Thank you for the kind words, Cutman…I really enjoy writing for ESB…the artistic freedom that Eddy and Mark give means everything to me.

Panamanian will beat the Mexican..Posted November 4, 2012 12:41 pm
@ Joseph Herron. Wow man ur on fire and east side is lucky to hav u! Personally I favoured darchinyan ova mares when they fought and I felt darchinyan was robbed at the time. For that reason I’ve Neva been a huge mares fan, but I gotta say after reading this the kid has a great attitude and ill b paying more attention in future.
BTW Putzadamus, I’m waiting for a legit reply to my demand. So I’ll repeat it for you: I’d like to see you explicitly identify the skills that Moreno has versus those of Mares, and also to define why Moreno’s skills are “more” and better, and how you believe he will defeat Mares. But you won’t give one.
But you won’t because you can’t. You only know how to blow hot air. YOU are the one who doesn’t know SQUAT about boxing. That’s why you cannot go into any detail about how one fighter should fight the other or how one’s skills are superior to the other.
Oh don’t worry about it Huxterdamus, you were exposed a long time ago. A LONG time ago for the liar and fake that you are.Posted November 3, 2012 11:26 pm
“He states that the fighters have the power to ultimately end the promotional cold war…do you guys agree with him?” Well, Joseph, I guess that depends on what the fighter wants and what kind of contract he signs. If the fighter gives full power and authority to a promoter to make his bouts, well, that’s what will happen. I imagine promoter/boxer contracts are quite complex–and intentionally so–in favor of the promoter. But the boxer has to pick a promoter based on what he really wants. Seems to me there is a middle-of-the-road opportunity there that would generate the fights fans most want to see, fights that SHOULD happen, and at the same time allow the principles to make a sizeable purse. So, do fighters have the power to ultimately end the promotional cold war? Yeah. Maybe. Well, kind of….Posted November 3, 2012 11:22 pm
“he will beat Mares.” No he won’t.Posted November 3, 2012 11:12 pm
Btw, what did you guys think of Abner’s comments about the fighters having the ultimate power in the sport. In the article he states that fighters need to stand firm with their respective promoters and demand certain fights to be made. He states that the fighters have the power to ultimately end the promotional cold war…do you guys agree with him?Posted November 3, 2012 3:58 pm
Mares is going to have his hands full in this fight, Tumbo. Moreno is an elite level fighter who just hasn’t received enough recognition in America.
Moreno is one slippery fighter who will cut you in half with angles. very smart fighter. Mares really has to be patient here and not get frustrated if he can’t hit Moreno flush in the first few rounds.
If Mares plans to throw in combination, he has to follow through with letting his hands go while staying in rhythm and not get discouraged…it’s what Moreno depends on.
Mares has to focus on landing shots to the body and chest from mid-range to limit Moreno’s movement. Because there is no way that he’s finding Anselmo’s chin early in the fight.
Very intriguing match-up!!Posted November 3, 2012 3:54 pm
HECDOG, same anlaysis, different outcome. Mares “having his way” with Moreno for even a couple of rounds is gonna be a dangerous time for Moreno but i think Mares will dominate more than a couple of rounds and not fade down the stretch for a late-rounds TKO. i don’t think Mares will be relying on the scorecards for this one.Posted November 3, 2012 2:49 pm
the thing that good about moreno is he good at going to the body to with his straight left to the mid section but he be at the right distance when he throws it he get good leverage on his body shots his arms is pretty longPosted November 3, 2012 2:27 pm
i agree with joseph herron that what mares needs to do to win he cant smother himself he got to be in the right distance to land his shots and body shots it even hard to land body shots on moreno he so good with his upper body movement that what mares like to do is go to the body moreno got good eye hand coordinations the guy look like he can see everything in therePosted November 3, 2012 2:21 pm
I’m really excited for this bout!! This is going to be a chess match throughout, with both men making adjustments during the 12 rounds of action.
I emphasize chess match, because it has the potential to be a tactical bout with both men waiting for their opponents to make a mistake.
If Abner is smart, which he is, he son’t commit all the way inside of Morenos danger zone. He’s made a living off of setting traps for aggressive fighters. Abner should commit to being the aggressor but stop once he gets to his mid range. Mares must use feints and try to make Moreno take the lead while he’s hovering around the mid-range area.
Both men are chameleons and can take the lead and use the ring proficiently.
