MASTER PO

pacquaio will never be the same fighter, once he gets hit hard again in the face he will be mentally and physical drained. Plus he was knocked out in midair and hit face flat forward, brain trauma.

Hopkins should stay away himself, against Dawson he looked like a real old man. He still getting another shot.

Hagler knocking him out, also Barkley. Sugar Ray was a TKO. Was Hearns able to comeback? Yes indeed and great comeback winning 5 weight classes, fighting A opposition at all times.

The Pack-Man has proven that he will NEVER be on the level as Floyd Mayweather JR. His fight with JMM is a sure Classic cause I Loved It when “He got knocked the f*** out!!”

I gotta agree with Hop on this one…in recent history we have seen this with the likes of Hatton and Williams and especially RJJ and Taylor. When you get disconnected like that, the brain needs time to recover, regardless of how the body feels.

Could it be because PAC was on roids himself? I’ve never seen a guy come up so much in weight and still bring his power with him.

Fred

Not exactly. Against Barkley he was knocked down flat on his back. He wobbled up and got knocked through the ropes. Ringsiders kept him from falling on his back to the floor. Against Hearns he fell straight back and was out.

Manny Pacquiao was a major user of PEDS/ steroids in the period after he lost to Erik Morales and just after he hammered Antonio Tony Margarito… He gave up using PEDS/ steroids in an attempt to be clean for when testing came around in a potential future bout with Floyd Mayweather…. His camp even brought up the question of what sanctions would befall them if Manny turned up positive after testing!!!! Manny is the fool who got hoisted by his own petard…. If he had proven himself clean he could then have tested all fighters who would face him, but he can’t because he is the King of the PED. IMHO it serves him right and I had a premonition that his would come down like a house of cards…. He will never be the same after such a bad KO and especially if his puppet master Bob Arum hurries him back into the ring…. Concussions are so serious that he needs at least 9 months away from any sparring in the gym, let alone fighting again! His health is more importatnt than future wealth, but when you dabble with PEDS you don’t really care about such matters!!!!!! On his own head be it!!!!!

As E in Denver, already posted, Manny’s style will be a major hurdle for him. Well he had an awesome run, and a great career. Hopefully he won’t be getting knocked out like that anymore.

Can someone refresh my memory on any elite fighter in recent history coming back from huge KO’s like Manny received? I know both Duran, and Hearns went on to do pretty well after getting knocked cold, but other than that can’t think of anyone right now who’s bounced back without transitioning into a mediocre fighter.

I agree with Hopkins. Knock outs like that usually haunt fighters for the rest of their career, especially when they happen late in a fighters career. Time will tell though.

Hopkins does NOT get knocked out because he has one of the BETTER defenses in boxing history and a damn good chin.. You cannot win over 50 pro fights by only holding and if YOUNG boxers cannot free themselves from an OLD man and pound him, all credit to Hopkins…

Manny might be slobbering and drooling like Freddy Roach

hop doesnt get knocked out because all he does is hold

Posted December 13, 2012 3:16 pm

Like it or not Hops is probably right. Pac’s style relied heavily on his solid chin. The accumulation of damage from previous fights, Pac’s age as well as the concussive KO he suffered in this last fight does not look good for the future. Brain injuries are erratic & once you get KO’d like this you are more vulnerable to be KO’d again. Joe Mesi, Roy Jones Jr are a couple of examples. At the very least Pac needs time off to recover & then focus more on defense when he does come back.

Hopkins doesn’t think Pacquiao will ever be the same after his KO loss to Marquez
