I never take these news stories at face value… I wasn’t there.Posted January 3, 2013 3:42 am
Seems Trout celebrated his big win a little too hard over New Years. Got arrested for drunk in public brawling in a fast food joint at 4am. Priorities…Posted January 2, 2013 9:49 pm
bring on ricardo mayorga… 3 rounds of destruction. and just think about de la hoya introducing mayorga at the presser…Posted January 2, 2013 12:59 pm
DOMINATED IS THE WORD! mayweather86.. LOL!!Posted January 2, 2013 12:49 pm
Trout proved to be ALOT better than I thought and he is a LEGIT big, 154 pounder he made Cotto look like a WW in that ring plus the guy is composed and can box… His issue is that he brings ALL risk and very little reward, its a tough place to be in but if he keeps winning and making noise his time will come… In fairness to Canelo he was slated to fight Williams and Kirkland but both guys went down for different reasons, say what you will those would have been STIFF tests for a young fighter…. Right now Canelo would be a FOOL to do anything to get himself out of the Mayweather sweeptstakes.. Who knows when Floyd retires and the next BIG draw is out there? Manny is never fighting at a full 154 nor should he….Interesting times at 154…Posted January 2, 2013 12:20 pm
Canelo wants no part of Trout. Canelo should carry on fighting 40 year old has beens. Canelo will get exposed by Trout as a one dimensional come forward fighter.Posted January 2, 2013 10:40 am
Yeah reallyPosted January 2, 2013 9:17 am
Really. The same way that overweight redhead Alvarez had to go the distance with Matthew Hatton, Shane Mosley, and many other fighters. Really. Alvarez should have no trouble with a skilled smooth fighter with good footwork. Really.Posted January 1, 2013 8:39 pm
Fighter like Trout doesn’t get murdered by anybody.Posted January 1, 2013 8:37 pm
What would be new would be Canelo actually fighting Trout… That would be amazing.
I’ll believe it when I see it.. I don’t trust the Boxing biz to put a good fight together. And it’s not as if Trout is a masterboxer or some great puncher — he’s just a tough win.Posted January 1, 2013 6:53 pm
Canelo will smash trout!!!Posted January 1, 2013 4:28 pm
We’ve known Trout is being considered by Canelo’s camp for weeks. What else is new?Posted January 1, 2013 3:52 pm
largo, using your own crooked logic, didn’t canelo just fight anotherguy who just broke onto the scene in josesito lopez? why would trout be any different? its because he’s a REAL threat. that’s why.Posted January 1, 2013 2:22 pm
Trout will get murdered alvarez.Posted January 1, 2013 2:06 pm
Dave seriously? Hes not really all that impressive.dominate is far from the truth. Yes he won but it wasn’t pretty and I really dont see canelo having much trouble with him. Maybe for first 4-5 rounds but of lean twoards a stoppage 9-10.Posted January 1, 2013 1:17 pm
People need to stop saying the “only fight that makes sense” is between guys in different divisions. Actually, that makes no sense at all. Bronner going from 135 to 147 to face Guerreero makes no sense. Martinez going to 168 to fight Ward makes no sense. Mayweather going to 160 to fight Martinez? No sense. And Canelo vs Martinez at 160 also makes no sense until Canelo moves up. Canelo has like 5 fights at 154 that make perfect sense: Molina, Lara, Martyrosian, Trout, Kirkland… and eventually Mayweather. Why would he want to move up at this point?Posted January 1, 2013 12:40 pm
If Canelo wants to be the best he has to fight everyone so why not Trout? winner fights Mayweather!Posted January 1, 2013 12:34 pm
Reminds me of a young Vargas Wright type fight.Posted January 1, 2013 12:16 pm
trout will be beat canelo.. golden boy wants no part of trout!! canelo has fought no one!! someone on here called trout sloppy? trout is one of the most skilled boxers out there rite now! alot of cotto fans still cannot get over that dominating performance!!Posted January 1, 2013 11:45 am
Canelo vs Sergio Martinez is the only fight that makes sense..Posted January 1, 2013 10:19 am
A fight against Trout could be the one that proves whether or not Canelo is the real deal. And if Canelo does get the win then he should definitely be the second fight for Mayweather later in the year. Floyd is at least claiming that he’ll fight twice in 2013.Posted January 1, 2013 9:31 am
The Cinnabon kid might have trouble with TroutPosted January 1, 2013 4:35 am
cotto canelo would have sold huge numbers goldenshower must be bleeding along with canelo and cotto the figt could very still happen i guess if cotto wanted it too ……Posted January 1, 2013 3:27 am
Tark, i agree, f’ck Trout, he just broke into the scene, he can wait like everybody else…who the f’ck is Trout? a fish? f’ck’im.Posted January 1, 2013 2:45 am
The plan was for Cotto to beat Trout and win his title—and then for Canelo and Cotto to fight a unification fight.. That’s what Golden boy wanted.
Since Trout beat Cotto the plan for a unification fight is out the window.
Let’s not be fair to Trout for God’s sake.. This is Boxing.. Let’s tell a lie and say Trout did nothing to deserve an Alvarez fight and fight Cotto anyway.. Screw Trout.. I mean, that’s the way it’s always been done since Harry Wills was trying to get a title shot in 1916.
