Marquez would time Porter coming in and knock him TFO.Posted August 17, 2014 9:57 pm
Tark-So Floyd really hasn’t fought ANYBODY in 18yrs. so do you still think fighting PORTER would have been something different in 18yrs like you said???? lolPosted August 17, 2014 2:25 am
Marquez killed Pacman
Well,Porter might want to take a second look at the Marquez fight after tonight.
LOLPosted August 17, 2014 2:03 am
Just so you know
Should Floyd still fight Porter Tark??Posted August 17, 2014 12:17 am
Tark-I agree those would be good match up’s, but other than Pacquiao…can Thurman, Porter sell a PPV? That’s the question. Floyd, Golden Boy, Showtime, Haymon, Ellebe, Schaefer. All these people have to get paid Tark…this is business too don’t forget that. The winner tonight might get a shot at Floyd “O”…but you can’t sit up here and say 18yrs in the sport he hasn’t really fought anybody Tark c’mon.Posted August 16, 2014 10:14 pm
Slim.. They’re NOT Floyd’s problem… He’s a clever matchmaker who fights guys when they’re the most vulnerable.
But he should fight somebody who could make a good fight for the fans… Such as Porter, Thurman, or Pacquiao.Posted August 16, 2014 9:42 pm
Below post to TJPosted August 16, 2014 8:44 pm
TO, Khan can be good. He’s exciting to watch, win or lose. I would live to see the domestic dust up between Khan and Brook but if I was Kell, I would leave Amir Khan our in the cold too.Posted August 16, 2014 8:44 pm
Tark, you just proved that you are a self contradicting know it all about very little. Your credibility just crashed and burned.Posted August 16, 2014 8:40 pm
@Tark…like you said about Pacquiao beating a weight drained Oscar. “Its not Pacquiao’s problem” But now its Floyd’s problem Zab was “dumb”? That Oscar was “slow”? Marquez is too small? I thought he knocked out Manny Pacquiao…That Canelo is Klunky? Cotto was beaten assed? I thought Cotto was the middle weight champ…How are these excuses, Floyd problem?Posted August 16, 2014 8:36 pm
Tark, just for the record I’m 35 years old, hardly a boy. Please don’t attempt to discredit my opinion by trying to imply that I am naive. Subliminal bs is quite transparent and I have little doubt that I could teach you quite a lot about this sport.Posted August 16, 2014 7:37 pm
Just so you know
Tark, so you give him no credit for his victories yet say he is the best candidate for GOAT? That makes no sense. You’ve mentioned Thurman and Porter a lot recently but these guys are new to the scene. The timing of the scheduled fights mean next year was the earliest he could or can fight Porter and I think Thurman has a lot to prove before he gets a shot.Posted August 16, 2014 7:30 pm
Hecdog why all the bitterness? Whatever the excuses, however you try to back up your theories with an attempt at providing unsubstantiated evidence, you cannot erase history. Marquez put Manny Pacquiao to sleep. Get over it.Posted August 16, 2014 7:29 pm
Tark – who has Floyd ‘passed up that could beat his ass’? Thurman? The guy has been on the scene for 5 minutes. Pacquiao turned down $40 million. Porter isn’t hot enough yet to pull the numbers and, like Thurman, he is a recent up and comer. Both guys are just getting a name on the big stage. How the f**k has Mayweather ducked them? Your arguments are piss weak.Posted August 16, 2014 7:18 pm
Tark, executing timing is all about creating space as you most likely know. Space cam be created by footwork and Marquez has good footwork. He is a counter puncher no a leader. Marquez struggles with boxers like Mayweather and Bradley because he doesn’t like leading the dance and both TB and FMJ forced him our of his comfort zone. What makes you think he won’t see Porters shots? If he can time Pacquiao he can time any aggressive in out fighter.Posted August 16, 2014 7:12 pm
Just so you know “Tark, you’ve just said he’s spent 18 years fighting nobodies. He has had competitive fights and he’s taken fights that people thought would be competitive but weren’t such as Corralles and Canelo.”
