ozzyI thought Golovkin was already the WBA champ? This superchamp business has got me all mixed up – the WBA are ridiculous. We really need Showtime or HBO to come up with a Super 6 style contest for the middleweights. However I doubt if you’d get the promoters and managers of Chavez Jr, Geale, Golovkin, Martinez, & Quillen to agree to it. It would be great for the fans if they did tho. Posted November 3, 2012 9:58 amdick tigerI just reread my previous post. First let me say that I do love the sport of boxing. The best fighters should be fighting the best fighters. I think that most fans would prefer to see these fights happen instead of hearing about why they are not happening. I miss the time when boxing was a major sport in the United States. I think it would be a big step in the right direction if they would simply make the fights that the fans want to see. All of these fights might not be big money makers but some of them surly would. It would be nice to see someone do something for the good of the sport for a change. Posted November 3, 2012 7:02 amdick tigerImo…I think it is a disgrace when a fighter ranked in the top 3 in the middleweight division can’t get a fight against any of the other top- fighters at middleweight. The promoters have made boxing a business and don’t seem to care that their way of doing business is slowly but surly killing the SPORT of BOXING in the United States. The promoters can still line their pockets from the PPV events and declare that the sport is alive and well. This is BS. The sport has fallen so far in the states that the only place to buy a boxing magazine in my home town is at the sports corner tobacco store. They don’t even cover Championship Fights in the sports page of local newspapers. Promoters wake up and start making the fights that the fans you have left deserve to see. Boxing was once known as The King of Sports now its a crooked a** Business. Posted November 3, 2012 5:53 amVass…W.B.A is a disgrace..How can they have a SuperChamp and a Champ…Then they strip the fighter that won the belt in the ring in Germany and award it GGG..When Geale wins the W.B.C he would be truly the undisputed champion… Posted November 3, 2012 3:36 amTARKNow that he’s a recognized world middleweight champion Golovkin isn’t going to wait around forever for Martinez to heal his 38-year-old knees — only to watch Sergio go off and do another Chavez fight or two — and then wait around for Mayweather or Pacquiao, for a fight Sergio will never get… Grennady can’t wait around forever for an old man like Martinez.. He also feels Peter Quillin doesn’t have the prestige of Martinez, and beating Quillin would accomplish little… 3G feels he has almost no choice but to move up in weight and go after Andre Ward — who will probably fight him because Ward wants to fight the best in the world … First step in Ward’s direction? … Edwin Rodriguez. Posted November 3, 2012 2:03 amHidalgo“If the price is right then to hell with the fighters future” Dick tiger, I’m surprised that Golovkin would even entertain the thought of fighting at 168. Surely he knows his success lies in staying at 160. As for promoters–just press “flush.” Posted November 2, 2012 9:49 pmdick tigerI read where K2 promotions are in talks have GGG face Oosthuizen at 168ibs. Oosthuizen is 6ft 4in. tall . Talk about David vs Goliath. I have never liked to see a fighter moved up and down in weight. IMO this is a damn good way to ruin a fighter. Two examples of this are Roy Jones Jr. and Kelly Pavlik. When they moved back down in weight they were never the same fighter. I had hoped K2 would have GGG compete at his natural weight of 160ibs. until he could no longer make 160lbs. I guess K2 promotions aren’t that much different that the US promoters we have had to put up with for years. If the price is right then to hell with the fighters future. Posted November 2, 2012 8:29 pmADI wouldn`t mind this if the WBA were actually consistent. How long ago did WLad win the WBA title off Haye – and has the WBA ordered a mandatory(e.g. Povetkin)? Jones at Cruiser, Shumenov at LHW – how long ago did they win titles and where are their mandatories? Posted November 2, 2012 4:35 pmLeftHook3G the true champ Posted November 2, 2012 2:07 pmdick tigerK2 is going to have to spend some money to get GGG a fight with one of the top five middleweights. If he does what I think he can do they will have no trouble making their money back. PEEJThats why the belts are Garbage and the Ring Championship belt is the only one that should matter Posted November 2, 2012 12:11 amThe Kirwan KidIt’s obvious the WBA loves Golovkin and as such Geale is being punished for taking the money fight with Mundine due to the actions of his predecessor Felix Sturm. All they had to do was keep it as it is – with Geale as Super Champion, Golovkin as regular champion (having 2 champions is a joke BTW) – and strike a deal that the winner of Mundine Geale had to sign a fight Golovkin within 2 weeks of their bout, for a fight to take place in late May. I have no doubt Geale would look at the fight once he had some more money in the bank. Posted November 1, 2012 10:35 pmnicolasCan’t fault Geale for wanting to avenge his loss to Mundine, plus it is a big affair in Austrailia. Couldn’t Golovkin still fight Pirog, if Pirog wants to fight. Peter Quinlan also said he doesn’t have fear of Golovkin. Posted November 1, 2012 10:32 pmUJelly?Geale knew the deal when he signed to fight Sturm. It’s his prerogative if he wants money and revenge instead of the title. Hey, that’s my bike!!Geale is being punished because Sturm ducked Golovkin for 2 years. What a joke the WBA is with all their ‘interim’, ‘regular’ and ‘super’ champions. Geale is better off without this belt. Posted November 1, 2012 9:45 pmRay RayWhat a croc. Geale does the hard work twice I’n Germany and GGG gets a belt 4 nothing. He hasn’t fought any1 yet. The Geale Mundine fight isn’t exactly an easy 1 4 Geale. Oh well we will c what GGG brings I’n the nxt 12 2 18 months. I think people r getting a bit carried away. Yeah all class WBA. lost most of my respect many years ago, now you’ve lost the last remaining remnants of respect i had. the IBO now ranks higher in my books than WBA. Posted November 1, 2012 8:34 pmPEEJMartinez is the only champ in this division. I would like him to fight the other titlest in the division but doubt he will since he only wanted Chavez and now just wants Floyd so he will hop back on fighting folks that don’t deserve to be in there. But he is the champ and everyone that owns a belt are just titlest Posted November 1, 2012 7:19 pmAnonymousDeGeale would’ve got beaten up badly and he knows it. Posted November 1, 2012 7:16 pmPuglifeUsually hate these kind of sanctioning body machinations but now that GGG has a belt anyone who thinks they’re a champ will have to face him if they want to be taken seriously. He gives anyone in the division hell, including an aging Martinez. Posted November 1, 2012 5:13 pmKoolzI will be hard for boxers and there coaches to duck him NOW! Posted November 1, 2012 5:08 pmDJ DazI can see both sides here, Golovkin wants his shot and Geale wants a big money fight! Now before the few Golovkin fans start calling Geale a coward for not facing GGG, what would you do fight Golovkin for $200,000 or Mundine for $2,000,000??? The sad thing is that in the eyes of the true boxing fans, Golovkin will still just be the interim WBA champion because he didn’t beat the true still active champion!
