Kell is going to be hard to beat.
Shawn has only 1 KO and 5 wins in his last 6 fights. He looked devastating against Malignaggi but there was nothing coming back from Paulie. And it’s kind of odd how Shawn came up with his punching power all of a sudden. I know he’s with Conte and all of a sudden he’s throwing bombs.
Kell is unhappy with the drug testing. It’s supposed to be randomized testing but they’re calling and telling him when they’re going to show up.
He said, “That’s not random. That’s BS. They’re supposed to show up unannounced.”Posted August 14, 2014 2:27 am

Canelo would’ve got schooled by Floyd rather he weighed in at 152, 153, 154 doesn’t matter…why does anybody continue to bring up Delahoya vs. Paquiao? that fight was a fukin joke. Delahoya hadn’t weighed 147 in 8-9 years. Shawn should continue to do good at welterweight though., he’s still young and use to fighting bigger men…Roy Jones jr. moved up to HW got a belt from Ruiz, moved back down and got flattened by Tarver! I think it just depends fellas. Have a nice day!Posted August 13, 2014 11:55 pm
It doesn’t matter what weight Berto goes to. Going to 140 isn’t going to give him more Boxing SKILLS. The BEST 140 lbers will stop him. Ortiz was barely a Top 7 140lber and moved UP to drop Berto twice. What DO you think the Top 140 lbers will DO???? Being at your natural weight hs nothing to DO with your Boxing SKILLS. Why DO you think James Toney became fat and still WON??? Its the same reason that Berto will LOSE at any weight……SKILLS is more important than weight.Posted August 13, 2014 10:56 pm
Sredmond LIES.., “Tark, your perspective on Porter is VERY interesting considering that everytime a boxer takes off some pounds and loses you attribute it to the weight loss.”
NO I don’t… Pac when to 147 to KO De La Hoya.. and came down to 140 to KO Hatton.. no ill effects.
Shawn Porter looks better at 147 than 160.. no ill effects.
Archie Moore when back and forth between heavyweight and light heavyweight for many years with no ill effects.. When he lost he really DID lose. It wasn’t the weight.
However there’s a special wasted look a fighter has when he’s weight drained.. You can’t fake the look..
Paul Williams had it for the 1st Carlos Quintana fight… De La Hoya had it when he faced Pacquiao… Canelo had it when he faced Mayweather.Posted August 13, 2014 10:55 pm
Makes sense now about why Herron had a vendetta against ME. I SPANKED him SO routinely that I forgot about it. MY “uneducated stab in the dark” SPANKED him again.Posted August 13, 2014 10:48 pm
Anonymous LIES quoting me, ” ‘Even Herron thought Matthysse was going to KO Garcia.. I told him that wasn’t going to happen.’ ”
“NOPE! THATS A LIE!”
That’s the TRUTH… You can ask Herron about that because later he asked me if I predicted that because of the weight of the gloves.. So I’m sure he remembers.Posted August 13, 2014 10:34 pm
And sorry SILLY Jester but Porter’s going to come away with the SLAUGHTERHOUSE WIN. Unless Brook takes MY advice and learns how to defend against the Right hand.Posted August 13, 2014 10:01 pm
“Even Herron thought Matthysse was going to KO Garcia.”-OH THANKS for reminding ME!!!!!!!! I totally forgot that Herron actually SAID that Garcia didn’t have the TOOLS to deal with Matthysse and I had to CORRECT him on that!!! Old Yank had even come back from retirement to jump on Herron’s SINKING ship. I stayed on SHORE and watched as both disappeared. Herron actually disappeared long enough to make ME forget that I SCHOOLED him. Old Yank hasn’t even come back because every time he deals with ME he gets another serving of Crow Mignon. I can’t blame him.
THANK you SO much for reminding ME about that!!! I get SO many WINS that sometimes I FORGET some of them!!!!Posted August 13, 2014 10:00 pm
Well then with that logic Ward is a natural SMW. SO why does everyone want him to become LESSER than he IS to face Kovalev???? With TARK’s logic he is a natural SMW. TARK’s logic is flawed…and when logic is flawed they call it FALSE.
People just use weight as an excuse for not being SKILLED enough. Porter is obviously SKILLED enough to come down from being a dominant AMATEUR MW and remain as a dominant PRO WW. SKILLS is more important than SIZE. Stating what weight a guy came from is irrelevant. SKILLS is what’s relevant. That’s why I took Pacquiao over De la Hoya and I was CORRECT. Pacquiao was #1 P4P and De la Hoya was #0 P4P. What weight each guy came from was irrelevant. The SKILLS proved to be more important once again. Just as when Ward SPANKED Rodriguez and MANY MANY other bouts that I don’t feel like typing right now.
I’ve touted MANY times before and I tout once again that SKILLS is the most important factor in Boxing. TARK’s explanation is just a cover UP for EXCUSES. Figuring out that you’re a natural WW does not give you more SKILLS. Pacquiao is a natural 138 lber and STILL ran through all the #0 P4P natural WW’s. Because SKILLS is more important than natural SIZE.Posted August 13, 2014 9:56 pm
Q… Right… Guys will jump up 15 pounds before they’ll move down 13 pounds, or even 7 pounds — if they just happen to be too small for the division they’re in.
It’s the, “I’m no lightweight” mentality.Posted August 13, 2014 5:43 pm
Slim.., “A lot people thought Gary Russell jr. was gonna win that fight Tark. No shame in getting that one wrong.”
TRUE, no shame… but it displays some insight and knowledge when you consistently call fights like that correctly.
Even Herron thought Matthysse was going to KO Garcia.. I told him that wasn’t going to happen.. Even Herron said Marquez was going to KO Bradley.. I told him that wasn’t going to happen.
Many thought Peterson was going to outbox Matthysse… No shame in that.. but they don’t understand style matchup dynamics. I explained it before the fight.
Many predicted Floyd would KO Canelo… That was always going the full 12… In fact Sremond called every one of those fights wrong.Posted August 13, 2014 5:40 pm
“Who wants to be a smaller man? … I’ve often thought that Andre Berto is a super-lightweight.”

