Cali Trainer

GGG has expressed interest in and has stated he will come down to 54 to fight these guys because the middle weight DIV is void of willing opponents. Everyone knows the serious threat GGG poses and most are not willing to fight him. I pick him over any middleweight now and any 54 at the moment.

if ggg is as good as you think cali trainer he has to ko his opponets and keep calling for martinez to unify the middle weight tityle

Posted December 6, 2012 3:11 am

Trainer, GGG is a middleweight. Trout and Canelo aren’t even done with the jr. middleweight division yet. Why would you want them to move up a division?

Trainer From Cali

Lets see trout or canelo make a statement and fight GGG.

It’s Me, Ernie

The biggest draws in the sport by far are not Latino. Manny, Floydie and the sisters are huge as far as $$ draw is concerned.

I a fan of alverez butI hope he behaves like a champion as a champ he should fight trout and not look like a ducker I like cotto he is a game good fighter. But he has lost 2 in a row what does a rising( CHAMP}have to gain by beating Cotto now I know no one wants to fight a crafty lefty like trout and if alvarez wants to avoid him for a little while he should not fight cotto at this time it will make him look like a coward and a cherry picker some thing I hope he not

Congrats to Trout he totally defied my expectations and bested Cotto handily… This guy is going to be a spoiler at 154 and possibly 160….He is BIG at this weight and Cotto looked physically overmatched in there and never figured out an effective plan of attack against the longer reach, bigger body and faster hands of Trout.. Hopefully this guy gets a chance to make some money after dispatching an elite opponent in clear fashion.

Wow, way to use the most terrible example ever. Pacman vs Mosley was a pointless fight and the epitome of everything that stinks about boxing today.

I would rather see Canelo vs Trout because I won’t enjoy watching a living legend get smashed up in a division which he seems a bit small for.

Yes, I do believe what Ernie says,
Mayweather vs Trout is a too sooner ,unless Mayweather wanted to make a Rocky Story happen in real life. I am not a fan of Mayweather , But that is for other reasons , Nothing would please me more then to see a guy like TROUT , Knock the crown off his head..But I do Respect what he has done in the Ring Of Fire . He deserves the respect , and maybe one more fighter a well ,, to make up his own mind , weather to fight a guy or not and not be tauwnted for it .. So lets not go into the fantasy Video game stuff..That is the WWE’S Territory…LOL

What ever happen to the saying, To be the man, you got to beat the man as Bret Hart even said.I know this isn’t wrestleing but in Brooklyn when you hit someones ass that is on top,you become the man.Now i understand about fight up to getting a shot at a title, but not when you had beaten someone for one, to say he isn’t deserving of it or hasn’t got fan base.Well when you beat guys on top you get them. The Belt what your telling me doesn’t mean squat. If it is just about the names lets just throw the Belts away, and boxing can be the new Sports Entertainment .Weather Cotto was bad that night,or this guy has got more fans then that guy .. You get fans by winning and beating the best.A guy got to be giving some props for beating Cotto. His creditbilty speaks for himself. After all , the only Trout i knew was the rainbow one in the lake..Now, I know TROUT the fighter , from the Cotto fight , and A kid with lots of heart , and someone I would pay to see..so Give him Canello and Let someone else join in, to pick up the fans that are searching for another HERO ..

‘NO Doubt’ vs.. ‘One Time’!

The El Paso Fight Prophet

You all are Canelo fan boys, You are ridiculous in your views and I will make this clear one more time. Demand the best vs the best, Mayweather vs Trout for the best at 154. It’s time Mayweather fights a real fighter, Who was ortiz before the mayweather fight. A quitter who got lucky against Berto got a so called mayweather fight. Who has canelo beat to get the so called mayweather fight. Now Trout just dominated Cotto on his home ground and on Showtime in front of everybody.

Bradley vs Cotto next and Canelo vs Trout must happen.

Canelo-(mayweather or trout) 2013!

