you know
I see right hooks and straight lefts by Martinez working, and Cotto’s jab working well. But I also see Martinez’s jab working and eventually see him mastering the tricky angles and delivery on Cotto’s jab.
Pavlik is the only guy I saw jab Martinez and Kelly had a mile of reach on him. By the middle rounds Martinez adjusted to the reach and height disparity. He took over with his speed and power.
This fight rides on Martinez’s physical condition. How much speed will Martinez produce? He’s 39 years old, but I don’t believe that’s a big deal. Age is a number. It’s the condition of your body that counts — and how hard you can drive it in training camp. Sergio needs to be able to force a destructive pace like he did in his earlier title fights.
I believe he just had a super bad night against Martin Murray, who I had beating him 115-111… I expect the real Sergio Martinez to be back for this fight — and fight better than he has for his last couple of fights.Posted August 12, 2014 3:48 pm
Just so you know, “And no one gave Cotto much chance against Martinez until he won then suddenly Martinez is a shell.”
Martinez was an aging wreck with no knees… He was shell in his previously 2 fights — but at age 39 he was finally a hollowed out shell.
Obviously SM would love to make more big paydays… Sorry Sergio… everybody’s story ends at some point — no matter how long you hang on by your fingernails.Posted August 11, 2014 6:56 pm

Bradley’s best wins are 40 yr old JMM, Provodnikov ( who just got smoked by a kickboxer), Alexander, 40 yr old Casamayor, Witter. Everyone knows he lost to Pac both times except some fool who wants to part with his cash to Rob Arum and crew.Posted August 10, 2014 11:00 am

Bears, a technical decision over Alexander and a decision over Pacquiao that no one believes he deserved? That leaves Marquez as by far his best win. You’re dreaming if you think Bradley’s career stands up to Cotto’s. As for being ‘established on ESB’ is that your get out whenever someone disagrees with you? bullsh!t dude!!! we all discussed murray beating martinez and the motif of the discussion leading up to martinez vs cotto was if martinez broken body would hold up. it was my main point and concern so much that i didnt even make a forecast on the bout cause i thought martinez breaking body was too big of a factor.
we all discussed it at length and that murray got robbed. i dont know where the phuk u were son.u aint even established on east side your not knownPosted August 10, 2014 3:00 am

What’s Bradley’s best win? Against 40 year old Marquez. Cotto beat Mosley when he still had something. Better version of Mosley than Mayweather or Pacquiao fought. And no one gave Cotto much chance against Martinez until he won then suddenly Martinez is a shell.Posted August 9, 2014 10:58 pm

jmm style was does matchup well with pacman and its awesome that pacman tests himself like that against jmm and bradley. i feel bradley did smoke jmm in the boxgame BAD. that the results were conclusive.
jmm with riza and his bacne and 4 fights later landed one shot while it looked like he was gonna stopped. i mean pac has dumped jmm 3 times in one fight. thats enough to end it. pac has dumped jmm a lot. i like jmm but he is in no way greater than the fighter of the decade.
pac vs jmm is an example of a good style matchup. but pax the better fighter and anyone will say as much besides te tumboPosted August 9, 2014 10:50 pm

Bears, what ATGs has Pacquiao been fighting? It’s a long time since the Barrera days and the De La Hoya win is null due to the fight being at a weight he hadn’t made in 10 years.Posted August 9, 2014 8:28 pm
@ Sredmond.., So Floyd fought some great opponents in the past — but is allowed to DUCK Pacquiao and others today???
His request that Pacquiao do randomized testing seemed reasonable — even if he doesn’t run Boxing, and can’t issue edicts from an ivory tower. He’s allowed to negotiate contractual stipulations in a super important fight. I gave hime space on that. I believed he would fight Pac.
I gave Floyd the benefit of the doubt because I wanted to believe in him. He was the best candidate for GOAT ever — if he actually showed some guts to match his skills, he could be unbelievable.
However—like 50 Cents—there comes a time when you realize the cover stories are being fabricated… When the man comes up with new lines of BS every time — there comes a time when you just know he’s full of sht — and is just protecting his precious “O”Posted August 9, 2014 1:53 pm