This is a very intriguing, high level match up!!Posted November 3, 2012 1:53 pm
I think it will be a close fight and I really don’t have any idea who will win however I really like Mares’ attitude – it’s refreshing that he wants to fight the best fighters out there.Posted November 3, 2012 10:50 am
Hecdog- Breaking it down for Haterdalgo is useless. He knows just as much about Boxing as he does about Basketball which is NADA….that’s NOTHING if you don’t speak Spanish. hecdog you are MUCH more knowledgeable than Hissydalgo. YOU agree with ME on your prediction.Posted November 3, 2012 5:24 am
What do you mean for once??? Go take a COUNTING class. You mean for the millionth time. Picking the WINNER is one of MY specialties and telling you HOW and WHY the WINNER will WIN is MY other specialty. The Rios vs Alvarado Fight couldn’t have been broken down any BETTER than I DID it. I’ll tell you HOW and WHY closer to Fight Day. Right now just take MY word for it since you can’t see it for YOURSELF…..Moreno has more SKILLS. Mares must depend on LUCK or CORRUPTION because Moreno’s Boxing IQ is high TOO.Posted November 3, 2012 5:18 am
The Mad Scientist
How is Moreno pulling off the upset..?, from what I’ve read most fans are picking Chemito to win the fight..as far as Im conecern this is somewhat of a 50/50 fight that Im slightly favoring Abner Mares in.Posted November 3, 2012 3:55 am
i drove 5 hours 3 times to see mares fight cause i knew they would be great fightsPosted November 3, 2012 12:29 am
Just once in your life Braggadamus, I’d like to see you explicitly identify the skills that Moreno has versus those of Mares, and also to define why Moreno’s skills are “more” and better, and how you believe he will defeat Mares.
For myself, I’m giving the fight 10 rounds max with a stoppage by Mares. I think Mares is gonna work Moreno over, then get the TKO.Posted November 2, 2012 9:18 pm
“Moreno has more SKILLS.” LOL, here we go!Posted November 2, 2012 9:10 pm
If Darchinyan is the measuring stick for both fighters, then Moreno’s got this fight all but wrapped up. That’s my prediction. Moreno by UD12.Posted November 2, 2012 8:37 pm
It will be good fight and I take Mares by stoppage in the late rounds. Boyt will beat the Cuban but both will lose to Nonito.Posted November 2, 2012 7:50 pm
most of the time the person with the most skills wins the fight but not all the time tho moreno proaly more skilled but abner got heart and mentally tough and his style is renlentess his skills aint bad either when abner was coming up he was a boxer puncher but now it seem like he started to be more agressive nowPosted November 2, 2012 7:03 pm

Abner Mares will make this fight an ugly one if need be, he said so himselfPosted November 2, 2012 7:01 pm
Moreno has more SKILLS. I’ll take Moreno by decision.Posted November 2, 2012 6:52 pm
but moreno is a dangerous fighter he a southpaw slick and crafty fighter he relaxed and poise in there he going to be tough to beat if anybody can do it i think it abner but abner going to have to find a way to make moreno uncomfortable find a way to land his shots he going to take pateince and timing to do thatPosted November 2, 2012 4:45 pm
Thank you, Millwallion!! If there are any fighters that you would like me to do features on that are usually ignored by the other boxing websites, please let me know by emailing me at email@example.com.
Thanks again!!Posted November 2, 2012 4:36 pm
i think this might moreno toughes and hardest fight to abner is no joke looked at his rresume he fought nothing but good fighters he got the heart of a champion abner is smart in that ring then people give him credit for like srminimo said he finds ways to win i like moreno as well im looking forward to this fightPosted November 2, 2012 4:34 pm
Keep up the good work mr herronPosted November 2, 2012 4:31 pm
Special thanks go out to Robert Tibuni of Vaboom Studios for the awesome post fight video!!
Great job, Robert!!Posted November 2, 2012 4:11 pm
Big thanks go out to Abner Mares for his time yesterday. It’s amazing how insightful this special young fighter is when asked the right questions.
I sat through an awful conference call with all of the boxing media’s perceived heavy hitters, and you could almost predict what the fighters’ answers were going to be. I had to contact Abner after his afternoon workout to get more insightful responses.
I hope you guys enjoy the article…it really showcases what an intelligent fighter Abner truly is.Posted November 2, 2012 3:23 pm
Mares doesn’t do anything spectacular, but somehow he beats people up. This is his biggest and hardest fight to date, and Moreno looks like a superstar, but I would not be terribly surprised if Mares finds a way to make this an ugly fight and pulls out the victory.Posted November 2, 2012 3:21 pm
