nicolasI figured as such. That is why the writing of this so called article comes out as BS. My response of course was also to tear into the logic of the article, and to show what it did not address. I think the biggest issue that should be facing boxing in the United States today is that it is considered okay to have only American judges when an American fighter is fighting a foreign fighter. The only foreign fighter who might get a square deal in the United States is a fighter from Mexico when he is fighting in one of the border states. Back in the 70′s and 60′s, it was not unusual for a fighter to go to Japan, in a world title fight and have the judges be onlyi Japanese. Likewise I remember when Estaban De Jesus went to fight Roberto Duran in their second fight for the Lightweight title in Panama, and all the judges were Panamanian. In the 1970′s, I remember that the rematch with Mike Rossman and Victor Galindez for the WBA Light heavyweight title was supposed to be in Nevada. Victor Galindez, (who I never liked) was correct in pulling out of that fight when all the judges appointed by the Nevada State Athletic Commision were American. Judges need to be approved for title fights, and fights that have title shot implications so that impartiality will not be an issue. In this case, not only were the judges only American, but they were locally based, two from Florida, the referee from Florida, and one from closer by North Carolina. talk about stacking the deck. Posted January 9, 2013 8:03 pmFight Aficionadonicolas, there’s no byline because it’s a press release from Barthelemy’s promoter. So there’s not going to be a balanced POV in the piece. Posted January 9, 2013 6:54 pmFight AficionadoLOL. Was watching with the volume low because my GF was talking most the time. The non-stop Atlas jabber didn’t influence my POV, which was that Usmanee won. And I’m a Barthelemy fan. Posted January 9, 2013 6:53 pmnicolasI had the fight a draw, however I take some issue with this article. First who is writing this article, their is not a named writer. We have this manaager claiming that the other fighters manager said Rances won the fight 8 to 4. However remember that Bob Arum said that Bradley told him that he had not done well enough, which then Bradley denied later. Certainly Arash has a far greater claim than Bradley does that he won the fight, and I am sure that Arash’s manager if he reads this statement will deny that he even said this. Also the article claims that some important boxing writers had Rances winning, and they can only name one. Their were some important boxing people who also felt that Bradley won as well, of course not many. Yes no one in the live audience booed the decision. However this was in Rances back yard, and to their credit they did not cheer the decision either. While I had it a draw, the issue about the judges should not be that they thought really Rances won, (the announcer on ESPN Espanol had it 115-113 for Arash, He though Arash won the 3rd round and Rances the 4th, I had it opposite, he gave Rances the 10th, I had Arrash in that round. So even with that disagreement, the 116-112 might not be so unfair if you consider those rounds close, though some here say none of those rounds were close) the real problem is that you have a local referee, two judges from Florida, and one from not far off North Carolina. The judges should really be from netural sites, unless you have one local, and one from the opponents backyard, with one neutral, and most certainly, the referee should not have been a Floridian, and certainly perhaps not American. Many of these fighters are not just fighters, but commodities in that they generate money for a local economy, if not a great large one. In the case of Rances, he will be fighting in Florida again. Local judges for this fight definitely should not have been allowed as this was supposed to be a fight to decide who gets a wolld title fight. Why is the United States appearing to be the only country (baring the Bute-Andrade first fight with a local ref) that seems to think it is okay to have all American officials? Many American fighters say they are scared to fight in other countries because they think they will be robbed. Should not foreign fighters feel that they are more in jeopardy of being robbed in the US? Posted January 9, 2013 6:08 pmDax FertgusonWhat a crappy decision! Barthelemy won rounds 1 & 2 and possibly one of the late rounds. The writer of this BS story is prejudiced, pure and simple. Barthelemy can’t fight a lick… Posted January 9, 2013 3:51 pmDax FertgusonWHAT A CRAPPY DECISIOON Posted January 9, 2013 3:48 pmAnonymouszereno – so true. When he is on the losing side of that kind of decision, he is the loudest to scream robbery, too. Such a hypocrite! Posted January 8, 2013 8:06 pmAnonymousUsmanee landed more and was busier….why review Posted January 8, 2013 4:11 pmAnonymousUsanmee was busier and landed more punches…what’s to review Posted January 8, 2013 3:39 pmAnonymousI respect what Leon Margules says here, it sounds like his honest opinion, but I disagree. The overwhelming majority of viewers had Usmanee winning the fight. He deserved the victory. Barthelemy held his own, but did not win the fight. Posted January 8, 2013 2:40 pmZerenoIf Leon Margules is involved in a boxing match there will be some funny stuff. And then he will put on his cheap lawyer hat on and defend his own corruption!!!! Posted January 8, 2013 2:31 pmScottThis was not a close fight. I gave Barthelemy just 3 rounds. The first 2 and if I remember right the 10th. I agree with Teddy Atlas, it’s either corruption or incompetence and this guy is part of the dishonesty. Posted January 8, 2013 2:21 pmCheese Cakeblablabla….yeah right.