Sredmond says.., “Mayweather had faced Castillo 2x, Hernandez, Corrales, ODH and others by the time he was 32? who has GGG faced? a banged up Macklin and Daniel Geale… SNOREEEEEEEEEEE!!!”
Snore nothing.., Nobody sleeps at a GGG figtht.. He’s DYNAMITE!!! Geale was a world class fighter, going against a master.
Floyd NEVER fought a master. How good a boxer was Jose Luis Castillo? NOT
Oscar De La Hoya led with his face… Ask Pacquiao how easy he was to hit.
Corrales was a walk-in punching bag… Castillo-Corrales was a massacre
Hernandez was not a superb boxer… Stop joking around.
Floyd said the best boxer he fought was Cotto… Cotto was easily out-boxed by Trout.
If Floyd had to face a prime Napoles.. Forrest.. Leonard.. or Robinson, he would be tested.. Up until Porter, Pacquiao, Thurman, and Brook arrived – there’s been NOBODY like that for Floyd to fight.
Floyd ducked every ATG he was supposed to fight except Cotto. Floyd did well against Cotto—who had suffered 2 BAD KO losses prior—but Porter, Thurman, and Brook are fresher and deadlier welterweights. Floyd won’t fight them… just like he refused to fight Pacquiao.Posted August 8, 2014 7:43 pm
Sredmond says.., “If Nard was 44 I would not give Kovalev more than 4 rounds.”
LMFAO!!! It won’t even GO 4 rounds.. How many rounds did you figure Lomachenko was going to win against Gary Russell??? — who you said was gonna dust Loma.
How many rounds did you figure Lucas Matthysse was going to win against Lamont PEDerson??? Who you predicted would outbox and beat Matthysse.
I guess you didn’t see Hopkins lose twice to the wide open, China-chinned Jermain Taylor — when Nard was only 40… much less 44.
Taylor won at least 4 rounds of each of those Hopkins fights, and was never in any danger of hitting the deck or getting knocked out.. His face wasn’t puffy from Hopkins weak blows — and exactly HOW MANY KO’s has Hopkins scored since he fought Jermain Taylor???
Plus, whenever Jermain met anybody who could punch — he got hammered out.Posted August 8, 2014 6:15 pm
One of the best fights that can be made in boxing got done. No ducking, no finger pointing, the rumble is on. Anyhow as you were…Posted August 8, 2014 5:21 pm
That is, if Hop does not find an excuse to drop the fight, like he already did, as he realizes the danger. A fight to look for, at last.Posted August 8, 2014 3:04 pm
Kovalev-Hopkins is one of the most intriguing fight of the year. Cannot wait for this one. I don’t think Hop ever fought such an aggressive and powerful fighter, and Kova is going to be real tested with a ring legend (personality apart). Hop has never been really hurt in the ring and the old man is still on the top of his game. Kova is (literally) a killer, and the epitome of the fighter. Plus a complete, underestimated boxer. Can you imagine Hop flattened on his back by Kova? A real possibility here.Posted August 8, 2014 3:03 pm
Bears, I am putting Kovalev in perspective he is getting the opportunity to face a 50 year old version of Bernard Hopkins if Nard was 44 I would not give Kovalev more than 4 rounds… That said I give Kova a 60% chance of winning because the OLD man can be outworked but that is NOT much considering that Kova is 32 and Nard is gonna be 50 in like 10 minutes…If Kovalev loses by chance then he is gonna get RAKED over the coals and cruelly denounced.. You cannot have these CRAZY accolades coming from dik riders like you then lose to a 50 year old… Pressure is on Sergey!Posted August 8, 2014 12:11 pm

PEEJ.., “Tark, Roy was not ducking Tarver for years. Heck Tarver had his chance. All he had to do was beat someone and he would of had the next fight with Roy.”
Tarver destroyed Eric Harding in 5 rounds—which was 10 times as impressive as what Roy Jones did—and STILL couldn’t get a fight with Roy. Jones ran forever until Tarver showed up at Roy’s media conference and embarrassed him.
Taver beat the crap out of Roy in their 1st fight… Tarver was unmarked… Roy was battered all over his face.
That was one of the worst robberies of all time.. Roy admitted Taver won the 1st fight but said he was weight drained.. Roy said he would put Tarver on the ropes in the rematch and knock him out.. As you KNOW, Roy got hammered out in 2 rounds.
You’re making excuses, saying Tarver beat an old Roy Jones.. Tarver is OLDER than Roy. He won their trilogy.. There’s no more excuses, Tarver was just the better fighter.Posted August 7, 2014 10:39 pm