Hey DMX Porter if 5 7″ not 5 6″ also a lot people thought Gary Russell jr. was gonna win that fight Tark. No shame in getting that one wrong. Have a nice day!Posted August 13, 2014 12:34 pm
Sred.., Fighting in the wrong weight division and being weight drained are 2 different things. Obviously Porter was fighting overweight at middle. Obviously Alvarez has a massively hard time making 154.
YOU are the guy who bases everything on the last fight.
That’s why you picked Russell to “dust” Lomachenko.
That’s why you picked Marquez to KO Bradley.
That’s why you picked Matthysse to KO Garcia after saying he was going to be outboxed by Peterson.
I said all those fights were going the distance except Matthysse-Peterson which I said would be a Matthysse KO because Peterson is a brawler who walks into a puncher’s wheelhouse.Posted August 13, 2014 12:02 pm
Tark, your perspective on Porter is VERY interesting considering that everytime a boxer takes off some pounds and loses you attribute it to the weight loss…Why not just admit you REALLY base everything off a guys last performance like most reactionary fight fans do… If Porter dropped a couple of pounds for some reason and lost you would say “he was drained, ashy, dead on the scales” because he won you are like “he is at his best weight” blah blah blah blah…Posted August 13, 2014 9:30 am
That’s the kiss of death
Pick Porter you pr!ckPosted August 13, 2014 8:29 am
Brook by WIDE UD. Porter has power but lacks some of the skills necessary. This one is an EASY pick.Posted August 13, 2014 8:10 am
It’s not the usual problem, but Porter thought he was a middleweight.
Porter discovered that he was a natural welterweight… Once you start sleeping.. eating.. drinking.. training.. and living right—you’re going to go to your best natural weight.
Men have to let their weight go down instead of thinking, “OMG I’m disappearing” and start munching like crazy. You could get a lot slimmer but you’ll feel stronger.
Some guys discover that they’re actually smaller and lighter than they realized.. Men love to be big.. It can be a problem for them to find their best weight – if they’re smaller than they always thought.
Who wants to be a smaller man? … I’ve often thought that Andre Berto is a super-lightweight.Posted August 12, 2014 11:51 pm
IF what PEEJ says is TRUE then Golovkin should have no problem weighing in at 147 to face Floyd. He’s losing the same weight that Porter LOST.Posted August 12, 2014 6:29 pm
Everyone changes the EXCUSE to their OWN liking. When the guy that they back loses weight they say he’s drained but when the guy that they don’t back loses weight they say OH he’s extra strong because he really should be in another weight class. Well which one IS it???Posted August 12, 2014 6:27 pm
“Also keep in mind Porter started his career at 160 or above. He has slowly moved down so he is gonna be stronger than a lot of 147lb fighters.”

“Lacy vs Calzaghe type schooling”
NOPE!!! … No boxing lesson or schooling with Porter-Brook
Lacy was a punching bag and Clazaghe was a brittle fisted brawler — albeit one with fast hands who dodged a lot of punches — but he led with his face.
Brook and Porter are boxer-punchers who take people out.Posted August 12, 2014 1:12 pm
Also keep in mind Porter started his career at 160 or above. He has slowly moved down so he is gonna be stronger than a lot of 147lb fighters.Posted August 12, 2014 11:39 am
Porter has either gained some serious man strength in his last 2 fights, OR hes on PEDs. Seeing as how he has a new addition to his training team i think its safe to assume the latter!!!

nothing like stating the obvious, author says “Brook is going to need a plan B” he’ll have a plan B,C and D mate, he’s not called the special one for nothing but it’s understandable that American media don’t rate him because in their minds if you don’t fight regular in America then you can’t be any good. pretty ignorant really, Brook has lots of tools in the toolbox, Does Porter have a plan B? when his bum rushes don;t work what can he possibly do then because he aint outboxing Brook.Posted August 12, 2014 5:28 am
I hear you, but brook isn’t feather fisted like Alexander and he has a better jab than Alexander. He also follows his jab with a pretty decent Right hand. We’ll have to see how Porter takes brooks power.Posted August 12, 2014 4:01 am

