Boxers shouldn’t do barbells.. They should only do dumbbells because they isolate the arm muscles better, allow you to rotate your wrists on bench presses, and they don’t build out your chest. They’re much harder to control but your arms can move independently of each other and you can do things like putting one dumbbell skyward as high as you can while the other hangs at your side, and keep switching them. It’s a difficult exercise Jack Johnson learned from Eugene Sandow and used to build his great arm strength which was key to his infighting prowess.