Tark, Roy was not ducking Tarver for years. Heck Tarver had his chance. All he had to do was beat someone and he would of had the next fight with Roy. Instead he got his jaw broke and he lost. Roy then went on to beat the other guy. Tarver is no great fighter. He will not be in the HOF. His whole career is based of beating an old slowed down Jones. Dirrell has the wide shots with MUCH SNAP on them. That’s the shot that Kovalev is susceptible to. Has to be FAST though. Dirrell has that. Sometimes your GREATEST Strength is your GREATEST weakness. Kovalev throws SO many shots that he can’t protect his chin. He’s betting on being able to keep you SO much on the Defensive that he has nothing to worry about. An elusive guy that can strike like a Snake is his Kryptonite. GREAT Counter punchers defeat the even the BEST Offensive Fighters. Gene Tunney agrees with ME on that.Posted August 6, 2014 11:22 pm
“Because Dirrell couldn’t hurt the unskilled tin man, wood chopper, tinker toy, pinocchio that was Froch “-Well then you either didn’t SEE the Fight or your definition of hurt is different from MINE. No matter WHAT your definition of hurt IS the FACT is that Dirrell landed a counter on Froch and made him LOSE his equilibrium. And this was a Fight that Dirrell fought with Jet LAG. The FOOL only showed UP 3 days before the Fight. You need NO LESS than a WEEK unless you travel internationally pretty frequently. Nevertheless Dirrell beat him Jet LAG or not. Roy Jones ducked Tarver for years… Roy made a ton of excuses for his very poor showing in their 1st fight, which begged a rematch.
Roy didn’t have many excuses after Tarver flattened his ass in the rematch
Antonio Tarver.., “You gonna have any excuses tonight Roy?”Posted August 6, 2014 7:15 pm
Stevenson, who ducked Kovalev under the guise of unifying against Bhop, refused to enter negotiations with Bhop’s camp last week. So Bhop signed to fight Kovalev and Stevenson is now fighting the always dangerous TBA in September. Showtime sure knows how to throw money away on garbage.Posted August 6, 2014 6:30 pm
So how does Dawson or Taylor have Hopkins number? Dawson out worked him and that is it. Not like he put a hurting on him or anything. He just out worked him. That is nothing. And Taylor should of lost both of those fights so not sure how he has his number either. And Taylor was never the same after those fights with Hopkins. I am not saying Kovalev isn’t going to be number 1 or isn’t going to be the best. But he would need to beat Hopkins to say he is the best in my opinion and also beat Stevenson to claim the championship.Posted August 6, 2014 5:25 pm

Kovalev has proven he’s the best… by crushing the undefeated Cleverly in Wales — and by crushing everyone who’s been willing to contest him for the title.
No 175-pounder dominates so many undefeated and highly ranked guys like that.
Just by simple observation he’s separated himself from the pack. Kovalev has so many weapons, and Hopkins has so many losses —
I just don’t see any way this is will be close.Posted August 6, 2014 3:26 pm
Kovalev is not the real champ. He may be the best in the division but that has yet to be proven. If he beats Hopkins then yes I would say he is the best in the division. If he squeaks by Hopkins then no he would not be the best. But do I consider Stevenson the best, no.Posted August 6, 2014 3:13 pm
Stevenson is the lineal champ… But the lineal champ is very often NOT the best fighter in his division.
Patterson was the lineal champ for much of the 1950’s… and that was only because he was able to duck Sonny Liston for years.
Same thing with Stevenson… He’s ducking the real champ, who would murder him if they fought.Posted August 6, 2014 3:10 pm