Posted December 5, 2012 7:36 am

The El Paso Fight Prophet

I demand the Proven Mayweather vs the Proven Trout. You want to see the best vs the best and there you have it. Trout and Mayweather are the best at 154 so why is everyone here crying about canelo. Let Canelo cherry pick while trout moves on to bigger things. Eventually they will all have to meet but its about the best vs the best right now.

Posted December 5, 2012 1:00 am

swan

154 is not Mayweathers weight class. Trout didn’t call out Money Canelo is, the Ghost is getting pub because hes’ at 147 and GBP trying to avoid the Canelo Mayweather bout as for Trout not getting the chance at Canelo bcuz trout hasn’t proving himself is contradictory Canelo hasn’t fought anybody everybody haveto pound on each other like bute waiting on winner of the super six

Posted December 5, 2012 12:39 am

I agree, it is an obligation to fight the best. Do you think this logic should also apply to floyd? Or is it ok for him to fight guerrero?

Posted December 5, 2012 12:30 am

Te Tumbo- You’re funny dude. All the guys you mention: Trout, Lara, Molina, Martirosyan, and Angulo have faced better opposition than Canelo, but they’re the unproven ones? Plus you approve of a Cotto-Canelo match-up even after he lost to Trout.

i have no interest in watching junior fight anyone el boffoo from el passo would love to watch canelo fight a top (5) 154 though …………

The El Paso Fight Prophet

I am the fight prophet from El Paso and I have been spot on with all my predictions here. I have read this article and the comments. What I don’t understand about the article and most comments here is why is there no out cry for mayweather trout to happen. They are both in the same weight class and If hes is the best he should face the best. Trout is good and so is Canelo but Mayweather is eyeballing another light weight in guerroero and no one cry’s foul. Canelo and Trout are both young and have plenty of time to get it on but mayweather is fixing to retire with out facing the best in his weight. How bout Mayweather Vs Trout, I will buy that ppy what do you think.

Rudy the Ram

Making the trout v. Alvarez fight is the only way you can save boxing. I just think if the promoters worked at improving the over all appeal of the sport which is anything can happen, you would get a wider audience than simply building up 1 or 2 mega fights that don’t matter but to the guy trying to put a name on his resume. No one wants to see that anymore. How many people thought liston was goin to ko Ali? Ali won and the legend was born. Im not saying trout is destined for all time greatness, but let the new guys have there say. its time the promoters started putting some real emotion back into this beautifully brutal balletic sport. we don’t need to see continued manufactured.drama, its the sports nature, its time we let this sport shine.

Don’t worry. That fight will NEVER HAPPEN. If Floyd retires for good; there is NO WAY he will come back and risk his record. It’s his pride and joy!!!!! GBP is wack that’s all I have to say about that.

again what happened to fighting Mayweather? the truth is they gbp don’t intend to fight Mayweather until 2014 by then mayweather would definately be older and maybe retired then subpar boxing fan would say he’s running with his 0

Posted December 4, 2012 10:40 pm

OCTAVIUS72

FINALLY; An article on here that makes sense. I TOTALLY AGREE that Cotto is FINISHED and that a fight with Trout is NECESSARY for Alvarez to prove himself. And for those who say that Trout would lose just because Cotto won a few rounds; keep in mind that STYLES make fights. If anything; Cotto and Alvarez have the exact same styles and I think the fight would be VERY INTERESTING. But we all know what’s going to happen because GBP have already been seeking a fight with Cotto right after the bout. Look at Schaeffer ass all in the dressing room with Cotto after he got beat talking crap about the scores. I had it 117-11 for Trout. Cotto did not throw not ONE SINGLE COMBINATION in this fight. Trout peppered him all night long with the jab. I’m glad the judges did not allow their thoughts of what was going on with that fight to be swayed by the emotion of the crowd. Of course they booed the decision. IT WAS A PRO COTTO CROWD FOR GOD SAKES!!!!! He got OUTBOXED!!!!!

How is Canelo ducking anyone ..when its Canelo who’s asking for Mayweather fight…trout is gonna have to wait in line just like Canelo is waiting in line for a Mayweather fight.