Why change now?Posted January 1, 2013 1:41 am
I think Canelo will have problems with Trouts range and this would be a good test for him or Trout.Posted December 31, 2012 11:40 pm

to barely get the win ….LMAOPosted December 31, 2012 10:56 pm
First of all I like to say that Trout is abit sloppy. He grab holds then pushes his opponents and his punches most of the time. He has decent defense but I wasn’t impressed with the win over Cotto. It was a hard fought fight that he did enough to barely get the win, I thnk Canelo will have to chase him down to beat him and that is what will happen.Posted December 31, 2012 10:45 pm
Moïse vs Jesus
“Hey how about Maidana for Alvarez? Seems like that’d be a competitive but not too hard a fight for Canelo.”
The boxing fans becomes more and more stupid! and what about king kong vs godzilla ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? and again ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
So what Alvarez CAN’T fight a SUPER WELTERWIEGHT ????Posted December 31, 2012 10:22 pm
Stop making excuses for Canelo KMSTAR time for him to fight a TOP JMW on a winning strealPosted December 31, 2012 10:19 pm
Bunch of crybabies here, Canelo vs Trout make it happen!! Its about time fkn ginger steps up vs a real 154. I want to know who the king of 154 is. Rather see a competitive fight than Canelo koing another over matched opponentPosted December 31, 2012 10:06 pm
I think Canelo against K9 would be entertaining. If Canelo is gonna be on the undercard I dont think the popularity and recognition of his opponent is that important considering its on a Mayweather ppv People will be ordering that fight no matter who the big names are fighting. GBP could maybe use this as an opportunity to showcase some of their lesser known fighters to the huge audience. Could build up Trouts popularity also. I could definitly see him giving Canelo alot of problems. If GB is too worried bout the matchup at this time put Trout on the card and if they both win they can face each other. Canelo would gain more experience hopefully against a game opponent, and at the same time get Trouts name out there to the more casual boxing fans.Posted December 31, 2012 9:02 pm
I recently saw an interesting interview of Shane Mosley where he compared Canelo’s power to Floyd’s and said that they were about equal, which I found surprising.
I don’t know if I believe Shane fully considering the way Canelo steamrolls his opponents, but he is the man who was in the ring with both of them.
We do need to see Canelo in against a true 154 pound fighter to gauge his power in real terms. The feasting on little guys moving up has to stop already.Posted December 31, 2012 8:47 pm
Panther – there are exciting “Boxers” you clown. Trout just does not happen to be one of them (so far). Don’t come on here and try to act like your knowledge is deeper than other individuals’ who have been following the sport for years…Posted December 31, 2012 8:41 pm
Trout is a solid all around boxer that has excellent defense, mobility and knows how to use a boxing ring. He has a lot of tools and experience to dominate a lot of good fighters. Canelo on the other hand is a tough, strong puncher with good hand speed and knows how to beat a fighter that stands inside with him or likes to stay on the ropes. I think this is a good match up. Canelo has potential, but lacks experience. He hasn’t been tested by anyone yet, and he has a bit of a bully type attitude that has worked well against lower level fighters that are smaller and present no challenge. There’s still a lot of questions he has to answer, but Trout may be the perfect opponent for him because Trout doesn’t carry enough power to hurt Canelo, but at the same time, he is a southpaw that knows how to box, and quite possibly create many problems for Canelo. How will Canelo deal with a slick southpaw in a tough 12 round fight? This is a classic boxer against a boxer/puncher. I would ordinarily take the more experienced fighter that is Austin Trout, but I think Canelo’s power is going to be the deciding factor. He’s young, hungry and Trout won’t be able to hold him off because he doesn’t have enough power. This will be a tough fight, and Trout will get the better of Canelo for 6-9 rounds, but in the end, Canelo will end up stopping Trout. Canelo’s youth and power will prevail.Posted December 31, 2012 8:07 pm
Hey how about Maidana for Alvarez? Seems like that’d be a competitive but not too hard a fight for Canelo.Posted December 31, 2012 7:36 pm
So are we ever going to see Mayweather-Alvarez? I thought Canelo wasn’t supposed to be dangerous for Floyd. I think Money was underestimating him, but still…would have been a good big money fight.Posted December 31, 2012 7:34 pm
I am telling you Trout is trash! He has no power and can be hit! Cotto hit him but had not power something Canelo has! Cotto is a blown up 147 dude at 154! Trout won’t be able to push Canelo around like he did with Cotto! Trout has no Power at all either! For the writer please do not act like Cotto was beat down by trout because he could have lost had Cotto not taken him lightly!Posted December 31, 2012 7:10 pm
The sport is called “BOXING” not Brawling. You guys are lucky to have another skillful boxer like Austin Trout around.Posted December 31, 2012 7:10 pm
Who really wants to see this match up? Yes, fans will pay to see Canelo fight just about anybody, but again I ask “Who really wants to see this?”. I would prefer Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, James Kirkland, Keith Thurman, Vanes Martirosyan over Trout. I get it “styles make fights” so Trout is a legit opponent, however styles also make for entertainment (or a lack thereof) and this brings in the question of value for money.
Cotto/Trout was not an exciting fight though it was a clinical display of his boxing ability. If none of those other guys were out there, I would happily watch this fight but that is not where the division stands right now.Posted December 31, 2012 6:50 pm