Because Dirrell couldn’t hurt the unskilled tin man, wood chopper, tinker toy, pinocchio that was Froch — and lost in the opinion of the official judges. The victory by Froch was loudly cheered by the fans.
And since getting knocked out by Arthur Abraham, Dirrell ducked a Ward fight — and hasn’t done diddly squat in many many years … and that’s for starters.Posted August 6, 2014 3:05 pm
That is not bias. That is truth. Stevenson is the Lineal Champion. I have said being the champ doesn’t make you the best in the division. But saying Kovalev is the best with the opponents he has beaten is not completely accurate. If he turns out the be the best then that is what he is. We will find out when he fights Hopkins because I think Hopkins easily schools Stevenson. And a fight between Stevenson and Kovalev would be nice to. If Stevenson doesn’t KO Kovalev then I would take Kovalev. I think Stevenson has a punchers chance against Kovalev and thats it. That is not bias it is the truth. Stevenson is the Champion.Posted August 6, 2014 2:59 pm
“I totally agree with boxtradomas, Andre Dirrell could really give Kovalev problems.”
Once upon a time yes. Today however, Dirrell is wallowing around in the gutters fighting bums. He’ll never meet up with Kovalev.Posted August 6, 2014 2:59 pm
“kovalevs the CLEAR best light heavy and adonis is a running vagina” – Cosign. PEEJ calling Stevenson the ‘real’ champ reveals his bias. He only has the linear title because he happened to beat a Dawson who got KTFO by Ward. He’s running for his life and Kovalev is the boss at 175 until proven otherwise.Posted August 6, 2014 2:50 pm

Well we may actually see bernard the alien hopkins knocked out, should be entertaining to watch. That is if hopkins don’t wrestle and pul Kovalev to the ground and cry foul saying he broke his arm or sprained his ankle. I look for hopkins to find someway out of this fight, saying he was fouled or some other nonsense. Probably going to be a really dirty fight.Posted August 6, 2014 1:14 pm
Stevenson is the epitome of the p#ssy. Assaults women, get insulted on tv not one but twice by Kovalev, does not even dare to mention his name and runs to another network to avoid him in the ring. P#ssy. Only lowlifes, lonely girls like like PEE(J) who are desperate for any man’ love can cheer for this piece of sh#t, like Kova put it.Posted August 6, 2014 1:10 pm

How does someone WINNING by ROBBERY equal the guy who got ROBBED getting KILLED. Go take some LOGIC courses. Froch couldn’t even land TWO GOOD shots the entire bout. He landed ONE GOOD shot. Dirrell had only 19 Fights or SO at the time and still beat Froch in his own backyard while he was still a NEOPHYTE or TADPOLE. IF he has his man Power now he’s a FULL Grown SHARK. He has the ability to defeat Kovalev. He has the perfect style to defeat him. And he has the SKILLS TOO.Posted August 5, 2014 11:31 pm
If a slower than slow Tin Man like Carl Froch, a guy who even inept George Groves was able to hit with a booming shot, can beat Dirrell on the scorecards — then Kovalev would kill him.
The closer Dirrell came to a Ward fight — the more ailments and illnesses he came down with… The opposition he’s faced in the last few years sucks to the quasars. This game is very mental — and that’s where Andre is sadly lacking.Posted August 5, 2014 10:12 pm
A guy that would be some trouble for Kovalev is Andre Dirrell. He is very FAST on his FEET and he’s one of the most WICKED Counter Punchers in Boxing. The History of Boxing teaches US that even the MOST Offensive Boxers on this planet can be beaten by a GREAT Counter puncher. The BEST Counter puncher will defeat the BEST Offensive Fighter most of the time. Harry Greb agrees with ME on that and Manny Pacquiao agrees with ME TOO. IF Kovalev faces Dirrell he’s facing an elusive guy who can counter with some Power on it. A lot of SPEED as well. That’s a GOOD Fight. I’d give it to Kovalev because I question Dirrell’s stamina and sharpness right now. But IF he could bring his A+ game he could stop Kovalev.Posted August 5, 2014 10:03 pm

“He is a beltholder NOT lineal champ”
Kovalev is the WBO light heavyweight champion, SRedmond. His belt does not say “beltholder” or “titleholder.” It says, “World Champion.” And that’s what he is and that is what he is recognized as within the boxing world.Posted August 5, 2014 5:55 pm
“Kovalev wants the fight so he is willing to take less.” Very likely true. Even moreso, Kovalev is taking the fight because he really wants to fight Hopkins, so he’s more than happy to take significantly less just to get in the ring with him.Posted August 5, 2014 5:51 pm

