Mike JKhan’s team had him looking ahead to big money fights with Mayweather and others and he hadnt even beaten everyone at 140 or tested the waters at 147, thats how he lost to Peterson and Garcia. Yeah he looked good against Molina, but he still has a ways to go and a lot to prove. As for being called Elitist ha ha ha ha I’m a council estate kid, nothing more, I was brought up to be polite and say what I believe. You think this sort of conversation doesn’t belong in boxing the you are wrong again! Of course it does, we root for fighters based on heritage, hometown, background you name it. I said I didn’t like someone if you guys are so programmed by society then so be it, unlucky you. I fear for us all, have a KFC bucket tonight and sit down and watch more propaganda. Posted December 18, 2012 2:04 pmNazCalling someone a ‘typical british muslim’ and your comments back to Zjerr yet you’re no racist! Have a word with yourself. British born means British. If you start going down the route of where we all originated from, do your research on your so called True Brits. Until then shut your cakehole and stick to discussing boxing instead of getting personal. Amazing how such ignorant people still exist. Oh and for your information, Amir met his fiance whilst in America himself. It was not arranged at all. Again shows you know nothing about our British heritage as arranged marriages have always been around and are still around in upper class societies. Tolerance doesn’t mean HAVING to like everyone! As for not knowing anything about boxing, I do it day in day out every day and have done for over twenty years I know plenty. I have also trained and befriended many ethnic minority boxers. I don like Khan and what he represents. You guys need to get a grip, ban me for what? It’s called free speech. Back to boxing then, Khan didn’t look that different has amazing hand speed but opponents will always fancy their chances with that suspect chin? How many quality fighters have had any longevity with a chin like that? I can’t think of many? Posted December 17, 2012 8:27 pmbobI don’t like Amir Khan. I don’t believe he is a true British person. He is or has recently been preparing an arranged wedding. (before you start he had met her twice I believe and then they agreed to wed). This has, and has never had a place in true British society, we do not believe in or condone such arrangements. He shows no commitment to any aspect of British society other than fast cars and a smattering of the Union Jack on his shorts. Interesting that he is now a multi millionaire that his father has dispensed with the Union Jack waistcoat. This is not the forum for such discussions I agree but a Puerto Rican could express an opinion about an arch rival Mexican without incident. Yet mention the huge cultural issues associated with a leech like Amir? Simon you and your like are fools, I will sleep easy tonight because I am alert to the realities of British life. Firstly it’s plural sense in which you have written, secondly it’s an assumption and finally it’s prejudice not (prejudices). Posted December 17, 2012 3:10 pmKamiKAgreed, people complain about Khan but why…His fights are exciting don’t know what is going to happen. Posted December 17, 2012 3:08 pmKamiKKhan did everything right against Molina and here is another writer and a lot of comments that Khan got hit with big shots by Molina. This is not true. I saw the fight and yes Molina connected with a few punches…that’s it, this is boxing and of course you going to get hit. Khan still has things to improve on, things are not going to change with one fight, but Khan did what he had to do. Fired the jab, a bit more defense, took time off in later rounds as he was clearly winning and one side I have not seen was him fighting on the inside, threw some lovely uppercuts, all in all job well done. True I agree not time to jump on the Khan bandwagon but Khan needs to build up, nothing wrong with taken on lesser known opposition and slowly build gradually to a bigger fight. On Khan having a glass jaw….no, have people seen the fights against Maidana and Peterson, Khan took a lot of punishment in those fights and on all three knock downs against Garcia, Khan got up and was ready to fight.I think he can take a punch its more that his defense is non existent, needs to learn to clench and back off rather than go toe to toe, that’s Khan’s problem , not his chin. Posted December 17, 2012 3:05 pmI see GoodTheres probably NOBODY faster in boxing today. Hand speed like sugar Ray Leonard . But a GLASS JAW is a GLASS JAW. And that is what KHAN has. Will he ever get a belt YES. But will he ever fight the best once hes got one?? Paulie Malinagi has a belt he hits like a girl FAST hands mind you. He has proven that he can take a beating alright. But his belt will evaporate once he fights a belt holder that can PUNCH… Khan I wouldnt bet on him because a GLASS JAW is a GLASS JAW. And you can never BET on a glass jaw its 50/50 till he gets caught Posted December 17, 2012 2:49 pmZjerrKhan is exciting to watch whether he gets knocked out or not. Posted December 