“Why wouldn’t I take a dive for a few thousand? Scott is the fighter and he took a dive.”
The reason Malik Scott DIDN’T take a dive is this: he stood to make a ton of money in his next fight if he WON!!
Scott would then be the mandatory challenger for Heavyweight Champion Bermane Stiverne… Stiverne is somebody Scott had the possibility of beating… If he beat Stiverne — in his next fight he makes millions fighting Wladimir Klitschko.
But Scott is NOWHERE now… A 36-2-1 record and a Pariah… That’s all because he fell through his ass during the biggest opportunity he’ll ever see in his lifetime.
Nobody wants a heavyweight who stinks out the joint… Scott could do a Roberto Duran comeback. A feel your way back process — like Duran did after “NO MAS.”
But Duran had a huge advantage—in that he was a great fighter… You can stink out the joint and still come back if you’re great.Posted August 15, 2014 3:10 pm

Wilders bread and butter punch is the right hand. You have to neutralize that weapon or avoid it and look to counter it. Usually after throwing a right wilder wether he misses or lands has his hands down. Ocassionally wilder will follow a right with a left hook right hook combo. Basically wilder is predicatable. You can see wilder loading up with the right usually. Reminds me of a guy I played ping pong with. The guy was great if you played to the his right but any shots to his left he couldn’t really return the ping pong ball effectively. Basically Wilder is wide open for counters after he throws the right but all his competition is so week they are usually running for cover or on the canvas after wilder lands a right on the head or their gloves. Gavern will be to fat and unfit to run from wilder and will be a sitting duck for the right. This fight will be over so fast in the first if wilder attacks the danny garcia vs sarka matchup will look competitive compared to this slaughter. Has wilder had at 10 sec ko’s? Might as well go for it I think Gavern is ready to be had like 10 fights ago. Stivern isn’t all that good either, wilder stays on the outside and ko’s stivern unless stivern really is a good defender like others have said. I think stivern is an out of shape fat slob myself which means I think wilder will ko stivern with the right from a distance. I hope stiverne can mount a challenge but I really doubt it.Posted August 14, 2014 11:11 pm

Realisticly, Deontay’s boxing statistics are quite respectable.
Malik Scott was 36-1-1 before the fight. With a controversial draw over now highly ranked condender(by Boxrec.com) Vyacheslav Glazkov.
Nicolai Firtha. A solid journeyman fighter.
Siarhei Liakhovich. A former world heavyweight champion.
Audley Harrison. An Olympic gold medal winner and a former world title challenger.
Kelvin Price and Damon McCreary. Both previously undefeated with 13 and 14 wins.
Kertson Manswell 25-5; Daniel Cota 17-3-1; David Long 11-1-2; Jesse Oltmanns 10-2-0. Have reasonable statisics.
In some earlier matches there are – Shannon Caudle 9-0-1; Ty Cobb 7-1. Only one loss each. Not bad!Posted August 14, 2014 10:49 pm

Yo.., Zhang Zhilei vs. Curtis Tate wasn’t a fix, it was a pathetic mismatch..
I just watched it.. Tate had no ability and took a punch to the forehead with stunned him. The follow up punch, which glanced off his shoulder, but still made contact with his jaw knocked him down.. He got up, but Jay Nady stopped it. You stay down if you don’t want to fight.
And if you’re going to throw a fight, you’re not going to throw it in 5 or 6 seconds, with the first power punches that make any kind of contact.. That was just a miserable mismatch..
There’s no need to fix a fight where the opponent has ZERO chance to win.. The promoter was just praying the “opponent” who’d been KO’d several times very early, would last at least one minute into the fight — which he couldn’t.
There’s a lot of miserable mismatches in this sport, and this was about the worst I’ve ever seen.Posted August 14, 2014 10:13 pm

Considering Wilder’s flawed everything lol. Gavern has a punchers chance so to speak. Pull a Tarver (how he beat RJ), swarm Wilder and don’t stop till the ref pulls you off. Wilder has a hard time punching move back plus his accuracy is already mediocre and he has a suspect chin. Wilder will throw bombs get his legs crossed up, get clipped then wobble etc. From there Gavern would depend on cardio and accuracy to finish it. Wilder’s people prob know this and saw that Gavern is susceptible to the right..Posted August 14, 2014 8:09 pm
Yo.., The fight that I saw… that was all over the Internet… was a 6’11” Chinese Heavyweight knocking down an opponent several times and stopping him.

