Posted November 3, 2012 6:09 pmSREDMONDRay Leonard did not become GREAT by saying hey “I can beat Hearns and Hagler” he laced up and booked those wins!! Instead we have V Klits somewhat riding off his brothers coattails and leeching more credit due any boxer who lost a 6 round bout 10 years ago, while becoming the standard bearer for massive tissue damage in the process… I was at the Malignaggi/Cano fight at Barclays and guys were saying they had not seen cut as bad as Canos since Lewis opened Klits up…. If the guy wants credit then go make a fight WAY better than Charr who also went down due to cuts Lol Posted November 3, 2012 5:12 amSREDMONDALOT of Vitali Klitsckos status amongst his fans is built on assumptions as opposed to reality… ” he could beat this person or that one” so let’s just give him the credit due guys who ACTUALLY defeated those fighters… Oh yeah, “if the Lewis fight had gone the way we wanted it then he would have won that too” while we are at it lets throw in Byrd, Ali, Foreman and anyone else we can think of… Thankfully sports works off ACTUAL accomplishments and the truth is that statistically Klits looks good but does not have the names or straps to backup his most ardent fans claims…. It’s old news but guys base about 60% of who Klits off of winning 4 rounds from a guy who others had knocked out… Vitali ain’t all that, he lost to a Great fighter that’s his biggest claim to fame… Posted November 3, 2012 5:01 amrodYes I am calling Sam Peter a bum. He is a short slow fat plodding bum with limited defense. Yes he has massive punching power and yes he had an ok chin till Wlad smashed him silly. Peter does not have the style, skill or athletic ability to compete with tall skilled athletic boxers. He was a walking punchbag for Vitali and was never going to win. Solis was the same. Posted November 3, 2012 12:56 amADI`m not saying Vitali failed or did something wrong on his route up, but equally it`s not really possible to place him at number 1 until after lewis retired, unless you want to put him above Lewis at some point before that due to his showing in that bout, so he hasn`t actually been the no1 boxer in the world for anywhere near as long as Wlad. I can see why people might say he is potentially one of the greatest ever, and that at any point during his career you might have considered him to be capable of beating the guy who WAS no1 boxer in the world, but at almost all times during his actual career there has been someone else around with a better CV – partly at least because they had the opportunity to fight better opponents. There is the assumption that Vitali would simply beat everyone that Wlad beat, and personally I think that is being unfair to Wlad. It actually makes me a little bit sick that so many heavyweights are passing up what might be their only chance to fight an ATG before he retires without absolutely screaming the house down for the fight – it`s a career defining fight for anyone, exactly the type of career defining fight that a young Vitali chased around for years. Posted November 2, 2012 8:00 pmSREDMONDtest Posted November 2, 2012 7:02 pmBeer party aka Unbiased DaneAD says ”It`s actually interesting to consider for exactly how long Vitali would have been considered the no1 HW in the world, since he couldn`t take the role until Lewis retired,” well where did Vitali fail ? because of his injury against Byrd ? come on, Vitali never avoided enyone, he didnt take eny easy path up to the Lennox fight. or just waiting for the champions to grow old. Well apart from that i pretty much agree with the rest of your comment. :-) Posted November 2, 2012 6:11 pmBeer party aka Unbiased DaneAnonymous says ”trying to call sam bum peter anything but a bum is very funny you white boys stick to hockey” piss of with your racist comment. Posted November 2, 2012 5:59 pmADIt`s actually interesting to consider for exactly how long Vitali would have been considered the no1 HW in the world, since he couldn`t take the role until Lewis retired, and he didn`t definitively rip it off Lewis. It wasn`t that much longer later that he retired, and after that point, losses aside Wlad actually built up a much better CV to my mind. I don`t really care about Wlad’s losses so much as the dominance, style and quality of his wins since that last loss – to me Vitali never actually picked up that no1 slot back off Wlad when he came back. It`s a strange situation since prime vs prime I`d pick Vitali over Wlad to win, and I don`t see Wlad getting through 6 rounds of war like Lewis and Vitali had, but fundamentally Wlads best 2-3 victories eclipse Vitali’s, and that won`t change with Vitali fighting people like Charr. I totally understand why they won`t fight eachother, but from a spectacle point of view, and having one true world champion I wish they could have. 2 or 3 fights between the K-bros could have defined the era as a titanic tussle between two of the greatest HOF’ers with each bringing out the best in eachother. Even at 41 the only topfighter calling out Vitali is golddigger Haye.Vitali have to share the opponents with Wlad, and i assume that he is happy to leave some of the better oppoenents to his brother, to help him improve his legacy. But its time for Vitali to take on a very good and dangerous opponent, otherwise he might as well retire. Finally the division is looking interesting Posted November 2, 2012 1:00 amMatt Sullivan“goat,” a silly fool that has to live 9 years in the past. yes, lewis was a great hw and vitali gave him all he could handle. nothing wrong with that. this is klitschko time, lewis had his time and is done. get over it. Posted November 2, 2012 12:43 amrodWlad over the past 5 or so years has faced much better opponents that VItali. Wlad for the last 5 years has been the real champ. Vitali who fought Lewis, Sanders, Kirt Johnson Danny Williams was a beast but when he came back from retirement he was not the same beast. Sam Peter – Bum, Gomez- way past his prime , too small, cant hurt Vitali, Sowsonski – untested unworthy bum who later got smashed but Dimitrenko, Kevin Johnson – all he had was a jab that that got him to the end of 12. Briggs – A total joke, should have never got a shot, embarrassing opponent. Arreola, was a fat walking punchbag. Solis- Too short to reach Vitali, an opponent so fat he hurt his own knee. Ademek, highly skilled but just too small to hurt vitali. Chisora, a man Haye smashed to pieces in 5 rounds. And Charr, a total joke. No sorry when you are the world champ you face the very best fighters out there and looking at these opponents I have to say there are much more dangerous fighters than these guys who are basically either too small or to fat to compete with Vitali. The world has seen 2 Vitalis, the pre retirement Vitali – A lethal killing maching. And a post retirement Vitali – A man fighting easy opponents for his style. At least Wlad is facing Wach, a man bigger than him. Vitali only faced one man his own size and that was a 12 rounds war. Shame we did not see more of that. I am not a vitali hater I am a VItali fan but I am a fan of the pre retirement killing maching. Time to give it up Posted November 2, 2012 12:33 amgoatThe doctor appointed by team klitschko stopped the fight, for vitali’s safety under wbc rules. that face was brutally cut. Posted November 1, 2012 9:37 pmSREDMONDWlad has got a LONG way to go before he has 25 STRAIGHT defenses, I know you guys love to morph the record to accomodate the interruptions Wlad has experienced due to his TKO losses but Louis stood as Champ for what 11 years?? and was successful against 25 challengers to his throne… Call us when Wladdy is closing in on Larry Holmes, Wlads a fine fighter and if he keeps fighting scrubs like Mormeck he might defend 100 times… But as of today, try and accept him for what he is, just like accepting Vitali having his fanstasy smushed by Lewis right hands….