17, 2012 12:28 pmpsyGreat article. Khan will look great for 4 or 5 more fights, then get KO’d again, and change trainer. If his mind was half as quick as his hands he’d be unbeatable. Posted December 17, 2012 10:14 amcurtleyLets be realistic 10 out of 10 is nonsense and Amir was seriously busting Garcia up befor the KO, a rematch would be a 50-50 which is what we want to see in boxing, Khan could use his superior speed to outbox and bust Garcia up or he could get KO’ed by Garcia who is an excellent puncher. One thing is for certain Khan could stop Garcia or beat him on points whereas Garcia would have very little chance of outboxing Amir Posted December 17, 2012 9:31 amCSo just when is Khan scheduled to fight Breidis Prescott? Yup, I thought so – never. Posted December 17, 2012 9:26 amAnonymousThis was a good showing by Khan. The opponent was a good, safe choice, but not every fight has to be life or death. Khan is a good boxer but aggressice enough to make good fights. Will his chin let him down again at some point? Perhaps, but his fights are exciting and he has a reasonable chance with anyone. Posted December 17, 2012 8:13 amThrowbackI think the author is spot on with this article. Khan has crazy handspeed and good reach but he doesn’t have a boxing brain. He stands straight up and his head is almost never off the centre-line – that’s why Garcia could close his eyes and swing, he knew where his head was going to be. His upper-body doesn’t have any lateral movement, he doesn’t slip, duck, roll or pull punches let alone catch or parry them. And his chin is suspect but he likes to get into wars! The worrying thing is he doesn’t seem to be aware of his weaknesses and he overestimates his strengths which doesn’t bode well for his career or his health. I think a good accurate puncher who can weather the early storm and/or a good inside fighter will be too much for him. Posted December 17, 2012 6:51 amboxing barlowThis article is a bit harsh on khan. the reality is that this is boxing and people get knocked out every now and then. there is only the odd one Floyd maywether in each generation and even they sometimes get banged out towards the end of their careers Jones jnr style. most writers on here seem quick to write people off if they loose a fight or two. khan is an exciting fighter to watch and the fact he is chinny adds to that excitement as even against a lower tier fighter you never know if he may get sparked out. on the other hand what is harsh is to write him off, as although he’s been knocked out no one has really ever outbound him. Looks like he’ll get clocked at some point again but if Hunter can work with it and Khan can get over his massive UK fame/ego and surprising US clout, who knows? Probably the fastest hands at 140 and a serious problem for anyone unless they KO him. Posted December 17, 2012 2:06 amdeepcaverecordsKhan fought a slow midget with no pedigree or power at all and even that guy hit Khan no less than 10 times with the type of left hooks and straight rights that would have shattered Khans chin if he had even a little bit of power. Garcia must have been licking his lips watching Khan in there be a sucker for his signature punches yet again. Garcia KO’s Khan 10 times out of 10, Garcia’s an adaptable fighter with more than 1 way to fight. Khan has speed and a good offensive variety that’s it, the guy has no ring IQ at all and he’s got 1 way to fight, he’s done vs the good fighters that have pop now, the jig is up, now everyone knows about his chin and lack of versatility. Posted December 17, 2012 12:47 amWhiteyfiveoI agree, I saw alot of the same mistakes.. And HBO talking about this fight getting him back to the top. The Khan I saw last night will still get knocked out by a top competitor with power and the ability to cut off the ring. One of the things that benefited Khan was a huge ring that allowed him to move as he liked. That benefit won’t always be there. Posted December 16, 2012 6:55 pmEngliah LadI’m all in on King Khan. Posted December 16, 2012 5:40 pmsrminimoTrue that. Amir has a lot of talent, but he really doesn’t have a lot of power, which means that people can hang around and at some point catch him. In a year both Angulo and Khan will be KOd and the Virgil will not what it feels to be Freddie Roach for a day. Posted December 16, 2012 5:13 pmJoeKiddSame old Khan. Fast indeed but arm punches. And head just sitting there waiting to be corked. Molina has no power and seems capable of throwing only about 5 punches per round. Promoters can milk the public by feeding Khan a lot of Molina’s the same way the other prima donnas are ripping off the boxing public. Posted December 16, 2012 5:02 pmhecdogKhan didn’t prove a thing beating a small guy that couldn’t punch and was out of his league. Why would anyone think any different of Khan after this fight? He’s the same glass jawed amateur fighter that he’s always been. Khan will bet destroyed once he fights a legit fighter. Smart intelligent fans won’t be fooled by this guy. Khan will always have that glass jaw, and in boxing that means you will never be elite. Sorry Khan!
