@Swedish Boxing Fan – you just must continue to dissrespect my name here? :-/ You are stuck on this subject? Well this is my final words – We don’t have any profesional heavyweight boxers to offer right now so far as I know and what dos thatg have to do with Malic Scotts career subject? People all over the world chears and roots for fighters from all countrys all over the world and America have had most recognised fighters in latest decades along with the title belts so yeah be glad for that instead for jumping at critics becouse all fighters are in public views so they and there fans have to count with that all the time. Personally I’m far from an American “hater” in fact I have studied alot on American society, history and politics etc so I’m sure I know just enough for a chat or debate but thats sidestepping here. Now I’m done with this debate and I will stick with it. You doo as you please but you will not gain annything on it. Peace.

He has been saying this since what 2000?

“Hello, that you Malik? This is David Prive, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Pulev, etc etc,. want to fight?”

I doubt it!!!!!!!!!!

Right… And Malik is ready to take the risk.. “I’m the book.. Give me a phone call.”

I hope Malik has a lot of patience … Who’s going to say, “You know what would be great now that I’m finally ranked a heavyweight contender?”

“What?”

“Let’s fight Malik Scott… I’m giving him a call right now.”

Tark, the party is over. Too many other guys out there srambling for position. Malik is goiing to get trampled in the stampede for that one big payday. It’s called “The Klit Call-out,” and if he answers, you get your early retiremnnt package. It’s the new business model for heavweights.

Sounds like we have another Kevin Johnson on our hands. A guy who talks more than he fights.

A heavyweight doesn’t need one-punch KO power.. Tunney and Ali didn’t weren’t smashing punchers. Holmes had just a touch more power than they had. Scott uses what he has very well, but he refused to take one risky fight throughout his career.

Now that time seems to be passing him by he’s finally talking about fighting contenders.

Why has it taken this long? Malik Scott has not beaten anyone and seems to have been around for years.

Good for Scott. He is in shape and wants to fight. Thanks to NBC, we are starting to see heavyweights again on U.S. television. I hope we see a lot more of them, Scott included.

He’s quick and a good “boxer” but doesn’t throw enough punches. I saw him fight on the Ward undercard and while he made Bowie look foolish, everyone around me (Oakland locals) were joking the whole time about him. The fan perspective is another heavyweight with a great record but without power. He will have to demonstrate that power to get people’s attention. I appreciate his good speed and boxing skill, but I guess most fans expect something different from a heavyweight. So most of the time people kept joking about things like his tatoos, and how ugly Bowies tat was…

Bad interview…. You should have asked Scott why his career hasn’t moved along faster.. You should have asked about Mike Tyson having 28 fights and winning the Heavyweight Championship as a 20-year-old. I saw Scott about 10 or 12 years ago — can’t even remember it’s been so long — and said, “Look at this kid.. He’ll be a Heavyweight Champion in 2 or 3 years.”

Boxing needs more managers like Cus D’Amato, who said, “If you have a talented heavyweight you have to fight him like crazy until he’s a contender. Fight every 2 or 3 weeks like Joe Louis did in his first year as a pro. That’s the way I managed Patterson. It’s better to be a world champion or a contender for 10 years — and have everybody want to fight you — than it is hanging around for months begging for a fight with a contender because you’re unranked and off everyone’s radar screen.”

What happened to Darrel Madison? He was another late 20 something who was suppose to set the HW division on fire a few years back.

guys got good boxing skills, but I hate the way these guys gets so prideful saying “my skills a infinite” and bowie pulled out on some coward ass reason… saw the fight and this so called infnite skilled boxer hates to engage.. a boxer who gets iced or comes out short aint a coward that man wasnt scared a look in the mirror scott might show who the coward is 12years in the game and he had the best winning record comming into the fight yourve faced….

Posted January 6, 2013 6:03 pm

Fight Aficionado

Scott’s got decent skills but his style is so reluctant I can only presume it’s because he refuses to mount any kind of offense for fear of getting hit. It’s frustrating because his technical skills are good enough he should’ve been facing top 10 guys years ago.

