power but lacks boxing skills .

I think he needs more competent training. A fighter with that height & reach who doesn’t know how to use the jab? If that isn’t addressed soon I don’t see him going very far in his career.

This kid reminds me of Grant, who looked great in the beginning, but was not able to advance his skills to be able to deal with the higher level fighters. Hopefully, it works out better for Wilder, but right now, I see more flaws than potential… let’s see.

At this point in time, Wilder is nothing more than a very big , strong heavyweight, with a k.o. right hand. Those attributes will carry him past top 100 fighters, after that, he better learn about balance, working for openings, and some defence, otherwise, he will have a short carrer. It makes me wonder if he listens to his trainer, the reason I say that is, Mark Breland was an excellent boxer, with a very good boxing brain, he knows boxing, at this stage Wilder only knows how to walk forward looking to ko every opponet with the big right hand, it will work against never was fighters and never will be fighters, bUT, when he gets somebody who can out think him and hit back with a big punch, then we will see. I am not writing him off yet, but he better listen to sound advice, or it’s all over very quickly.

“The heavyweight division is an embarrassment to boxing.”

Typical response of Americans as soon as they can’t dominate something: say it isn’t good anymore.

Wilder is a decent prospect, thats all you can say about him. His opponent level has been poor but i recon it will improve soon. Fury and PRice are ahead of him though.

hecdog, lmao,i think Wilder would have taken a 50 yard run up for the right hand if he could have….lol…i don’t know who’s in his corner but they need replacing. The guy has the size and the athletic ability,he just needs a trainer that understands boxing…I agree jennings is probably the best of the bunch in terms of fundamentals, but he is a tad undersized for today’s hw division.David Price vs Wilder, that’s afight i’d like to see soon.Price has serious power,he never looks like he’s putting much into his shots, but the crumpled heap of opponents tell me otherwise.

The heavyweight division is an embarrassment to boxing. Wilder looks horrific. He reminded me of an alley fight I had years ago when I took a running start at approximately 50 yards, and clocked a guy with a straight right hand that landed on the button. He’s nothing but a fighter with the Big Man Syndrome. He has no style whatsoever. A guy that size and he doesn’t have a jab? The rest of the division is the same except for Brian Jennings. Jennings is the only guy learning his craft, and his demeanor is that of a guy that has no ego and want to do things right. He’ developing and going through some adversity, which is good for him. Wilder has all the physical tools, and I’ll give him a 10 for that, but his boxing skills and development I’ll give him 2.

Although this fight proved nothing, I would like to see more of Wilder. There is always room for a heavyweight who can punch. It will be interesting to see how he does as he moves up. Price was not a significant step up.

Deontay Wilder still a raw fighter but powerful enough to beat most heavyweights