Posted December 4, 2012 10:15 pm

That was a horrible example of Mosley PAC because that fight was atrocious and shouldn’t have been made. If anything, you’re sproving the point that champions should fight the winners not losers of matches. That fight was a stinker.

Posted December 4, 2012 10:08 pm

JoelMTL

Haha I fully agree with that logic

Posted December 4, 2012 10:03 pm

RNS

Also I am not understanding people talking about Trout be “unproven”. Alvarez himself is unproven in my opinion because if beating a 40 year old shot to pieces Mosley, lucky lightweight Lopez, Alfonso Gomez and Magic Matthew Hatton makes you a proven fighter then boxing is genuinely screwed.

Posted December 4, 2012 9:59 pm

JoelMTL

Cotto is world class and one of my current favorite fighters … but an all time great? C’mon meow. Let’s just say one of the better fighters of this era … that’s fair :)

Posted December 4, 2012 9:53 pm

RNS

mexica76, we all know what happened with Vanes and Lara that is not the point, the point is even after Cotto is beaten (and beaten well) GBP are still trying to push Alvarez Vs Cotto. it is a pointless fight, Cotto was crying in prefight interviews and talking about retiring and spending time with his family and let’s be honest he fought like somebody semi retired. Trout on the other hand is a champion that is young, unbeaten and hungry and GBP do not want young Alvarez in with anybody that represents any sort of real danger. it’s the names they are mentioning and trying to put out there that is the issue not the WBC, mandatory defenses and rematches between Lara and Vanes, it about the direction Alvarez is going in my opinion.

Titopa- how come you don’t bash the Arce/Donaire bout with the same enthusiasm you do Canelo vs whoever they put him in the ring against..?? Btw didn’t you pick Canelo to win over Trout if that fight gets made..if Alvarez is so unproven and everything his done to this point is a false sense of accomplishment in your eyes shouldn’t you be picking a natural 154lbser like Trout to whoop Kid Cinnamon’s ass..wow! I thought you were a realistic.

Btw, who checked Trout’s handwraps? Cotto looks as bad or worse than he did after the Margarito beatdown(?!).

Posted December 4, 2012 8:42 pm

te tumbo

TITOPA, you sound silly asserting the sanctity of “titlist” and “titles”. fight-fans are much more interested in the matchups rather than the titles at stake. after all, if an “official” title isn’t available, they’ll simply make one up, e.g., “Silver-Diamond-Super-Duper-Champion of the Decade” at a catchweight, if necessary. anyway, the only obligation that “titlists” adhere to these days is targeting the most profitable matchups. honoring an official title or weight-class is optional thanks to your boy Pacquiao*.

Posted December 4, 2012 8:40 pm

te tumbo

i agree that Trout defeating Cotto proves nothing in terms of how well or poorly he would do v. Alvarez. it’s called “unproven” and a premature matchup v. Canelo now would be as anti-climactic as Eddie Chambers’ performance v. a Klitschko. a matchup that many American “experts” were insisting would be competitive. why? because he was American? i can detect the same nationalistic bias emerging on behalf of Trout. bottomline, after 40+ fights and no defeats, Canelo has earned the right to a significant payday and while Cotto insists on remaining active, he comes closest to fitting that description. meanwhile, the rest of the uprovens should prepare to stop avoiding each other and prove themselves worthy of a PPV payday v. Canelo. most likely AFter Alvarez collects the remaining scraps of Cotto’s scalp for his own ring-profile. without the likes of Cotto and Quintana clogging-up the 154lb pipelines, the path is clear for Trout, Thurman, Lara, Molina, Martirosyan, and Angulo to sort each other out in time to face Canelo in the Fall of 2013.

Posted December 4, 2012 8:31 pm

Titopa

Gato – Canelo has the obligation of a “titlist” to fight the best…if he wants to fight and learn, he should vacate his title and then he can fight whoever his little heart desires.

The last scene of Canelorita cowardice was hilarious:
By the time Trout was calling him out: “Canelo, Te quiero amigo….”
Canelorita had already vanished into Oscar’s fishnet…..lol
The guy might even be a sprinter….
I did not think I would ever witness that from a Mexican!

