Has Judah been in on Lara’s camps, because that crap was vintage Judah.

what’s “funny” HERRON, is you being so aloof as to casually assign somebody else’s posts to me. otherwise, it wasn’t and still isn’t Me calling Chavez Jr. a “fraud”. you need to get your catty feuds straight.

Lara was doing a Bernard “dirty” Hopkins to Vanes all night long

Posted November 15, 2012 9:52 pm

Didn’t anybody else see all the illegal stuff Lara was doing> Not to mention that he stunk out the joint.

Posted November 15, 2012 9:03 pm

Let me whack Lara full force in the nuts and choke him out a little and see what he fights like afterwards.

great to see top fighters fight each other and use their ability in the ring instead of just talking….with so many champions now , both should be able to get a shot at a title and make their own mark instead of worrying who Canelo is fighting….get one of the alphabet titles and over-shadow the other champs in your division including Canelo…that will eventually force a fight with all other champs…just look at Froch , lost to Ward but still has a fan base that will pay to see him fight, regardless who he fights

hookoffthejab

canelo as “we” know hasnt even fought anyone of note at 154 not ONE so what are we judging his ability on that he would be able to beat either these two ?On another note a little birdy told sam soliman is going to be heading over to germany to face felix sturm should be interesting if that happens ……

i never they didn deserve credit for facing each other i just said they both didn perform at there best maybe it was styles i pick lara to beat vanes i just expected more from lara maybe it was cause his right hand broke idk but they both still good fighters and top fighters at 154

REM

Joseph yeah man in an era where we mostly get exhibitions of a premiere fighters talents against lesser opposition i cherish these true competitive championship fights to few and far in between.

Posted November 15, 2012 3:04 pm

Jospeh Herron

Well stated, REM!! Both fighters, Vanes and Erislandy, are credits to the sport and would be a tough outing for anyone at 154…even Canelo.

These guys deserve much more credit than they’re getting for facing each other.

Imo this fight was for the lineal jmw tittle and besides the early stoppage it lived up to it. I dont even rank Canelo ive never seen him fight a jmw and have been watching him since either Hatton or Rhodes whichever fight was 1st. Not his fault its GBs but it is what it is.Back to the fight Vanes showed y hes ranked where he is but Lara was pulling away and showed y hes the class of the division.

It’s pretty funny, Tumbo…you were calling Chavez Jr. a fraud when he was 41-0-1. Why the proclamation of greatness now?

Posted November 15, 2012 2:05 pm

mrpleaseplease

what would everyone think if gennedy moves down to 154? ah oh is right. ggg may end up movin up instead of down but with the way things are now with no one wanting to fight him he might have a better chance at 54 securing several good fights. If it does happen and ggg moves down, mayweather will retire and gennedy will clean everyone, and i mean everyone out. i know it’s a long shot, but i sure hope it happens.

for the umpteenth time, Lopez was a substitute who earned the shot and would quickly agreed to terms after defeating third replacement Ortiz who replaced Kirkland who replaced Williams (Cotto was on “vacation”). it’s b.s. to insinuate that Canelo didn’t make a good-faith effort to challenge the tested and proven 154lbrs of which Molina is the only one who will give him serious problems (conventional v. crafty and unorthodox). after last Saturday, what more do you need to see to know that Lara won’t? Btw, 41-0 is an indicator of breakaway talent and Alvarez’s body-attack is an example of breakaway skill. greatness awaits but defeating Lara won’t necessarily prove it.

Canela sticks to fighting 140lb-147lb fighters & old men at 154lb what a joke.

El. Viagra

I think that the only one’s that should grow any balls is Canelo and Golden Boy promotions ,,both of them are terrify of any kind of competition in the actual 154 lbs weight division …

Posted November 15, 2012 3:02 am

El. Viagra

To Te Tumbo ,,and what kind of break away talent has Canelo shown ,,,who has Canelo fought that he does not have to worry about guys like Lara or Molina ,or Martirosyan ,, What !! he beat an old Mosley ,, he beat the brother of Ricky Hatton ,, For a title ,come on now this Canelo guy is a joke ,,

Posted November 15, 2012 2:57 am

sal.o

If Canelo has nothing to worry about Lara ,then why didn’t he fight him when they were looking for an opponent ..instead of fighting a Jr. welter weight in his last fight ..

