“When he ducked by demanding double the money a month or so ago . . .”(?). i thought he “ducked” Canelo(?) per Wolfe’s instructions and concerns for Kirkland not being 100% for the scheduled bout v. Alvarez, which sounded like a realistic objection to me back then but i Have decided to go out on a limb on behalf of Wolfe’s credibility. a gamble in this fight-game of ours but i just sense that Wolfe is without guile. just listen to her candor before, during, and after a bout. nothing calculated or ingratiating about it. Hell(?!), apparently even Kirkland has had it with the Truth.

i agree that Wolfe is able to recognize and bring the best out of Kirkland, which is NOT a skilled never mind masterful boxer but a powerpunching menace with the ability to KTFO of any opponent. that is the best albeit flawed fighter that Kirkland can ever be and Wolfe deserves credit for avoiding the hype or delusion and keeping it Mf’n real.

seems like more is going on than what is said…james knows he is about average without wolf, maybe he is just tired of pushing himself that much, but it is not like they havent lived up to their end of the bargain, james have a excellent record, and a title shot with canelo, most fighter dont even get that chance with better ability and more punching power, hell archie moore fought over 80 times before he got a title shot

Kirkland looking to blame everyone but himself for his lackluster performances. No surprise. He’s going nowhere except prison.

Early on, I thought James Kirkland was going places. Now I think it will be very, very difficult for him to get his groove back. I hope he does.

Depending of what promotional team lands Kirkland will determine how well he does. TMT would be great for Kirkland. Top Rank, not so much.

Fight Aficionado

Probably true. TMT could be trying to apply the Al Hymen approach, duck anyone who can hurt you, cherrypick weak comp, force HBO to televise garbage fights by extorting them with the photos of HBO suits doing dirty things with strippers. When he ducked by demanding double the money a month or so ago it reeked of such tactics. If this is the TMT approach they’re not changing the game. Because it’s nothing different than the garbage we’ve seen for the past decade.

Ike Ibeatahoochie

This is the correct spelling.

My bet and regrettably is that JK will end up in jail. Remember the great heavyweight contender Ike Iabuchi (spelling error)? I’m not saying JK was that good but he could have gone somewhere with the crop of aging fighters we have today.

He didn’t “destroy” Angulo?

NOPE HE’S GONNA GET PICKED UP BY FERRARI AND MONEY TMT PROMOTIONS

Kirkland has great power but he could never fight and the only thing Wolf can say in the corner is ‘go get that mthr fckr’. That camp was a sideshow. If somebody can teach him some boxing fundamentals to go with his power he could luck up and ko a contender or two. MaGirt maybe.

Kirkland, seems to have a hard time focusing. This guy will probably end up getting in trouble again, anyway. He seems to have a gift for conflict, outside of the ring.

Wanting to switch promotional companies [probably TMT] I can understand, but don’t think leaving Ann is a good idea at all. She seemed to bring out that X-Factor. Yeah he can find a more experienced trainer, but something about them just seemed to work. But who knows he could get everything straight and tear up 140/147. Either way he is very talented and Kirkland v Angulo is one of my favorite fights.

The Best!

Kirkland hasnt even fought that much and stutters way too much, not sure if its due to boxing or what. He is a class C fighter and nothing else.

Seriously? Kirkland has huge potential. Very sad to see him create his own drama… over and over.

Tark – You are right boxing does play favorites….which shows you why he “beat” Molina (and shouldn’t have). Plus…he didn’t “destroy” Angulo….he showed a lot of heart and beat him, after almost getting knocked out himself. I think the boxing world has be very gracious towards Kirkland (a little too gracious).

Oh well, now you will never get a shot at Canelo.

James Kirkland is FINISHED !

What trust? How can JK trust Anne Wolfe when she doesn’t believe in her fighter. I’m sure it hurt watching her comfort Molina telling him he won the fight. Kirkland will prob sign with TMT and get easy dudes to walk over.

This may be the worse decision besides his arrest on gun possession. He is being naive thinking his career will advance by not having the best promotional company in GBP and Anne wolf. This could be career suicide. Good luck James you are going to need it.

This guy just doesn’t get it.

Yes indeedy! The idiot has committed career suicide. Dang! Maybe he has that Nile fever that is affecting Texas and a lot of the other western states.

TARK

The Ishida fight was a fluke happening. Kirland is one of the best and most exciting contenders out there. He demolished Angulo who the powers that be were extremely confident would cause JK’s destruction. They were trying to get rid of JK for good. Kirkland should have gotten another big fight off that great “fight-of-the-year” caliber win … But Boxing plays favorites and always has, and James is just not one of the favorites of Boxing’s present power structure.

Kirkland was an exciting prospect a few years ago but things are looking increasingly grim. His last “win” – a disqualification over Molina did him no good. Before that, he got KOed in 1 round by a journeyman: Ishida, a guy who since then has lost shutout decisions to virtual unknowns. Even if Kirkland reversed the loss to Ishida, it wouldn’t mean much. James Kirkland has a little bit of that “Mike Tyson” syndrome going on; since he got out of the slammer, he’s gone downhill. Now he is dumping his management team? Another tyson-like mistake. Mark my words: this guy will never again be a top contender.

Fight Aficionado

Kirkland had a nice run years ago when he was one of the most exciting boxers on the planet. But he probably already peaked and now he’s a spent shell and he’s blaming everyone and everything for his downfall. His ass got owned by Molina and Ishada. This latest move makes no sense but neither did declining a good HBO payday this summer. All this makes me question whether Kirkland even wants to fight nowadays.

With some proper training, he could have been a force.

If he should make the stupid decision to part ways with Ann Wolf and Pops Billingsley,he`s toast !

Bye bye Kirkland. Getting KO’d in next bout. His awkward ineffective footwork is as bad or worse than K9 Bundrage’s.
