Bummer, Rigondeaux needs to be active, not put on the shelf at 31 years old. Don’t like it when lawsuits like this happen because Rigo could be shelved for years, the last thing he needs. That said I read elsewhere that Hyde had a co-promotional deal with Top Rank and when that expired Top Rank signed a new deal with Rigo that excluded Hyde. In other words they tried to cut out the guy who brought Rigo to Top Rank in the first place. If true that’s some shifty biz.Posted August 22, 2012 5:30 pm
Not sure this author is using the word “enjoined” properly.Posted August 22, 2012 9:09 am
The problem here is that almost nobody in boxing respects the legal contracts that involve others.Like everything else in boxing anarchy rules.Posted August 22, 2012 8:24 am
Peej – you need to understand that Rigo went behind his managers back. This is the guy that invested in Rigo early on and helped him defect. Rigo should honor his managerial contract and then the big fights will come. He has been surrounded by too people adivising him. But since the clear evidence (basedo on previous legal proceedings which Hyde won) are that he needs to either honor that contract or buy it out.
Sometimes the promoters / managers are the bad guys but not always. The guys who put an early investment and make loss at the cost of helping a guy launch his career are entitled to make some return on that investment as long as the contract says so. I sometimes wonder if fans tend to tar the same situation with the same brush each time without know the full facts.
It is my belief that Top Rank have no interest in Rigo V Donaire but I bet Hyde does.Posted August 22, 2012 6:20 am
F#ck tmt, arum & king rigo doesn’t need em.No promotion for that matter is always looking in the fighters best interest. That said GB might be the best fit based on the many options they got win/win situation. If I’m not mistaken one of the 3 Cuban elites Lara also with GB & facing arums undefeated Armenian fighter.Rigo doesn’t need nonito or arum he’ll get his.Posted August 22, 2012 5:04 am
Subpar competition lol,Nonito, noshika, arce, mares etc the whole division is ducking him & arum protecting his cash cows & limiting rigo isn’t helping.Everybody’s running not just from rigo but all cubans,I can’t blame em though.Posted August 22, 2012 4:49 am
So instead of having him fight and make some money off of his fight instead he will not be fighting so they could explore other options. That is terrible.Posted August 22, 2012 12:34 am
Rigo will be signing with TMT.Posted August 21, 2012 8:10 pm
Arum is trash! Leave him while you canPosted August 21, 2012 7:15 pm
I think the problem with Rigo is he does not realise tha Hyde was about to get him an even better pay day and break him away from the TR schackles. Put it this way – Rigo has a better chance of fighting Donaire while he breaks from TR then if he stays with them.Posted August 21, 2012 6:47 pm
GOOD! They SHOULD ban him from facing subpar competition. So I ENDORSE the courts decision.Posted August 21, 2012 5:31 pm

Nice word,..’enjoined’. Ummm used out of proper contexts tho. That would actually mean he was ordered by the courts ruling to be part of the bout.
He needs to sign with Don King. Don King will show Rigondeux how things work here in America and essentially Americanize him.Posted August 21, 2012 4:14 pm
So Hyde’s way of fighting for Rigo is taking a payday away from him? Even if he does in fact have other offers, the guy has been training for this fight probably for over a month. Couldn’t he say something before?Posted August 21, 2012 4:07 pm
Rigo needs to sign with TMT or GBP pronto!!!! Screw Arum… he won’t get good fights or exposure under Arum.. he’ll end up like Juanma…. Arum won’t even let him fight DOnaire.. and that’s in house!! At least with TMT or GB he could get Moreno, Mares, Russel Jr., Agbeko, Perez, Darchinyan, Gonzalez and otehr fighters from other companies…. who aren’t dead and past it…Posted August 21, 2012 2:47 pm