Primo, the Author Eric Roman should be commended for his courage! If boxing had a handful courageous writers who are willing to challenge de mafia-like boxing establishment, boxing would be in a better state!
Look at this ESPN slouch, another red-bearded fat sleeper, he spends his time tweeting, zero analysis, zero insight, zero personal opinion; always massaging the crooked establishment. like an addicted whore….Dan Rafael, is his name….

Secundo, Canelorita is not Mexican by way of blood….
I would bet my right hand! What? A Mexican?
Carrot-head plus cowardice are certainly not Mexican attributes!

Author is spot on 100% the only people that dont want 2 c Alvarez vs Trout don’t care about boxing, just care about Alvarez not getting beat. Trout is 2 dangerous 4 Alvarez. The kid has said several times he wants 2 unify, so go 4 it.

Posted December 4, 2012 7:51 pm

Spot on. I’ve been saying this about Canelo since he “won” his title. The kid might wanna fight, but he’s being protected like NO OTHER by Golden Boy. They will make sure their cash cow doesn’t lose.

Cotto is to robotic, he wiil lose against Alvarez. I won’t pay wouldn’t even care to watch. He looked mediocre after a good show against Mayweather. Trout is the name now, if not rematch is better.

Trout-Canelo a fight that needs to happen, for the sake of boxing. Not Cotto. Boxing fans is time to demand what people wants, not the boxers and promoters. Who pays all the millions? Fans money together equal millions. Canelo after 40 something fights prove to the world like Chavez did. You are not a fluke.

Posted December 4, 2012 7:06 pm

Canelo and Trout is the natural next fight, but if business prevents it they’re both young enough to do it next year or even in a few years from now. Not the end of the world. And Cotto-Alvarez would be fun to watch, even if I expect Cotto to be sent into retirement and probably stopped by the younger man.

there are not to many fighters in boxing anymore just a bunch of athletes trying to get paid the easist way they can. Bring back the warriors of the past who fought anyone they put in front of them.

The Mad Scientist

At the end of the day if Canelo wants to cash in by fighting the big name fighters before theymre completely out the business so be it..time is on Alvarez side so hemll eventually fight everyone the haters want him to fight..I don’t like it either but it is what it is.

If Canelo fights Cotto, DLH never intended to correct mboxing, but use his name to exploit boxing like Arum and King have and worse. Because these two would at least entertain by putting two young champions to deliver, explosion, skills, hearts, durability in the ring Hearns-Leonard1, Duran-Leonard 1, Pryor-Arguello.

Posted December 4, 2012 6:59 pm

Scott

I agree with you and the author RNS. Canleo or rather his handlers need to step up the competition. If you’re going to try and put him on a PPV the least they could do is do it against an dangerous if not elite talent. I like Canelo quite a bit and love his power but the man only fights names past their best, guys moving up in weight, and nobody’s so in my eyes the guy has a lot to prove before they start asking us to pay for his fights. Kirkland, Angulo, Lara, Golovkin, and a few others would be acceptable Canelo opponents and he should fight these types of fighters if the Trout thing doesn’t happen.

Posted December 4, 2012 6:01 pm

Trout vs Canelo is the only fight that makes sense, at least where Canelo is concerned. Make it happen guys. Cotto showed that he can’t pull the trigger when he needs too and didn’t look anything like he used to.

Posted December 4, 2012 5:57 pm

I agree with the author, Alvarez is protected and GBP are once again mugging the fight fans. in my opinion it is quite simple really…do not watch Alvarez until he starts fighting worthy challengers.

No disrespect to Trout, he came with a plan and executed it. But Cotto was bad! His timing was off and his punches had no snap whatsoever, the guy is done and should retire. The last thing he needs is a fat payday to take a monster beating by young Canello. As for Trout, he would also loose to the Mexican Ginger. Case in point, he lost the first couple of rounds, till Cotto tired out and stopped applying proper pressure. Canello will apply pressure non-stop, for 12 rounds.