I didn’t say he fought nobodies… Corrales was a weak shlt for that fight. A tinker toy who was badly weight drained. Corrales was a terrible boxer anyway and couldn’t defend himself.
Canelo was too klunky and weight drained… He might have been Floyd’s toughest opponent, but the 152 catchweight was a brilliant ploy and Canelo couldn’t fight a lick that night … just like Oscar against Pacquiao and Paul Williams in his first fight with Carlos Quintana.
They were all badly weight drained.Posted August 16, 2014 7:10 pm
I have Porter to win a UD… I’m pulling for Brook because Porter is with Conte, a “nutritionist” who I don’t like.Posted August 16, 2014 7:04 pm
Just so you know
Tark, you’ve just said he’s spent 18 years fighting nobodies. He has had competitive fights and he’s taken fights that people thought would be competitive but weren’t such as Corralles and Canelo. He made certain fights look easy and got criticised for it. He went out of his natural weight to beat De la Hoya. Anyway like I say tonight is about Porter and Brook. I pick Brook how about you?Posted August 16, 2014 6:50 pm
I didn’t say Floyd is NOTHING!!! Don’t be like Sredmond and talk BS
Floyd is the beat candidate for GOAT anyone could find.
It’s just that he passes up logical opponents who could possibly beat his ass… He’s too protective of his “O” so we’ll never see him in a competitive fight.
Except one that the judges make competitive like the DLH SD.Posted August 16, 2014 6:25 pm
Just so you know
Tark, you used to sing Mayweather’s praises yet now he’s nothing. Come on he’s the best that’s come out of at least the last two generations. Anyway the thread is about Porter and the fight tonight is Porter v Brook. Why you still obsessing over Floyd?Posted August 16, 2014 6:06 pm
“Tark says Floyd is chicken shyt wont take risky fights, really? after 18yrs in the sport”
18 years fighting WHO exactly???
Old assed Mosely??? Slow assed Oscar??? … Dumb assed Zab??? … Beaten assed Cotto??? … Small assed Marquez … Weak assed Corrales??? … Klunky and weight drained Canelo???
Let’s face it… There was something wrong with every opponent Floyd ever fought … There’s nothing wrong with Porter… Thurman… or even Pacquiao.
Except Floyd is too chicken to fight them.Posted August 16, 2014 6:01 pm
Just so you know
Brook will stop Porter late in the fight tonight so Porter’s plans are irrelevant.Posted August 16, 2014 5:55 pm
“Tark, Marquez would time Porter all night long.”
You can’t time what you can’t see boy… Too young.. too fast.. too strong.. too tough.. too smart for the ol timer.
jmm couldn’t even catch up with slow assed Brad. WYTA?Posted August 16, 2014 5:53 pm
No way does Porter beat Marquez. Marquez may be old but he is experienced and superior in all aspects of the game except maybe punching power. He would KO Porter for the same reason he KO’D Pac. Wild jumping undisciplined jumping in stylePosted August 16, 2014 5:00 pm
Tark, Marquez would time Porter all night long.Posted August 16, 2014 4:56 pm
Porter won’t beat Brook and I can’t see him beating Marquez either. Brook will do a number on Porter tonight.Posted August 16, 2014 4:54 pm
Porter would beat Marquez’s ass in… but it’s just a bad move to fight him when you can fight defenseless Amir Khan in England — knock him out — and then fight Floyd.
That is, if Floyd and Khan will fight. That’s the rub.Posted August 16, 2014 4:01 pm
Man up and fight Pac, Marquez. The man gave you shot after shot and you won’t return the favor.Posted August 16, 2014 3:56 pm
Smart move. Marquez is Top 10 P4P and will knock you OUT IF you’re not smart enough to refrain from jumping ON him. IF you jump on Marquez you will get knocked out.Posted August 16, 2014 3:44 pm
Meantime the cherry picking ducker Adonis Stevenson turned down a 50-50 split to fight Pascal in Montreal, which would’ve been a huge fight. He ran away from Kovalev, refused to negotiate with Bhop, and now turned away Pascal. Pathetic. Any boxing fan who supports Stevenson is crazy. Adonis Stevenson is what’s wrong with this one-time great sport.Posted August 16, 2014 2:29 pm
Don’t fight Marquez in Mexico… That’s as dumb as you can possibly get.