Posted November 15, 2012 2:51 am

Jack Dempsey

I had Lara winning the fight until it got stop ,,,but Martirosyan has a hell of a chin on him ,,he definitely got tag a number of times ,,and he still took them well.

“Lara is a superb defensive southpaw that would give Canelo fits”(?). the tentative, backpedaling, pot-shotting southpaw? THAT was Lara in inaction and if it’s power that Lara fears? that’s Canelo’s strength. Btw and IMO, that was the book on Lara before his bout v. Vanes but it’s becoming chronic. it would’ve been encouraging if the experiences had resulted in a more confident and poised Lara but instead he struggled to assert himself v. a hard-charging Martirosyan who is himself unproven. to the degree that many on these threads assumed a dominant win for Lara. consequently, tested but unproven is what i consider Lara and he doesn’t demonstrate any breakaway talent that Canelo needs to worry about. anticipate with pleasure? yes, but nothing to worry about.

just because vanes didn look good against lara dnt mean canelo wouldn maybe canelo will looked worse maybe he wont whenever they do fight then we will find out will we lara and vanes are good fighters i aint taken that away from then but they didn perform i doubt anybody want to see a rematch

“they both have now fought tougher opposition at 154 than Canelo Alvarez”. Molina is the toughest competition that any of them have fought and unless he experiences a severe lapse in dedication, Molina is the dark horse of the division. yeah, Lara faced Molina but Why Won’t he rematch him? that matchup was inconclusive in Molina’s favor. in this situation, i must apply the Mares Standard and if Lara’s got more heart than ambition, he needs to clean that s**t Up. Molina is available. what better way to redeem an ambiguous performance? which is yet another mess he needs to clean up. in fact, Lara is leaving quite a trail of varied messes in his professional wake. i suspect that his ambition is greater than his Heart (the f’n amateur). anyway, even if it only developed in “Mexico”, 41 (KO 30) + lost 0 (KO 0) + draw 1 = 42, is not an indicator of mediocrity. in fact, that is the typical profile of Mexican greats. you must’ve forgot(?).

Anonymous, how tdo you know Canelo won’t look worse against one of the best fighters in the division? What makes you think Canelo will look any better against an awkward counterpuncher like lara?

Styles make fights and so does class.

I believe Angulo will clean out 154 mark my words…

that true vanes and lara fought tougher fighters at 154 then canelo did i agree with that but it still dnt take away how they both perform tho but i aint going to hold that against them they both still good fighters that will give anybody at 154 a tough fight it easy to say canelo will beat both but canelo got to prove it in the ring tho against them

LOL at this headline. For all Lara’s tough guy schtick at the weigh in, he sure got on his bicycle when the bell rang.

Tumbo, that’s what most have been asking for in the 154 pound weight division for a while.

Tournaments should be configured at 40, 54, and 60.

We would have two or three years of amazing match-ups in those three divisions alone.

Say what you will about Vanes and Lara, but remember…they both have now fought tougher opposition at 154 than Canelo Alvarez; who has only fought one natural 154 pound fighter…ever.

“I believe Martirosyan defeated Lara once… and he will do it again.” Huh? Is that really you Boxtradamus? You sick?

Posted November 14, 2012 7:37 pm

Vanes should fight Angulo and Lara should grow a pair and rematch Molina. Winners face each other to face the winner of Alvarez v. Cotto and/or Kirkland. that’s the plan for unification and undisputed 154lb supremacy. bottomline, both of these dudes need to do something impressive to generate interest for another matchup under the bright lights of an HBO fight-card. otherwise, they both failed to display the breakaway talent that would put them in Canelo’s title bracket.
