I dont see maywether fighting the slick lefty trout who is bigger then mayweather . ISnt enough money for the risk . It doesnt make business sense . and even thou he might be great floyd has been careful who he has fought against. he always seemed to chose his opponets wisely . and fighting trout is good for boxing its risky for floyd

Why do people keep saying that Mayweather “struggled” against Cotto. It was a tough fight but May won 8-9 rounds. Cotto was in the fight all the way through and was competitive. But May won the fight easily.

No one heard of trout till he fought cotto, sounds like trouts people are on here and other sites trying to blow him up. It’s business if the fight is all risk and no reward then why would an aging fighter like mayweather take the fight, the Canelo fight makes sense because it would sell just like cotto vs mayweather sold. It’s all about the PPV = $$$

Mayweather needs to step up for a change. He should fight Trout now. Guerrero can not beat Floyd. Floyd is way faster, stronger, and a higher skilled boxer. Alvereze is taking on the a harder challenge in fighting Trout then Floyd fighting Guerrero. Alverese is only only 22 years of age and the Money Man is 35 years of age.

Why isn’t there more demand for Mayweather/Marquez 2? Seems logical to me and a fight we all know Floyd would sign up for right away. Yes, PBF beat Marquez easily in the first fight, but the question is whether Marquez is capable of making adjustments in a rematch. He looks better acclimated to the weight now than at their first meeting. I really don’t see Mayweather as a Jr. Middle at all. Didn’t he weight like 150 for his fight vs. Cotto?

I would love to see PBF vs. Martinez, but it really is a mismatch purely on size alone. I mean really, Martinez is not a large Middleweight, but he’s been fighting HUGE Middleweights in Pavlik, Williams, Chavez Jr (who must have weighed 200 lbs for their fight). Floyd doesn’t even max out at 154 so let’s be for real here.

Haha, Is that why Pacman never wanted to take a drug test to fight Mayweather. Dont accuse Marquez because your “god” and only good pilipino fighter was beat down and couldnt get up for almost 3 minutes. Pacman will be scared for life, he will never forget that knockdown. So don’t go out and make accusations, for what I know Pacman probably been the one on something for a while.

mayweather still has much more experience and has skills and smarts also ,,canelo is a good fighter , but he needs to climb that ladder alittle more before he can reach the status that floyd has reached , i give it to floyd in the eight round ,,

Wow what a wus, Trout will give you a boxing lesson Canelo, to bad you dont have the stones to fight him. He schooled your brother, and Im sure he will do the same to you. Someday maby this match will be made, then you can say bye bye to your belt Canelo.

Don’t waste your energy, money or time arguing , Floyd by close split decision. Canelo looks to fight like most Mexicans , Floyd “pot-shot” and run and cover. Similar to the way Ali would beat a big strong K.O puncher. Not cowardice, not scared, just “the way” to “BEAT” an Alverez. Now if Canelo trains to chase and catch – ya got problems !

Mayweather will school the young boy Alverez and if Martinez comes down to 154 he will smoke him too, But I think he will fight Guerro after Alverez…

I’ll believe it when the contracts get inked. BUT if it does, it will be another huge payday for Mayweather and will certainly add to his legacy. If he and Pacman cant get on the same page, the next best thing is Alvarez, or move all the way up to 160 against Martinez. IMHO, Martinez is too much weight and skill for even the great Mayweather to overcome, but Alvarez is a great fight…tough, but winnable fight.

Canelo is young strong and a smart fighter, also sticks to the plan well composed, I think it will be a 1st defeat for PBF

Trout would defeat both Mayweather and Canelo!! trout dominated cotto.. Trout is a very gifted fighter.. Alvarez has fought no one!! i praise cotto for taking the trout fight !! he accepted a challenge and is a professional.. these guys have to stop ducking oppponents!!

its a good fight for boxing but as some one wanting to see mayweather get beat I would like to see alvarez fight a few more fights first . I could honestly see slick lefty trout giving mayweather troble. Not sure if pinning mayweather on ropes is best way to beat mayweather. Because mayweather is a slick infighter who fights good off the ropes .If trout fought mayweather in the center of the ring . Threw his punches then stepped off even if he hit mayweathers body and arms mostly He might outpoint him because msywethers not a volume puncher .If mayweather got behind and had to chas trout it would take mayweather out of his game . there is a style for everone and I belive trouts style gives mayweather trouble

There are four guys Mayweather would not fight: Goluvkin, Thurman, Martinez and Alvarez. Mayweather does not have the punching power to stop either Thurman or Alvarez nor the speed to counter punch Martinez. As for Goluvkin, anyone who takes a fight against him must be looking for money or fame at the expense of being KO.