Kovalev just fought in front of something like 1600 people I believe I read… He has NO following and the chance to fight a get Hopkins name on his resume is worth more than the pennies he will garner elsewhere… He is a beltholder NOT lineal champ… Stevenson has a solid following in Canada he can fight Pascal and make some solid $$$$$$… Kovalev has a shot to get on the map because Caparello is not gonna do it…Posted August 5, 2014 4:29 pm
Well to get the big paydays you want some times you have to concede some things. In this case Hopkins is the A side of the fight. Kovalev wants the fight so he is willing to take less. Some fighters aren’t willing to do that. Floyd had to do it when he fought Oscar though there was much more money in that fight than there is in this one. But many fighters had to do that. If he beats Hopkins chances are he will split or get more money than Stevenson if they fight.Posted August 5, 2014 4:09 pm
BEARS, what that means is Kovalev is willing to give up money to make big fights. He cares about legacy and rising up more than the short term cash. It also suggests he views the risk/reward as worth it. In contrast Stevenson is risk averse because he’s a loser.Posted August 5, 2014 4:07 pm

can u believe the concessions kovalev is willing to make just to get this cats a$$ in the ring? i saw he let nard get 2/3s the purse. how do u not love kovalev!!???? what a dudePosted August 5, 2014 3:53 pm
Well I have 2 theories on that. One of them is yes he is ducking. The other is maybe he thought he deserved more money than Hopkins. If the fight was in Canada I would agree. Anywhere else then I would maybe have to disagree. I believe it was reported that Hopkins was getting two thirds of the purse in the Kovalev fight. He said in the interview that he would of chosen Stevenson if they would of matched or beat the offer. And they did neither.Posted August 5, 2014 3:09 pm
BTW what’s not getting ink in the wake of Kovalev-Bhop is Stevenson’s blatant ducking. He claims he bailed to Showtime for a unification fight with Bhop but reportedly stalled negotiations with Bhop this week so obv he ducked not only Kovalev but Bhop. Clown’s ducking any and every threat to his worthless belts and is now irrelevant. Poetic justice.Posted August 5, 2014 3:06 pm
Actually now that Bhop and Kovalev have both signed I’ve got nothing but complimentary statements for both. There were claims of ducking from both sides of the debate but this proves both are real live men.Posted August 5, 2014 3:01 pm
Yes I did say for negotiating purposes. I may have not said it on every post but I certainly said it. So what if Hopkins never said his name. He also never had a title at the time. So why would Hopkins say his name when he was going after the other titlest? And on top of it all now Hopkins has signed to fight Kovalev. So now what? What else do you have to say about it?Posted August 5, 2014 2:53 pm
“Never once did I say he was ducking him. He was Hopkins mandatory and instead of fighting him he fought someone else for a title. I didn’t see anything wrong with that. I figured he was doing that for negotiating purposes.” – PEEJ never once did you say Kovalev did that for negotiating purposes. But you repeatedly said he took the easy shot against Cleverly instead of Bhop. Which ignores the fact Bhop never once mentioned Kovalev’s name until hours before his WBO title shot was announced. Kovalev wasn’t going to wait for Bhop to maybe or maybe not duck his mandatory.Posted August 5, 2014 2:41 pm
Hopkins is wanting 3G, kovelev and wants to beat them worse than pavilik
What dose pavlik, GGG and kovelev have in common ?
Bernard is a Malcolm X ignorant azzhole.
X didn’t ever mean what people thought it meant, it was Malcolm x just like the black fist in Detroit isn’t joe Louis fist, it’s a black power fist.
I have no respect of Hopkins outside of the ring and his ring work isn’t pretty either.
I do respect his willingness to fight the best.Posted August 5, 2014 1:49 pm
Bears what I said was he was Hopkins mandatory. I also understood it completely. He was Hopkins mandatory, they said Hopkins was delaying or something at the negotiating table and they took it as he didn’t want to fight and didn’t want to remain out of the ring for to long. But here is the thing about being the mandatory. He could of went to the sanctioning body and told them he wants to enforce his mandatory status and then it would of went to purse bid. They didn’t do that. And I said if Hopkins then decided to drop the belt after the purse bid then we could say he was ducking. But that did not happen. Kovalev took the easier rout to a title. Nothing wrong with that. And now look, they will be fighting. And from what was reported, Hopkins is getting two thirds of the purse.Posted August 5, 2014 1:12 pm

