People are expecting WAY too much out of Flintoff… He’s been training for 4.5 months and he never pulled on anything but a sparring glove before. He didn’t freeze, he fought hiss ass off, and he got a win.. The 3 most important things.

He didn’t look very strong.. He didn’t look like he was in super condition.. He needs to work on those items because he’s not going to be out-finessing and out-boxing guys very soon. But there no excuse for not being in shape and not being strong.

Greedy

Flintoff is tax exile in Dubai, earns too much money, doesn’t even live in the UK.

Fight Aficionado

“Where Does He Go Next?” – Back to cricket I presume. There’s no future for him in boxing, though the underage chicks in England seem to get their drawers all wet about him. So maybe his next step is becoming a pimp, gigalo or singer in a boy’s band.

Tark, you live in the USA, this is Flintoff, it is not Boxing, it is pathetic, Dawson could of knocked him out, so what, it was a circus, it was not Boxing, you need to follow Cricket more, 5 day test matches, they are good, if you follow Cricket, it’s a long game.

And Haye is still awaiting a possible shot at Vitali… Vitali said he’d wait until sometime in December to decide on whether or not he’ll retire… Haye has other options if he does.

You don’t have to have a direct line to Dawson’s brain to know he wasn’t trying to tank this fight.. Just use your brain.. He landed a potential KO pounch with that knockdown, and he fought a close fight while taking a lot of punishment.. If you’re going to tank why not make a one round job of it??? Plenty of fights end in the first round.. There’s no reason to suggest Flintoff’s victory might not be legitimate.

That knockdown was a fluke because Flintoff wrongfooted himself while throwing punches and Dawson managed to hit him on the side of the jaw. Flintoff showedlack of experiecne. It didn’t hurt hence he got up while in the rolling motion. But he did let the ocassion get to him. Too eager to win was fault. His right hand technique needs working but left is pretty good. This bout will give him a world of confidence, not to mention video footgae to study how he can improve for the next fight.

Just saw Tyson Fury fight and it was a bore.

@Tark If you read the article there is no suggestion that Haye is on the same level as Harrison, just that both are no longer in the frame – but Fury definitely is. Is that true or do you know more than anyone else? If so, please share. I think Haye was a geat fighter, world champion, now in the Jungle, possibly retired. Congratulations on having a direct line to Dawson’s brain.

Tark, Flintoff fight, it was a circus, no interest for Boxing fans, Flintoff used to play Cricket, he wasn’t the best at that compared to Botham, Willis, Boycott, etc, etc nowhere near it, just aload of rubbish

He should fight Ricky Ponting at a catchweight.

One thing Freddie did do was turn up in shape like every ”professional” fighter should do. Shame the occasion got to him as he showed a lot of nervous energy bouncing around and throwing punches wildly. He looked a lot better when he was relaxed in his sparring sessions.

If he carries on and does really well could have a shot at the northen area title. Lots of improvement needed but what ever fred does best of luck to him. Got some nuts to get in a ring anyway. Top guy

That fighter he fought could of knocked him out, he was not going to do that.

Sorry, Gonzo. The only fighter who was the truth was Carl Williams.

In to retirement

Nothing wrong with a tough guy trying to make a few bucks getting starched. A few more training camps and he could make a few bucks fighting Kimbo leftovers. Hell, he could rack up a few more of these types of wins and challenge Kimbo as the biggest glass jawed fraud.