There is no one at 147 or below to beat Maye

canello, although he is only young, I have been impressed with his fundamentals and his composure, sure the talent he has fought so far is not the same as a floyd mayweather but i am in the line of thought where he could do a number on floyd. if he fights a smart fight, works the body and leans on floyd a lot. maybe even late stoppage. Still floyd has a habit of surprising us time after time. its a pick em for me

Canelo should fight Trout first, then, if he convinclngly wins, could fight Floyd, he’s talented but yet has not shown what he´s made of

Mayweather is a great fighter but he lost the firs fight agains castillo. I don’t think canelo can beat him but is not going to be easy fight. And canelo say if mayweather don’t fight him. He will fight austin trout that’s going to b really good fight. Can’t wait till may 4!

The only fighters that would give Mayweather problems would be Trout and S. Martinez. There is no way Guerrero nor Canelo can beat Maywearther. Mayweather avoided fighters like Paul Williams & Vernon Forest.

Like the writer says i will believe it when i see it. I absolutely hate mayweather but i do respect his boxing ability and would be forced to give him props for taking this fight because i dont think it will be an easy one. I went to the Canelo and j lopez fight and i swear you could hear canelo’s punches landing way back in the nosebleed seats. The only times cotto had any success against mayweather was when he had him against the ropes and throwing combinations mixing it up starting to the body and goin to the head. This is something i think canelo can do better than cotto, hes faster, stronger, and i think he mixes up his punches better making it harder to defend. But as always i will probly just end up disappointed with mayweather winning a decision throwing just enuff punches to win rounds and showing his crazy ability to avoid gettin hit clean

mexica76: Obviously he’s fought guys who can’t beat him…. otherwise he’d have a loss… not his fault he can’t be beat. The Irish kid needs to fight a solid prime 154 pounder for once… he’s such a disgrace to boxing.

I seriously don’t know where the notion came from that Mayweather Jr. only chooses fights he can easily win. I don’t think Mayweather looked at an undefeated Ricky Hatton and said to himself: “I’m going to choose him because he’s an easy win”. He fought Vicious Victor Ortiz, Juan Manual Marquez and a strong Miguel Cotto. Let me get one thing straight, I don’t respect Mayweather Jr a human being but as an athlete he is very skilled at what he does. If people say he chooses fights he can win then who should he fight? Who can beat him?

If he ends up fighting Robert Guerrero or Canelo Alvarez, whom are the top two fighters in front of the line to fight Mayweather — then both of those fights are not going to be easy.

I’d like to see Canelo with someone who is a firm 154 pounder, not guys much smaller than him. I think Keith Thurman would provide him a very stiff test, might even beat him. Thurman is raw and lacks experience, but he is very strong and hits hard. They are of a similart age, good test to see where canelo is at instead of seeing him pitched against guys at welter, or even light elter which is what jose sito really was.

Proud African

Mayweather has defeated many dangerous fighters in his career. Still, many haters won’t give him credit. Ask Hatton what Mayweather did to him. Canelo is just looking for a big payday. Why is he avoiding Trout who is calling him out?

Easy fight for, mayweather. Canelo doesnt, have the right tyoe experienceto, beat may. He would be dominated.

I agree with this article for the most part. I do think Canelo would fight Mayweather the same way as Cotto but Alvarez will be a little more effective because he is a little bit smarter than Cotto IMO. This is just myy opinion, I am calling this one for Alavrez by Split Decision. I said it here FIRST!

KOrnerman

He is no where near fast enough to trouble Money, wont cant pin him down although he does have a good record of beating smaller guys.
