ACA I’ve heard the same thing about him looking good in the gym from a couple guys I know in Cinnci, he didn’t turn pro until he was 26 and he hasn’t taken very much punishment through out his career. He beat Holyfield when still meant something to beat Holyfield.

ACA

Interesting to see if he can make some sort of comeback….reports from the gym is he moves and boxes well beyond his age. Some good fights out there if he can sell out his local home town….then he can afford to promote fights with guys like Hasim Rahman, Michael Grant and James Toney

Donald was a pretty decent fighter in his day but at 45? Being realistic, the best he can hope to achieve is a few decent paydays against the likes of Jason Gavern-level opponents. Any ideas he has of a really big fight are simply dreams. I give him full respect for what he is reported to have done to Seth Mitchell in sparring but that is Seth Mitchell……who really isn’t a serious contender. I hope Donald gets what he wants from this but that he is also realsitic enough to realise that he isn’t going big here.

Going to a Go Go

I think Larry Donald should not make a comeback. He was world class back in the day, but now he’s 45 y.o. Donald was never a big puncher, so he won’t get opponents’ respect now. Worse yet, Donald’s speed and foot mobility have probably evaporated due to aging. I fear that Donald will be a sitting duck for hungry, up-and-coming heavyweights.

Going to a Go Go

It doesn’t mean much that Donald bashed Mitchell in sparring. It’s just sparring. I know that Ibragimov got the better of Mitchell in sparring too (actually cut him up). But look what happened when they fought for real.

SVDC

I remember his fight with Valuev, a WBA eliminator. I thought he won that one, so did the crowd if I remember correctly. Don King disagreed…

Johnny

He absolutely bashed Mitchell. He’s still got something to offer, trust me.

Did Mitchell’s getting schooled in sparring affect his mentality going into the Banks embarrassment?

Ballou Armash

He dominated Mitchell during sparring. let him fight and make a couple of bucks.

I’ll say: Let him box.

This is a bad idea. Whether or not Donald can beat the odd trial horse, taking punishment again at an advanced age is not a good idea. Boxing is dangerous even for young men, and the damage may not show right away, but for those who stick around too long, it will appear eventually.

Fight fan OH

I watched him spar Seth Mitchell and he dominated him. He’ll whip Gavern!

Bob Foster’s Ball Guard

I predict that Donald will upset a couple of Heavyweights with his skills before finally calling it a day. From what I’ve heard he fed it to Seth Mitchell in sparring. He will beat Jason Gavern!!

I hate to see fighters come out of retirement . most of the time its money problems that brings them back usally theree broke and their skills have left them .

Larry Donald and “passion” in the same sentence… go figure.

And hehehe on the last comment regarding the coming Slater headline.

I can see a James Slater article arriving here soon titled – The Return of Larry Donald : Can “the Legend” Rise to the Top?

Mr Bad

I foresee Gavern winning in one-sided fashion. Donald was a good heavyweight in his day…better than most realized. But that was the 1990s. This is the ’10s. Say it ain’t so, Larry….