Tark, anyone can youtube it and see who is right.
Left glanced, right missed, Scott dove, you cheered.
For a guy who claims to be old and experienced, you are really on Wilder’s squad pretty hard.
Old timers usually are skeptical of knockout artists who only fight cans.
Why do you believe in Wilder so much?
Parker from Down Under, or New Zealand, is much more interesting.
Joshua is more serious already than Wilder.
Takam has proven more.
Your love of Wilder doesn’t add up.Posted August 14, 2014 7:47 pm
Yo’s version.., “A Chinese hwt. ko’d some guy with a punch to the shoulder last week– nothing fishy there either, right?”
What happened…, The Chinese heavyweight knocked his badly overmatched opponent down a number of times, and was belaboring him at will.
Yo’s version…, “Lucas Browne KO’d a Canadian Hwt. 2 fights ago from a combo THAT ALL MISSED. Nothing fishy there either.”
What happened…, Browne had hit the Canadian heavyweight hard earlier and hurt him.. He was killing the Canadian in the corner and the man was trying to save himself from brutal punishment by going down.
It’s a tough sport.Posted August 14, 2014 7:45 pm
I will continue to have no respect for Wilder until he has taken on and beaten at least two live opponents. I have no respect for his 31-0 record. I have no respect for his right to a world title challenge. He has not earned the privilege. If he fights and beats Stiverne then defends against a credible opponent then I will publicly apologize. But until then…Posted August 14, 2014 7:42 pm
Yo is BLIND.., “Wilder hit Scott with a glancing, OPEN-PALM, slap. Then MISSED with a right. And Scott was DOWN and OUT!!”
As I suspected, you DIDN’T watch the fight, … Wilder threw the right hand FIRST… The left hook followed and was the finisher.. NOT the right.Posted August 14, 2014 7:34 pm

You believe that only rich fighters can get their opponent to dive?
Golden Boy can’t afford a dive from Scott?
A Chinese hwt. ko’d some guy with a punch to the shoulder last week– nothing fishy there either, right?
Lucas Browne KO’d a Canadian Hwt. 2 fights ago from a combo THAT ALL MISSED. Nothing fishy there either.
Wilder hit Scott with a glancing, OPEN-PALM, slap. Then MISSED with a right. And Scott was DOWN and OUT!!
If this is not a clear dive to you, then apparently you would not believe unless Scott himself told you.
Wilder does not throw open palm slaps, but he did against Scott.
If a glancing, open palm slap is enough for Wilder to KO people, then he has more power than Tyson, Marciano, Foreman, and both Klitschko’s.
Either that, or Wilder is all hype and fraud. Wonder which is more likely.
Ask yourself, when did any fighter other than Wilder KO someone with a glancing slap– which was the only connected punch in the fight?
You claim that Scott was KO’d for real because of the punch that hit Liakhovich??
You are saying the vibrations from the Liakhovich ko punch landed on Scott months later and KO’d him??
What does one fight have to do with the other.
Liakhovich was hit clean.
Audley was hit clean.
Scott was hit with a glancing, open-handed slap and acted as if someone had shot him.Posted August 14, 2014 7:13 pm

@Yo sparring is sparring but a fight is something different. Lots of people you spar with you aren’t ever really feeling their true destructive power that they will unleash in important amateur or any pro bout. What would Scott’s incentive to dive be? When your a mega money star like say a Mike Tyson your team is earning more than enough money to offer the ‘opponent’ a better deal so to speak for diving. No way Wilder could do that with Scott. I don’t think it was worthy of being an eliminator but Scott’s career is over now, he had no reason to dive did he? The shot didn’t look clean but this is an unclean shot from a guy who put noted tough guy strong chinned Lyakhovic in a catatonic state after ONE shot. Hate on Wilder for his weaknesses but the guys power is freakishPosted August 14, 2014 6:49 pm
yo.., That was no dive… Did you see the right hook that hit Liakhovich… Are you going to call that a dive??? LMFAO!!!
This boy DW can HIT… Scott just got nailed in the temple.. He wasn’t out.. just disoriented and couldn’t find his feet with the ropes messing him up a bit.
NEXT!!!Posted August 14, 2014 6:47 pm
Quick KO, shocker. That’s like saying a Mack truck is expected to quickly run over a pedestrian.Posted August 14, 2014 6:25 pm
This setup started BEFORE the fight.
Websites were posting rumors that Scott would dive.
Scott was interviewed before the fight about dive rumors.
The WBC forced Jennings to fight a top 5 opponent to get a title shot, but let wilder fight someone outside the top 20, coming off a k.o. loss, and also his best friend and sparring partner-in HIS eliminator .
And nothing seems fishy to you?
Then Scott goes to the weigh-in with a bag over his head.
Scott doesn’t throw one punch, gets clipped with the top third of wilder’s open left glove, blocks the right, falls down and is counted out.
Anyone can watch the video and watch this dive for himself.
I asked an ex- amateur boxer if it was possible if this was not a dive. He said hell no. Fighters that have sparred often know each others power, style, and know how to survive.
Scott, in his words, either has ZERO punch resistance, or it was an obvious dive.
Since Scott had been Wilders sparring partner, obviously he can stand up to Wilders punches when he wanted to.
Only the majorly deluded don’t smell a rat when all if these factors are added up.Posted August 14, 2014 6:05 pm

