Wow dont no about Dawson having no weapons and being slow….he would hammer Ward at his usual weight and mite even do si at Wards usual weight. The weight is only issue Dawsons more skilled tougher, way bigger longer Ward best hope the weight screws Chad

Dawson has’nt got a chinamans chance in Oakland. He looks terrible. So as predicted by many -Ward goes in against a drained fighter in his backyard, no in his house, no in his cellar. Dawson on a good night is slow and without weapons. Ward by Oakland decision, easily.

The weight drain will be the factor, too obvious.
It also gives Dawson an excuse. UD for Ward.

Couldn’t agree more. That’s right on point he did call him out and he did say he would go down in weight. Savvy…

i doubt chad stop ward not saying he cant but i dnt see it happening when the last time chad got a stoppage chad a good fighter he got a chance i aint cutting him short he got skills but mentally he dnt always be there in he fall in those lapses ward been consisent every fight and ward is a underated boxer he dnt show it cause he be fighting on the inside alot but he can box to

@Rock – I am picking Dawson as well – stoppage? maybe

I’m glad Bad Chad beat Bernard Hopkins. What a dirty fighter that guy is.

Btw neither fighters stock should drop whoever loses because both had the ball to take a real fight instead of putting on a exhibition of their own skills against a lesser fighter

Easily fight of the year and what makes it better is its as much of a toss up u will c in boxing today. To add to that its free also ive been looking foward to this fight since Chad called Ward out after the Bhop fight.

The Rock

I got Chad Dawson by stoppage. I bet I’m the only man in America picking him to win.

Would rather watch this fight then Mayweather vs Pacquiao. This will be a very highly contested bout with two top ten P4P fighters. The winner will be the number 2 P4P fighter in the world.

Chad challenged Calzaghe at 175. Calzaghe just finished off Jones, and had beaten Hopkins for a great accomplishment in 2008. He always wants and tries for big fights so theres a lot of respect. He just got a bit careless vs Pascal in Canada, got cut which can happen to anyone, came back but never got the chance to finish the job because they called the fight in the 11th. A tough way to lose, but outside of that lesson he hasn’t been beaten. So he’s a great challenge for Ward.

Ward is fighting the best available. Oakland makes sense because Dawson fights at the largest casino in the US, but Foxwoods only holds about 3800 in their ballroom. It’s nice but doesn’t beat Oracle arena, or options in Vegas or Carson, CA, or San Jose, etc.

For Chad he is quiet and hasn’t used tactics that some boxers do to entice large fanbases. He just fights. But it’s on his people in CT for not showing up or on Gary Shaw for not having the faith to book places larger than 3-5,000 capacity. So his fans can’t whine about him fighting in CA. It’s more money and more fans, larger gate.

Chad has the power to stop Ward & he should go for it…a decision will definitely go to Ward.

It’s Me, Ernie…

That pretty much sums it up right there…

Andre Ward`s experience in the Super Six tournament is going to serve him very well in this fight.

It will be a great display of skills, but not necessarily fan-friendly.

Posted August 24, 2012 10:07 am

Old Yank

I should have said “jump from 160 [not 168] to 175…”

Posted August 24, 2012 10:06 am

Old Yank

Dawson was a drive-by at best at 168; he was on a path whistling by the Joe Calzaghe graveyard in an obvious attempt to jump from 168 to 175 without ever having to face Calzaghe. Ward poses all the tricks, speed and skills that Calzaghe had, plus the amazing ability to simply not give away rounds. This is not a pick-’um bout. Ward by an uncomplicated UD!

For me this is a toss up cause ward had never faced a tall fast opponent in the pros, if it wasn’t for Dawson’s weight drain I’d have him winning but now I’m sketchy. Only hardcore boxing fans see that this is gonnna be a good fight don’t know y it has such a bad drawing..IMO this is up there with the Mayweather vs Pacquiao clash

Cant you say anything bad about Ward? Let my help you: he is dirty, boring, homeboy, headbutting, holding, featherfisted. More?

Posted August 24, 2012 7:17 am

Tapai

This fight has BORING written all over. Almost as bad as Flopkins vs. Flopkins

Posted August 24, 2012 7:15 am

KOrnerman

the exact reason why his style puts me to sleep, he does not have a style of his own he just adapts to his opponents, clever but boring.

Posted August 24, 2012 5:23 am

KOrnerman

With no disrespect neither are exiting fighters so I just cant see how an exiting fight can happen, we’l see.

chad might be competive with ward in some rounds if chad can stay on the outside use his jab and get off first use his speed but i think ward going to find a way to get inside and adjust and ward got a good snapping left jab to i think ward going to break chad down mentally with body shots ward just going to be tough for chad to deal with and win by decsion

Posted August 24, 2012 2:24 am

Jay

Ward will outhustle Chad. Dawson is very good boxer , but will be outworked by Andre. Chad needs room to punch and Andre will be all over him. Ward by wide points decision.

Ill take Ward by decision. Not big on Dawason with his taking the middle rounds off. When you have a fighter that will keep coming for 12 rounds, those middle rounds are very important

Posted August 24, 2012 1:24 am

1-2

Fate1 is very correct. Dawson hasnt been 68 for a while and Ward will be smart to work the body early. That said I met Ward a few times early in his pro career and he is a great person. Go Ward!

Tomato Can

I like this fight. I think Dawson is going to cause Ward problems, but Ward will end up finding a way to win in a close fight.

victory or death

its a win win for everybody as fans go its hard for me to pick I love watchin them both but if it goes K.O I pick dawson I just have this sneaky feelin he might get stronger with the weight loss I see him as a natural SMW . But doesnt always keep his focous during the middle rounds. ward I cant say a bad thing about him he does what it takes to win never loses focous and brings a bit of a different look in every fight I as a fan want dawson to win but its probly going to ward by decision

Boxtradamus

The Fight is a toss UP. Any man could WIN or it could be a DRAW.

Posted August 23, 2012 9:50 pm

Fate1

I think chad Dawson won’t be as strong at 168lbs. He is underestimating the weight loss. I want to see how he feels after 6rds. Ward needs to get inside and work the body and the head will follow. I like ward in this fight by decision.
