O’Connor is talented, but he is flawed. He needs to go the ESPN2 route and get some on air hype a several 2nd and 3rd fights before going on to a someone real serious.

Its a giant leap from Eddie Soto to DeMarcus Corley. O’Connor shouldnt rush into a fight against someone on that level quite yet, but he also shouldnt be called world class yet.

O’Connor seems to be doing better under Shields. Good for him, but he is a long way from the bigtime. Promoting his fights on the same bill as rock concerts and soccer games leaves out the actual boxing fans. I have sat through countless small hall fight cards, some of them awful, trying to support boxing in New England. I will not sit through a soccer game or listen to ear splitting music to see a bad card of boxing.

New England boxing fans typically show strong support to their fighters, top echelon or not. Peter Manrfredo Jr. used to pack them in to the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence. Best of luck to O’Connor.

CHOP CHOP Forget O’connor for now, DIBella is trying to build this kid up and Shields would never allow it. “Momma didn’t raise no fool amigo and Ronnie is no fool. The way you took care of Bracero (who SHUTOUT O’conner last year on national TV) and then home town hero McCloskey in Ireland means only one thing, you AINT gettin’ a piece of this kid ’til about 2015, no sooner. You’ll have better luck trying to sell him some of those outfits you design than calling him out. Peace Chop!