Frontage reminds me of W klitsco. He has a lot of height and power. That’s a big advantage for him, plus he is aggressive.Posted August 14, 2014 5:53 pm
Malik Scott got hit with a left hook to the temple that he didn’t see coming… those can mess with you.
Scott was embarrassed because he was trying to find his feet. Ordinarily that would be a flash knockdown, but if you get caught in the ropes it harder to get your orientation. That was his 2nd loss in a row that was kind of fluky — so I hope Scott doesn’t can his whole career over that. He needs to take any fight he can get.
It’s hard for a boxer to beat Wilder because he’s so tall and his arms are so long.
An attacker like Stiverne has a better chance. People say Bermane is a boxer, but he has the body shots and can fight close too. Stiverne is a pretty fair defender. I don’t think he gets credit for that. It’s not like Arreola was hurting him in either fight at any time.Posted August 14, 2014 5:48 pm

Hey peej I don’t agree with you a lot of the time but even when I don’t I can understand your reasoning. I also believe its possible they are protecting wilder but like you said he’s not fighting a strong proven fighter in stievern because stievern got hurt. So why not give him the credit he deserves for that, some people just don’t look at things fir what they are wow. Again I’m not saying he is gonna be an all time great heavyweight and sure he hasent been fighting the best opposition but damn 31-0 with 31 kos deserves some credit……Posted August 14, 2014 3:50 pm

This pundit says..,”You have to wonder what Stiverne is thinking about this fight. Is he hoping Deontay will lose or is he praying that he’ll get rid of Gavern so that the two of them can meet in November for a showdown?”
Stiverne isn’t thinking anything about this fight. He knows it’s a super weak tune-up… He knows Wilder doesn’t have a lot of rounds and his people are trying to get him some.
“Praying that he’ll get rid of Gavern.” … LOL That’s not a prayer.. That’s a certainly.Posted August 14, 2014 3:14 pm

I don’t know where you get your “sense” from. From the day he got the first Arreola fight he worked his ass off.. He put a savage beating on Chris for 12 rounds and then put him away in the rematch.
He’s a very serious man. He definitely wants to get rid of DW and get to Wlad.
I don’t think he’ll get there, but it won’t be from lack of desire.Posted August 14, 2014 3:05 pm

Nothing really wrong with the quality level of the HW division. The only real problem is that nearly all top HW fighters are outrageously over protective when it comes to their ranking or their spot so to speak. Wilder has big bargaining power if he beats Stiverne for the WBC title. The division could be exciting if we had guarantees that the fights we want would definitely happen. But I see Stiverne dragging out his WBC run for as long as possible. He never comes across to me as a really motivated heavyweight who wants to make his mark. He’s too quiet and too inactive. He doesn’t put himself out there. You hardly get the sense he wants to really conquer Klitschko and unify the titles.Posted August 14, 2014 2:45 pm

Deontay Wilder had 10 free shots on Charlie Z the internet troll and couldn’t legitimately knock him down or even hurt him??? How so? The guy was a non professional boxer who weighed about 145 pounds. Wilder is hype of the century and he aint even that good at hyping himself. I’d love it if a prime Samuel Peter was around today. Someone to just take Wilder’s shots freak him out and then bang him to the canvas. Wilder has a punch, a good one, but nothing more. He can’t jab. Poor movement, bad balance, clumsy coming forward can’t pace himself. The guy just windmills punches to get a win and hopes for the best. Stiverne will brutalise Wilder you heard it here first. He’ll ride his shots and KO him by round 4 no problems. Wilder’s a nutjob as well. He knows the path his handlers have taken him and he’s happy about it and fancies himself as the real article. HBO wanted nothing to do with this guy??? Ask yourselves why?? Olympic medallist, good looking, tall immaculate physique big punching U.S heavyweight but they rather had Seth Mitchell to hype? It’s because dozens of people behind the scenes know Wilder is a weak chinned over protected for a reason phoney. He’ll get what’s coming to him.Posted August 14, 2014 12:37 pm