It’s Me, Ernie – Again you show up and never brings up annything to the table that we all allready know. You know little about boxing so why bother coming here just to insult and talk bad about people and boxers and as always you talk rubbish about the Klitschko brothers for nothing. They holds the world title belts with dignity and more respect then many other american title holders have done over the years and Wladimir Klitschko, an Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist and 2-time champ is so far the 3rd longest reigning world heavyweight champion of all times with over 13 world title defences, but becouse he is from Europe and not American that’s bad and don’t deserve the respect he should have and that’s ignorance as always from you but you don’t care of course and why should you when you are just a cheap joke around here and few takes you seriusly and think of it, why does I care? Becouse people like you are what’s the problem on this site. Go away, I have been here a lot longer then you so yeah, I know – you don’t. By the way boxing is still more popular then MMA in Europe and that’s why boxing moves over here.

I wonder if Scott is being avoided by the other heavyweights? He’s never fought a ranked contender or anyone in the BoxRec top 50.

Malik Scott, the promising contender who fell to an non contender. Sad to see a contender throw away such potential but then he had some injury that took some time but if he had managed himself smarter, he would have fought some top contenders bu now and mabey even had one title shot, but he have never even been a top 10 ranked contender so far as I know. If Scott wan’t something in his career, he must act now or the oppertunity will be lost forever for him. Sad but also true.

Posted January 6, 2013 3:54 pm

Yeah agree. We can all say that crap but when it comes to it, he will take on another bum

Posted January 6, 2013 3:54 pm

Malik should stick to cigars because in 10+ years being a pro he has NOT shown any interest in fighting anyone who can actually fight back – Same with Wilder

Posted January 6, 2013 3:51 pm

All talk, pathetic record….

Posted January 6, 2013 2:53 pm

mayweather86

All of the heavyweights are bums aside from the towers of power.

Posted January 6, 2013 2:50 pm

Gumboot

35-0 record? WOW! Just had a look at it and it consists of 35 in the bums-to-jouineymen category. Only one breatyhing opponent. Why would any top ten fighter want to match with Scott? He has nothing of value to a ranked fighter. Just like Wilder. Needs to fight some living boxers and THEN maybe he will get a contender.

Although, I could be happy wit an all Philly tourney…the fast fat one, corporal Cunningham, PMS-NBC’s Jennings, and u…u might be able to beat those 3 cruisers, but I pick the fast fat one…real good man boobs!!

Posted January 6, 2013 12:35 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

Let’s see contenders fight contenders on a regular basis for shots at the titles. It would revive interest in the heavyweight division. It seems like the trend is most just want to get a shot at the sisters without earning it, make a paycheck or two then disappear. It works out well for the Klits as far as generating income but it has caused many fans to follow MMA, where there is some action. The lower weights have been carrying the sport for many years now.

Hey Malik – great interview – u got personality…unfortunately, we’re tired of waiting for a real heavy to emerge from the right side of the pond!! Not so sure that a guy who’s never stepped up to face a significant opponent is our man for the job. That’s ok though…u got those stogies…smoke on, brotha!!

Posted January 6, 2013 12:30 pm

Having another (or any at this point) fighters with some skills emerging at the top of the HW division can only be a good thing, regardless of style and “pop”.

Posted January 6, 2013 11:52 am

Alex 12

Good interview, he def seems a like able fighter. I don’t know what it is, but he seems so “under the radar”, especially for a fighter with a record like his. Ned makes a good point about the apparent “lack of pop” though.

Posted January 6, 2013 11:48 am

Ned

Malik Scott, along with Adrian Bronner, and Tommy Ossthuizan, is one of the best boxers out there. However, Scott’s a heavyweight, and unfortunately in that division you have to pop to be in the top 10. Yet many of the top dogs still want no part of Malik, because his boxing skills can make them look bad. Nevertheless, Scott is a lot of fun to watch. It’s also funny that he mentioned Deontay Wilder, who can bang but can’t box. If you could combine Wilder and Scott into one fighter you’d have a great world champion.