Fight Khan in England. That’s a huge money fight. Knock Khan out in 5 rounds and Floyd should be next.
Beat the crap out of Floyd next year.. i.e. if he’ll fight.. That’s the rub…
Khan & Floyd … TWO CHICKENSHlTS who WON’T TAKE RISKY FIGHTS!!!Posted August 16, 2014 2:04 pm

hibdeebibdee – exactly. In a fight you do what you can to win. People complain about dirty fighters but it’s the ref that should ensure it’s a fair fight. In the USA Porter would be allowed to grapple his opponent, whereas were he the ‘away’ fighter he’d get warned and he’d have to either try another tactic or risk a point deduction. The best boxers are often the ones who can win in their opponent’s back yard and there will always be whispers against boxers who don’t travel.Posted August 16, 2014 2:03 pm
Dont think Porter Like”s their wonderful cuisine.Posted August 16, 2014 1:53 pm
Forget Marquez, if you win you beat an old man, if you lose you lost to a hall of famer/old man. The winner of Porter/Brook should fight the winner of Pacquaio/Algerie or Mayweather/Maidana. If not them than perhaps give a title shot to Garcia, Thurman, Kahn, or even Broner. Instead they may go after a easy payday and beat up on Rios or Guerrero for their next fight.Posted August 16, 2014 1:02 pm
Porter v Marquez would be an even match after all theyre both on pedsPosted August 16, 2014 12:54 pm

Smart choicePosted August 16, 2014 12:09 pm
“He’s been the favourite in every fight of his pro career and always fought in front of a friendly crowd and a ref who’ll allow his roughhouse work.”
Freddie, Porter can be a sneaky dirty little fighter. When he had Paulie in trouble he was “caging” him with his elbows and not allowing Paulie to move out of the line of fire. I was very disappointed that the ref did not call Porter out on these fouls.Posted August 16, 2014 11:35 am

In some ways it would be good to see Porter outside his comfort zone. He’s been the favourite in every fight of his pro career and always fought in front of a friendly crowd and a ref who’ll allow his roughhouse work. Obviously his dad wants him to earn big money and hold the advantages but as a boxing fan I’m more interested in even contests and may the best man win. JMM would be a great scalp, even at this stage of his career. Beating him in Mexico would earn Porter less dollars but more respect – possibly leading to a higher profile.Posted August 16, 2014 11:01 am
Exactly hib..Khan always used to find excuses not to fight Brook. When Brook beats Porter tonight Khan will have nowhere to hide!!Posted August 16, 2014 11:00 am
Exactly hib..Khan always used to find excuses not to fight Brook. When Brook beats Porter tonight u, Khan will have nowhere to hide!!Posted August 16, 2014 11:00 am
Chrisukbtwon, I’d also like to see Brook smash Khan. I’m tired of Khan’s whining.Posted August 16, 2014 10:56 am
If Ken Porter is afraid that fighting in Mexico would give Marquez too big an advantage over Shawn, then Ken thinks Marquez can beat his son. And on the contrary, I think a Marquez/Porter fight in Mexico would be a huge PPV in Mexico. If I were Ken, no matter where they fought, I’d be demanding random drug testing.Posted August 16, 2014 10:56 am
I would love to see Brook fight Khan..Brook would destroy him. Just like Porter would destroy MarquezPosted August 16, 2014 10:25 am
Coming not coin!Posted August 16, 2014 9:45 am
IF BROOK WINS tonight I would love it if he ignores Khan coin to him with his begging bowl.
If Brook wins hopefully he’ll look for bigger and better challenges and leave Khan with the crumbs off his table.