I think Porter will find that Brook hits harder than he thinks. This will be a close fight but Brook is the better boxer and if he can avoid letting the fight become a brawl then he can win a close decision or possibly force a late stoppage if Porter realises he’s behind on points and gets reckless. Whatever happens I’m looking forward to it.Posted August 11, 2014 5:12 pm
Porter too hot and hungry right now, Brook is gonna have to bring the kitchen sink.Posted August 11, 2014 4:57 pm
The one thing I agree with that Brook said is, “This will be a FOTY candidate.”
That tells me Brook isn’t pie-in-the-sky.. He’s expecting brutal, savage, cruel warfare, where somebody is going to get hurt.. This will be a very high level boxing and punching match.. Both guys can box. Both guys can hit.
It’s like Mosley vs De La Hoya 1 … I’m expecting Shawn to unload on this boy.Posted August 11, 2014 4:39 pm

Sky Sports is free this Saturday-Sunday 6am in the UK as a one off promotion…which means anyone with the basic sky channels gets to watch Brook/Porter for free too:) Brilliant. Brook takes this one on points.Posted August 11, 2014 12:23 pm
I’m a big Matchroom fan and huge U.K Boxing fan but just cant see this any-other way than a porter win. Brook works brilliantly on the outside especially when he get’s into a rhythm but when knocked out of a rhythm can become lack luster with his defence. He doesn’t tie up enough and nullify the other man. When a guy is still in front of brook ploughing forward after 5-6 rounds he tends to switch off abit and the other guy gets into the fight. Let’s hope brook can time Porter when leaps in and counter punch off the back foot well enough to get the win. Brook punches like a mule he’s actually underrated for his power but just think porter will be too strong, determined and aggressive for Brook to keep him off. It’s a very interesting fight and hopefully Brook can come out on top but my be just too much of a stretch for him.Posted August 11, 2014 12:08 pm
His 1 2 is lethal
UK babyyyyyy!!!!!Posted August 11, 2014 11:59 am
Brook can fight but so can Porter.Hard one to pick but I’d go with brook.Brook has a solid jab and doubles up with it a lot and also has a good right hand behind the jab.Posted August 11, 2014 11:58 am
If anyone is guilty of an incorrect appraisal I think its Porter that is overrating himself and underrating BrookPosted August 11, 2014 11:55 am
The better technical boxer is Brooks and that is why he’ll win…..late stoppage….For England brooks.Posted August 11, 2014 11:46 am
I see this fight ending in a round tko. Porter will mull this BritPosted August 11, 2014 11:44 am
UK vs USA
I fancy brook all the way in this, Porter will struggle to get past one of the best jabs in the welterweight division. I reckon Brook will stop him late on maybe 8-9rnds. Porter will get timed coming in over and over again.
C’mon Kell!!!Posted August 11, 2014 11:04 am
USA vs UK…
Now this is a “fight” ….unlike the Danny Garcia vs Rod “Petter McNelly” Sulka….anyway, Porter is just to big and to strong for Brook but I think Brook will hang for at least 7-8 rds…look for that TKO in the 9-10 rds…Brook isn’t undefeated for nothing…he’s got skills but Porter is the real deal….Posted August 11, 2014 11:00 am

Brook is a level below khan.Posted August 11, 2014 9:04 am
American fight fans are under-estimating Brook. Both fighters are good at what they do. Porter i think likes to bully his way round the ring jumping in with right hooks like he did with Paulie and then fighting on the inside. Not giving his opponent the chance to jab. Kell relies on his jab a lot and keeping his opponent at arms length, ready for his heavy hands. I see Porter fighting similar to the Malignaggi fight. Brook I think will know this and have his A and B plans ready!! I like Porter but I do see Brooks strength prevailing here. The only way I see Porter winning this is if Kell punches himself out like the 1st Carson Jones fight. Porter wont let Brook get away like Jones did as he’s a much better finisher!!Posted August 11, 2014 8:39 am
I also think Porter will hit harder than Brook expects and that will be the beginning of his long night (or short night).Posted August 11, 2014 8:33 am
At least he has confidence but…… porter ko s brook by round 6Posted August 11, 2014 8:29 am
Whoever wins Mayweather won’t fight them! Brook is a lot better than most American fight fans think but will need a KO to avoid what happened to Khan v Petersen. Ironically Eddie Hearn could be on the receiving end of a robbery, which would be unfair on Kell but just desserts for MatchroomPosted August 11, 2014 8:22 am
I like to hear this from Brook. Some confidence. On tenterhooks waiting for this fight. I see porter winning as he might punch harder than brook expects, and has this countering the counter thing going on. Brooks patience and accuracy and power could be a good combination too. It may come down to chins. I hope brook doesn’t do his switch hitting to much as it might back fire aka haggler Leonard. Many possible scenarios here. No prediction yet.Posted August 11, 2014 7:53 am
