Ward, Kessler, Froch – no chance, but Groves – Pavlik wouldn’t be a bad option in the near future IMO. For Groves this was a good learning experience – nothing wring with a young fighter taking on an ageing vet and learning from it – this is what has always happened.

Well I guess Johnson made the right choice when he retired after his last fight. He’s had a great career and was a true pro’s pro.

Agree, don’t think he beat Degail last time and don’t think he would beat him if they did It again.Anderson desevers rematch he was promist ,but with Booth at the helm he will probley do what he did with Haye cherry pick his way from now on to a title shot avoiding any real risk then Groves will get found out too easy to hit for the top level.

as for last night fight that was not Glen Johnson in there, like his coach said “this fu**king kid doesn’t belong in there with you” and at one time that would have been so true.

peter and neil both true, He dishonourable not fighting Anderson again, I think Degale beats him in rematch he was coming on strong at the end of last fight but yes he has avoided rematches with both.

1.Ward 2.Froch 3.Kessler 4.Bute 5.Abraham ……. Groves and Degail should be anywhere between 12-to-20-ish.

Peter, Well he has a high world ranking because he is being managed carefully by the UK’s top promoter …… because of this, his world ranking is a bit exaggerated but they do need to take their time with Groves. He is not ready for the top guys yet and he is still very young. I would say that both Groves and DeGail are, in reality, around the top 15.

i couldent agree with the article more i just cant understand why groves has such high standings with the organisasions ?? i mean who has he actuall beat ?? i mean take out degale smith and anderson at domestic level and then you have johnsen who had lost his last 3 and 17 in total , and yet he’s ranked at number 2 by the wbo ??? he’s avoided a rematche with degale who i still think won that fight and avoided a rematche with anderson who was 10 seconds away from stopping him in round 3! degale is european and wbc silver now and anderson the british wouldent returns with them be better as 1 was controversial and the other 1 ended up with groves bein put down and comin back to win , rather than seein him fight a 43 year old comin of 3 defeats! and yet he had the cheek to critisise anderson for fightin reid who is 40 and was comin of 3 wins!!! have a word team exuse-maker eh…………

it amazes me how confident Americans are with their ignorance

typo “who HASNT entered world class yet”. Groves is still a prospect and an up-and-comer. Johnson (as faded as he is) was an excellent learning fight for Groves.

He should have as many others should have a pension fund by now. He needs to call it quits and avoid the dementia.

Johnson was well paid for this fight, why should he give up when he is still competitive, he will get well paid in the future, top up his pensin fund, good luck to him.

The former 2-time light heavyweight champion of the world Glen “The Road Warrior” Johnson is still an incredible fine boxer at his age of 43 and challange younger undefeated Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Grove for his title was brave, he lost a decision contest and Johnson is a great winner and a good loser as well in the ring but the fact is that this was his 4th loss in a row now and Johnson have only won 4 of his 10 latest fights! Johnson must realise now that even if he is still a fine boxer, he is not the same boxer he was a few years ago and must eather step down in quality of his opponents to fight low risk ones or hang the gloves up and retire from the ring. This only hurts his record and even if he puts up good fights against his younger opponents he can’t live on losses in the ring. I’m sorry but that’s the truth and I don’t wan’t too see Glen Johnson lose more fights or see him get hurt for the matter so I hope he will come to realise the truth.