Just heard an interview with Darnell Boone who sent Andre Ward, Stevenson and Kovalev to the canvas, that he believes that Kovalev would destroy both Ward and Stevenson. He stated, having been in the ring with all three, that Kovalev hits harder than Stevenson. He said that he woud be Stevenson because he is more precise with his power and actually knows how to box :). Ward could not handle his power…. They had as much of a case as PEEJ has any idea about boxing. NONE!! However it still got one of the 2 belt holders to face the real kingpin at LHW. So mission accomplished. After Krusher puts Hopkins into a deep sleep he can completely unify making a corpse out of the champion dodger Stevenson.Posted August 4, 2014 9:08 pm
They finally smartened UP and took MY advice. There is no reason to file a lawsuit. That makes it more difficult to make a match with that team in the future. Pacquiao agrees with ME on that……All you have to DO is simply follow him over to Showtime. Showtime is a business TOO and IF they have YOU and Stevenson on the same network they are going to force Stevenson to face you or take the BOOT. He already knew HBO would give him the BOOT IF he didn’t Fight you that’s why he took the initiative and RAN before the BOOT hit his ass.Posted August 4, 2014 7:22 pm
Cause they didn’t have a case. Emails don’t make fights. Signed contracts doPosted August 4, 2014 7:19 pm
Habidebeede Stevenson is not promoted by Golden boy if that’s what you’re assuming, so their is no legal liability to Hopkins as it relates to the case between Stevenson, Al haymon and Duva promotion. Kathy Duva’s case was weak and would have been thrown out by the court. All Kathy had with stevensons’s team was a verbal agreement, no contract was signed between the two parties. The law suit did not prevent Stevenson from fighting his last opponent so I don’t know why it would have stopped him from fighting hopkins. All she did by dropping the case was save herself the embarrassment of losing the case and legal fees .Posted August 4, 2014 6:56 pm
Excuse me, I was in error. Duva was not suing Hopkins as I previously stated.Posted August 4, 2014 6:55 pm
Lets get this right.
Convicted felon, and noted r a c i s t Bernard Hopkins had to either fight his mandatory b u m or else arrange a unification by last Friday according to IBF rules.
His options were Stevenson or Kovalev.
All Kovalev’s promoter had to do, was make the deal with Stevenson so messy and under legal threat that a judge might order an injunction against it, or indicate damages would be required.
She was never really going to win the case, it`s all based off a verbal contract, and slimy Al Haymon isn`t so stupid as to leave himself open.
But you don`t always have to be able to win for the court to do your work for you, you just need to be able to push things to the point where the court process will interfere in the other guys business.
That’s what happened here. Kovalev’s team cornered the lowly, disreputable Hopkins between Kovalev or the IBF b u m mandatory.Posted August 4, 2014 6:41 pm
This is a tit for tat exchange where Stevens ran like a coward and Bhop stepped up like a man to replace him, giving Stevens the freedom to defend his meaningless belt against drunken bums and Hopkins the opportunity to solidify his ATG standing.Posted August 4, 2014 6:04 pm

Oh yes she was Tony. Why do you think the lawsuit is being dropped? Diva got exactly what she wanted: Hopkins fights Kovalev as they previously agreed to or GBP and Bernard lose their a$$es in court. Now the fight is happening and the lawsuit is dropped. And Hopkins is forced to fight on HBO.
Oh yeah, Kathy was going to win big time.Posted August 4, 2014 5:33 pm
Now u know why Hopkins agreed to fight Kovalev. All of Hopkins’ bravado when he was interviewed by Kellerman on last Saturday night was just that–hot meaningless air. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hopkins gets “injured” just before the fight and has to pull out.Posted August 4, 2014 5:28 pm
